Hello Crafters Ruth - I hope things get worked out with your car battery. I've had AAA for years and they've replaced several batteries for me, so it's been worth what I paid to them. Ginny - I hope your doctor's appointment goes well and they can give you something to get you better. Congratulations on the upcoming new great niece or nephew, I'm sure an afghan will be appreciated - the baby yarn is so pretty and soft. I have 12 great nieces and nephews and it's been wonderful to watch them grow up and hear about their lives. Meg - Good for you getting things out of the house for the yard sale. I sure wish I could get motivated to do that. I'm glad your weather is cooler. Phyl - I'll be at your house soon for some rhubarb I seem to remember it was later in the Summer when I saw it in the stores here, but I've read that it comes into season earlier. Maybe I need to check at some of the farm markets. I hope it won't be too stressful waiting for the next few days. I haven't been doing anything interesting to talk about. Just reading and hanging around the house. The weather has been wonderful the last few days, in the 70s just the way I like it. I've had the windows open. Especially in the room where the ceiling leaked. I'm hoping I don't have to replace that ceiling. Take care everyone!

Phyl, I haven't been to Ross in quite awhile now. I used to get some really good buys there but the last time I was there I couldn't find anything for a good price except a skirt suit to wear to church and then I ended up not even ever wearing it and now it's undoubtedly too large. It's in our mall and we never go there. Haven't been to Kohl's except once when they first opened. I wasn't impressed and was disappointed because I had seen commercials on tv that looked as though they had nice things and a good selection. That wasn't the case in this store so I've never been back. Kohl's is even further than the mall on the other side of town.
Well maybe you'll get results sooner than they told you. I don't know why it would take that long but some things can't be rushed I guess.
Ginny I sure hope that they find a simple bladder infection that wll be easily cured with a short round of antibiotics. Last one I had they gave me four days of furantoin and it cleared it right up.
We went out to do dh's banking today and then to Walmart. Dh found a great bargain on men's underwear. I can't believe how expensive they've become so I told him to buy a lot to last forever so he got 12 pairs or maybe 15 I'm not sure. I doubt they'll last for the rest of his life but I don't know if the store had more or not. Underwear go thru lots of washings so they have to be durable.
It is hot today but not terrible but it's not a day where you want to go out in the mid day sun and do work. ;

Good evening!!
Yes, menโs underwear has gotten pricey- for Lord knows what reason. Perhaps cotton prices are high. Who knows.
Ends up that I probably do not have a UTI- the doctor is checking anyway.
CJ- was ceiling repairs included in your insurance settlement??I would hope that by now any damage would be evident, and you can evaluate the situation. Are your ceilings plaster, sheetrock or tile? Think we all have those days in which we do not do much. Hope you are enjoying relaxing and doing what you like. Also enjoying somewhat cooler weather- its supposed to warm up a bit over the next few days.
Ruth- I shop at Kohls a fair amount of the time. Its an interesting store- and can be hit or miss. Sometimes I go in there praying that they will have something that works as I do not want to go to anther store. They have decent prices and their coupons (30% off) are great. they also have a good web site and inventory online....glad that it is not too hot by you now.
Hey I feel insulted, we have only 114 views!
Phyl- $2.50 for a stuffed rabbit is a great deal!!!! Glad you had a great day.
ok I am tired, and will say good night. See ya tomorrow G

Ginny, the people on the other thread I post on often mention those Kohl's coupons for 30% off and they've gotten some really good deals. I never had a coupon I don't think. I'll maybe have to sign up for their newsletter and get some and maybe go there sometime and check things out.Back in 2010 when I was visiting my ds and ddil, ddil took me to Kohl's. It was in September and they had a lot of summer clearance things and I bought a lot. That was when I had lost weight before so all were small. I found the weight again so couldn't wear any of those things but now they fit again and some are actually too large but not so large that they look terrible so are good for wearing around the house or on a shopping trip to grocery store.
I'm glad to hear that you don't have a UTI and no symptoms.I'm sure we all know how painful a "simple" UTI can be.
I'm going to spend the rest of the evening crocheting and reading. I have a "cozy" mystery set in a knitting shop and no sex or vulgar language just a nice enjoyable book.

Hello Crafters
Ginny - I'm glad to hear it's not a UTI, hopefully whatever it is can be cleared up soon. I'm sure you are ready for the weekend
The ceiling in that room probably has plaster and then my father put boards up over that and placed 12x12 tiles over it - back in the 1970s There's one section where the tiles are bulging down a little bit so I'm guessing the plaster probably fell in there. I'm mostly concerned about mold, but I'll just keep on eye on it.
Ruth - Hope you enjoyed your reading last evening. I've recently been watching reruns of the show "The Nanny". It's been fun and enjoyable and reminded me of how nice show were back in the 1990s and earlier. I can't get into today's comedies because there is a lot of vulgarity and also I don't know about a lot of the "new" stuff out there so I just don't get the jokes.
Meg and Phyl - Hope you are well.
I have a busy weekend - high school graduation for two relatives and a quilt show. But I'm looking forward to doing something different and getting to eat out too. I get tired of eating the same old thing at my house all the time.
Take care everyone!

good afternoon,
CJ- your ceiling does sound complicated, and I can see why you would not want to have to replace it. It would be a lot of work and probably the whole thing would have to be replaced. Hopefully, its ok and there is no mold....would your insurance cover it?
Ruth, Kohls has great coupons and you can use them on their web site too. I think that you need a Kohls card to use their coupons however), I like their web site becasue they always have Dhโs jeans in the right size anc color. Makes it easier.
So thankful its Friday. Cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow. Ginny

Happy Friday Ladies. I hope you're all having a good day. CJ I hope you don't have mold. My ds and his family lived in a really nice house for a short time and couldn't even use one of the bedrooms because of mold. they were renting and the owners were trying to sell but I don't think they would have any success with that mold probablem. Ds had been thinking of buying that house but the mold definitely put a stop to that. He bought another place soon after and moved.
Ginny, yes I was thinking earlier that today is Friday...well first I thought it was Sunday but then got my days straightened out. Then thought about this being your last day for the week and not long to go before summer vacation. I know you can't wait. Are you feeling ok today? No symptoms of this possible UTI?
Been running in and out doing yard work in spurts. I bought plants yesterday and had to get them planted today before they wilted and died. There's a lot I could do out there and I have a lot of ideas in my head but I wish the ideas would suddenly morph into something completed without me doing anything. That's not going to happen though and my yard is much nice than it was last year already. I'm sure enjoying the new porch my son built us and that dh finished up. I have hummingbird feeders on it and a regular bird feeder and nice plants so I'm happy.
I worked just a tiny bit last night on the last fingerless glove. I still have to do the finishing touches on most of the pairs with weaving in the ends and putting on the appliques. I've been talking about that now for at least a month and still don't have that part done.
Now I need to go clean my kitchen. Dh will vacuum all the carpeting ( which is not in the kitchen... I don't like carpeting in kitchen's or bathrooms so thankfullly there's none in either place here)
So see you all later

Hello everyone, I have not had much computer time this week. I have been keeping busy and I go to bed late and get up late. Devin has been keeping busy and spending too much time on the computer. I think as of next week he will be going to a program a couple of mornings a week. We will also be going out to the coast later in the month for a few days.
Today, I went to Knit Wits and had a fun afternoon. I am working on another b/blanket and I am using some yarn that someone gave me. I have 6 finished b/ blankets that I need to donate. It seems the wrong time of year to be donating b/blankets. But I guess babies need a blanket any time of the year.
Ginny, I hope you don't have an UTI as they can be very dangerous. That's what I had last year and I was in the hospital for 6 days 3 of them in ICU. But I am sure your Drs. will keep an eye on you.
Phyl, You do have a good time on your shopping trips. Is Hannah your grand daughter? My DS worked at Khol's at one time and I loved their Friends & Family sales which they had quite often. I stocked up on towels and bedding because he got another discount on top of the reg. discount. I did not like the clothing and I could not find anything I liked for myself or DD.
cj, I hope you do not have to spend too much money on your ceiling but I am glad you have a good roof.
Ruth, I am glad your DH found a good deal on under wear. My DH was always stocking up on his and after he passed away we discovered lots of packets of new under wear.
I am tired this evening so I am going to finish my book and hopefully go to bed early. Hopefully I will get back here tomorrow. I may have to bring Janet home for a few hours.
Take care .

Hello to all. Meg, it's good to see you. I'm glad to hear that Devin will be going to a child's program rather than sitting at home on the computer all the time. Kids do way too much of that now.I'm sure he's used to it but being the only child must keep him somewhat isolated. I'm glad that you were able to get to Knit Wits yesterday. What kind of baby blanket are you working on now...is it knit or crochet and what kind of pattern..is it the chevron you mentioned?
Hot again today. Ginny wouldn't like it here. Although it is a dry heat so not as bad as the heat in NY. It will be cooler starting tomorrow. They keep changing the forecast but it looks like we'll have some low 70's days.
I did finish that glove last night and made a matching pair for the 4 year old so he could match his dad and 19 year old brother. I think they're a little big though so I started a pair that I'm going to make a little bit smaller. Then to work on all the seams, weaving of ends and appliques then I'll be done with fingerless gloves for awhile. I'm looking forward to starting a baby blanket using Ginny's pattern. It makes such a pretty blanket.I've also seen some other really nice patterns lately that I want to try and will add the completed blankets to my donate pile. And yes I'm not completely done with gloves because I have a lot of mittens still to make for my other donating project....mittens and cowls....cowls because they are safer than scarves with no trailing ends. There will be some for children and adults.
This morning so far.. well it's afternoon now...I wound up yarn into balls. I don't know how, when you place yarn on a flat surface and it's not moved, that it ends up being tangled with any other yarn that's near. It's almost as it it crawls over to the other yarn and starts hugging it.
Ok now off to either start a crochet project or do some work. Don't know if I want to do outside work or sort thru paperwork. Both are really not things I love to do. So anyway, see you later

Happy Saturday!!
Meg, thanks for your concern about my possible UTI. My doctor took a urine specimin to send out and has requested another specimin be taken when I go for routine blood work next Saturday. He is reasonably convinced that I am fine but is being cautious. Glad to hear that you will be going away for a few days, at the end of the month. WIll you be staying on the beach or very nearby? My recollection of the pacific coast is that its not a lot like the Atlantic coast. Do not remember much, as I was a child. Anyway, hope that if you do go you have a nice time away- sometimes a change of scenery is nice. Well yes, it does seem like the wrong time of year to donate baby blankets- but there is no way you would be able to keep up with the demand for baby blankets during the winter! Keep on crochetting.....and they will be put to good use. As much as it is nice that Devin is a good and pleasant kid- bet it will be nice for him to be in a program for a week. That will add structure to his days and yours, and some structure even during summer vacation is good. Glad you got to knit wits!!!!
Ruth well which of the dreaded tasks, gardening or sorting through paperwork - did you take on?? The only thing I like about going through paperwork is that when the task is done a cluttery pile looks much better. But it seems to absurd having all this paperwork to go through and the amount that needs to be kept is insane. My yarn does the same thing- seems to get tangled up no matter what. How it does that just sitting on a table is beyond my comprehension. Hope you enjoy working on that pattern to make a baby blanket. Its a lovely pattern to work on.
Went on a morning out with my friend, we went to Christmas tree shops and Quilters Attic. At CTS I got a small table for the front porcn and tea light candles. At the LQS- we;; be proud of me, I resisted the urge to buy any fabric. I had a coupon however, and bought batting for a quilt that I already have the fabric for..
We got home late last night from a concert, I am super tired.....so will sign off and wish each of you a good evening G

Ginny, good to see you I'm glad your doctor is being thorough. It sounds like you had a good time today at the CTS and quilting shop.Congratulations on being able to resist buying more fabric and buying batting instead. How was the concert?
Well I actually did both tasks. I went outside and watered everything. There are many other things I could do out there but not today. Then I went thru my file cabinet again mostly because I didn't know where dh's birth certificate was and don't want to pay the huge fee for a replacement from NY. I got several copies of mine quite a few years ago. I was born in Pa and they cost hardly anything. I wonder what Pa charges now. My one grandaughter was born in Germany and my ds says that it states on the birth certificate that no new ones or copies can be obtained. Now that sounds scary because I'm sure that many, many people lose their's at some point in their life and need a replacement. Anyway after going all thru the file cabinet I finally admitted to dh that I couldn't find his birth certificate..he gets very nervous about these things....and he told me he knew exactly where it was, that he put it in the bag we have ready to grab if running out of the house immediately is ever necessary. So we looked in the bag and he was right...there it was. So that was a big relief. Never did find the receipt for the car battery for our second vehicle but luckily it's from Menards and you can print a receipt in the store. I'd rather have found this one though.
Still, my file cabinet is now in order, I was able to put a lot of paper into the future burn in woodstove container and also, since I have enough notebooks to supply an entire school, I took some of those and put with the things that are going to GW.They were stored under my desk so that area looks better too. I also had a huge greeting card collection and had already put some in the GW bags but today found yet more of them...ones I had bought to send in case I ever needed to send a card but then never sent, so added those to the GW bags too.I kept only a few that i might possibly send sometime. I used to send them to my friend in the nursing home but since she's deceased now I have very few people I send to.And these I'd be embarrassed to send anyway because I'e had them so long that I bought them at a much lower price than they're sold for now so when the recipient looked at the back of the card they would see the very low prices I paid.
So anyway I have got a bunch of things accomplished today. Most days I don't accomplish much at all.
I do hope all of you have a good evening. CJ is probably tired from her weekend activities at graduations and quilt shows.

Hello Crafters
Meg - A trip to the coast sounds so nice, I love to see the ocean. I hope you have a wonderful time. I hope you can find somewhere to donate those blankets, I'm sure someone needs them.
Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the concert and get some rest this evening. The shopping today sounds fun, good for you resisting buying too much at the LQS
Ruth - I've always wanted to put together a bag like that with all my important documents so I could grab them and run if I needed to. I even bought a waterproof/fireproof safe a few years ago to put them in. Of course the safe is still in the box I brought it home in, unopened I send out cards to people that I get in the mail from organizations looking for donations. I only save the cards that I donate to, but they are lovely and I hope the recipient doesn't mind that they weren't bought in a store.
Phyl - Hope you are doing well and enjoying the weekend.
As for my ceiling, I'm just going to leave it alone unless I see any signs of mold. There could be some above the tiles, but they all interconnect and I can't see above them. I have been trying to open the windows in that room when I can and also run the air conditioner in there sometimes. Just to air it out.
I had a wonderful time at the graduation last night, even though it was a long day - didn't get home until close to midnight. The boys are all grown-up now, it's hard to believe. They looked so handsome and the speakers at the graduation were good. The high school orchestra and choir were fantastic, I would have loved to hear them in concert. For dinner we ate a bar type restaurant, that is owned by a family member of my sister-in-law. The food was really good. I had some fried shrimp and Cajun fries. I also tried a few fried pickles and they were good.
The quilt show was great today too. I saw some beautiful quilts. I also went to two of the demonstrations - one on English Paper Piecing and one on Hand Quilting. I have an English Paper Piecing project I started years ago and need to get back to it. The Hand Quilting instructor showed a few of her pieces and they were beautiful. She likes to quilt with satin as the top fabric and cotton the bottom.
The quilts in the show were a nice mix. Not too many modern and several applique and hand quilted which was nice to see. A few of them I would love to have. There was a beautiful bargello quilt that was all in purples, teals and turquoise - it was large too.
I picked up a few items in the Country Peddler area where the members donate fabric, supplies, etc. I found 13 Flower Basket quilt blocks in Springtime colors that will make up into a nice quilt. I also found a few strips of Flying Geese blocks that were hand quilted. These were in browns/creams and will make up into a nice small quilt/wall hanging. There weren't a lot of crocheted items this time, usually there are more.
I may go back tomorrow, since in the last hour they reduce everything in the Country Peddler area. Their prices are a bit high, so I might get some good deals at the end of the show. I did see a few finished quilt tops that would be nice to buy to finish. They were all from the same woman so I don't know if she passed away or if she just can't quilt anymore. I always find that sad when I see a bunch of items donated by one person.
We had some heavy rain here this afternoon, almost 2 inches in less than hour. Fortunately I was home before it started.
Take care everyone!

Good morning and Happy Sunday all!
Just got back from church, a somewhat shortened service as it was run entirely by the church youth group. They did a wonderful job.
Dh and i are going out for a walk later on. I am hoping that today is a quiet day....the weather is pleasant and not too hot.
Will check in later on to see who stops in Ginny
