Nice to see that your DGGS are wearing hats. I have made hats for my grandchildren, plus have some hats leftover from their childhood- hats knitted by my mom. But lots of time I see the kids with no hats, so I have some hats here just in case. Ruth I am sure that those hats will be very appreciated when donated. We are all bothered by the heat - but winter is 6 months from now, and it gets mighty cold!
I worked on the table runner- its going much more quickly than the one I made in class. WIll work on getting the prarie points spaced, then attach the backing tomorrow. Yes, I crafted!!!!

Hi, just a quick post before I go to bed. It was overcast here today which made it a bit humid. We don't usually get much humidity here. I went to Knit Wits today and worked on the blanket I am knitting. I have just been lazy this evening and now I am tired. I have been sleeping better this week.
Ruth, You are really patient taking the time to get the eyes just right. But it keeps you busy and out of trouble.
cj, you are right getting a house cleaned out and ready for sale is a big job. I have moved a lot over the years. When DH was in the USAF the military moved us so that helped but we still had to leave our base housing spotless. Sometimes I think about selling this house but the thought of getting rid of so much stuff puts me off so I will stay a little longer.
phyl. you suggested that cj should move to Monterey, Ca. I think that the homes there would be expensive but the temp. would probably be nice. Further up the coast would probably be cheaper though any where along the coast here is expensive. Hope you are well.
Ginny, I hope your DD gets the job she was interviewed for. My DD who lives in Florida waited for weeks to hear whether she got the job she was interviewed for. She did get the job but it is frustrating having to wait.
Now I am off to bed with my Nook.

Happy Saturday!
Meg, so good to hear that you are resting better and getting a good nights sleep. It sure makes for a better day when sleep depravation is not a factor. Did you begin work on another new blanket? For some reason i thought you were almost done with a blanket, so perhaps this is a new project. But then I do remember that you like to have two blankets going at the same time to prevent boredom. I hope that your book is a good one- I figure you are on the Poldark series. Do you think you will see Dd this weekend?
Well, I got a little bit more done on the table runner, and hope to finish it in a little bit. If I do not finish it today I ought to get it done in the next day or so. I spent some time this am watering outside, we need rain so badly. I put in shrubs about 2 months ago- watered them a lot in the beginning and sort of forgot about them. Well, I will resume watering them every other day. We put a lot of money into them and I do not want to lose them. My area is not due for rain for awhile.
Thanks for the good wishes regarding our DD and her possible employment. We still do not know for sure, but it does look as though she did not get the position. She will keep busy in the fall substitute teaching (if she did not get this position) and preparing to start her masters.
Happy Saturday! Ginny

Yes I won't complain about the heat because I do dislike the complications of cold and snow. Not enough to move somewhere where there is not snow...every area has it's own problems
Meg, It's great that you got to Knitwits. Did you get the crochet blanket done? You must have quite a stack of them to donate by now.
Ginny, congratulations on getting so much or maybe by now, all of the table runner done. It's a great feeling when something is finished and you can stand back and enjoy your finished product.
We used to move a LOT. Finally bought a house and stayed about 5 years and then moved here and have been here 28 years. Both dh and I moved a lot while we were children so dh says he's never moving from here because he's never been in one house this long. Of course now that we're getting older he's realizing that we may have to move at some point. As I said to my neighbor, you spend all your life and save money to buy a house for your old age then when you hit that age you realize that it may turn out to be too much work for you when that time comes. There's also the transportation issue if you live where there is no public transportation and/or you live too far from stores and medical care and you can no longer drive maybe due to vision issues or something.
Ginny, I hope your new bushes do well and thanks for reminding me that I have to go out and water. The rain we've been getting is unusual for us so we must be getting your rain.
CJ, I hope you're having a great weekend. And Phyl too

Meg, sometimes I think I'm being too fussy about how I make things. On the old knitting thread some of us mentioned how we couldn't stand leaving a mistake and I think I'm getting better at doing that now if the mistake can't actually be seen by anyone but me but when I do something new like these faces on stuffed animals I want them to be right...at least at first.I may become more relaxed about them at some point but for now I just want to learn how to do them properly.Dh keeps telling me that I shouldn't worry about them so much because the grands will love them anyway.
I don't know if I mentioned it but dh said he loves the mountain land scarves I made. I kept seeing him watch me working on them and he didn't say anything so I thought he must not like them and didn't want to say but then one day he said how much he liked them and mentioned that he liked both colors too. Thanks again, Ginny, for sharing at pattern.
Oh and today one of the crochet bloggers I get newletters from announced a CAL that will provide a new hat pattern every week for free. I probably have some of the patterns but I may end up making more hats if there are some patterns I really like

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your weekend I wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts/suggestions/support regarding me getting stuff out of my house and moving. I know that once I can figure out where I want to go it will be easier to clear the junk out It's been warm here, in the low 90s, but not too humid. My fans and AC units have been keeping it fairly comfortable, better than last year so I must have a good system going now. I taped a few quilting/sewing shows this morning, so I'll be watching them this afternoon. I enjoyed the GBBS last night. It was so funny to hear them talk about "American" pies. It shows how the British think about our pies. It seems that we make them a lot sweeter than the British do. I tried the Ice Cream Bread recipe today (only half a recipe), it was just O.K., nothing spectacular. I did only use Vanilla Ice Cream but I put in a bit of vanilla flavoring and some chocolate chips and that helped. I think using a flavored ice cream would probably be better. Take care everyone!

Hello to you all, it has been an uneventful day for me. It was hot so I just stayed home. No crafting just been reading.
Ruth, I haven't finished the crocheted b/blanket and I am also knitting one so I switch back and forth. I have 6 b/blankets finished and I need to pass them along, or I may hold on to then until the weather is colder.
Ginny. the b/blanket I am crocheting had to be ripped out twice. I have made several b/blankets using the waffle stitch and I don't know why I had trouble with this one. But it is going fine now. I don't think kids like wearing caps. I have knit caps for Devin and he never wears them. I notice that kids here don't wear caps if they don't have to. But then it does not get as cold here. I have a cap around here somewhere that needs to be finished.
cj, trying to clear out your house in the heat is not fun. I have done that a few times. I wish you luck. Deciding what to do is a big decision.
Phyl, I hope you are holding up in the heat.
Good night. Sleep well.

BLessed Sunday all!!
Meg, Its good to hear that you have overcome whatever the challenge was with the crochetted baby blanket. Sometimes even as simple as using a different yarn or a different color yarn can make things more difficult. Years ago I made a ripple afghan- 3 different colors of the same yarn. One color was always a challenge to work with. You sure are a prolific crochetter! 6 baby blankets to donate is quite something and shows what a big heart you have. I know some who think its nuts to make donated items like that, but think we all know what a blessing a handmade item can be to someone else...you never know what an impact your handmade item might be in the hands of a stranger.
CJ- glad you have some good shows taped to watch! It sure makes things more pleasant when a good show is there and ready to watch. Congrats on being able to stay comfortable this summer!! Did you move the location of a fan or the airconditoner this year? Thanks for the heads up on the ice cream bread recipe. I was thinking about making it at some point, but now will probably not bother. If you were not impressed with it then the recipe is probably not all that good. Perhaps just a good way to use up leftover ice cream.
Ruth, your dh sounds like such a sweetie, this is not the first time he has told you how much he likes your home made items!! Just for the record, I will be putting the mountain land scarf on hold for a little, as I think I want to move onto the baby afghan next (for my great nephew). Well I agree with you about perfection- on the face of a handmade item I can see that it is important that you make something that you are proud of. Your hand made items are wonderful heartfelt gifts....that being said, if I were to make a mistake in the middle of an afghan that it would take a nit picky trained eye to find, well then that mistake will stay there. My mom, however would rip out many rows to get one tiny mistake out. Yes I respect your input on how and where to live as we age. Moving is a daunting task. I had no idea you and Dh moved to your present location that long ago! For some reason, I thought you were there only 10 years (approximately).
Did not finish the table runner but am getting close. Other plans that we had interfered....so perhaps later I can finish it. Its a bit cooler today, but very humid. Last night we got some much needed rain- thank you Lord for that!!

, I remember back in the VCR days I used to tape Jeopardy but then when we got various tv services such as Dish, Direct, and Cable we never had a dvr until we got Direct and I sure love it. As Ginny said, having programs that you like recorded and available to watch when you're ready to sit and relax is wonderful. I'm glad your a/c and fans are keeping you comfortable. Meg, yes it's best to just stay inside out of the heat when you can. I wasn't out long yesterday at all..just long enough to water the plants and that was way too long for me. Yes you sure have done your share for the poor. Ever since I knew you on the old board you've been making blankets. Yes someone asked me how did I know people aren't taking the things you donate and selling them. Well I don't know and I don't really care. God tells us thru the Bible that we need to help those that need it and we are only responsible for our part. What they do with what is given to them is on them.As far as having to rip out, well I've certainly done my share of doing that. There's still a scarf pattern that I started many times and still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong so when I get time I'm going to try it again. I can't leave a challenge unconquered . And that mountain land scarf I started over several times before I got it right. Yes dh is a sweetie but like everyone else he has his grumpy times too esp when his blood sugar gets low. Last night I finished the kitty and at first he looked at it strangely but he did say he liked it and he wondered who it was for and if I put a rattle inside. Well I didn't but I think I need to make one for my soon to be 1 year old dggd. Her birthday is coming up fast. Ginny, you'll finish the table runner and it will be beautiful. And I do think it's a good idea to do the baby blanket first. It's a gift you want to have done at a certain time and blankets do take time. It will feel good to have it done and ready when your neice has the baby.Of course overcoming the challenge in the mountain land scarf with be rewarding too. Trust me, you'll be amazed when you finally get it. My kitty, as I said, is done and I think it looks pretty nice. I did put the eyes on too high I think but what I like is that I never embroidered a face before and it came out really well I think. I'm especially pleased with the mouth. The pattern didn't even call for a mouth but I wanted it to look like a happy cat so I made one and when I put in the first stitches it didn't look very good so I though, hmmm, lets make a stitch here, and that really worked. I was amazed! Yes I do believe God helps us even in these little things and I thank Him. This kitty is for my little "pen pal" who I got a letter from yesterday actually I found my message!!! So here it is before it disappears again

Good evening!
Ruth, how sweet that you have a little pen pal! (Reminds me of my Dd#2 and my mom.....)the kitty sounds adorable, and I am sure she will love it! How awesome that the mouth turned out so cute. And I agree, its a good thing to be thankful for all things, both little and big. Hey, congrats on finding your message again! What a bummer when these posts get lost in cyberland. On the original WW site tons of posts were lost mid -day when the site was busy and many were trying to post or log in. Its also such a nice thing that your Dh appreciates being married to such a crafty woman.
Guess I am a bit shocked that folks might think of selling hand made items for profit. Hand made items donated to the right agency should not be a problem at all and will be given to those in need, I would think.
Dd and DSIL stopped over with the “circus acts”- otherwise known as our grandchildren. It was good to see them....so no crafting for me today. Will have to finish that table runner tomorrow. Ginny

Well as much fun as crafting is it had to be great to see the dear grandchildren. At their ages they are so cute. You can always do the table runner tomorrow as you said. The grands probably wore you out also so by now you're probably sound asleep.
Well you all are going to think I'm crazy but those eyes were too high so I took them off and then decided I didn't really like them too much even at the lower site although they did look pretty good so I thought I'd take another look online and I did find some really nice ones. I made them and they're ready to be sewn on. Interesting pattern though because it was in Dutch so I had to hit the translate button and the pattern came up using some British crochet terms and some US so I used what I though was right and the yes did turn out cute but it wasn't easy making them with embroidery thread and such a small hook 1.8mm. Still I think it was worth it. I also made hte second kitty which came out smaller because for the first I used chunky yarn but this is for the soon to be one yr old so it needs to be small. I have it all done except the face.
Pattern actually calls for the face to be made before you stuff the head and sew the seam and attach the head to the body. Well I think it's much better to wait till the head is on because then you don't make that mistake of getting the facial features too high like I did with the eyes. Dh said he did like hte other but almost everyone with eye patterns has you put that white speck on and he thought the white speck looked strange in that it made the cat look cross eyed. He never used to take any interest in my crocheting so about 3 or 4 years ago when he started to do so I was very surprised and very pleased needless to say
Pattern has quite a few parts but not as many as some...it has the body, head, two feet, two arms and a tail so not bad at all.
Have a great night all. Meg and I are still in evening
See ;you tomorrow in the new week
