It's been a long busy day and I am tired this evening. I had an early apt to have my feet taken care of. I really liked this Dr. and my feet feel more comfortable. Because my eyesight is not good and I have trouble bending down and can't see my toe nails properly to cut them I needed some help. I don't trust just anyone to cut my toenails because I am diabetic so I was really pleased with the Dr. I saw today. I will go back in a few weeks.
I stopped to get some groceries on the way home. Then in the afternoon I went to Knit Wits and took Devin with me. The library has mine crafters after Knit Wits and Devin enjoys going to that. I waited 1 1/2 hrs. him and then home. I should sleep well tonight.
cj, I am sorry you are having a problem with your A/C and hope you can find a way to catch the water run off. At this time of year you just want to enjoy the cool air without all the hassle. I didn't watch the GBB Show. I forgot about it but I do like to watch when I remember. I do like the British shows. I don't know whether they will show Princess Eugene's wedding. She is the Queen's granddaughter though she is getting pretty far down the line of succession. But I am sure it will be on British TV. I have seen the Queen and Prince Phillip several times and also the Queen's father and mother and Princess Margaret. I have never seen any of the younger members of the Royal Family. Always fun to keep up with what they are doing.
Ginny, glad your DH is feeling better. BTW I do get foot care under my medical plan just not nail cutting and in grown toe nails and that sort of thing. If I needed foot surgery or something like that I would be taken care of.
phyl, I hope the new med you are taking does the trick and that you will have no more palpations. Take care.
Ruth, good for you getting all that painting done and that you like the color. I used to do a lot of painting but now I would not even attempt it. DS & DG are too busy so I will have to find someone to do it for me. The man who cleaned my carpets last time said his father liked doing odd painting jobs but I don't remember what I did with his phone no. I do need to declutter before I can do anything. I just don't seem to have the energy anymore for all that sort of stuff.
Now I am going to bed. Sleep well.

Good morning,
Meg, so good to hear from you! That is happy news that you found a good foot doctor to take care of you. Not sure is going to a pediatrist is something anyone really wants to do (sort of like going to the gynecologist, a necessary evil). I cannot reach my feet too well either.. Finding a doctor you feel comfortable with and can trust is a real benefit to you. Hope the office is not a far drive from your home. Sounds like you had a really busy day, between shopping, Knit wits and the podiatrist. Hope you rested well.....does Devin go back to school next week?
Watched the GBBS last night- the winner did not surprise me. I kind of figured that that person would win based upon overall talent and effort. It was a fun season to watch. Any of those bakers could bake for me anytime and I would not complain!!
Dh is doing much better, but goes to the doctor in a few hours for his evaluation.
Painted the ceiling last night....now have to go to Lowes today to get another quart of trim paint as that needs doing also.
Spent a few minutes hooking this am over coffee with Dh. G

Good morning all. It's still morning here and where Meg is. Meg, I didn't know you had diabetes. I'm glad you've found a good foot doctor. It's especially important to take care of feet when diabetic. Yes it does sound as though you had a very busy day and I hope you did get a good night's sleep because of it. I'm sorry to hear that your ds and dgd are too busy to paint for you.Finding reliable people to work is not an easy task. I would like to have my house resided. The neighbor is having that done now and it's been going on for over 2 weeks now at least. The men seem to leave very early in the day. I don't know what time they start but they seem to have a greatly variable work schedule. Some days they're there and some not even during the week. They're there today but weren't yesterday. Sometimes they've worked on Sunday and some not. The don't seem to accomplish much.I have a few things I'd like to hire people to do.The other neighbor hired people to stain his fences. I saw only one woman...at least from a distance it looked like a woman...she seemed to be very diligent.I'm surprised he hired someone to do it though. He usually keeps very busy. I think I mentioned this the ohter night but he was out there late at night power washing the fence she then painted the next day so it seems as though he may as well have done it himself. He's always busy over there doing something and also doing for neighbors. I think he hasn't been feeling well lately though
Ginny, congrats on getting the ceiling done. It's so nice to freshen things up with new paint. I'm glad to hear that your dh is feeling better and that the rash is now receding rather than advancing. I hope things went well at the doctor today.Good to hear you were able to get in some hooking time.
I intended to watch that baking show and did find out when it's televised here but then forgot to watch. I can't record it because we get the local channels on antenna. It's on again tomorrow at 4pm so hopefully I'll remember.
Still haven't done any crafting except for looking at yet more patterns.I started to pick up the baby blanket last evening but then picked up the Sudoku book instead.
CJ, yes that does sound like a huge pain in the neck...literally also...to have to move the air conditioner to drain the water. It would be great to have a flat bed rolling cart or wagon.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny and Ruth- thanks for the suggestion of the tray to catch water and to place it on a stand. I had thought of something like that when I first set up the AC this year but then forgot. I need to see about getting something like that. Meg - I would love to have seen the Queen in person. I do admire all her years of service. I know she leads a privileged life, but I can't imagine having to spend my whole live doing all those public events. I was fortunate enough to see Princess Diana and Prince Charles in person when they came to Washington, D.C. in 1985. I was a bit "obsessed" with Diana from when she came on the scene in 1981, so it was a thrill for me to be close to her. I have a beautiful picture of her from that day that is a treasured memory for me. I was just devastated when she died so young. Phyl - I agree that there are a lot of block and wreath quilt blocks out there. I think the people that join in those Sew Alongs seem to do it mostly for the group aspect and to use a fabric line or scraps. We finally had a mostly sunny day here today, but it got hot - up in the 90s. The house is staying pretty comfortable though, so that's good. I haven't done much today, just reading, Internet and TV. I'll be watching Say Yes to the Dress tonight. I like to see the wedding gowns. I don't really care for all the "fake" drama though. I just mute the TV while that goes on Someone called me right before the GBBS last night so I had to tape some of the show. I think it's ironic that I rarely get any phone calls and there are only a few shows that I really love to watch on TV and it always seems that someone calls me when one of those shows is on! Take care everyone!

Good evening- CJ- enjoy Say Yes to the Dress! Most of the time I really enjoy that show-when in a mood to see it. Each person being unique, its always interesting to see what kind of dress each bride wears and is her dream dress. Some family members ought to keep their thoughts to themselves, however....it is the brides day after all!! So sorry that you had to miss GBBS.....(see I did not give it away who won?). Hope you can come up with a thrifty and easy way to end your woes with the airconditioner...but I am so glad you have it as it looks like this week will be really hot. (CJ, wow....how close were you able to get to Princess Diana?)
Ruth, shall we all email you when the GBBS is on? Its a cute show, and I cannot imagine being under that kind of pressure to bake something like they are asked to do. Congrats on excercising your mind instead of your crochet hook. Its ok to take a break from crafting...
Phyl- did you get any bummin time in today? Glad your meds are being monitored so closely so that you are getting the best care possible.
Meg, what an honor to have met the Queen and much of her family....yes they are just regular people like us, but they do have a huge responsibility and it is very diffucult being in the public eye all the time. I do wonder if BBCUSA will cover Princess Eugenies wedding or at least a small part of it.
We are in for a hot weekend here...went shopping for a little bit today and then some friends stopped by. Have not gotten much done.
See you tomorrow G

Hello all. I thought it was still morning by how time flies. It's 1pm here now. I've had my Bible study, Bible reading, paid my bills and checked my email.
Yesterday I did a little yarn organizing then spent some time organizing my pantry and moving the older items to the front of the shelves. I have a tendency to just stick the new things on the shelves to move later then they get left there and older things lost in the shuffle. I have one cupboard in the kitchen I want to go through today and hopefully...thank you Ginny... I will remember at 4 to watch the GBBS.Yes on that show I don't know how they can do it. I watch Chopped on Food Network a bit and never can figure out how they come up with what to make with the ingredients they're given. I can't even decide what to make for dinner each day.Plus with the time constraint I'd be a wreck.
I hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday. You would love it here. It's cool and breezy although still a little smoky.I may even have to go get some warmer clothing.

hi, I like to watch the kids bake offs. how do they do it? not all kids have a parent/parents who own a bakery or restaurant. most parents don't seem to cook from scratch/or cook at all,so that makes it even greater the kids want to cook.
I had to learn on my own. mom would not teach me anything. always get out of her I can do it better myself.I had to do somethings for home ec in school instead of watching she would just take over.
she never taught me or my sis how to clean. then she would get mad if we didn't doi t right. dad took our sides. he told her several times you don't teach the girls and then expect them to know it.
yes we did get some bumin yesterday. the mall , hobby lobby mainy just to get out and be moving today was church, lunch and kohl's and michales..
at kohl's I bought one of those red copper cake pans that has a divider in it to cut in 9 or 12 pieces.
with the sale and my 30% of I got it for less then 8 dollars.also it was the last day of paying no sales tax. funny I can find stuff like that, but in their clothes line I have a hard time finding anything.alot of us think kohl's have gone down hill.
have not done any crafting this weekend.phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today phyl - I've also wondered how those kids do that baking, it's amazing. I think the Producers must make sure all of them have a standard recipe for cookies and cakes and that they can make them before they go on the show. Since you find that show interesting you might want to hear that tomorrow - Monday August 6th, the Food Network is replaying all of the last season of the Kid's Baking Show starting at 11:00 A.M. and then at 9:00 P.M. is the first episode of the new season. It was warm here today, in the 90s, but mostly cloudy. I didn't go outside all day, just been doing things around the house. Tonight I'll be watching Beachfront Bargain Hunt on HGTV at 8:00 and then the newest season of Chesapeake Shores on Hallmark Channel. I'd love to have a beachfront home. Hopefully no one will call me tonight Take care everyone!

Sounds like a great night of television for you CJ! Beachfront bargain hunt is a cute show, I like it when they do homes on lakes, just because I prefer lakesides... WHat is Chesapeake Shores? Will have to check that out. I am usually at a loss for what to watch on Sunday evenings. Sorry its so hot where you live. I have only seen promotionals for that kids baking show. Sounds good to watch however.
Phyl- well you went to my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby and Kohls. Kohls is hit or miss, sometimes I go in there wanting to buy a lot, and then there are times that I find next to nothing or nothing at all. Wonder why that is? Do you have any other stores like that that you can shop at? Like you, I am somewhat self taught. My mom did teach us how to cook but I am completely self taught with regard to housework. My mom was a horrible house cleaner, which meant when it came time to sell her home I had a nightmare to take care of. Ruth, hope you get to see the episode of the GBBS. Sounds like you had a lovely day so far, quiet and with cool weather. Are there fires in your area or within a few miles? I wonder why you mention it being a bit smoky. I too enjoy Chopped on Food Network. Have you seen any episodes with Martha Stewart as a judge? I have not. Made an easy dinner....now have to clean up. I tried to get some billing issues taken care of, and it looks like I will have to go to the utility company in person to change our billing as we are changing banks. I wasted a good hour trying to do that onine and the web site was very unfriendly. I am sure if I drive the 1/2 hour to their office it will at least be productive time and the billing will be changed to the new bank. Guess I will do that next week.
TOmorrow is really Monday??
Meg, hope you are safe and staying cool. So much of California has fires....such a pretty state. And what a shame. Will pray that the fires are contained soon and that some gentle rains come your way to reduce the risk of further problems.

ginny, we have walmart and target. I don't buy there just don't trust the stores.
in our mill maycy's has move out.we will lose herberger's by the end of august. our sears women's department is thimble full compared. to other sears stores.
we have the buckle.don't buy there.we still have penny's.can't find much there.
we have the dressbarn. use to love to go to rochester, and shop there when they were more casual type store.now they are casual/carrer women's store. more for the working women.
there is ross for less. delona and I go in and walk out.to us that store is one organized rummaged sale store.don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings by saying that.just the way we feel. phyl

No offense taken Phyl- some stores are just poorly organized. There is a TJ Maxx here- and I go nuts on the rare occasions I go in there. Love how you put it, a poorly organized rummage sale store is a great description and that is how I feel about TJ Maxx. Sears used to be a fine store here....now it is closed. Macy’s is ok...but if I really need something special I go to a much larger Macy’s, but that is a longer drive. I do not know how we are supposed to buy clothes anymore. Online is tough....and well what if you need something and cannot wait for shipping? Thankfully Walmart has seemed to up its game, but its still Walmart- there are just some things you would not buy at a Walmart. Personally, I am not a big fan of target. Not for anything....but I do buy there if they have a great price or I am stuck there.

It's nice to see so many here. Now to just remember what I want to say.
I haven't shopped for clothing in a very long time I know that many of our mall stores have closed but I have no idea what ones.I've only ever been to the Kohl's store here once and that was when they first opened so back in 2010 I think. I don't know much about the quality of clothing in many of the stores so I know we have a Marshall's and a Dress Barn over in the new side of town but I've never been to either one. They've probably closed Macy's. I really don't like Target and don't care a lot for Walmart. It used to be you could get great buys on toys in Target. As far as clothing goes the stores don't, in my opinion, ever have much that is suited for a person my age.I haven't been to Ross Dress for less in years either. I used to get some good things there then it changed. And yes there are certain things you wouldn't buy at Walmart for sure. I used to go to TJ Maxx back in NY. I remember finding some really nice clothes for my chidren there. We don't have one here but by the looks of the commercials on tv it wouldn't be my kind of store anymore anyway.
I've never watched the kids baking or cooking shows just the adult ones. I imagine they have a tough screening to get on those programs. They want to make sure no one is going to freeze up and have no idea of what to cook or bake.
Yes I have seen some of the episodes of Chopped with Martha Stewart. I don't care much for her so was leary but she's not bad as a judge on there.I don't know if she's on every single week now or if she alternates as the other judges do.I just record them and watch when I feel inspired to do so and don't really watch in order.
Ginny, sorry you have to take a relatively long trip to take care of your bill paying. We don't even have an office for our power company anywhere around here anymore so luckily my online banking works well to pay that and my other bills. Only thing we have to do in person here now is renewing driver's license and I think you can even do that online every couple years if you see an eye doctor during that year and have them fax their report over.
I used to watch all those house hunting shows on HGTV but now I don't watch that channel. It's a matter or personal principles. But I would love to have a lakeside house. My house in Arkansas was very near the lake but now right on it. It wasn't a place where we could stay all year though for several reasons so we had to sell it. Too far to drive now.
