GOOD AFTERNOON, TRYING TO GET SOME CLEANING DONE. NOT GETTING VERY FAR.
I am taking summer decorations down and putting some fall up.might be a little early.have to do it when I am in the mood.that puts me behind.
as theresa says everything does not have to be in one day.well maybe not,but I do want the upstairs to get done.I have just let things go to long.
I would get off the computer in between I could get done.
ruth those are two sad tragedies. to lose a child or grandson is so very hard.I watched my sister and bil bury a 27 year old son.
then to have a happy celebration marred by a death.
will say prayers for both families. praying both families can go forward.this will take a long time.
well back to the grindstone. phyl

Hello to all and I hope you've had a good Monday so far and that you all have a great week.
Well I wasn't expecting to go looking at cars today but we did. Once we got there we found that we could get a brand new 2019 for the same price as very similar preowned vehicles so we did buy one. It's pretty nice but I don't know why people need some of those things on a car like internet access, etc. I'm sure I'll never use any of those nor the GPS. We never even listen to our radio.Never used the gadgets on the vehicles we have. I never even set the clock. I really dislike buying vehicles but hopefully this one will last me as long as the one I'm replacing and I don't expect to need another vehicle after that period of time. I'd be nearly 100 years old.Strange thing is that we drove the one we're replacing over there and it seemed fine so don't know what the problem was that we had when we returned from our trip. At least now though we can go on trips without worrying....hopefully anyway.
It's a hot day again today but we can look forward to a cooler temp later in the week.

Good evening!
Well today was crazy, one of those days in which chaos rained but it all turned out pretty much ok
Phyl, Rome was not built in a day and fall is not really here yet. So as long as your decor gets switched in a reasonable time, its no big deal. Previous years, when I was working, my fall decor did not come out for another couple of weeks. Try not to stress yourself too much....but it does nice to have fall colors out around the house. One thing nice about cleaning, its very patient and the housework always waits for you!! I like Theresa’s thinking, it does not have to get done all in one day.
Ruth, congrats on the car purchase!! Hope that this new vehicle serves you and Dh for many many many years. THe newer cars seem to have better warrantees tthan they did 20 years ago. Totally agree with your logic- noone wants to be concerned about their car while travelling, so this is a perfect solution. May you and Dh enjoy this vehicle for many years.
Well, I had to babysit today. thought I was going to leave at 6:30 to go to Dd’s and I got a panic text that she needed me there almost 30 minutes sooner. Thank goodness I was pretty much ready to go- and was able to finish getting ready super quickly and get to her house on time. The grand kids were great for me....nice to spend the day with them.
Gotta babysit again tomorrow, after I get my hair cut.
Meg and CJ you are missed! Ginny

PHyl, yes I have the same problem in getting things done. I start but then the computer calls me. I take lots of breaks...and Theresa is right and so is Ginny. Some people really wear themselves out cleaning and for what. I like a clean house but there are priorities.
Ginny, you're daughter is very blessed to have you. I was so thankful that we had my mother and sister when our kids were small. I don't know that I showed them the appreciation that I should have though. You don't think of those things at the time but as years go by you realize that they are things you should have done but didn't do.I'm glad the children were good for you and that you had a good time being with them. I hope tomorrow goes just as well.
I didn't do any crocheting yesterday and haven't got to it today yet either. I think dh is probably going to be taking a nap soon. He was a little shall we say excited or maybe feeling anxious about the new car but I think he's calmer now. He does a lot of worrying and does a lot of thinking..well maybe we should have done this or maybe we should have done that. My idea is that when something is done don't look back.
Well I'm going to go try to get some crocheting done and maybe have the tv on for company. Can't say I really watch
I do hope we hear from Meg. It was a week ago yesterday that we "saw" her last and the day of her doctor appointment so I hope all went well and she's just either tired or having computer issues

Me too, I am concerned about Meg.
SPeaking of housework, our house looks like a bomb hit it, but then I have had so little down time. Just got dinner started, so that when I return from babysitting I do not have a ton to do. Ruth, hope that Dh calms down about the car purchase. Of course it seems like a boatload of money! (We got a new vehicle about 18 months ago). But the security of not having to worry about it breaking down is such a blessing....do not think being broken down along a busy highway (or desolate road) is something any of us wants, especially as mature citizens.
Gotta get my day started, and get in the shower to go get my hair done and then babysit. I just have the baby today. Hopefully she will be easy to care for. Ginny

Good morning to all. I was hoping to see Meg. I wonder how we could find out if she's ok. I wouldn't want to be intrusive though.
Ginny, I think taking care of a baby that age would not be really easy. They really can't play on their own and I guess you have to keep them occupied. I remember when I used to take care of my ds' oldest. I had one of those little seats in a circle thing that had toys built in that he liked to sit in and I would also take him for walks sometimes. And then he always had a nap. Since I didn't have him every day I had a lot of fun talking and singing to him and playing with his toys with him. He was a really good baby and I even took him to work meetings and he never interrupted the meetings with whining or crying.Still can't believe he's almost 20 now. Since you're taking care of her at her own home at least you have all her things right there which would help some
I didn't get in any crocheting after all yesterday. I am definitely going to try today. I don't know if dh has plans to go anywhere or not as he is taking a nap.At least he won't wake up grumpy from having to decide about cars. I never have bought a vehicle from this dealer before but if I ever have to buy another it will probably be them. I asked for some items to be included for no extra cost and they did that and they actually delivered my car to my house for me as dh hates to drive and didn't really want to have to drive clear across town. Since we weren't trading in the other car we had two to get home. the dealer, like almost everything else, is way over there.
Have a great day everyone and I hope you all have a chance to enjoy the things you like to do

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Congratulations on the new car. I agree with you about all those fancy gadgets on the cars, I wish I could just find a simple one to buy, but I know they don't make those anymore. I'm sure it is a relief to have a reliable vehicle. Phyl - Hope you enjoy putting out your fall decorations. I love this time of year so it's fun to see all the pumpkins, etc. Ginny - I hope things go well with the babysitting today. Your DD and her kids are sure fortunate to have you to help them. Meg - Hope things are O.K. with you. The weather here has been so muggy and showery the last few days. We're finally going to have some clear days for the rest of the week, with temps in the 80s. I can't wait for the 70s and lower temps again. The humidity in the house is so bad that my portable AC just keeps filling up with water, several times a day, so I just shut if off and I'm using fans instead. I'm hoping I can put it away for the season by next week. I haven't done any crafting, just not in the mood. I did check out the blogs linked to Kathy's Slow Stitch Sunday website and also here's a link to Pat Sloan's #6 block for her Merry and Bright quilt - there are some interesting fabric creations shown: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2018/09/merry-bright-sew-along-block-6.htmlTake care everyone!

CJ, I like #9 and 10 and the block she shows at the top of the page with the cars and things in it. I wouldn't mind having a whole quilt made of just that star block. I'm glad your days are going to be cooler. Ours are too. At least here our a/c doesn't fill with water because we have no humidity.
I haven't crocheted either CJ so you're not the only one not crafting. Now I'm trying to take care of a small thing that came up so that's taking up my mind....lol

Well, first before I forget the numbers, I like #36, 33 and 27 of those blocks. LOVE 36 for the non traditional color scheme and the look of reproduction fabric.
Ruth- so glad your car was delivered and the dealership took such good care of you! Dealerships have come a long way, as have domestic car manufacturers. (We bought our first domestic car in many years a summer ago). May this car serve you and Dh well and provide many care free years of service. I wish I could send some humidty to you. Think CJ and I have had enough of it here.
CJ- thanks for posting the Pat Sloan link. Guess its later in the week and there are lots of entries from different people. So many different ways of viewing the same block. Like you, I have had little time or inclination to craft. Its hot and muggy, and even with AC, still feels sticky. I do hope that cooler temps are on the way for you and that you can put the air conditioner away for the season soon!
Got my hair done- then watched DGD for awhile. She is such a sweet baby. Dh and I will have her here Thursday-both her siblings will be in school. Dh and I saved a lot of stuff from our kids- so we really do have a lot here for them. With the attic cleaning I consolodated the toys and, well there is quite a bit. We have an exersaucer for Dgd and a fair amount of other toys for a baby her age. I am hoping that Thursday we can take her for a walk in the stroller, she seems to enjoy that.
Today I signed up my pastors wife and myself for a quilting class in November. Its a Christmas tree applique table runner, made in 2 sessions. Another woman from our church is also taking the class, so perhaps we can carpool. It is not the class of my choice, but I promised my pastors wife we would take a quilting class together, so I let her pick.
Long day and I am tired. We all have off tomorrow.....Dh and I are going out for breakfast with friends. I am working Thursday am, just the morning shift.
Meg, you are missed!!! I will email her....perhaps a family member checks her email for her. G

I does sound like she's a really good baby. Some just have such sweet dispositions!
I'll have to go back and check those quilt blocks again so I can see what you mean by reproduction prints.
I didn't think of emailing Meg. Last time she was missing I did and no one answered.

I'm so glad you heard from Meg and that she is ok. I should have thought of emailing her.
This morning I'm waiting around for return phone calls and I'm not good at waiting but I guess I'll use the time to crochet. It's hard for me to do things like crocheting when I'm waiting for something like that.

Went for my walk today......then out for breakfast with friends. I forgot to bring the thumb brace with me for breakfast, so the thumb seems a bit weak. Guess I will have to baby it for while, see how it goes.
Got one more tub of stuff ready for donation today, and unloaded some stuff from the shed. Little by little it gets done. Still have SO much to clean up!!!
Hope to crochet this evening for a little bit.
Ruth- hope that your car issues are taken care of and that the phone call you are waiting for came through. So darned frustrating when it seems like days of waiting for one phone call. G

You're really making progress, Ginny, on the decluttering. We used to have a thread on the old WW board that had to do with decluttering. Everyone posted about what all they were getting rid of in one way or another. I hope you had a good time with your friends. I love having breakfast out except that the foods I like are calorie laden and have gluten and then I'm tempted to eat them anyway and then my stomach hurts.
