Good morning all and happy new week. I hope you all have a great one.
Hot here again for two more days then we get a little reprieve for a couple days
This morning I found a wonderful video on crocheting the prettiest eyes to sew on projects so those are the ones I'll put on the cat. I just need to find some lighter weight yarn in my stash so that I can make them the same size.

That is great that you found some eyes that are pretty and do- able. Somewhere in your stash you must have a yarn of the right color that will work for the application.
Its hot here too. I just do not like this weather. Sorry for sounding like a crab about it, but its draining to be in the heat all the time and I am tired of listening to the airconditioner whine. Fortunately the nights are a bit cool.
Dd came over today with the grandchildren- of course it was good to see them. We will be over there again for a little while tomorrow, Dh has to fix a plumbing issue and I hope to get to use my Kohls cash.
Gonna get in my jammies and start working on the layout of the table runner.Think I need to play with fabric for a few days. Hope everyone had a good day Ginny

Hello Ginny. Wonder where our partners in crafting are today. Busy I guess. Yes playing with fabric sounds like a great idea since you have the ideas already for a table runner.I hope you'll show us a picture of it when it's done.Well we have about two more months of hot weather...that is if fall comes as scheduled. I'm going to not complain about the heat and enjoy the lack of worrying about pipes freezing and not being able to get out if needed due to snow. That should keep me cool. So sit and think about penguins and it will cool you off Well I didn't make the eyes today but I officially decided that Monday is the new "finish it Friday" so I finished htat pair of fgs that I found that I hadn't finished and wove in the ends and then sewed on some of the appliques. I think I have 4 more pairs of fingerless to sew appliques on and they will be done.I had to make new appliques for two of them because I changed my mind on what I wanted to put on. Next I have to finish youngest dgd's alphabet bead bracelet..have to put on the fasteners, and her kitty which are what the eyes are for. I might start the ohter dgd's makeup bag/clutch purse and have two things in progress. I do need something sitting around to pick up in odd moments or I waste that time. I hope that Meg, CJ, and phyl are all having a good evening and that you, Ginny are all comfie in your jammies and have figured out the layout you want for that table runner. See you all tomorrow

Hope you have had a happy Monday. I didn't sleep well last night which meant I did not get early this morning. I did get some chores done round the house. The temp today was 101 so I was happy to stay home. I worked on the b/blanket that I am knitting last evening. I would like to get that finished.
Ruth, that is great that you found a video to help you make the eyes for your project. Sounds like they will work very well.
Ginny, How nice to spend time with you DGkids. Now that you are not working you will have more time to enjoy them and I am sure your DD will appreciate any help you can give. I hope you find something really nice to spend your Kohls cash on.
cj, hope you are keeping cool.
Stay cool and sleep well.

Meg, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't sleep well. I had a very hard time getting to sleep myself. I still woke up at the same time though. Never seems like I end up sleeping later. I always think that means I'll sleep better that next might but that rarely happens.I've tried melatonin that many people take but it doesn't help at all.I sure hope you can sleep well tonight. I'm glad you were able to just stay home and not have to go out when it was 101

Ok the darn web site just reloaded and of course lost my post in the process.
Meg, the one good thing about a bad nights sleep is that you usually sleep better the next night- which I hope is the case! How close are you to completeng that baby blanket?
Ruth- you always seem to have a great project to finish and as odd as it sounds when we are all in hot weather, fall is not that far off.....and those fg will be welcome then. Aphabet bead bracelets are adorable....of course I remember when they were the standard for babies in a hospital instead of those plastic/tyvek bracelets that they use now.
I ended up not doing much in the way of crafting- but did reaquaint myself with the pattern I will be using. I ended up watching the SCOTUS announcement last night...then going to bed.
Heading over to Dd’s later this am- DSIL tried to repair a plumbing issue and is unable to finish the job. So Dh will have to take care of that- and I will be able to go near Kohls.
Have a good day G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I don't sleep well anymore either, it sure makes me appreciate how fortunate I was to be such a sound sleeper when I was younger. Some nights I dread going to bed since I know I'll probably be tossing and turning a lot. I've just been hanging around the house, reading and watching TV. I've been enjoying eating the vegetables and fruits I prepared over the weekend. The cinnamon raisin bread came out good too and I enjoyed it. I saw a "crazy" recipe for Ice Cream Bread and thought you all might enjoy reading about it: www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/ice-cream-bread/dailydishrecipes.com/ice-cream-bread-two-ingredient-recipes/tasty.co/recipe/ice-cream-breadIt's an interesting concept and sounds like it's something that would be fun to try with children. Take care everyone!

Ginny, you're very smart to reacquaint yourself with the pattern before you start. Many crochet patterns actually have a suggestion to read thru the whole pattern before you start and I rarely do that.I wonder if the nominee for SCOTUS will be approved by congress. There are so many negative people and they've already had protestors gather.
CJ, you do find the most interesting links. I like, too, that you've actually made some of these things like the bread you posted the link for the other day. I want and looked at it and from the picture it looks as though the loaf didn't have a good texture but since you've tested it I would say it is better than that picture show it to be.
This is the last hot day for a few and the week after next is to be cool the whole week so it will be conducive to doing more work including yard work but of course that doesn't please me much since I'm lazy. I like the work to be done but don't like doing it. I think we all feel that way to a certain extent. Of course when we do things it does give us a feeling of accomplishment.
Ginny, enjoy those grandchildren. I know your dd andsil are really happy that your dh knows how to take care of those plumbing issues.

Hello everyone, It is another hot day. High will be 101 this afternoon. I went out to lunch to a Chinese restaurant that I had not visited before. I pass it all the time but just didn't look interesting. From the outside it doesn't look great but I enjoyed the food and they gave us really large helpings so I will probably go again. I guess don't judge a book by the cover. I brought most of my meal home. I usually go out to dinner on Tue evening but I think I have had enough food for today.
Right now I am sleepy as I didn't sleep well last night so I should sleep tonight. This evening I hope to do some knitting and listen to a book.
Ginny, sorry you lost your post. I hate when that happens. I hope you had not written too much. Your DD id lucky that her DD can help with the plumbing. It is expensive to call a plumber.
cj, sorry you are not sleeping well either. I am thinking maybe I should get a new bed.
Ruth, I take Melatonin at night I am not sure whether it helps or not. Right now I could fall asleep. I wish you all a good evening.

Good evening,
Meg, so glad that the chinese restaurant was good!!! I would think that on the West coast, you can get decent chinese food. (As CJ probably can also not being too far from Washington DC where most international foods are excellent). Do you have a favorite chinese food? Great that you had leftovers too- enough to enjoy tomorrow. Sleep well tonight.... I hope you can sleep uninterrupted and wake up refreshed.
Ruth, good thing that you are in for cooler weather! Save the yard work for then- when its not so torturous. Start small.....and when you have had enough change and do something else. No sense stressing out about it. Now, I do not get it- I know people who love the smell of dirt, and find weeding or playing in the dirt relaxing. What am I missing here?? Fabric and yarn are so much more fun to play with.
CJ- I love Taste of Home for recipes!!! That icecream cake sounds interesting. Not sure it I will try it though. WHat I love about their site is that most of the recipes are made using normal ingredients, not some wierd ingredient that you have to buy for the recipe and will never use again. Hope you can sleep well tonight... when are cooler temps headed your way?
Now for me, I have tried Melatonin and benadryl. When I was working, and I needed at least 5 hours of sleep to be safe to drive, I used to take benadryl (2) if i was desparate to fall asleep and was having a tough go of it. Melatonin I never had much luck with.
I worked on the layout of the table runner. First I tried following how the pattern designer had the fabrics ....and then got the first table runner I made from the same fabrics. After looking at that , I decided that I liked how I arranged the fabrics better than the designer, so I will put it together the way I prefer. Hope to get the sewing started tomorrow.
Have a good night Ginny

Meg, dh and I both love Chinese food but haven't had any in quite awhile now. Of course we can't get authentic Chinese food here really but what they have we do like. I think the crab ragoons are wonderful and also the egg rolls. It's strange that I like the crab ragoons because I don't really like crab but I doubt they have much crab in them. And I like the old standbys...sweet and sour anything. And I do hope you're able to get some rest tonight. When I first took melatonin I took only 1 or maybe it was 2 mgs. Now I have 5mg capsules and it still doesn't help. I know some people do take 10. Can't take benadryl. It actually keeps me awake and intensifies my leg "twitches"
Ginny, I do think that if you like the way you did it before go ahead with your own ideas. Patterns, to me, are only guides and are meant to be revised as we like.
Now reviewing a pattern like we were talking about earlier...well I should have read this whole pattern on the clutch purse I'm working on. I misinterpreted but am now back on track
We did do some yard work earlier...watered all the plants but then, of course it rained. Yesterday we put off watering until later and it rained then too but we also got more of that large hail yesterday. Luckily it didn't do much damage.
I just looked at the title of our thread and can't believe that this coming Sunday is already the miiddle of July. Time sure goes by fast these days.

Crazy to think that July is almost half over!!! I was just thinking that - realizing that our fall travel plans must be secured soon or things just will not work out. I would never take 10 melatonin. THink once I read that its not meant as a cure all- and that large quantities are not good for you. Gee, who can tell the difference between taking 9 pills and 10?
Ruth good to hear that you got some yard work done, usually yard work is a bit of a work out....and of course its a good idea to keep active when you can. Hey, please send some rain our way! Its way too dry. Yes, sweet and sour anything is good, I enjoy that from time to time.
Dh and I went for a hike- and now he wants to walk in a little bit....fine with me, and the excercise is a good thing of course. Tomorrow my friend wants to go to Joanns.....they have pound of love on sale, and so I will get some for the baby afghan.
Have a wonderful evening. Ginny

I read that too Ginny, so since it doesn't help I'm not going to take it anymore. Why add anything that even has a potential for harm if it's not doing anything good.
It's great that you found a sale just when you need the pound of love. Are you going to get the same color. I never really cared for some of the Pound of Love but the antique white seems much softer than the other colors. I really like it. I wish we still had a Joanne's. They keep building new things here why not a Joanne's or a Michaels?
I defrosted one of our little refrigerators today. The ice that had built up was unbelievable but since it's hot the defrosting didn't take long... long enough but probably a much shorter time than it would have in the winter. Haven't got to any crafting except to straighten up my "craft center" here in the living room. It still could use a little more work so will get to that soon and after that I'll finish that clutch bag. I have the body of it all done and just need to make the "hand strap" and crochet up the sides and weave in ends and that will be done so both of the handmade things for the Sept birthday girl will be done. Then I'll work on the things for dgs. Hatching dinos, a larger stuffed dino and a carry bag to carry his dinos or his hotwheel cars around in. An "ahaa" minute just hit me. Maybe instead of making those tiny dinos which could end up being a lot of work, I could make just make the eggs. I already have a big tube of molded dinos so I could just put one of those in each egg instead of giving them to him as a separate gift. I'll have to think about that one and look at those dinos again to see what size they are. I know they're not as small as the "shooter guys" as my oldest grandson used to call those army guys you could buy where you got about 1000 of the little plastic guys in one bag.
The hike sounds great Ginny and another walk on top of that....great exercise! I wish I could get my dh to walk with me. He could use the exercise for sure
Meg, CJ, Phyl, I hope you're all having a great day also. Remember that old song that said "enjoy yourself, it's later than you think"?

Well, Dh and I ended up watching a movie that we rented from the library....so I will get a very short walk in with the little bit of day time.
Well, I will be at Joanns tomorrow and will buy more of the antique white yarn. By now they probably know the baby’s gender, but I do not know yet. I love the antique white and will go with that.
Ruth, how well I remember the “shooter guys”- gee they were tiny!! Think that is a great idea to make the eggs.....and of course to put in the dinos!!
Do not remember which song said that, but I will agree- I have to work on the enjoying myself. I do love life, but need to cherish the moment more I think. Hoping that as retirement sets in I can get a little more time for myself.
Yes, that is why I take melatonin rarely. I forget what they considered bad in it, but I figured it was not worth putting a lot in my body to risk. My friend takes the stuff every night...not sure how good an idea that is.
Have a wonderful night Ginny
