hi, cj I can remember nancy doing a show with quilts from that book. I tried looking that book up on her site.I don't need any more books.
I have some neutrals and beige fabrics. just not enough for the pattern. my friend marilyn who passed this spring was a great hand stitcher. her stitches were so tiny and even. had I known that I would have had marliyn give me a few lessons.I miss her.
I have not done anything today.was watching qvc fall fashion shows for awhile. then came in here and spent to much time on the computer.watched the nebraska football game. they lost darn it. they have a new coach so it will take time to work together.
maybe I will be in my playpen for awhile.
also hope we hear from meg.phyl

Well everyone has checked in, with the exception of Meg, I do remember that she has had computer issues, or even when Devin takes up a lot of computer time. THe older he gets the more school projects he will get that require computer time.
CJ- that quilt is very simple and so very pretty! Even better yet is that you are happy the way it turned out!
Phyl - hand stitching is indeed an art. Perhaps you can find someone else to tutor you in the process or spend some time on youtube. That is how I taught myself to stipple after watching a ton of youtubes.
Been working on getting the attic stuff ready to go back in. I would still like to eliminate one more plastic tub of stuff. That will be for another day. But the pile of goods to be donated is growing. Its all good.

CJ, it's great that you got that book and that it was also a good price. I love the quilt you mentioned and I can already see it in my mind in various color combos. I think you're smart waiting to contact relatives As you said it could just elevate their anxiety and they don't need that.
Ginny. I'm glad to hear that not only did the brace arrive but it also is going to be very helpful to you. Rest obviously helped so if you went back to doing what you were doing it would undoubtedly start to hurt again so this brace will be a great thing for you. And congrats on getting yet more things sorted out
Now you would think that before I ordered yarn for a specific project that I would check to see how much I needed but no, not me. I was crocheting along and was wondering if I was going to have enough yarn so I finally stopped and checked the pattern requirements and sure enough, I need 200gms of the main yarn and I only ordered one 100gm skein. I do have an idea of a way to improvise. Luckily the yarn is from Hobby Lobby and we do have one here so if needed I can go over there and get another. I was thinking it was from Joann's and I would have to order and either by a lot of yarn I really don't need or pay shipping so thankfully that was not the case. This is for a ragdoll giraffe I'm making for my dgd. It has 29 pieces!!!! It uses 3 different colors, main color yellow, then a dark brown and a tan. For the tan you use very little so I'm thinking that if or when I run out of yellow which is used for the main body parts I can just use the tan for the back of the body and head instead of yellow. She will probably just think that that's what the pattern called for.
Have a great evening everyone

And CJ, I think you are much better at quilting than you think you are. Many of us are too critical of ourselves and our work and as I mentioned either this morning or yesterday, if you look at some of the so called experts they are not perfect either. On the thread Meg had on the old WW board many of us talked about how we would rip something out even way back to the start rather than leave a mistake even if it would never be noticed by anyone else. I finally am past that to a certain extent. for instance in the Christmas tree skirt I found a couple places where I had made a mistake that even I wouldn't have noticed had I not had to crochet into that spot so found it. It made no difference whatever in the outcome of the skirt so I left them. I wasn't going to rip out nearly a thousand stitches unless it was REALLY necessary. Unless someone that really knows crocheting sits down and inspects every inch of the skirt those mistakes will never, ever be noticed.

This is the weekend for babies I guess. I think it was yesterday my #3 brother became a grandfather again and today #2 brother became a great grandfather..Both girls and both have the name Ryleigh. Must be the name of the year. One has the first name Ryleigh and the other it's her middle name but she has an unusual first name too..Maisyn. Maisyn and her parents as well as her grandma, my neice, live in NC so luckily they don't live on the coast.
Well on the ragdoll giraffe, 29 pieces is misleading because, thankfully there are not 29 pieces that have to be sewn together but there still are a LOT. I'm using I love that cotton by Hobby Lobby and I do love it. Never worked with it before but it's nice.
Took care of some business getting my truck title notorized at the neighbors home. She's an accountant and of course a notary. The truck went to a friend of theirs. Finally have disposed of that truck so won't have a bunch of people stopping all the time asking if I want to sell it. One man asked about it 4 months ago and never stopped back until yesterday when my dh was out in the yard..the man stopped and said that he had asked about it and saw that it's now gone and wanted to know if we sold it. I told my dh he should have told the guy... you snooze, you lose. The neighbor is also the one I made the hotpads and potholders for so I took them over today and they liked them.
So today is going to be sitting and crocheting. It's a hot day.

Ruth, congrats on getting rid of the truck! It appears as though it was an easy process for you. Better that than a lot of work. Apprecialte the recommendation of the Hobby Lobby yarn. I will have to check that out- I am hoping to get to HL some time this week.
Not sure what this week will bring. We baby sit tomorrow am early, so it will be a long day for me. I am hoping to have the energy to get to bible study tomorrow evening. Lets see how that goes. And I totally agree with Ruth on her assessment of CJās quilting. Most folks do not notice mistakes at all!! And remember what the Amish do- they intentionally make a mistake on each quilt, because only God is perfect! So see, mistakes are ok.
Gotta get some clothes sorted to donate. THen I think I will build a fire outside and study a bit. Ginny

Some real tragedies have happened to people on the other thread I post on. The first one was a coworker of one of those ladies lost her 12 year old grandson when he got off the lawn mower and was standing behind it when it rolled backward and over him killing him. Another of the ladies has s 23 year old grandaughter that graduated from a college nursing program back in the spring and just a couple days ago was finally offered a nursing postion...all the hospitals claim to be short of staff but all want experienced people not new grads...and she and her mother were very happy about that of course and suddenly today the mother who was only 51 years old had a sudden, apparently massive heart attack and died in the girls arms. The coworker who lost the grandson in the mowing accident just lost her nephew about a month ago to suicide also.Apparently he was quite young too.
