Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - that color yarn sounds pretty. Ginny - I'm glad you are getting some things out of your house. I've done a little but it barely makes a dent. Just have to keep working at it. Ruth - Hoping you have a safe and enjoyable trip whenever you go. Meg - Hope the weather is getting better for you. It was hot here this morning, then we had a rainstorm go through and the temperature dropped some. We got over an inch and a half of rain in less than an hour, so it was really pouring. I pulled out a few fat quarters from my stash to use as backing for two small quilt blocks I did. It's this quilt. I only made two separate blocks: www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/totally-tulips-quilt/index.htmlI want to add some batting and baste these and then hand quilt them, plus I have another small block to baste and quilt. This will be the next thing to work on. For the Solstice quilt I'm now thinking of going a different way and choosing a very light peachy color for a small inner border. It's really difficult to find a color that is a bit darker than the darkest color in the quilt, so maybe going lighter is the solution. Of course, I have no peachy fabric either Take care everyone!

I like those colors too, Phyl. I never realized how good gray looks with so many different colors until I saw some baby blankets online that had gray in them.
Ginny, it sounds like you got a lot accomplished both yesterday and today. I hope you can have a relaxing evening.
CJ, the peachy color you mentioned sounds like it would go well with a lot of things too. It sounds like a great plan to me.
Well I did get my two rows done last night. The first seemed to go pretty fast but the second just seemed like it took forever. I did some again this morning while dh was talking. He doesn't mind me crocheting as he talks.
Now I'm going to go to that quilt site that CJ posted

Hello, Ginny, Ruth, cj,& phyl.
I had DD home this afternoon and just sent her back to her care home and now I intend to sit back and relax for the rest of the evening. The temp. will be in the 90s for a few days. No complaints it beats the 100+ days we had and I am looking forward to the 80s. Yesterday I went to Knit Wits, it was a smaller group than usual. I did get some crocheting done and have managed to slowly get busy doing some more crafting this week. I think a lot of people found it hard to do crafting in the heat.
Devin and his mom are away for the weekend so now that DD has paid her visit it should be quiet here. What are all of you doing this holiday weekend. I would love to spend it at the beach but I don't think that is going to happen.
I am tired now so I will check hopefully tomorrow.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I hope you are getting some rest today, glad to hear you were able to go to Knit Wits. Ruth - Glad you got a few more rows done. One of the things I really love about easy crochet projects is how you can sit and do them while listening to TV or someone talking. When I was still working I remember going to a meeting and one of my co-workers brought her crochet project into the meeting and crocheted while the meeting was going on. I don't think it was very professional, but I admire her guts or maybe her obsession with the craft Ginny and Phyl - Hope you are getting to do something fun this weekend. It's hot here again and we're supposed to have temps in the 90s this week, with heat index around 100. I sure hope this is the last of the hot weather for this year. I was able to put my 3 small quilt blocks together with backing and batting yesterday and then I hand basted them since I'm going to be hand quilting them. It's nice to have these little small projects lined up to work on. Here's a link to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday blog in case you like to check the people that link up to her: kathysquilts.blogspot.com/Take care everyone!

Been quiet here, but with this being a holiday weekend, most folks are busy. Hard to believe that this is the unofficial end of summer. Not looking forward to the end of summer but I am looking forward to an end to hot and humid weather.
Meg, not many really like to work with yarn in summer weather. I would think only those who really have projects that they want to finish like knitting and crochetting during hot weather. Especially large projects like afghans and blankets. How was your visit with Dd? Now that she is gone and Devin is with his mom you can enjoy some quiet time. How is Devin adjusting to being back to school?
Ruth- glad that Dh does not mind that you crochet while chatting with him. think my Dh is bothered by it sometimes, but he really does not help around the house much....so sitting with him over coffee and a crochet hook some mornings is the only down time I get. Glad you got two more rows done. Cannot be too much longer until that is done!!
CJ- the tulip motif is one of the prettier patterns MSQ has....what a shame that you have to head out to get more fabric. Something fun to do when in another heat wave. Stay cool.....
Heading out with Dh in a little bit. We turned the AC back on as its getting hot again. Hope to get some hooking time in later on.
Ginny

Meg, It's good to see you. I'm glad you got to go to Knitwits. I wonder if the group was smaller because people went away for the Labor Day weekend. Yes beach sounds good to me too as long as it has some shade to sit in. I'd love to see the ocean again but I'll take a lake.I'd really love to have a cabin right on the lake. I know Janet was happy to see you and now you have all day today to rest before Devin and his mom get back home.
CJ, you sure made good progress yesterday. Yes it is indeed great to have projects lined up to work on in your spare moments. I don't know about here but I don't think that back in NY it would have been acceptable to bring crochet or knit or any other craft project to work on while at a meeting. Don't know for sure but I never saw anyone do it. I think here we could have done it but again, no one ever did.
It's a nice day but hot. I just picked all the tomatoes from my plants and pulled them out of the soil. No use having the bedraggled things sitting there looking bad. I also cleaned my large lazy susan cabinet and washed the shelves and got rid of some older things. I also got my Sunday project of plant watering inside the house done so plants are happy.Dh is busy getting his clothing and things together for the trip but I haven't even started yet. I do know what I'm taking so no problem there.
Got another two rows done yesterday spaced throughout the day and evening. I'm up to 39 inches so not too much to go. I'm still trying to decide what crochet project to take with me and now I'm leaning toward some of the cowls that I want to put with the mittens I'm going to donate. They'll be easy and won't require a lot of attention and I do have some nice patterns for them.Hopefully lots of necks will be kept warm this coming winter. After we get back I'll work on dgd's birthday things and Bible cover and put the finishing touches on the sea animals. I'll work on the tree skirt again today and who knows, I may have it at least close to being done before we leave on our trip.
Have a great day everyone and I'll see you later

Phyl, I'm so sorry to hear about your sciatica. My dh has that problem all the time and the doctor told him to go to physical therapy. She didn't suggest anything like ice packs, heat, ibuprofen or anything. I think it's time for a new doctor

Hello everyone, It has been a very quiet day here. I think the temp is about 95 so I stayed indoors. I just made a spice up side down cake and I M Waiting for it to come out of the oven so I wish you could all stop by and have some. I haven't made one in years. I hope to watch Poldark at 8 p.m. Last Sunday they had it on for 3 hours. So I will get comfortable and get my baby blanket out and work on it.
phyl. so sorry you are in pain. Do you ever use Aspercream and massage it in? I have used Asper cream for years.
Ruth, I have used gray in some of my b/blankets and I have some gray and pink waiting to be used. I will probably add white to that. When are you and DH going on your vacation.
Ginny, it will probably be hot here until Oct though not as hot as it is now. I hope you get some cooler weather so that you and your DH can get out and enjoy it.
Well I am off to take my up side down cake out of the oven.

Ginny, I hope you had a good day wherever it was you were going.
I'm going to work on my tree skirt again in a minute. I got one row done and am working on the second for the day. I was hoping to get more done on it but got distracted.
See you all tomorrow in the new week
