Hi everyone, it's late so I will be quick as I want to read before I go to bed. I went to my Knit Wits gp. today and that's how I spent my afternoon. My DD in Florida called and she talked for ages and that took up most of my evening. She started a new job about 4 weeks a ago.
I always check the library web site every day and when I checked last night the Poldark book I had on hold was available for me so I have started reading it only problem it is not an audio book so I wont be able to do any crafting while I am reading it. I will check back tomorrow when I have more time.
Good night.

Good. Morning!!
Meg, I can clearly understand the desire to listen to a book- it allows you to multi task- “read” and crochet. I know there is a big debate about e-books and paper books. Do you have a preference? I know you use a Kindle sometimes. Glad you got to knit wits, something you enjoy!!
Ruth, good to hear that Dd is coming over on Sunday, yes its Fathers day.. Your plans for a nice bible cover for Dgd are so kind- I am sure it will mean a lot to her as her first “real” bible. My bible case has a pouch- very handy for pens and church bulletins. What color are the fg that you are planning on giving to Dd?
Went for my routine blood work this am.....now have to figure out what the rest of this day will bring. G

Good morning Meg, Ginny, CJ and Phyl My Bible case has several pouches too but it's one I bought and the zippered pouches are kind of upside down. It also has pockets inside for bulletins, etc. Of course I always have to look in all of them before I find what I'm looking for It's a cool day here today so I'll be doing some cooking and baking, some cleaning then the fingerless gloves. I'm thinking that I'll use REd heart With Love Yarn in a mettalic white.I thought I'd get both pairs done yesterday but other things came up so I only got the one pair done.Should have made the butterfly ones first since the others won't be sent until later in the summer but I just wanted to get them done. Ginny, I'm sure your weekends are very full with having only two days a week off work. Meg, I'm glad to hear you got to go to Knit Wits yesterday. I still haven't tried an audio book. I'd have to use headphones since I can't hear very well.As far as the question Ginny asked you about books, well I tried an audio book once a few years ago and it was ok, and now I mostly read books on my laptop but I still prefer a real book in my hands. How about you? CJ what are you up to this weekend. I think it would be a lot of fun organizing fabric. I wish I had more room so that I could do mine. Right now I have it all organized in bins...holdiay fabric in one, white fabric in another, kids fabric in another, etc.I haven't done any sewing though since right before Christmas 2016 when I made rice bags. Prayer continues for Phyl....hi PHyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying the weekend It's very hot here and supposed to get warmer the next few days. I just stay inside where it's cool. I've been going through magazines I have laying around and some Cross Stitch ones that I bought at the quilt show last weekend. I tear out the patterns that I like and then throw away the rest of the magazine. I have several large 3 ring binders full of quilt patterns and I want to start one for the cross stitch patterns I have. Maybe one day I'll get to working on some of them. I've also been looking around the Internet at websites selling cross stitch patterns. There are some absolutely beautiful ones that look so realistic. I have an half finished piece that shows the lighthouses on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I'd really like to finish that one someday. Take care everyone!

hi girls, thursday I started a thread about my platelet count . I do have thrombosis. it is a blood related diease. I have the gene jak2 in my bone marrow tahti s causing the high count of platelets.maybe was born with it.
the oncologist said not to think of itaas blood cancer.I can live just as long as people who don't have it.
I will be giving a vile of blood every 2 weeks and seeing the onco every 3 months. In time that will drop to every 8 weeks and seeing the onco once a year.
mean time I take my pills and keep doing what I am doing.
she also said it is part of getting older. don't you just love it when they tell us that?? NOT!!
she also said it could go into leukemia. that could be years down the road.
there are alot of people with this something like 88,000. I never had any symptons, guess most of us don't.
this pill is also suppose to help keep me from having a strok eor heart attack.
so I will keep on doing what I am doing and living. I really believe when the LORD is ready he will take u s no matter what we do,wether we are ready or not.
we drove to a town 60 miles away. went to cabela's and the quilt shop. I Spent 40.00
bought 4 fat quarters and a pattern and an new thing out for tools called stash and stare. I will be able to stand up my seam rippers ,small scissors and pens in it.think there is a pictue in nancy's notions catalog.mmmmm wonder if it would work for your crochet hooks. I will have to let you know.
thank you for all the prayers. they worked. phyl

Good evening!
Ruth, my store bought Bible case is a mess-its full of old church bulletins, and notes to myself.....I am finally getting wise and brought out a notebook so I no longer need to keep the bulletin- I will take my sermon notes in there. So you are not alone, I cannot find much in my bible cover. You work quickly so I know that the second pair of gloves will be done soon...red metallic sounds just lovely. Oh, please send the cooler weather here.....its supposed to be awfully hot in the next few days.
CJ- I have always wanted to ask, is your avatar Bodie lighthouse on the Outer Banks? That must be a very pretty cross stitch, and yes you ought to finish it so you can take a picture of it and share that with us!!! Do you work counted cross stitch or stamped or both? I have done counted, some smaller pieces, and tried to take that up again...I just do not have the time nor patience for it now. The most recent cross stitch I completed about 6 or 7 years ago, was stamped....and I do love it. It used to be my avatar on WW. Anyway - stay inside and stay cool for the next few days. We are in for some miserable weather.
Phyl- God is good! This could have been a horrible diagnosis- and well, it sounds as though this is very manageable. Follow your doctors orders and educate yourself on this. I will continue to pray for you . That stash and store looks like a wonderful idea. Perfect to straighten up a messing sewing table, like mine!!!
Well, I sort of knew it last night, but today I came down with a nasty summer cold. I ended up laying down for several hours mid day- which did help me feel a bit better. I am taking cold meds, and hope that I feel good enough tomorrow to celebrate Fathers day.
My crafting for today was checking out some blogs on Craftsy- I felt too crummy to do much else.

Phyl, I'm happy to see you here and hear the news from you that all looks pretty promising. I'm praying prayers of thanks and will continue to pray that all goes well. I knew it could have turned out to be something really bad so am extremely relieved to hear that your doctor found out exactly what it is and is very optimistic.Sounds like you had a great time shopping and got some really nice things. I'll have to look up the device you got. I need more organization for sure
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear you have a cold. I hope it's gone soon. Drink lots of fluids. You're mentioning the Bible cover you have made me think that I could actually do a zippered pocket in the cover. I've been meaning to try crocheting zippers into pouches either with or without lining.I watched a couple youtubes on that. I never liked videos but now am getting more used to them. I don't think I would like to follow a pattern on one though while crocheting. Well I haven't even started the butterfly gloves yet but will in a second and dd isn't coming over until at least 1...probably more like three so I'll have time to get it done tomorrow if I don't finish it tonight.
My sister in law did stamped cross stitch. That's the one you buy on baby bibs, etc, right? with the x's and things stamped on to it? I know when they visited us a few years ago she got two at Walmart but when she got back here from shopping they weren't in her cart. Her 50's birthday was coming up so I went back to Walmart and got those same ones and sent to her. So then I guess they thought I had taken them out of her cart so that I could send them to her as a birthday gift but I didn't. I knew she wanted them to work on while sitting in their RV in the evenings. Back when my grandmother was teaching me embroidery that's what she got me. I've thought of doing it over the years and even bought kits but I never did them and gave the kits away.
Ginny, tomorrow's high here is to be only 58...too cold for me but it is nice to have a break in the hot weather. It's supposed to be fairly cool all week .
Meg, I have two library sites and one from the beginning sent me an email when a book on hold became available. I missed one on the other site because I forgot to check. Then I found out how to have them send an email also so now since I check my email almost every morning I don't miss any anymore. I have one that became available the other day.. "cozy mystery" in which the main character owns a knitting shop or a yarn shop.

Hi everyone, It is windy and hot today. Last night I couldn't get my Nook to work so I went to the library this afternoon and they have people who are very helpful;. I thought the trouble was with the library connection and I was right . So I got hooked up with them and I am back on business. I can read tonight. I really miss my Nook when it doesn't work which is not often. Someone asked if I prefer a real book in my hands and the answer is at this point in my life I prefer my Nook , I can see better and I can adjust the size of the font and the screen lights up. I can also browse the books at the library and down load those I want on to my Nook and computer. I can request the library to hold books if there is a waiting list. The only time I go to the library is when I go to Knit Wits or if I have a problem with my Nook like today. Also I have Macular Degeneration and it is easier for me to see. I have probably told you more than you wanted to know.
On my way home I was stopped at 4 way stop sign. I waited for the other cars to go through then as I went through another car an I had a slight accident with another car I don't know whether he made what we call here a California stop which means he did not stop properly but I don't know who was at fault. The guy was a young man who looked like a college student . His car was the same model as mine but a year older and looked about 10 years older than mine. Anyway that is my exciting afternoon. This evening I will relax and read.
Phyl. I am glad you have had your Drs. explain the results of your tests now I hope you can relax and enjoy your outings with your friends and doing your quilting. As we get older you never know when you will something will happen so it's better to enjoy life. I will continue to pray for you. Be well.
Ginny, hope the blood tests results will find you in good health. Sorry you have a cold and I hope it wont interfere with Fathers day.
cj, I hope you are staying cool and enjoying your new A/C. I noticed while I was in the library today that there were a lot of people sitting in the comfortable chairs. I think every seat was filled. It is a good place to go to escape the heat.
Ruth, did you say you were going to buy your DGD a bible . I am sure she will treasure it. I bought my oldest FGF a bible when she was confirmed and I bought Devin a children's bible. I do use head phones when I listen to audio books. I don't really like them and I may try to find something more comfortable.
I need to get off here. Have a good night everyone.

Well some of you would love hte weather here today. As forecast, it's very cool today and wet.
Meg, yes that is one advantage of reading on a ereader or a laptop or computer. You can make the font as large as you need to.No my ds and his wife are buying the Bible. I'm just making a cover for it like I did for her older sister. After I sent that one the three younger girls all wanted one.
I need to do a little straightening up then I'm just going to sit and crochet until dd gets here. Dh is taking a nap before she does.If I don't straighten up my "office" she won't have anywhere to sit. I'm surrounded by yarn.

Hello Crafters Phyl - Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear this is something manageable for you. Your trip to the quilt store sounds like it went well, it's nice that you were able to get out for a ride. Ginny - Hope you are feeling better today. I've done both counted cross stitch and stamped. The lighthouse piece is counted. My avatar is of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse on the east coast. I actually walked to the top of it when I was a child. We used to spend a lot of Summer vacations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Meg - I'm glad the library staff was able to get your Nook working again and that you weren't hurt in the car accident. Hope your weather gets cooler. Ruth - Hope you get to your crocheting toady, and that your weather gets better. It's very hot here today, in the low 90s. I don't have to go out anywhere so I'm just staying in and staying cool. I hooked up the portable AC downstairs and along with a fan it keeps it from getting too bad. I finished going through those magazines last night - except for the ones on Smocking that I still need to look at. It was good to clear a few things out of the house. Take care everyone!

Will be short, as I am tired and its so insanely hot.
CJ- I have been on Hatteras light house- we went there about 7 years ago after it was moved, again. Stay inside and stay cool. Looking through magazines is a great way to accomplish something in crummy weather.
Meg, so sorry about the fender bender. Yes there are certain scenarios in which one driver is clearly at fault. Not coming to a complete stop is one of those.....glad you are ok and hope that the car is still ok to drive. Glad you explained which version of reading you prefer. As we will never get to meet each other here, its kind of neat to think of each of you in your lives.....and doing what you like. You- for example,I always envision listening to a great book and crochetting. Ruth is always crochetting or making some awesome meal for her Dh. CJ is busy getting to all those quilt shows that I can never get to!! And Phyl, well she is “bummin’ with Delona” and having one heck of a time doing just that. I can easily understand why a Nook would work best for you and are thankful that that technology works for you.
Ruth- did Dd stop in today to see Dh? Hope you got the straightening up done that you wanted to. And please, send some of that cooler weather to me. this is awful. Yes, stamped x stitch is what is on those baby bibs. And also that really pretty picture I made several years ago.
We went out to some non betting horse races with Dd and her family. Its insanely hot here.....hot weather like this makes me feel ill. My cold is improving, but I am still not all better. I know I will take cold meds before heading to bed.
Have a good evening G

Phyl, Nancy's site is out of stock on the stash and store sets. I'm going to look for something like that online and see if anyone else has it. Thanks for telling us about it. It seems like a good thing to have esp after I really get my craft cave organized.
Ginny, going out in the heat must have been exhausting for you. I know you don't like heat and with your cold it had to have made you even more tired.
Meg, sorry about the accident but I'm sure glad you weren't hurt.
CJ, my dh was talking today about getting an air conditioner. I'm going to look into the portable ones. The way our house is laid out a window air conditioner wouldn't do juch to cool since we have a modified open plan and the space is too big. I think he's going to try a window a/c downstairs but after thinging about it again he may opt to not get one after all.
Dd did stop over. It was good to see her.
I made one pair of fingerless today and most of the second pair. I have about three rows to go and they're very short ones so it will take me only a couple minutes to finish the last glove.
Since this week will be pretty cool...low 70's.. I'll probably do some yard work or work in the garage or both. I hate taking time away from what I really want to be doing.
See you all tomorrow in the new week.
