luanne, linda72, thanks but it did track for a while after making lifetime again. I'll ask them to link again No if they would quit asking me to rate their app.I've given good and bad ratings, doesn't help

So how do they know who uses the app and who needs to have them wrote down the weight and points for the week? Actually this discussion just spurred me to look at MFP and the Lose It apps, so thanks for that! You write them all.

I like my meeting, it's a social event for me and my accountability. So if they go online, how does a lifetime member get free etools? Just saying that I made lifetime in 85, gained, lost, gained, lost but I always came back to WW. I think lifetime members are going to get ignored in this new regime

I think lifetime members are going to get ignored in this new regime I think you're right, Linda. There will be more changes announced and I think LT membership will be addressed. After all, we aren't the desired demographic and we're hardly bringing any money to their table.

So if they go online, how does a lifetime member get free etools? This thought wandered through my mind yesterday. Along with its companion thought - if it's all on-line and self-weighed, how will there ever be confirmation of reaching GOAL and LIFETIME again? Or will it just be a continual-pay-for-life?

I think lifetime members are going to get ignored in this new regime The flip side of this is how many members will stop paying if they don't have the "lifetime" goal. That has always been a huge motivator for folks. Instead of striving for the ever important WW goal, they will plateau and wander off to find the next great diet. Not to mention the recidivists who come back to reattain their free status, but pay along the way. When they offered the "lose 10 lbs" and get money back (or something like that) how did they handle the online members? Wasn't there a way they could document? Wouldn't that work for online lifetime status?

There has been so much discussion I may have missed it, but why is everyone talking about WW like they're doing away with meetings? It seems to me like they are just making a couple of changes - what did I miss? We're all old school (for the most part). We take the 'weight' in Weight Watchers at face value. New regime doesn't because they see where things are going long term. And that's what stock prices are based on. Busy mom has a 401k that needs pumping up. This exactly. Things change and companies have to look at the future not linger in the past the way WW had been doing for years. And someone over there clearly knows what they are doing. The financial recovery that WW has made is nothing short of amazing, and if it had to change in order to survive then so be it.

I may be missing something, but for me, there's still the question that without the meetings, what will WW be offering that isn't already better AND free? The meetings is what makes WW stand out from all the rest. Shaking my head here.

I wi this morning and got a new book which the receptionist filled in. I mentioned the question of writing in weight. They said they would continue to write the weight in the books. We’ll see since everything else has come to pass. The line didn’t end until halfway through the meeting. Still only 2 weighers although very full meetings. As I said, we’ll see...

I'm an online member and willing to pay the $20/month for the app (I've never even looked at the website). I'm not interested in counting calories and I haven't researched other options out there besides the calorie counting apps like MFP.
ETA: maybe I'm the sucker who isn't using something better and free!

She's merely commenting on my assertion that they should close meetings. Not saying they actually are.

I think there is some skim reading going on here. I said they should close meetings if they want to be more profitable I am nowhere saying they did close meetings. Not all of them anyway.

jae-I thought I read it here. My apologies. As far as I can tell, like Fin said, I think she made a couple of offhand comments about how they should stop offering meetings and somehow it snowballed into meetings being discontinued even though that's not close to what's actually happening. But you're not the only one who is confused.
