DotRen glad your son is ok. Nothing is more frightening than thinking something may have happened to our child.

I see, the Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have hired a woman lawyer experienced in sexual assault cases to do their job for them. She will do the questioning. I am hoping the Democrats will do their own questioning. Thats what these senators were elected to do, so damn it do your job. Evidently the Republicans don't trust themselves to not let their biases show thru. Whatever. If Kavanaugh can't handle WH lawyers prepping him for the tough questions, I doubt he's going to do very well against Democrats questioning him. I wonder how many times Grassley will interrupt the Democrats questioning to reprimand them for "inappropriate questions"... ? So, what's everyone doing Thursday???...LOL

Ted Cruz & his wife were heckled, jeered & forced to leave a restaurant. Now, I cannot stand Ted Cruz but I do not think he or anyone else should be jeered & heckled while out with their family at a restaurant. These protesters need to remember that what they did to Cruz could just as easily be done to a Democrat. Karma is a bitch! IMHO it just doesn't accomplish anything & says more about the protesters choosing an inappropriate place to express their opinions which they certainly have a right to do, but please pick a more appropriate setting. O'Rourke came out & defended Ted Cruz saying it was not right that this happened to Cruz & his wife. Says a lot about O'Rouke IMHO.

To be brutally honest, I do think waiting 3 decades to come forward makes her look bad as well It doesn't make her look bad to me at all. Have you any idea how many women and girls don't report sexual assaults because they don't want to go through what Dr. Ford is going through right now or what Anita Hill went through? We all know how that worked out! Please. I had a man try to sexually assault me when I was 13. I'm 73 now and never told any of my family or friends except my sister and that was years later! I didn't want to live it over again, I thought nobody would believe me anyway because the man was a friend of the family. I was embarrassed. I remember exactly where it happened and how it made me feel. Thankfully I was kind of strong and fast back then and NOT in the mood for this jerk. The jerk was not about to sit on the SCOTUS either. Perhaps that's the reason Dr. Ford decided to come forward now. That SCOTUS thing! Hired a woman lawyer. LOL! How progressive. Can they make themselves look anymore clueless, corrupt, and incompetent? Stay tuned. I believe they can.

birdgal, let me rephrase that then: it makes it seem like she's being used at this specific point in time. No one can go back and change what (allegedly) happened, to me: how he's handling it NOW speaks volumes. For someone seeking a seat on the highest court in the land, honesty "do you swear to tell the truth..." needs to be more important than saving his image from 30 years ago.

Ted Cruz & his wife were heckled, jeered & forced to leave a restaurant. Now, I cannot stand Ted Cruz but I do not think he or anyone else should be jeered & heckled while out with their family at a restaurant. I'm on the fence with this one. While I also believe everyone has the right to a night out and a decent meal, I also believe in Gay marriage, which he opposes. I also believe a woman has the right to choose, which he doesn't. I also think Obama Care isn't perfect but it's better than nothing, and I'd like to see immigrants who are already here become US citizens. He and his family had their meal interrupted and I'm sure that wasn't pleasant. Sure, they had the right to enter that restaurant as a family but they don't have anyone like Cruz telling them they are NOT a family if they're Gay. Also, it's more than unpleasant for women or girls to walk through the door of Planned Parenthood (perhaps for a serious health issue consult or test) and be screamed at and called names by angry and uninformed people who believe, like Cruz, that a woman does not have the right to make a decision about her own body. Also, there are sick people out there that didn't have medical insurance before Obama Care. Cruz and his loved ones are covered, etc. It's unpleasant to be sick with no medical coverage or to have a child or parent with no coverage. It's unpleasant to be mocked because of who you love or to be told what you can and can't do with your own body. The things Cruz stands for can hurt a lot of people and make their lives extremely unpleasant or even deadly. While pestering someone out for a meal isn't my cup of tea, I completely understand why people did it. The unpleasant feelings to this cruel behavior will go away as soon as they have a meal someplace else. The cruel unpleasant feelings others have because of his politics can't be fixed that easy. If he was a thinker he might have even learned something by this experience. But, I doubt it.

As for Ted Cruz, I think he is abhorrent. But I also wish the protesters had found another way to make their voice heard. This way, while I can understand their feelings, still just gives Republicans ammunition. I still think Michelle Obama gave very good advice when she said, "when they go low, we go high." Ted Cruz is a swamp creature if there ever was one, but it won't help to get down in the muck with him. May have made those protesters feel a little better for a short time, but most likely bought some sympathy for Cruz from some undecideds. So in reality it just played into his hands.

I so long for the days when the political news was boring, no 24 hour breaking news, no FB, Twitter, etc. Honestly this day in day out chaos is just tiring. I try to stay away, but, in truth I must be addicted to this mess, The whole nation needs a mental health day. At least I do..:-(

Amen to that! It just gets uglier and uglier, and at this point I don't see much hope of it getting better anytime soon.

Just thinking this morning about how far we have fallen. Never would I have imagined that the President of the United States could stand before the United Nations and literally be laughed at. Then last night watched the Senate race debate between Phil Bredesen and Marsha Blackburn. Oh my gosh she is just disgusting. If Tennessee elects her, I may just completely give up all hope for the future.
