Ruth, I will have to try freezing a Cherry see how it works. Do you de'seed yours? I do freeze Grapes and works well. I still have about 1/2 bag left of mine. but we have grapes and watermelon eating on to.
Mary, We should be so faithful on brushing P; But not often. now short hair doesn't need to.
Cool and nice out now. Rains cooled everything down big time. Think this tree in the front yard has grown another ft. or more. Church @ 10 w/joined services for a mo. After being used to early one this is a lot of sitting and walking the floor till time to leave. ha,ha. DH ask if I wanted to go get a camera today. I said yes. But think I want to wait till tomorrow. As I will ask for help to get it up "n" running. I have another idea we can do the trim, on the roof of garage ourself's, Not much to it at all. didn't have that done.
Enjoy this day~~~ Maerm~~

Quite the storm last night. Lots of wind and rain that lasted quite awhile. Temp dropped 20º in a short time and the wind picked up before the rain hit. I haven't heard how much rain we got but I heard nearby had 3 1/2" We didn't see any major storm damage on our walk this morning. Just a lot of twigs and leaves blown off the trees. Flash flood warnings all around. Watching our flag pole blowing in the wind I was surprised it didn't snap off how far it was being bent by the wind. Really nice walking this morning. It'll still be humid today but "only" in the 80's.
I've never frozen cherries. I do buy them frozen though. Just the dark sweet ones. They're so good. The red tart are too sour for me. I'd hate to have to pit them to freeze them myself. I know a lot of people love to freeze grapes but I don't like the texture after they're frozen.

Good Morning Marm and LTMs,
This morning we had a low of 71º and going up to 92º and mostly cloudy with winds light and variable. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible.
This morning we’ll go to church and then maybe go out to lunch somewhere or we may decide to just come back home.
Thanks to all of you on the June Tunes thread for the wonderful brunch you gave for me and my family. We all enjoyed it.
Yesterday our landlady and a man worked on redoing our walk up to the house. It is wooden and was rotting. They removed all the old wood and put in a new walk that looks much safer to walk on.
We still need to do changes of address and set up a bank account here, so we aren’t doing everything long distance. Maybe we can get that done Monday.
Ken wasn’t feeling well yesterday so we didn’t go out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We’ll check after church and see if he is up to doing anything today. They may want to wait until Jason is back from the wedding he attended this weekend and that would be OK with us.

Hello, all LTMs,
Thgis will be quick since I want to go out to the pool w/ DH. He just finished cutting half the grass. He has decided to do half one day, and finishe the next. We'd already spent an hour out there trimming a very large, very old hibiscus. They LOVE the heat & the rain! Needed to get it done before we go away for 10 days, or we would have needed a ladder to reach the top when we got back! I also did some laundry, things we wear often, but need to take w/ us.
We will have 90's all week w/ showers each day, most likely. This is typical Florida summer weather, and we relish the rain, since we will go months w/ hardly a drop in the winter. Right now, red tide is a BIG problem on our beaches w/ large fish kills & that makes the beach awful. We can finally get a parking place w/ the snowbirds gone & now, no one wants to go because of the red tide. Please pray we get some strong east winds to push it back off shore. It is naturally occurring in the Gulf, but when it gets close to shore, in the shallower water, it sucks out all the oxygen, gives off a toxin & kills the fish. Hoping this is over when we get back! It has never been this bad since we moved here 11 years ago!
Pool time. Have a great day!
Rose Marie

It's only about 10 degrees cooler here today & we still have high humidity. Better then it was & will be all week. We didn't get much rain to my disappointment. Just had a few sprinkles & might get more today. Guess I'll be watering tomorrow if not sooner.
I slept better last night but still awake too many times. I have been saying all along this is not like the other times I had pain. Now I'm thinking it isn't my sciatic nerve but the muscle that runs from my butt down my leg. It seems to tighten up overnight so whenever I move it hurts & I have a difficult time walking when I first get out of bed. Once I move around some there isn't much pain. DH & I went for a short walk this morning & it didn't bother whereas walking irritated the sciatic nerve. So, I may cancel my appointment with pain management but will wait till the end of the week to decide. Nothing like self-diagnosis(?)
Our friends from Texas called DH yesterday. He put the phone on speaker so I could get in on the conversation. They are volunteering in NM right now, as they have done for 5 years, but will be back in TX next winter. Now DH wants to take the train to TX again. It would help break up the monotony of winter & I imagine if nothing interrupts our plans like last year, we will go.
DH thinks we should "go for a ride" this afternoon. I like to have a destination in mind but there's nothing better to do. Bugs & humidity are too bad for me to sit outside & nothing on TV interests me. There aren't an abundance of bugs/mosquitoes lately but one is too many for me.
I may call tonight to make arrangement to see my DSis this week. I want to get that over with. I want to see her but until I do, it's just another thing on my list of "to do's".
Got our absentee ballots for voting in the August primary. I don't want to miss that. We have a long list of people running for governor. WI needs a change but I'm not so sure that will happen.

I watered my potted plants, pulled a few weeds & then hoed some. The hoeing was hard on my hip so I decided to try the heating pad on it. It sure feels good so hope it helps. Maybe ice would be better but that's not as easy to use.

Marm, mine are the dark sweet cherries and no I don't take the seeds out before freezing because as they're defrosting it's much easier to get the seeds out.
Marlene sorry about the back pain you're having. Yes I like heat best too but "they" claim ice is better. Sounds like you have hamstring strain.
I was out watering today also and cleaning debris out from under the deck. It's fire season now so we have to be careful at what is close to the house that sparks may fall onto.
Gareth, sounds like us wondering if our spruce tree is going to blow over and break. It has a thick trunk but winds can do a lot of damage.
Rose Marie, I'm glad your dh is taking it easier and doing only half at a time in mowing. I hope that red tide is gone by the time you get back from your trip. It has to smell horrible with all that dead fish on the beaches.
Marm, all my dianthus plants bloomed at the same time and now they've all died at the same time so I have only a couple blossoms now in the whole "pond". The frog I mentioned that's in there is made of hard rubber I think. He's pretty large and cute. I do have a turtle too. It's ceramic and is a mother turtle with a baby on it's back but it's not in the pond, in fact it's kind of hidden right now under a bush that's grown a lot since last year.

Just stopping in to say hello! I seem to have caught a grump because my foot hurts a lot today. It's early in the day for this much discomfort and swelling. I have been trying to move my toes after reading your comments about picking up marbles and putting them in a bowl. They won't move at all unless I reach down and move them manually. I'm beginning to wonder if the amount of numbness in my foot is normal. The tips of my toes are sensitive, but the ball of my foot is numb. The chances of picking up a marble are zero.
Yesterday my foot was elevated all day. There aren't any signs of infection. Any thoughts would be more than welcome!

It was just sprinkling a little when I got to church today. The friend I usually pick up declined going today with the forecast, and it’s a good thing because it was raining hard when we left church and went for lunch (and when we left the restaurant). She uses a walker and moves very slow. It would have been a disaster for her! Soon after I got home it cleared. Some of my plants on the deck got rained on, but some not. My large tomato plant did and that was good for it takes in a lot of water.
Tonight now I’m going out with family to celebrate the birthdays I mentioned before. I ate light for lunch, but came home still hungry so have been snacking on popcorn, cherries, etc. I won’t tell all! At least I shouldn’t be starved for my next meal. I see in the Aldi ad that they have the Ranier cherries on sale this week for 2.59. I’ll have to get some as my red ones are all gone now. I never have a problem eating what I have when fresh, so probably won’t freeze them, but thanks for all the info about them.
The dianthus I put into a couple small pots are still alive and blooming but aren’t doing well. I won’t buy them again . I can picture them doing better in the ground, like you mentioned Ruth. Have the fires ever come close enough to you to have made you leave the area quickly? They look so bad on TV, the California ones I think.
Doris, too bad you couldn’t go out last night for your BD with your son and family. I hope he feels well enough soon to go with you. I hope you hear good news about your truck load of belongings tomorrow, or very soon anyway. No wonder they were trying to take everything if they were stealing it. I pray that wasn’t the case, and that you will still get it.
Iowa looked very stormy on the weather news last night. Marm and Gareth, I’m glad that you didn’t have any bad damage in your yards! It doesn’t hurt the trees to lose a few little branches or leaves but when they fall and hit buildings, doing damage, that isn’t so good.
Time to leave soon.
PS Sorry about your foot Sue. I don’t have any advice except to say maybe you should call your doctor tomorrow. Maybe others here will know something.

Mary, now that I think about it I did plant some dianthus in a pot one year and they didn't do well at all. I'd love if they had Ranier cherries here for that price but they never do.I'm glad your friend decided to stay home. I'm sure one of you would have felt they had to stay with her and both would have gotten soaked.
Sue, I second what Mary said, call your doctor and she what he or she advises.

Oh forgot to say that I was so upset earlier because I went to water my rosebush and found that my old rose, the new rosebud and part of the plant were gone. That has never happened before. It had to have been a deer. I'm going to have to make a cage around it.

Gareth*, Yeah that wind was ah little frisky. Lucky nothing happened, nor here either.
Doris, Sounds like a good landlord getting things done that needs to be. Well maybe later will work out best for your BD dinner w/family.
Rose Marie*, Seems like you have to trim so often. A lot of work.
Marlene*, That's ah plus w/bugs,skeeters not as bad.
Sue, I agree, Think you should go to the Dr. have him check that out.
Mary, When I knew rain was coming I took some plants right out in the open to make sure watered.
Not much here going on. BBL~~ Marm~~

Ruth, Sorry I missed you. Maybe try watering your bushes w/the hot mix rain doesn't bother it either.-- not the buds, But might work anyhow.
