This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Good morning!
Somehow I missed checking in yesterday. Hard to believe that it's February already!
Today was WI. I've been seriously off my game. I was sick, then the B-day/company weekend, then I had a bit of a gastro-intestinal setback from my surgery prior to xmas. I'm up 2.4 this week. So basically, I erased last week's loss.
I find it frustrating that I haven't been able to be consistent. I'm working on it. I need to not have the concept of "going off."
Moving on, this week I have a couple of challenges with events that I will be watching out for. I'm hoping to work some activity in as well - that's been slacking since I've not been feeling well.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Hi wwlurker - You sound like you have a really positive attitude, I hope you'll have some losses soon. I agree with you about not thinking about "going off", we just have to make it through each day and do the best we can.
I did my monthly weigh in today and was happy to have had a good loss last month. I'm going to stay eating at this same level for one more month and then I might start trying maintenance. I can't believe that in one more month it's been two years since I started on this journey. I hope every day I can stay strong and never gain back the weight I've lost.

I struggle with going off plan all the time these past few months, and the scale shows it. I blow it one meal and instead of getting right back on track and throw it all out the window. As if that helps. I need to be able to make smart decisions outside my house, and be fine with saying no when offered things I know I shouldn't have. Honestly it's easier if I just avoid a trigger food completely because one small bite is only going to lead to more.

Good afternoon! cj59 - sometimes I feel like I talk the talk, but don't really walk the walk. It's tough. I am trying to get back on. Today is Day 1 of a new week. I'm a bit off schedule because I was in another meeting this am, but I'm doing well so far. I need to just buckle down for the week and then go from there. Sandy - I have such a hard time with this. I agree about avoiding trigger foods completely. Chocolate is one for me. So is soda. I subscribe to the theory that there are certain foods which are engineered to make it hard to resist, so total abstinence works best for me. Part of my issue right now is that I was on a detox phase of my plan and now it's a bit more relaxed. At the end of the day, my consultant said something to me this week which hit home. She said "Remember, you want this." She's right. I do want to break my unhealthy patterns and live differently. So I need to do the work.

Hello Everyone Sandy - welcome to our thread, I hope you'll come and post when you can. I have trigger foods too, and I find if I do bring them in the house I can only have one or two servings and then I have to throw them out. I hope you can find a way to deal with this wwlurker - That saying is a good reminder to us, we do want this and have to keep pushing ourselves to lose the weight I've been really fortunate this go around with weight loss that I've been able to stay on track. Even the few days where I was doing too much snacking, I was able to put them behind me and get back on the program. I could never do that in the past, once off track I just went crazy eating everything I could. I think the difference this time is that I have less stress in my life and also my health was so bad when I started two years ago that it really scared me into knowing I had to be serious about weight loss. I'm doing pretty well today. I went grocery shopping and really wanted to buy a bunch of junk, but managed not to do that. I really don't need any more snacky food in the house than I already have here. I also stopped by McDonalds and I really wanted to buy a sandwich and fries, but didn't want to use all those points. I ended up just buying a small fries and ate less than half of them and threw out the rest. I really wanted to eat out at fast food today, so that kind of satisfied my desire for that. In the past I always treated myself to lunch out on grocery shopping day and I miss doing that. Of course back then I was getting a big sandwich, fries and a dessert! Getting a salad just isn't as satisfying sometimes

Good morning! hiker - welcome! Glad to have you. cj59 - satisfaction is a huge factor for me. I need to feel like I'm eating enough. Today I'm a bit off schedule. I am supposed to be in out-of-town meetings today and tomorrow, but today's program got bumped by a conference call, so I am unexpectedly in the office. Breakfast was catered and it was OP. I accommodated breakfast by modifying my lunch plans. Tonight is family movie night and DH and I have plans to make a healthy flatbread for us and pizza for the kids. Hope everyone is doing well today!

I am a former lifetime member, struggling for years, yo yoing up and down, realized I couldn't do it on my own. Jan 3 I paid for a 3 month membership and have been OP ever since. I plan that this is the LAST time I have to start over. I have a long ways to go, I will take it one day, one lb at a time. Trigger foods( Red light foods in the old days ) I don't even have in the house because I know how it will play out. Yellow light foods, I only buy enough to have for a planned meal. Green light foods-zero point fruits and veggies, I fill my fridge with, if I open the fridge that is the first thing I see. I put things I don't want to abuse out of sight, under the meat drawer, in foil or behind something else. Last month I took a tape gun to a box of WW ice creams and wrapped it with several yards, it worked. I always doubt that the program will work, and I doubt that I can do this. No matter how well I have done all week, I am sick to my stomach on the way to weigh in because I keep thinking, ' this is the week it stops working, or what if I am up ' I have a plan for the weekend, and i will stick to it. I weigh in on Tuesday so I would not have time to do damage control if I went crazy for the super bowl.

Hello Everyone - it's great to see more people posting in this thread, I appreciate all the support hiker - Welcome! Sounds like you have set up some practices for yourself so you can be successful this time. Good luck with the weekend. I was a former WW member too and always gained back what I lost. This time I'm doing the old Classic Points (Momentum) on my own and have been successful with losing a lot and staying on track. I was really motivated this time to keep with the program and I'm hoping I'll never gain this weight back again. wwlurker - It's really tough when our plans get changed. I'm fortunate that this doesn't happen to me too much, but when it does I've tried to make the best food choices possible. Your dinner sounds good! I've had a good on track day. I was busy doing things, so I didn't have the desire to do any snack eating. I had also planned out my meals for today, so that really helps. I have a few tentative meals plans for the weekend too. Wishing everyone a good weekend

Checking in for the day. I was out of the house today for about 7 hours and it makes me realize how difficult it is to plan food/meals when things like this are going on. I've been spoiled being retired and having the whole day to plan my meals. The only good thing is that since it was later in the day when I got home, I just can't eat that much food before my cutoff time for eating in the evening Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans and having a good weekend.

Checking in for the day. Hope everyone has had a good weekend and was able to stay on plan I've had a good day. I had a lot of weekly points left for today, and I don't think I'll use them all, but it was nice to use some for a few snacks I rarely have extra points for.

Good morning!
I have been doing fairly well this week but not perfect. The most important thing is that I haven't gone "off" completely at all this week. I tracked everything. I've had plenty of things which were off plan, but I didn't go on a "free for all" and I wrote it all down, so that is progress.
I'm going to make a challenge for myself to write down everything all month - no "going off" and writing cute phrases in my log to indicate that I wasn't keeping track. I need to be aware of what I'm eating, and I need to focus on making the best choices I can to stay OP. Not everything has to be perfect, but I do need to be consistent.
Peeking at the scale, it looks like I've lost most of what I gained last week, so that is positive. Two more days to WI, so hopefully it will all be gone and maybe I'll even have a slight net loss over the past two weeks.

Hi wwlurker - Glad to hear you've been doing fairly well. I hope you do see a loss this week at weigh-in.
Tracking is so important for my success. I knew when I started this that I had to write down everything I ate every day. I've done that for almost 2 years now and even though sometimes it gets tiring, I know that if I don't do it I will overeat. I'm figuring I have to do it for the rest of my life!
I weighed in today and stayed the same, which I pretty much thought would happen - since I didn't feel like I'd lost anything. I guess at this point when I'm close to my goal weight I'm going to have more weeks where I don't lose than weeks where I do. I know I stayed on track last week, so I have to take that as success.

Good morning! Tracking is something that I find difficult at times; sometimes I just get sick of it and sometimes it's just not convenient. But it really does discourage mindless eating and bingeing. I'm excited for WI tomorrow. My home scale tells me that I'm down more than I was two weeks ago, so I should see a good loss and a small net loss over the past few weeks. I have been on my program for just shy of two months and I'm down about 8 pounds. If I have a good week next week, I will likely be down about 10 pounds in two months. That's not great considering how much I have to lose, but it's progress. Also, it was over the holidays and DS's birthday. I'm down about 15 pounds from my all-time high prior to my surgery. Overall, I am happy with my progress. I'm a bit disappointed because I feel like I could be down about 20 pounds if I had gone hardcore. But, I am making it work with my life and I'm proud of that, even if it is taking me forever. cj59 - I think it's wise to consider weeks where you are OP a win regardless of the number on the scale. I am more interested in my behaviours than the actual number - I need to work on my messed up relationship with food and if I do, the number will take care of itself.
