I may be the only one having this problem.... I find it disorienting that every thread starts over each day. There is no continuation, where people might respond and have a conversation about a problem or light bulb moment, before it's the next day and it all goes down with a new thread opening. So there are many threads to check, with just a little in each one

Hi cozyhomelife , and welcome to the boards. Not sure which board you are talking about or if you are just making a general observation. I know over on the General Board there are lots of threads that are days long. Everyone can make threads however they want them, you if want just a general conversation thread feel free to start one! If you are talking about the daily check in threads, we do that so people don’t have to try and track down where the end of the thread is. Feel free to jump on in on anything you find interesting, it will bump that thread back up to the top where people will see it.

for instance, it is discouraging that anything I wrote yesterday, is under Thursday, and people will just come today looking for Friday. It's like I didn't even write it, and it's over already. People will just look for the "day's" thread and you might as well not have bothered, because yesterday's is no longer looked at.

That’s not true
There are many times I go back to previous days threads to see if anything new was posted since my last time online

cozyhomelife, if you feel like your post was overlooked, re-post it in the "current days" thread:)

If there is ongoing interest in a thread, every new post will bump it to the top, no matter when it was originally posted.
And, yes, you can do it to your own post, as was mentioned above.

I think that one way of looking at it is to realize that there are two types of threads here. Some are the daily check in threads which tend to be more of a chatty, ephemeral nature. Ideally, I personally would try not to post things in those threads that I thought would start a more lasting conversation. I mostly like the more lasting conversations so I tend to not post often in the daily threads.
The more lasting discussions can last for days (or longer) and have a subject heading. One thing that I found unusual when I got here is that almost all of those discussions are in the General forum. Initially I resisted putting them there feeling they should be in the "right" topic forum. I soon realized that was a losing battle...most people like putting those threads in the General forum. So, I adapted.

I post in the general forum because I really don't like the daily check in threads.
That's what drove me away from the old ww boards. That's why I don't even read any other forums here they are obnoxiously loaded with them.
There are several on the general board now too ugh. I was looking for a place to post random thoughts, happenings, etc. I asked when I first joined and was given the ok. It moves the threads faster but I look back a few days when reading and enjoy that much move than the -daily check in threads.

So, Jae, start a new section and do your 'Random Thoughts'. It could be very interesting.
I personally like the daily threads, as I don't have that much stuff to read through.

obnoxiously loaded with them. What a terribly unfair characterization. DebDoesWW has tried very hard to make sure that there is "something for everyone" here. Many of the people that came over from the other boards were anxious to continue in their daily threads with their friends. Many more found new friends and new homes in new daily friends. You have always been welcome to either join into the daily threads, or just post in or start the "ad hoc" threads on the boards. I personally don't post in the daily threads -

Actually it's accurate, I just looked again and on several boards that's all there is... perfect for those that like them.
Deb does a great job, there IS something for everyone. IMO
I appreciate having this forum, I favor message boards. I'm not a connect style fan.
It all started back with the aol message boards and that style of board and posting stuck with me.
I just hope the general board doesn't get over run with daily threads.
Please Deb?

Jennifer you have been asking this since you joined our forum. It has been like this since you joined, so I am not understanding why you are having issues with it, sorry, most members like it this way and it is the way Rad and I are keeping it. Not sure why you can’t just scroll past threads that don’t interest you. There are two daily threads on the General Board, a landing spot for everyone to check in before they head off to their home boards and a daily menu thread, front and center for accountability.

I take issue with the word "obnoxiously."

Whoa...I'm not asking for anything to be changed, just asking/hoping the general board doesn't get over run with daily threads.
And... I CAN and do ignore them and I don't go to the boards that are almost totally daily threads.. and I do find them obnoxious.
It was my mistake for posting on this thread,I thought it was new and looking now it was a while ago not entirely sure how it popped up on the top of the list for me.

Okay, Jae, I just have to ask --- if you never go to them, why do they bother you? I am definitely misunderstanding something here.
Things that bother me, I just avoid and give them no rule over my life.
Like I said, if you want a Random Thoughts Thread --- start one.
