Ginny, I've had to take naps recently too. The warm weather makes me drowsy.
Yes socks especially thin ones have no weight at all so people are whining for no reason.
And yes, the heat plus the drying breeze and wind really dry the soil out fast. Some days we have to water twice, or if we don't the plants begin to wilt.

Hi everyone. I am distracted at the moment. Devin is watching the British baking show and I am trying to multi task. We had a very nice 4th and DGDs BF brought over a lot of fire works and we had our own show which lasted about an hour. He had some great fireworks and we sat out in the driveway. We could see other fireworks off in the distance.
Today I went to Knit Wits and I have been working on my waffle b/blanket. Other than that I have stayed home.
Phyl, congratulations on your weight loss. I think I could do with a trip to WW as I am getting into some of my bad eating habits.
Ginny, That's fun getting some new clothes for your trip. Health to wear, strength to tare and money to buy new ones. I am so glad you found some blue ribbon to save the day. I am sure the little girl looked beautiful. Hope you sleep better tonight.
cj, I would love some rhubarb. I have seen some in the store but I haven't priced it. I will do that when I make my next trip. I would love to grow my own but it is probably too hot here for it.
Ruth, The beach house we stayed at had deer come in the morning to the back of the house. The deer we saw were very young. It was nice to see them. Sometimes the people who own the house give them apples.
I have to go and get Devin to bed. He enjoyed the baking show so perhaps he will watch next week.
Hope you all have a good nights sleep.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here is beautiful!!! Sunny and in the high 70s (around 80) with a breeze. I have all the windows open and the fans going. It's so nice not to sit in a dark, closed up, warm house for at least one day in the Summer. I did go out and get some fruits and vegetables. At the one farm I went to I asked about rhubarb and they said it doesn't grow well around here. That was interesting. They didn't have any and neither did the Farm Market I went to. But I lucked out at the grocery store I went in. I bought 16 stalks of it I'll freeze some and the rest I'm stewing with some strawberries. I also bought some green beans, small potatoes, zucchini, tomatoes, blueberries, peaches and pears. I was a little worried it was too much food, but I'm going to use a lot of it to make Beef Barley Vegetable soup and I have the green beans and potatoes cooking now. I want to make a BLT tomorrow with one of the tomatoes, and I'm going to make Blueberry Pancakes too. I froze some of the blueberries, so I'll see how that works. The rest I'm eating in my yogurt today. I put the peaches in a brown bag so that they would ripen and I don't buy pears often so I have to see how to store them. Meg - That's neat that Devin likes the British Baking show, I really enjoy it. It always makes me want to bake something. Hope you all have a great day!

CJ it sounds as though you got some really great fruits and veggies while out. Most things freeze well. I've frozen blueberries many times. I just wash them and put into plastic bags and they end up perfect As for pears well they never stay good for me for long. It's best to use them as soon as they're ripe enough if not ripe when you bought them. It probably is "too hot" for rhubarb to grow here too but the neighbors have lots of it and it grows very well...maybe too well for them.
Meg, I'm glad you got to knitwits. I know you like being out with other women your age and enjoy sitting and knitting or crocheting with them. Sounds like you had a good 4th. Personal fireworks are not allowed here. There are many that do them anyway but you can receive a very stiff fine if caught.
It's very hot here today. We do have a nice breeze though and right now I'm just sitting in front of my fan and it feels fine. I have cooking done for the day and kitchen cleaned up so I'm all set to sit and crochet. I didn't do any crafting yesterday except for looking up a pattern for the clutch purse/makeup bag and still have to decide which one to make. I need to finish the kitty but I don't really care for the finishing work like weaving ends, sewing seams and I esp don't like putting the faces on but only because I haven't done that much and am not all that good at it. I'm debating on whether I should use safety eyes or embroidered eyes. It's for the 6 year old so no danger there but she does have the 7 month old brother so I'm concerned about her sharing the kitty with him or the eyes falling out and him finding one on the floor. You know how babies like to put things in their mouths. So for safety sake I probably will just embroider....don't want to take chances

Ruth, I could embroider the eyes.....to play it safe. Sorry you have so much heat- this summer seems to be very hot out.
We just got back from a wedding, so glad to be home... see ya tomorrow. Ginny

Ginny, that's what I thought too...when in doubt embroider. So that's been my crafting for today, watching youtubes of embroidering on eyes, noses and whiskers. I also looked at the makeup bags/clutch purses again trying to decide what one to make. It's only 10 so I could do some crocheting but I probably won't because I'm tired. I've been reading a book about the book of Daniel most of the evening.

Hi everyone, It has been a stay at home fay. DD was here for the afternoon and she was in a very good mood which made for a pleasant afternoon. I managed to get some time to work on my waffle b/blanket. It is going to take me awhile to get it finished. I also have another b/blanket that I am knitting and I need to work on that.
The temp. was about 101 this afternoon and DS and Devin went in the pool. I have a pool and it doesn't get used nearly enough.
cj, yes Devin enjoyed the British baking show but he has found another British show that he likes to watch, Britain has Talent. I think he follows it on U Tube. I heard him howling a little while ago because he thought it was so funny. I am going to see if I can find some rhubarb. I hadn't thought about keeping it in the freezer.
Ginny, I hope you enjoyed the wedding and that you get a good nights sleep.
Ruth, Sorry that you are feeling the heat. I think I would try to embroider some eyes you certainly don't want to use eyes that can come off if there is a small baby around.
Phyl, hope all is well.
I wish you all a good night.

Blessed Sunday all!
Ruth, a book about the book of Daniel.....you are a brave woman- that is some pretty heady stuff to take on at 10 pm! And yes, you could embroider the eyes, think I wrote I could embroider the eyes. Duh...what was I thinking? There is so much guidance out there online you will find some good instructions/pattern to follow to finish off your project.
Meg- glad Devin is enjoying that GBBS. (Thanks CJ for introducing us to it!). I guess each season there is a new cast of bakers- and you do find yourself developing a favorite. Hope that Devinโs favorite wins! Bet it was a nice day for you having Dd over and able to see her in a good mood. Its always nice when we can really enjoy our company.
The wedding was interestng. It ran very late, the service was almost an hour late, the pastor was ....well very different.....the music was TOO loud and the food was fair. So now that you all think I am a crab, I am not- we had a pretty decent time and made the best of all of the other factors. I helped out with my friends mom, who is mentally frail- The weather was lovely and for the bride and groom I am sure it was a really nice day.

Meg, It's great that Devin and your ds swam in the pool. They should do it more often. Do you swim? It is good exercise for everyone. Does Devin have other physical things he does for exercise.. Nowdays it seems that most children spend most of their time sitting with a tv or computer device and don't really get in much exercise at all. Yes rhubarb freezes well and when frozen can be used in the frozen state to make the sauce with or without strawberries to eat like that or use for filling for a pie or a crisp or cabbler and the rhubarb itself can be added right into muffins or other baked goods. Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that the wedding was not the best. Usually the wedding service itself is very short or are you saying it was late getting started. Is this the wedding the small girl was in? How did she do? Well when you said "I could embroider" I knew what you meant . We all make typos at times and not only that but most people have the auto correct and it sure does some strange things I've started Bible studies on the book of Daniel before but never really completed them. This book really makes it much easier to understand and it's also enjoyable to read. Parts are in story form but them he brings you back to the actual scripture and it's relavance to our lives today and in the future. It's wonderful how when we go back and read books of the Bible for even the 4th, 10th or even 20th.etc time, we always learn something new that God wants us to know.I love not only the scriptural truths but also the historical facts that are in the Bible.I especially loved seeing how king Nebuchanezzer came to realize that there is a true God and He is not one of the gold idols that the king had worshipped.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here is nice again, a bit warmer than yesterday but still tolerable without my AC on. I got all the fruits and vegetables cut up, cooked and stored yesterday. I made the soup and enjoyed some of it today. I have enough for a serving on Mon and Tues. I tried freezing it one time but didn't care for the texture of it, so now I just make it and eat in in 3 days. I made the Blueberry Pancakes this morning and remembered again that I don't really like Blueberry Pancakes I wish I would remember this and stop trying them every so often. I think it's more the idea of them and they look so pretty in pictures. But I mostly like my pancakes plain. The rhubarb-strawberry sauce came out nice and I'll probably stir it into vanilla yogurt. I also froze some more small bags of rhubarb so now I have some for the Winter. The green beans and small potatoes came out nicely too. I'm hoping to use a tomato tomorrow for a BLT. The other tomatoes seem to be very soft so I might have to use them for Stewed Tomatoes, which I like. I really wanted to make a small loaf of cinnamon raisin bread today so I tried a new recipe, I'll put the link below. I halved the recipe and added the raisins and cinnamon and it came out pretty good. I shouldn't really have baked it, but I've been a bit off plan so I figured this was a good time to eat some extra bread before I get back on track. www.mymundaneandmiraculouslife.com/foodie-fridays-easy-peesy-french-bread/I noticed lots of variations made my those who commented, even some gluten free changes. Just so you think my whole life is not just food , I am reading a book and I'll check out the blogs from the Slow Stitch Sunday posts later today. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone,
Another hot day here I think it is 101 this afternoon. DS and I went to the commissary this afternoon. We spent too much money. DS keeps putting things in the basket so I am going to have a talk with him. Today before we left I told him to stick with what was on the list.
This evening I will do some crafting and watch TV or read. Is Poldark on this evening? I will have to check.
Ginny, I am glad you got through the wedding and that it wasn't too bad. Hope you can rest today. I don't think Devin has a favorite baker on British Bakers show. He probably enjoys seeing how the make the cakes and wishing he could have a sample. You know how boys are.
cj, I bought some rhubarb today but it didn't look nice and crisp and fresh so I didn't buy too much. I have never had strawberries with rhubarb. We always made the sauce with just the rhubarb and ate it with custard or made pies with it.
Ruth, I hope you are enjoying your bible study. I was in s bible study group for years but most of them died. They were all older than me. There is a study group at church on Thursday morning. I did go for awhile but then I stopped going because I had so many Dr. apts. Maybe I will go back again.
I wish you all a good evening.
Ruth, it has been quite awhile since I studied Daniel

Good evening!
Meg, perhaps you and Ds ought to pay separately at the commisary- so he can pay directly for all the extra stuff that he wants to buy. Of course we all have to manage our finances and shopping habits our own way- whatever works for each household. Glad you found some rhubarb.....Think everyone has a favorite recipe for the stuff. My husband likes it in pies with strawberries.
CJ- had to laugh over your blueberry pancake story!I do not like blueberries in pancakes either. Its great that you got all your fruits and veggies cut up- that is half the battle, having everything all ready to go for when you need it. Nice job being organized! Did you get to check out slow stitch sunday?
Ruth- well Daniel is quite an undertaking no matter how its read.At my church I took an end times study- which was the book of Daniel and Revelation....of course I do not remember it all but it was very interesting and I am glad that at one time it all made sense to me. And you hit it on the head, every time you read the Bible a new truth pops out.....Gods word is new and fresh every day.
THe wedding was supposed to begin at 4 and started for real at almost 5. The grand kids of my friend, DGS and DGD- well DGS was way stressed out and over stimulated. He and his sister walked down the aisle with their parents...and they were adorable. The granddaughter was very funny and actually for a 2 year old, was well behaved.
Dh and I attended a lecture on local wild mints- (a relative of the peppermint family). Dh was interested in that, to see how the indians might have used and propagated it. Then we got home and ended up chatting with Ds and his gf, then Dd came home. Good to see each of them, but I got no crafting done.
Have a great evening....hard to believe its Monday tomorrow. G

Yes shopping is a chore when someone keeps putting things in the cart that you don't need. Maybe he was hungry when he went. That often causes a person to get things they were not intending to get.
CJ, I laughed at the blueberry pancake story also. I do like blueberry pancakes though. I haven't had a pancake in a few years. My dh likes waffles better than pancakes but we haven't had those either
Well I spent most of my day helping dh set up the bed with the new frame. We have been using an old waterbed frame with a Calif king mattress in it and finally decided to get rid of it and bought a new frame. After moving that...you can't move a waterbed frame easily... there was a lot of vacuuming to do and picking up of things that got under there since it was last moved. Now we have wheels on the frame so I thought it would move easily but it doesn't so I'm a little disappointed in it but there is more space in the room now so I'm happy about that. Needless to say I haven't done any crafting except before we started that project when I was again looking at patterns.
Meg, I think it was last week that you mentioned about all the things I make. Well I do talk about a lot of things but don't really get all that many made. For instance I mentioned the candy cane scarves and found that they are made in a strange way...kind of a modified corner to corner so I'm not going to make those I'm not sure if I'll make different scarves or just forget the whole thing and make them some different Christmas things or it could turn out that it will be only the Christmas tree skirt.
It was way hotter today than was forecast. Thankfully we got that air conditioner.
