It is still hot but not quite as hot as it was. I am staying home today. Yesterday I went to a meeting at church in the afternoon and in the evening I went out to dinner so it was a busy day for me. No crafting for me yesterday or today so far.
I have a toe nail that is ingrowing and I need to find a Dr. who specializes in foot problems. I have a couple of other problems. My regular medical plan does not cover what I need. Odd because they cover everything else.
Ruth, good for you tackling the painting. I used to do that but cant anymore so I will have to find someone else to do it. I have had a handyman do it in the past but have lost track of him so I will have to find another one. I want to do the painting before I get new floor covering. I don't like carpet any more as it gets dirty easily. It will be a big job.
Ginny, Sorry your DH has a rash and is not feeling well. I had DD home last Sat. and she had an ugly rash on her legs. She has had it before. It looks irritating and I know they are treating it. Be careful if you have a sick cat because they are know carriers of Toxoplasmosis. I hope it is something minor.
Phyl, sorry you have had heart palpations and hope they can find a med. that can help you. I have had a couple of friends who had that problem. Do you make zucchini bread?
cj, Hope all is well with you.
I am off to enjoy a cup of tea. Have a good evening.

Phyl, perhaps the kitty with the sad face is sad because she or he is a different color than the other kittys.

Good morning! Phyl- wow you sure had an interesting but challenging day. Its good to hear that you are taking care of your medical issues- yes many things can cause heart palpitations. (And I will stop there because Ruth knows SO much more). Do not be surprised if an echocardiogram is ordered, I am sure that you recently had an EKG for preop clearance. You learned a lot at your crafting class! Were u able to finish the project? And zucchini sure can get large. My parents had a few plants that grew up trees and the squash got to be super long- i figure around 24 inches. Make Don that zucchini bread the next time..... . Take care of yourself. Meg, I do not know much about your health coverage, but am disappointed for you that foot care is not covered. Hope you can find a doctor quickly and easily and someone who will take care of your needs. Providing a senior discount would be nice also.....Did you have dinner at a favorite restaurant? Nice to hear that you got out for dinner- who wants to cook or clean up a kitchen with it being so very hot! Bet that cup of tea tasted wonderful. Nothing better than a nice cup of tea!! Thanks for the concern over Dh. We will go to the regular doctor this am- I think he is improving but do not want to make a mistake and not get proper treatment. His fever is down, but the rash is spreading a little bit outside the circle I drew around it with a sharpie. Gotta go...hope to paint the ceiling before we go to the doctor. Cardiology was never an area that I knew well but after experiencing what I'm sure had to have been afib a few years ago, I was told they were palpitations....after having every other beat an irregular one and they were much different than my "normal" palpitations for several hours they were gone by the time I got to the hospital. But they said they had to have been palpitations...don't know how they came to that conclusion...and that palpitations are rarely serious. They said only worry if it causes you to be light headed or faint. Everyone has them because of caffeine so they said. I haven't had anymore episodes after that year when I had them three weeks in a row. Now I'm back to my normal palpitations. Dh had some with one of his meds.I forget what the med even was but I had him stop taking it. You know how they say "stop taking it and call your doctor". Well it was a weekend so no doctor to call. But it turned out that was exactly the problem. Now he also just has his "normal" palpitations.
Anyway, after all that, I'm glad you went and had it checked out. It's certainly best to go to the ER and have it turn out to be nothing serious than to have it be serious and not go and end up in bad shape or dead. And no I don't think they would do further tests if they were convinced it was palpitations and you had no changes on your EKG. They would just tell you what they told you....stop eating and drinking things with caffeine. Then if the irregular beats continue maybe your doctor may do further tests.
Ginny, I'm glad your dh is feeling slightly better but again, best to have it checked and what a great idea to mark it with a sharpie Dh had an abcess with some redness around it a few months ago and that's what I did too but then I did that also at work when patients had areas we were concerned about.I hope the kitty is better also.
Meg, it does, indeed, sound like you had a busy day yesterday
Ginny, getting the ceiling painted before going to the doctor is quite a feat. I thought we would never get our little bit of painting done. I didn't mention it but dh nearly drove me crazy with the "getting ready to paint" procedure. I would have just grabbed everything and got it done. No he has to go to all kind of lengthly and time consuming ritual before even starting which is why I didn't get the rest done yesterday. I would have just grabbed the can, mixed, painted, cleaned up and put away everything and it would have all been done.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope your heart palpitations have gone away. I check out those weekly blocks when Pat Sloan does a sew along and then just save the pattern for the ones that I like. Ruth - Hope all the painting work gets done today, I'm sure it looks nice. Ginny - Hope the doctor figures out what is wrong with your DH and he's feeling better soon. Meg - Hope the weather is cooler. I sure do love to have my cup of tea each day, even in the Summer we had a rainstorm go through today, but the more severe weather was south of me, so that was good. I've just been watching TV today and doing nothing, guess that's the joy of being retired. Here's a link to the second block from Pat Sloan's new Sew-Along, scroll down to see the different blocks: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2018/08/merry-bright-sew-along-block-2.htmlI do enjoy seeing the fabric choices. I actually think I enjoy looking at and collecting fabric more than I enjoy making quilts with it Take care everyone!

THink 24, 12 and 3 were my favorite blocks.....love to see what others do with different fabrics!!
Indeed CJ that is the joy of retirement, doing nothing if that is what you want to do!! Glad you are enjoying it....hope you are staying comfortable in this humidity.
Ruth, I have also had palpitations- which is why my Dr ordered a stress echo several years ago. (They found nothing_.) Like you when I paint, I just get the stuff out and go.....had a problem with the roller so that will have to wait till tomorrow. Dh tends to be more of process man also. Gotta go throught the process ro get the job done.
The doctor changed Dh’s antibiotic....lets see how this works. The silly cat is acting more like her normal self. She does think of herself as royalty. Speaking of royalty, while in the doctors waiting room I did get some crochetting done. Also saw how Princess Eugenie (daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew) is getting married soon. I know CJ is interested in that kind of news, thought I would mention it.
Hi to Meg and Phyl Ginny

Ginny, it's great that the doctor is being diligent and doing what needs to be done to cure whatever caused this problem your dh is having
It sure is hard to believe that Princess Eugenie is old enough to marry. I don't really know how old she is but it seems like just yesterday that she was born.
CJ, I think you mentioned about the squares with houses and that you liked the ones that had a fabric used for window and door that had what looked like a view of the inside of the house. I like those also. I love looking at quilt squares. I think I'm like you in that I think I like collecting the yarn and patterns better than doing the actual crocheting.
WEll dh and I are done with painting for now. Got the rest done, two more wall portions, all the cutting in at floors and ceiling, door frames, floor vacuumed, things put back in place and the container and brush all washed. Hint for painting....the plastic Maxwell House coffee cans are great for putting paint into when you're using a brush and climbing on a ladder...well anytime you're using a brush actually. The other plastic coffee cans have indentations you can hold onto but MH has an actual opening that makes it even easier to hold. We do a lot with plastic coffee cans.

Great recycle of those coffee cans Ruth! Thanks for the great idea. Not sure how much painting I will get done here. I will do the ceiling, but Dh has sort of inserted himself by saying that he wants to change the baseboards in that room and that perhaps he will paint it. Ha ha ha...thats ok, I will use some leftover paint on the kitchen to put up a new coat of paint there. WIsh I could hire you to paint my house! I am sure your looks great and what a lovely color.
Princess Eugenie is the younger of the two girls, think she is in her late 20’s....and yes it seems like yesterday when she and her sister were born.

It is a really great color. My dh mentioned today that he can see that it has a little yellow in it. I have 3 gallons of it. Wish you lived near. And well, I think my painting skills have deteriorated over the years. I actually used to be good at painting but I realized day before yesterday that my hand is not as steady as it used to be. Now I have to use edgers to keep me from getting paint on the ceiling and you know how those work...they don't work well. I used tape when I did the kitchen last but that was like the one commercial on tv where the person painting is disgusted with their painter's tape. I need to do my kitchen again. Last time I did it was in 2010. I didn't realize it had been that long. I didn't like the color then either. It was a REALLY bright yellow so I had to mix in some white and it still didn't tone it down much and it also had a greenish cast.I might have to paint this whole upstairs (the main living area) with this nice color. Well except for the bathroom and my craft cave. I'll never be able to paint the craft cave because there's too much stuff in it.Bathroom I have to take off wallpaper and do some sanding then I guess I'll decide what color to use in there. I'd love to put in a new sink, vanity, and tub but you never know how much longer we're going to be here so I'm not going to go to that expense.
I'm sure you paint much better than I do.

I am not the best painter at all, believe me. I will be using leftover paint in the kitchen to freshen it up, but the bedroom will be a new soft yellow. And I am sure your painting skills are just fine, Ruth. Funny, a bathroom paint job is on my list too...
Anyway, I am sure the paint looks wonderful!! Wish we all lived near each other so we could share our lives a bit more. But then we would be so busy visiting each other we would get nothing done.
Have a good day! Hi to CJ, Meg and Phyl Ginny

OH yes, I can see all the projects we could do. We could sit and talk and have tea and crochet, you and CJ could do embroidery and hand quilting. We could teach each other things and compare projects. We could share our things we had to get because "we might need them some day" or "I might want to learn that someday" yet never used because it wasn't really something we ended up doing...For instance, I one time got a package of labels that say "quilted with love by....." They were on sale or clearance or something and I can't resist a good price.
Beautiful day here today and I may just spend it sitting and crocheting. I haven't done any crafting now since I sewed on one of my shark's find on Tues morning.
Ginny, I hope your dh is feeling somewhat better. Sometimes the antibiotics that are needed make us feel somewhat drained before we feel better but I do hope he improves fast and is back to his former state of health soon. And I hope you are able to do some enjoyable things and get some rest too. Sometimes taking care of a sick dh is tiring and even exhausting.
Meg, I hope it's not too hot where you are and that they get those fires under control soon. With the hot weather and dryness fires are numerous. Yesterday we had a lot of haze which they said was from fires and they said to expect a lot of smoke but I'm sure our smoke from far away fires is nothing like the smoke you have there.
CJ, I'm sure you have some unbelievably beautiful quilt tops. I can't wait to see pictures. Too bad they don't have a picture feature like they had on the old weight watcher board although I'm not really fond of the idea of everyone who wants to lurk seeing my pictures.I'd like it to have a feature where you could designate who is able to view them.
Phyl, I hope those palpitations are gone. They can certainly be frightening to us when we experience them.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny - I hope the medication helps your DH and I'm glad the cat was doing better. I find cats fascinating, but I've always been more of a dog person.
Ruth - I'm glad you are happy with the paint color. I've never done any house painting but I can imagine it's difficult to pick the best color. I like to walk through the yarn rows in the craft stores and just look at and touch the yarns, just like looking at fabrics.
Meg and Phyl - Hope you are enjoying some crafting. Tonight is the Great British Baking Show. Two people were eliminated last week, so it's getting close to the end. I just love this show and look forward to watching it.
I do follow the British Royalty pretty closely, and also the Swedish ones too. Princess Eugenie's wedding is in October and I'm hoping some television channel will cover it. If they don't I might be able to find it streaming online. Since she's considered a more minor Royal she may not get TV coverage.
The weather here has been very humid. We'll have a rainstorm go through and then the sun comes out and heats things back up. The weekend is supposed to be warmer.
My portable AC has been driving me crazy since the water (I'm guessing from the humidity) has been filling up in it almost every day and then I have to empty it to use it. The drip valve is right at the bottom of this heavy AC so I can't really lift it up to drain (although I'm thinking about finding something to lift it onto. I've been dragging it to my back door and opening the valve there to drain the water. When it needed it again this morning (after just doing it yesterday!!!), I just couldn't go through all the dragging so I put a towel and paper towels under the drain valve and just caught the water up in them.
I learned after the first time I moved it when it was filled with water and it drained all over the carpet to put a plastic tarp underneath it. Then I've had to tape up the tarp around the AC before I move it to the back door. It's all just a pain in the neck
Take care everyone!

Just an idea, but CJ would putting that portable AC on a large plastic lid (like the type that goes on a crafting tub) under the air conditioner? That way there would be a container with a lip beneath it. Enjoy the GBBS tonight!
Ruth you paint a hysterical but really nice picture of how silly we would be together...and yes, most of us are tea drinkers!!! It makes me smile thinking about it- hope you got some crafting time in today.
Dh is feeling better and the rash is receeding. Great news!. Got the ceiling painted in the small bedroom. Its a tiny room so it did not take too long.
Thanks to all of you for your care and concern for both Dh and me.
Meg and Phyl- how are you doing? G
