Happu Monday!!!
Another week begins....hope its one of safety, good health, happiness and crafting time for each of us!
Today started off with a bang.....Dd stopped over for a bit with DGS and DGD#2- she had to drive DGD#1 to kingergarten. No bussing today to a Catholic school (DGD attends one) as today is a Rosh Hashannah.
Ruth, congrats to your Dh on finding a hand held vacuum!!! I have not found anything that great in my cleaning yet and this is going to take a long time for me....
Ok, better get busy. See yaโall later.
CJ- stay safe!!!! I am sure you are prepared....but Florence will probably impact us both. Just want you to be ok through it all. G

Yes from what I've heard on the weather channel it looks as though both of you will be impacted by Florence so please both stay safe. I'll be praying of course and will be staying in touch as I'll have my laptop and tablet both with me...well as long as I figure out how to use other wifi's which shouldn't be all that hard. I already use a different one than my own when mine cuts off.
Well today is the last day at home to get things into the car. It's sure is a lot of prep to go on just a 2 or 3 day trip. and the neighbor called saying he had someone interested in my pickup truck that has been sitting around for years. Lots of people have expressed interest but I haven't really followed thru on any of them so will see how this works out and I think if this person doesn't want it I'll just donate it to some place. There are places around here that take vehicles that don't even work and fix them for those in need.
I hope to get in a little crocheting too after I get the car ready and do a little last minute cleaning... from what I say you would think that I'm going to be gone a month.
Have a fantastic week everyone

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip, looking forward to hearing about it when you get home Ginny - I hope neither of us has any problems from the hurricane. I'm mostly worried about losing power, so I hope that doesn't happen. I am worried for all the people on the coast in SC, NC and VA. I love the Outer Banks and southeastern NC, so I hope there isn't too much damage. I also have family and friends in Tidewater VA so hopefully they'll be O.K. It's cloudy and in the 70s here today. I went out earlier to run errands and get groceries. Otherwise, not much going on with me, which I'm not complaining about Take care everyone!

Ruth, hope you can get some crochetting in!!! Will be praying for a safe journey, and hope you can check in from time to time. If not, i am pretty good at chatting- even if by myself. (Ha haha)
Anyone ever heard ot Lion Brand ZZ twist yarn? I got an email about it today from Joanns. Its supposedly made to hold it shape in a crochet stitch and not to lose shape while crochetting. As if I need more yarn, I am tempted to try a skein and see if it works.

hi been down in the playpen most of the day.think my hips are going to tell me about in the am.
THIS Autumn is in the air wall hanging pattern has a heck of a lot of pieces to it.
didn't look like it on the pattern.
I still have to mark the triangles and things. so it will not be going to sew day in the am.
I will be sewing squares together for the charity group.also I will be taking what I call the music quilt top. I need to sew a couple of rows on that.
the neighbor girl graduated 2 years ago. I started the quilt back then. I better get it done before she graduates collage.lol
our adventure were suppose to meet nita and dick at the cracker barrel at 6 last wednesday.don was on the right exit but swerve because he misread a sign so we drove all around madison for about 45 minutes.was in town by the capital building, university area.which she forgot to tells us.
then don stopped in a store and got us on the right course.
we were by a red robin and don said I don't see it.I said keep going here is a red so then we found the place. turns out nita missed a turn and almost went to sun prairie. good thing they didn't.flooding there.
then thursday was the quilt show. nita and I were to meet up.didn't happen. we didn't hear our phones. she keep trying to call me and her messages went to our home phone. probably because I don't have my voice mail set up.
That was our adventure.
ruth you and dh have a fun time your trip.phyl

Ginny, I looked it up and it looks really nice. It's a good price too and has decent yardage at 246. Only thing is it says it makes lightweight items even though it calls for a J hook so I wonder if it would be good for blankets or afgans and other things designed to keep a person warm. A lighter weight is nice if it also provides warmth. They seem to have some nice colors also. I'm never heard it mentioned on any crochet blogs or sites yet.I'm not going to buy any though unless it's on a super sale because the about a week ago I went to the lion Brand site and they had lots of yarn on clearance for $1 so of course I bought a WHOLE BUNCH of it so I really can't afford to buy any more yarn right now..I don't mean afford in respect to money but in that I have a LOT of yarn but need to buy some so that I can make my grandson his afgan. I thought I had yarn for that but I found that I don't even enough of two colors to make it. If I had figured that out I would have bought the dollar LIon brand with 9 of one color and 6 of a second color. I did but variegated colors and for the afgan I want to make him I want solid colors. Ginny, we may be camping for a couple days so may not have internet access. I'm not sure yet. But luckily we never have to talk to ourselves..we can always talk to God even though some have criticized VP Pence and said he was weird because he says he talks to God.I know I need God to give me strength and if anyone thinks I'm weird because of that well so be it. So now that I've gone down to the mailbox I realize that I have to AGAIN clean the inside of the windshield because it's still smeary. I can never get the inside of the windshield grease free or smudge free or whatever it is on there. I've added ammonia to Windex and that didn't seem to make a difference. Maybe I should add vinegar...yes that could be a plan Don't know if I'll get on here before we leave in the morning or not so will probably not be posting at least till tomorrow evening sometime. See you then.

Ginny, good thing you cooked a lot yesterday. I hope you have leftovers that will be good to eat if you lose power. I forgot to say that my brother and two neices live in NC.
Also today was my oldest great grandboy's birthday. He's now two. They posted a picture of him and it's just eerie how much he looks like my grandson. You would think you were looking at a picture of my grandson when he was that age except that my grandson had more hair.

Thank you Phyl. I seem to have missed your post above. I'm sorry to hear that the quilt has a lot more pieces than you expected but again, sometimes a challenge is a good thing. We feel so good after we've successfully completed the challenge.Yes it does sound as if you had quite an adventure. I'm glad you finally found your friends and were able to avoid the flooding.
Yes I know well the feeling of starting something for a particular person for a certain occaision and ending up hoping it will at least be done before another special occaision comes around.
I spent some of my afternoon killing hornets or wasps or whatever they are. They make their little nests behind the mirrors on my vehicles and also in the door frames. Today there were also some under the little door over the gas cap. Good thing I hadn't gone to fill it up and opened it and had all those wasps or hornets swarm out at me.Dh is more leary of them than I am. He waves his arms at them and I keep telling him not to. They fly all around me and never land but this evening he swatted at one and it got him back. Luckily just a surface sting so it didn't get to sting him fully. Still his arm was red and swollen.

Boy this is some retirement...I drove again this am!
Ruth- safe and happy trip! The film on the inside of your windshield is best handled by a product called Invisible Glass. Its not the cheapest thing but is the best way to quickly remove road film from the inside of windshields..
Phyl- sounds like you have had many adventures in the past day!! Glad it all worked out and you got done what you set out to do. My phone does not always ring, so I understand how miscommunication can happen. That music quilt sounds so nice....and I am sure she will love it whenever she gets it.

hi crafters, today is sad for all of us. I imagine every time there is some kind of attack it brings back memories to the ones left behind.hurts just as much as the day it happened.
I have been told when a person loses a child a day comes and something triggers it and it hurts just as much as the day it happened.my sis lost adult child to a gun shot (long story).she said when sandy hook, gabriel in az,and then her dgs getting shot it hurts just as much as the day it happens.
sally told me the same thing.she lost a 15 month and a 17 year old.
today was my check up with the oncologist. yes this is a blood cancer.platelets were up a little from last month.so back on two pills during the week and one pill on weekends. I will see him in 6 months unless there are changes.
dr.pete asked me about side effects. one was did I noticed hair falling out. I told him it better not as my hair is thin enough now.like I could do anything about it.lol.
I was in my for awhile.was going to cut out the other fall pattern. not sure I have enough back ground fabric again. I DO have a piece that measure's 1/2 yard but not wide enough to get all the back ground cut out.
now I am thinking do this one in jewel colors or batiks.maybe go with what I got. it is another leaves pattern.
ginny I AM sure your driving will slow down. phyl

Good evening!
Yes, Phyl Patriots Day brings many different emotions to many....and for those who lost a loved one its particularly hard. Not sure that that pain ever goes away.....I suppose that you just find better coping strategies. Then the pain can come back almost as bad as when it first started.....so very sad and such a senseless loss.... Prayers for those who are still feeling the effects of losing someone 17 years ago. I do think that Fox news did a fine job of trying to keep Patriots Day in proper perspective- and offerred a fitting remembrance of the solemn event. So sorry that your platelets are back up a bit- and that it is indeed a cancer. I pray that the therapy is effective and keeps the disease under excellent control for a very very long time. Jewel tones and batiks would be LOVELY for a fall pattern!! Hope you can find something in your stash.
Going in to work tomorrow am, morning only. I did get some work done on the afghan. WHen I finish this row, I will put the edging on the afghan and then move on to another project.
Prayers for those in the path of Florence. Stay safe all. Ruth, hope you and Dh are having a great time. Ginny

Good Morning!
Gee, its quiet here without Ruth.
Phyl, just curious. Do you tolerate your medication well? Some suffer from side effects a lot, and I hope that is not the case for you.
CJ- stay safe!! It appears as though Florence, while it might impact you, will not have horrific impacts. Please forgive me if I am wrong. I am just praying for your safety and that you can stay in the comfort of your own home.
Meg- how did your doctors visits on Monday go? As we have not heard much, I hope you are ok- that your bloodwork was good and that you did not require treatment.
Worked this am- but, now I am seeing what I hoped- I was asked this am to help out with driver evaluations- which is something that can be planned and scheduled. Much better than dealing with uncooperative students. I was home by 8 am- so its very managable.
Hope to get some crochetting time in later on. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here has been partly cloudy and partly sunny with highs in the low 80s. It's humid, but not as hot, so that's been nice. It does look like most of the hurricane will stay well south of the DC metro area, so hopefully we'll only get a bit of rain by the weekend or next week. I'm hoping my relatives and friends that are in NC and VA don't have any problems. I haven't been doing much, just taking care of some errands and business. I'm hoping to work on the Warm Wishes quilt soon, or maybe a smaller quilt that I saw and liked. Hope you are getting to do some crafting. Take care everyone!

CJ, I too hope that your family further south are ok and stay safe through Florence. Are they evacuating? Seems like a large area of NC is going elsewhere for safety. Will remember them in my prayers, and you too! Its no fun worrying about loved ones.
Busy with some banking issues today....hopeing to settle in later on and crochet. Little by little I go through stuff from the attic....so much less stuff will return up there.
I got no phone call this afternoon, so I do not have to drive tomorrow. That is good....but we have to babysit.
Hope Meg, Phyl and Ruth are doing fine. Ginny
