Ruth, I was curious how you would attach both a lining and a zipper....I am sure you will be able to do both with ease, once you find good directions. Sometimes that is all it takes is to find directions which are written in a manner that your mind can understand.
Phyl- sounds like you had a lot of fun yesterday, and were very well behaved!! Which designer’s quilt will you be making? Hopefully its one of the easier to follow designers. Take your time, and I am sure you and Nita will figure this all out.
Walked with my friend this am, glad we got that done as its raining now. Got a little bit of crochet in, will, perhaps do some more later on after I try to get some kids memorabilia organized.
Yes, it looks as though Florence will stay south of all of us. If the storm follows normal course, CJ and I will probably see some rain and wind. Sure glad CJ has a new roof!!
take care all Ginny

Actually right now I'm putting a liner in the purse and the zipper will go on the coin purse. Later I'll try both. I'll have to watch that video again but I think that you crochet the zipper in first then sew in the liner.
It rained here too but only for about 3 minutes but it did make the ground wet enough that I can't go out and vacuum the car right now which is fine because I have things I can do inside
I'm glad you got your walk in before the rain, Ginny. I saw one of my neighbors walking the other day on our way home so I was thinking of asking her if she wanted a walking partner but she's about 83 years old and doesn't walk very fast. Plus I don't really want to be committed to anything although that would certainly force me to get out there.
Ok, back to work

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend It's been wet here today, but only in the high 60s, low 70s - so nice after all the heat. Tomorrow is also supposed to be cool and rainy. I am glad I have the new roof I made a test block of the Warm Wishes quilt yesterday and it worked well. A few of the strip sets were a bit large, but I was able to trim them. I hope to work on the larger quilt soon. But first I'm going to do a test of that panel quilt (where you cut it up). I found some pretty Fall leaves fabric in my stash and I'm going to use a gold fabric for the strips between the cut up panel. Take care everyone!

It is hot this afternoon in the mid 90s and I am not in the mood to do much of anything. I did make a quick trip to the store for a few odds and ends and now I am trying to cool off. I am just not in the mood to do any crafting though I did some knitting a few days ago. I didn't sleep well on Thur. night so I didn't go to Knit Wits yesterday. Instead I went to the lab to have some blood tests as I have a couple of Dr. apts on Monday. Now I am going to relax and read.
I hope it is cool and comfortable where you are and that you have a good evening.

Ruth, glad you are making progress on the purse and the coin purse. Sounds like they are almost done!! Having a walking partner would be nice....perhaps you could work something out so that you walk only once a week. And I do understand speed....my friend cannot go at my usual pace, but I enjoy having her company. And I am commitiing her to walking once a week with me- in the dead of winter we will do Leslie Sansone videos at each others houses...good thing we get along well! Sounds like you are really busy getting everything ready. Its a hectic time- try not to over do your housework.
CJ- good to hear that you are enjoying the cooler weather!!! With the cooler weather those creative juices flow a little bit more. (its effecting me too!!) Think that panel quilt will be magnificent. Are you planning to use it for a wall hanging?
Meg, hope that this weekend you can relax. I am glad that you went for your blood work- you are usually very conscientious about that and getting to the doctor when you must. Hope all your blood work comes out well. Hope you are enjoying your book!!
Got some crochetting in this afternoon and did a lot of cooking. I am getting ready for another Big brothers Big sisters pickup at the end of this month....am working on cleaning out the shed so we can more properly put things away for the winter. Dh is horrible at getting rid of things....so at least if I can make a dent in the stuff then its a good thing. Guess the important thing to remember is that Rome was not built in a day...so it might take me awhile to get these areas cleaned up. And I still have to get stuff repacked so it can go back in the attic.
Good night all Ginny

CJ, It's a fantastic idea to make a test block to see how that quilt goes. I usually am not smart enough to make test swatches and just plunge into things and then end up pulling a lot out if I con't like how it looks
Meg, I'm sorry you didn't get to Knit Wils but I'm glad you got your blood work done and are ready for the doctor. I hope all the test results are good.Hot weather is not very conducive to working with yarn esp if you're making something large like a blanket.
Ginny, I think I might do that...talk to her about walking once a week. She and I both used to walk a lot. She walked with a group at a local shopping center and I walked here in our neighborhood but we both slacked off. She had real issues that caused her to stop walking...her dh died and also her grandson who lived in Ca so she went out there to be with her daughter. I really had no excuse.
Dh saw some of my yarn and asked if I could make him a couple more hats while we're on our trip. I had said I was still deciding on what to take and he suggested that which is a perfect thing to take on a trip because the project is small and pretty mindless. So in the evenings I can just sit and work on them. I'll probably get at least one done each day and I'm also taking my cotton yarn for potholders just in case we extend the trip.

Hello Crafters It's raining and in the 60s here today. The temps in the house are in the 70s, which is so nice since they've been 80 and higher for most of the Summer. I put together the small cut up panel quilt last night. I like it pretty much, but I'm someone who likes things to look even, so the random up and down of the strips didn't appeal to me that much. I might like it better if they were all the same size, or every other one was up or down (hopefully you can picture what I mean). I'll have to really think about it before I'd cut up any of my panels. Ginny - This quilt would be wall size. Since I rarely ever actually finish any of my quilts, who knows what it will end up being I'm glad you were able to get some crochet done, hope you have success with getting things together to donate. Ruth - Glad you have some projects lined up to take on your trip. Meg - Hope you get some rest this weekend and that your appointments go well tomorrow. Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting done. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
Ruth, thought of you in church this am.....Pastor started his serrmon about how much work it is to pack and get ready before going on a trip. And of course, how just getting ready for the trip is exhausting.....I am sure you can relate to that! One thing I love about your Dh, he really seems to encourage his wife in her creative efforts! Its so nice to know that he appreciates your creativity and I bet you will make those hats for him that he asked for!! Hats are nice, portable and a manageable project, unline a

Unlike a large afghan or quilt. Now do not ask what happened and why a partial post went through. I cannot figure it out either. But at least the post did not get lost. I think its a great idea for you to walk with your neighbor....even if the walk is not that envigorating, just getting out and having a weekly date is a nice thing. I used to walk early in the morning with my neighbor. We would signal to each other ( I used my side door light and she used her light over the kitchen sink) as an indicator as to whether the other was up and able to walk. She moved, and now I am used to walking by myself. It was nice having company!!
CJ- think like you, certain scenes would bother me to cut at verying heights in a quilt. Yes, I understood exactly what you meant.... I wonder what else you could do with a panel...how you could use a really prety panel and not feel you had ruined it. I know my taste in quilts is mostly traditional, BOM type quilts or symetrical patterns. I can understand why the up and down of the panel quilt could bother you. Well you can go back to the Warm wishes quilt! All this rain is perfect weather for crafting.
Cooked a lot today. And I did make some headway (just a little bit) on cleaning the shed/getting rid of stuff. Also got some crochetting in too. Tomorrow I might work on the bathroom. I took down the wallpaper border and have to finish stripping the glue. Then have to lightly sand the walls and get the room painted. It has needed a fresh paint job for a long time. Dh usually does jobs like this, but he seems to have little inspiration to do that. Also will get to the store tomorrow....we are running low on some items, and I do want to stock up on non perishables in case Florence becomes a problem for us. Hi to Meg and Phyl. Meg, hope your doctor visit goes well tomorrow! Phyl - try not to be overwhelmed by that EPP project! Ginny

Ginny, it does sound like you had yet another extremely busy day, church, cleaning the shed, cooking, crocheting...makes me tired just reading all that and the other things you mentioned that I can't remember right now. One nice thing about my dh being a packrat is that sometimes he actually finds useful things. Yesterday he mentioned a Dirt Devil small handheld vacuum I had no idea what he was talking about until he brought it in from the garage (don't ask me how he ever found it in all that clutter). But he had found it at a garage sale and it was free. The note on it said that it still worked but needed some work.. "so take me for free". Well it works great. I used it to vacuum the car this morning. It's kind of large to fit in the nooks and crannies but it really helps.
Yes dh is very supportive of my crafting and I was surprised to see just how much he liked the things I make even the things for the grandchildren. If I'm crocheting he'll ask what I'm making and ask to see it.
And yes, Phyl, what Ginny said...don't get overwhelmed. Some things are more challenging to learn than others and just think of how great you're going to feel when you conquer yet another type of quilting.
