good morning crafters, yesterday we went to visit bernice at rehab. she had knee replacement. bernice is doing fine. bernice stated talking gardening and polantaning.
ruth this is what I Found out.course it was with cucumbers and Don thinks it might be the same for zunnichi. the male and female are on the same vine and look alike. now the female will have a little pickle behind it and that is the one you will polanate.
so I suggest looking at your plants and see if there is like a bulge or lump behind one.that would be the female.
I need to figure out what to take to the sew day tomorrow. Kathy said to bring my russian santas and they would help me with it.think I have lost interest in the project.
I have to much money tide up in it quit now.
also need to figure out what I would want to sew. don't want to embroiderer all day.
I did look at the chirstmas blocks by pat. I am thinking about it. I am so far behind in my own projects I don't know for sure.
have a happy monday. phyl

Thank you Phyl, So I did go out and check the blossoms and yes, they are all males. No little bumps or anything to show that any are female blossoms. I hope you come up with an inspiration on what would be interesting to take to sit and sew. It's frustrating when we have a lot of money tied up in a project then we get tired of working on it. Sometimes, though, some things just have to be set aside for awhile. And I'm glad Bernice...is that a friend?...Is doing well in rehab.
Yes it is hard to believe that day after tomorrow will be August already. I thought of another reason I like summer a couple days ago and it's because my hands look like real hands in the summer. They don't have discolored rough and sore areas caused by the Raynauds during the summer. It was better when the Raynaud's was only in my toes.No one ever saw them.
I did a bit of finishing work yesterday and got the head and all the legs, fins or whatever you call them, all made so they're ready to sew on and put on the shell, little dots for eyes and the turtle will be done.
I don't know if moving furniture is on the agenda for today or not or if we will procrastinate some more. I'm all for procrastinating although it will be nice to have the room painted.
I got up too early today too. Power went off in the night so the clock wasn't right and I had no idea what time it was so got up and found it was too early. By that time I was upstairs so didn't bother going down and back to bed. I'll probably need a nap.

Well I started a response before and poof!!!! Its lost in cyperland
Phyl- so nice that you got to spend time with Bernice. How much longer is she supposed to be in rehab for her knee replacement? That stinks about your Santaโs- but I think its common that sometimes projects just become too overwhelming for some reason or another. How nice of your friend to assist in finishing them- and i bet when they are done you will love them and be glad you finished them!
Ruth- were you able to get a nap in? Congrats on getting all the body parts ready for assembly- bet this turtle sure is cute!! Indeed, Raynauds is one reason to dislike winter and the cold....how soon into winter does the discoloration set in? Does it interfere with your ability to use your hands? Sleep well tonight. Hope you have a good evening
Went out for breakfast with a former coworker today, then Dh and I ran a bunch of errands. Got a LOT done- and I am glad we are home. I did crochet a little bit this am. THink my evening project will be to finish painting the stair risers. I did the 6 steps up last night and now have to do the 6 steps down. From when we had the floors refinished last fall, the risers need freshening up- and I have wanted to do this for several years. What I got done last night looks so much better.
Hi to CJ and Meg Ginny

Ginny, I know it sure feels good to get so much done in a day. I bet your stair risers look really nice and go along with your redone floors.
Last year was the first year my fingers were affected by the Raynaud's. Before that it was only the toes, so I don't know how far into winter it will be before they're affected. I don't remember when it started last year. It doesn't really affect me using the fingers so I don't know what I'm complaining about. They are a little bit painful but you know how that is since you've experienced that yourself.
I got the turle done and yes he is really cute. Now I've started a shark. I finally found a shark pattern for the size I want. It's free and also has a video. Some people are very generous and it takes a lot of time to design a pattern I'm sure.I do make sure I thank them for their generosity. It certainly is appreciated although some people act like they don't appreciate all the effort these people go to and some even make nasty remarks about some patterns.
Now I want to find a killer whale pattern but if I don't I think I can use this shark pattern and just make a couple changes. I keep finding more sea animals that I want to make.
No didn't get in a nap after all. Maybe I'll go to bed earlier

Just a quick post before I go to bed. It has been a long day. I had an appointment to get injextions in myryrs this morning and that went well. It was a little cooler today. It was in the high 90s and will be for a few says. This has been a hot summer we usually get a break between hot spells. Yesterday was aull overcast day because of the smoke in the air. I do feel for those poor fire fighters up in the Redding area.
I have done some crocheting this evening and I listened to an audio book. I haven't listened to a book for awhile. I have just been reading books which means I don't get any crafting done.
Phyl. I am glad your friend is doing well recovering from knee surgery. Going to rehab is a good idea.
Ruth, sorry your power went out. Not a good thing to happen at this time of the year. I hope you find a killer wale pattern.
Ginny I am glad you were able to meet a co worker for breakfast. Good idea to keep in touch.
I am sneezing so I am going to take someing and go to bed and read myself to sleep.

Ruth the ever creative one! I am sure that somehow you can modity the shark pattern to look like a killer whale. Think just by changing the colors a bit and you would be halfway there. Congrats on getting the turtle done too!! Hope you slept well last night.
Meg- so glad your eye injections went well and that today was a bit cooler for you. I heard something on the long range forcast that you are in for hot weather for awhile... and I am so saddened by all the losses from the fires in California . Glad you are in a safe area....how far is Redding (approximately) from you?
Busy am- took Dh to the doctor for what we are not sure. He has some aches and pains- but it could be yard work achyness and perhaps not Lyme. They tested for lyme but also are treating a very large red spot on his arm which might or might not be cellulitis.
Got some crochetting done in the waiting room. Now off for a walk to pick up his antibiotics. Ginny

Meg, I'm glad it was a little cooler anyway for you to go out to get the eye injections. It's nice you were able to find a good audio book to listen to so that you could crochet and listen at the same time.
Ginny, so sorry to hear that your dh is not feeling well. I'm glad they were able to get him in at the doctor. Maybe on your walk the other day something bit him and he didn't realize at the time. I hope the antibiotic will fix the spot whatever it is and also the aches. Lyme disease is yet another thing we wanted the doctors to test dh for but they never did. He used to go hunting back in NY so was around deer ticks.Guess he didn't have it though or would be in really bad shape by now.
I don't really want to paint today but it would be good to get it done.

well the painting was really a challenge. First the paint, when opened, turned out to be a much different color that the smudge on the top of the can showed. It was also way too dark but we used it on two walls anyway and found that it must have been defective paint because no matter what we did it didn't really cover and went on unevenly. So we went to plan B. Opened a can of paint that we've had for years. It turned out it was beautiful paint so we used that. It was a lot of work and exercise climbing up and down on the ladder and bending to do along the floor. Dh did the rolling. We haven't got everything back in place yet and we still have a little over half the room to do. It's a fairly large room. We hadn't intended to do the whole thing and we actually got more done than we though. So we're both resting now and in a minute I'll go and pick up the tarps and dh will put the bed back in place. Then maybe tomorrow I'll do the cutting in at the ceiling and floor of the wall we hadn't even intended to do today. Dh already did the rolling part so just the ceiling and floor area is all that's left right there. It really looks nice and will look nicer yet when we get it completely finished by doing the other half of the room. Tomorrow dh will put the electronics...tv, cable box, dvd player and all ...back in place.
Must be a day for painting because I saw my neighbor had some people painting but on his fences not inside. I'm surprised he hired someone as he usually does all that himself. As it was getting dark he was out there doing some spraying or power washing, I couldn't really tell which it was.
I hope you all had a good day and Ginny, I hope your dh is feeling better.

Gonna be one of those days, so I will be short. Dh is not really feeling better, and the rash seems to be spreading a little bit, but is less angry looking. I did get him in to see the doctor (our regular doctor)- but was unable to get him in until tomorrow.
Now it looks as though I have a sick cat....trying to get ahold of the vet- they must be out for lunch. Think its nothing more than a urinary tract infection, which she has had before.
Got a wee little bit of crochetting in this am. I do like this pattern!
Ruth, what is this really pretty color that you painted? Hi to Phyl, CJ and Meg. Ginny

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that your dh is not feeling any better. There was a thing on medscape yesterday about rashes but I didn't look at it because I was too busy. I hope your dh is feeling better soon. Too bad you had to wait until tomorrow for the doctor to see him
Well the old paint I opened was supposed to be "buttermilk yellow" so I was leary about how yellow it would turn out to be but it looks more like a really nice creamy white. I know there's some yellow in it because there were little yellow specks before we mixed it but it doesn't look yellow now that it's all mixed and on the walls. It's wonderful and makes the other color look good too so we didn't paint over that first color that was so dark.I don't know what the dark color is called but it mostly looks like a nice brown now that it's on the wall. Kind of a gold/brown and it's only on one end wall and the partial wall. Looks nice.I'm not sure if I'll finish along the ceiling and floor today or not. My back was killing me last night after all that exercise. Still have to help dh get his "entertainment center" put back together which will involve more lifting but his back hurts also
I'm glad to hear you were able to get in some crocheting and yes, that pattern is great. I haven't worked on my blanket much with doing these other things. Guess I could have done some last night when I finally sat down.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm sorry you're dealing with smoke from the fires, but glad they aren't right near where you live. Phyl - Hope you enjoyed your sew day. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to work out something with the paint and that it looks good. Hope your back is better today. Ginny - I'm sorry to hear your DH isn't well, hope the doctor can help him tomorrow. And I hope the cat is O.K. too. Nice to hear you are getting some crocheting in. The weather has been a bit cooler here for a few days, but back around 90 today. We were supposed to have thunderstorms every day this week but so far none, I'm not complaining. I did get my 25 blocks sewn together on the Solstice quilt and hope to get the borders added so that top is done. I have another quilt top that I'd like to put a few borders on too, so those are my next in line projects. Take care everyone!

CJ, I'm sure it's a good feeling to have the quilt top done and it will be great to get those borders on the others. Same here with the weather..it's turning hot again although we were supposed to have some more cooler days. At least we don't have much humidity.
I don't know why my dh wants me to wait until he mixes the paint up again for me to finish but since he does I'll wait. I could have it all mixed and the part we need to finish up done by now. Oh well...but it does look like we'll be working into the evening again today once we get started and I'd rather have it done so I could just relax all evening. But I can relax tomorrow or even tonight after we finish if I'm not too tired
Thank you CJ, yes my back feels fine today. Back to it's normal.
I've been doing Soduku today while waiting...messed up both the ones I started so will just quit for now and clean the kitchen which was neglected yesterday. See you later

Good afternoon!
CJ- well you dodged the bullet, per se and avoided thunder storms! 90 is pretty warm, but I am hoping that you have a breeze which helps it seem less intense. Are you pleased with how the solstice block quilt top turned out? I forget, what was your color scheme for that? It was so neat to see how everyone made the same block but each from different fabrics and colors. For some reason I thought you were using a blue and pink color scheme, but I could be totally wrong. Congrats on finishing it!!
Ruth, If it were up to me.....most of my house would be yellow or a soft yellow inside. The color I will be painting the spare bedroom is a soft yellow. Anyway I am glad you and DH took a break from painting and moving furniture, especially if your back is hurting. Best to take a break and finish the next day. Glad you have patience for the Suduko! I do not....

hi fiends, yesterday's sew day was fun. I did learn alot from sandy and kathy about wool applique.
they showed me how to use the applique sheet.
they way they do it is use the sheet to cover your pattern and then lay the pieces on top of that. have something sturdy under this when you take it to the ironing board. when you iron use a white dish towel or washcloth that is wet. we learned that in class. no steam. just hold the iron till you see steam.
kathy say sometimes you have to use a metal splatua to get it off the sheet.but do it gently.
so I will try it. I learned more from them then the instructor at the quilt shop.
sandy brugn cucumbers and zuchnni yesterday. so I took a big zuchinni to jeana's. they were not home so left it there. jeana called later wondering where it came from.she has never seen one that big. carey says what are we going to do with that jeana likes to grill them.she is good at grilling and roasting veggies. I never taught her how. never have done it.
sandy's dd grows the zunchinni.sandy has never noticed any difference in blossoms
muffin yesterday? then found out i had zunchhini in it. it was good. on the phone I told delona I should have brung don one home . he said why didn't you.
wellgiurls I Spent this afternoon in er. been having heart papalations. course they would not do anything while on the monitor. dr.says my heart is making extra beats and shows nothing dangerous.have a follow up on the tenth with my own primary doctor. I went through this years ago when they put me on liptor. now why it is doing it again I do not know. the infromation tells me to stay away from the good stuff. coffee with caffine, soft drinks, tea, alcolol and chocolate. I have cut down on coffee alot.figure that was what was doing it.
I was the first one here this am and my post went by-bye before I got done.sows not going to type again. ginny hoped dh feels better tomorrow.
I Went back and looked at pat solans blocks. the house are for a extra quilt.today is a wreath. probably will not do any of them. them I can't see downloading everything. I do not have a facebook account to send pictures. phyl
