We went to the b/day party. Low key affair which is great w/ me but I started to feel as if I were going to doze so we made a fairly early exit. Plus, my tummy has been feeling testy, so I didn't eat anything. I just drank water.
SANDY I walked the dog around 11 or so, while I was wearing capris and a medium weight knit top. About 2:00 a friend came by and I said we should sit on the front porch and she NO WAY. While she was out walking around (also in capris) that front came in very suddenly. COLD wind and it had dropped from the 70's to the 40's. Brutal wind. Right now it's 41 but feels like 30 w/ the wind chill.
SUZE, Bob and I both put on matching Christmas Santa caps and ugly sweaters but they weren't matching, alas.
OH DEAR NO STEPH. That girl sounds like a potential crisis in the making would she be traveling with you and a bunch of young girls. NOPE.
SUZE I like your attempted goal as well as your actual ELF goal. People that live alone can so easily feel lost in the midst of all the hectic holiday plans everyone has.
My ELF was to go to the b/day party and see my friend. I really wanted to take a pass. But I think she also needs to have her mind somewhat off her illnesses at least for a minute or two. SHe's had such a rough couple of months. Partial removal of 1 lung for cancer, followed immediately by severe back pain. Then she had a thoracic vertebrae repaired, followed shortly after by ANOTHER thoracic vertebrae repair. Now she needs to have some kind of procedure in her lumbar spine. Back surgery is so awful b/c I have almost NEVER seen people get better w/ just one surgery. She was in pretty bad shape. I'll need to do something nice for her when I'm not falling asleep. I did bring her red and green M&Ms b/c she loves M&Ms. She hasn't had much of an appetite and has been living on Ensure so she can stand the extra calories.
Petey's kind of punk today. Not eating and not active but (knock on wood) not throwing up. I do not want a repeat of last weekend where I had to postpone surgery. B/c if I do I'm waiting until after the holidays.

Greetings from the TUNDRA! Last I saw it is now 1 with windchill of - 22 ... Brrrrr for sure! Off & on snow....hasn't amounted to much but it is swirling around with the wind.
Louise...healing vibes for your dd....hope all goes well for her.
Becky....I wondered if you had been on BP meds. Do you have a follow up appt after being off them for a bit?
Celeste....too much fun for you last night, huh? Silly girl!
Suze....what color siding did you choose? it does dress up a house....and cuts down on a lot of maintenance.
Mary....that recipe sounds good.....enjoy! And what a mess with the water issue....it was just on the national news..
Steph....rough night last night. I sure wouldn't take that student anywhere &.hope she gets some help, too.
Connie.....haha on Comet
We were in Christmas prep mode today. Rick does most of the baking, and today he made peanut blossoms, pecan tassies, and date pinwheels. I got 1 batch of caramel corn done & did quite a bit of wrapping done. We had Christmas music on & watched one Halmark movie, too. A fun day!
Tonight we have a little party to go to. It will be my ELFG .... These are very casual acquaintances, it is beyond frigid outside, but I'll put on a smile & be nice....much as I would much rather stay snuggled in at home.
Stay warm....and send an extra heat this way, please!

Sandy,The sun didn't come out here until about 2:00.Our front hasn't made it yet thank goodness.
Louise,Sending prayers up for DD.
Celeste,138 people is a big party.LOL on not being hungover in forever again. The last time I saw my NP was in August.I was according to her 20 lbs heavier then and I was having no symptoms of low BP.According to her chart I still weighed 165 or so back then.I was a little light headed a time or 2 this morning but it went away as fast as it came and already being off the meds just 1 day has seemed to help my constipation.I hope it continues. She did say I wasn't on a very high dose or that I could have been on.I do think her solution of just keep checking it at HEB was a little neglectful. However my owner/coach at Curves said she has the regular cuff BP machine and she said anytime I wanted or needed her to she would take it for me b/c the machines tend to lower your BP sometimes she said.
Sandy,I'm glad I don't live where you live.Austin is expecting a low of 28 with wind gusts of up to 40 MPH.I would like your stew.
Suze,Our high was 83 today.I just started to post our cold front wasn't here yet when the wind started up.It is here.I prob wouldn't have gone to see about my BP except I'm on a former WW group on Facebook and one lady is a nurse and she kept urging me to go and now I'm glad I did b/c I do feel better tonight.
Steph,What an ordeal to have to go thru with a middle school age student.I hope you are able to rest and recoup today.
I went to Curves this morning while Kenneth went to buy a few groceries for the w/e then we went to Bastrop to buy heart worm preventative for Scooter, came home to bring home to put up groceries and 10 min later we were on the way to a cattle auction not to buy or sell but Kenneth thought they would have a big Christmas spread and he wanted to see some of his friends.Turned out the only 2 things they served were sausage wraps and stew.I got a sausage wrap and took the bread off and ended up eating 1/2 sausage link b/c it was so greasy.Yuk!
Since the wind picked up Scooter has been looking at the door like she's scared of it.Kenneth is dog sitting right now with her just part way on his lap and the back legs on the floor.

Angie,That is too coooold! No followup suggested.I'm thinking about changing to another NP in the practice after the 1st of the yr when she will be on my new Aetna insurance plan or finding a doctor in Bastrop or Smithville.I really like my NP but she has dropped the ball on this I think esp with telling me to take my BP at HEB.I have been on BP meds forever it seems like it and it seemed odd not taking one this morning.I am glad to be off of them however. That would be an ELFG for me in your weather conditions too.

I will type up the recipe and send it to you by email. I did not use a crock pot and cooked it in pot on stove. Very good! I had 7 servings but recipe said 4 (would have been really big) and you could probably get 8 servings out of it. Waiting for it to cool before I put it in the fridge.
Cold has not hit here yet. Say after midnight around 3 when the wind really starts to blow. However, Cedar Park is already down to 37 and Lockhart is at 53. 8:24 p.m. CST. I have a string of towns coming towards Victoria so I can get an idea of when it might really hit here. Most are @30 miles apart. Gonzales is still at 71 and is 60 miles from Victoria.

ANGELA (hahaha who stole Angie), it's 25 here now.... wind chill of 10. I still have to do my 9PM dog walk but i don't want to and neither does Petey. Your day sounds really fun and festive and "getting in the holiday mood". But I had to reread the part about DH doing the baking. The thought of Bob... OMG.... You're killin' me here. He can't even do those cookies in a tube where you cut them off and bake them. NO WAY. And I like your elf goal. It's the kind where you DO really have to give. Instead of sitting at home snuggled up you went to spread the Christmas cheer.
SUZE recently I think it was Steve Harvey who had Lorena and John Bobbit on (separately), I really don't know which one was loonier and who was telling the truth.
BECKY I'm glad to hear that your Curves lady has a BP cuff. Definitely worth having. I bought one when I had that quick bout of HBP. Of course lord knows where I PUT IT! hahaha And though I Love stew, the food at that auction doesn't sound particularly appetizing.
SANDY your weather and ours is about the same.
MARY let me tell you when that front hits... it hits FAST AND HARD.
I ate leftover mole and zucchini for dinner w/ some pineapple. I need to go shopping tomorrow. I also realized I tried to send in the $$ for my car registration and they sent it back. Not sure if it's statewide, but your inspection date has to be w/in 90 days of the registration and it's all entered on the computer database. So I guess my inspection needs to be redone ASAP. Maybe tomorrow on the way to the grocery store.
I'm making liver and onions tomorrow for my dinner. But Bob won't touch it so he'll get chicken breast I guess.
EGADS I really need to be going for that walk. I can hear the wind HOWLING out there. It's gonna be a SHORT WALK I can tell. Then I think I'll get ready for bed. Night all.

Autumn took a nap with me this afternoon. Phone kept going off, so I muted it. Doze off & she starts jerking in her sleep, so I wake her up & she says she does that when she's about to go in a deep sleep. Told her to cut it out. She hasn't slept with me in a long time b/c she kicks. If we go anywhere, she sleeps w/ her dad & Zachary sleeps w/ me (he won't sleep w/ her either...guess after getting hit in the face, we're done w/ that). 3rd time was Zachary yelling for Autumn. Not sure what that was all about, but I yelled at him to stop & I guess she got up and left too. Finally got up at 6:00 & we went to Red Lobster. Was not that great, probably won't go there again. The waiter kept calling DH "bud"....did NOT go over very well w/ either of us. Young guy. The manager came over to take Autumn's meal off the ticket, b/c it wasn't cooked to what she asked. I told him the food wasn't the issue, it was the young guy calling my husband "bud" and we're not on the same level. I know y'all get what I'm saying....manners, respect. Zachary picked up on it first.
We went in to eat w/ it being upper 60s and walked out to cold wind blowing. Front came in an hour earlier than expected and it's going to be cold when we go to church in the morning. And I would NOT take the cold our northern friends are having for anything. This is cold enough. Ughh....hate it!!!
I do have 2 more days w/ students. Got to get grading done tomorrow afternoon to have grades entered by Mon. I'll take a couple of days to rest up & have dr appts. BUT....I'm on a committee and I have textbooks & websites to review before Jan 11. I'll put them by my bed to have reading material at night or when I want to just lay around upstairs over the break.
Louise, how's your DD?
Becky, so glad you did not hurt yourself when you passed out. Totally agree that you need to look for a different dr/np.
Celeste, did you reschedule Petey's surgery or cancel it all together? Missed that part.
Mary, saw the CC water thing this week (about the only news I saw). When we go down for swim meets, we always take bottle water. I've never liked the taste. Never thought about the restaurants having to close.
Waves to Connie, Angie, Sandy, Suze - heading back to bed. Y'all have a great evening. Stay warm.
(Spell check is not working on this site....don't like that)

SHORTEST. WALK. EVER. It was brutally windy and cold. But I was out there long enough (like 2 minutes) that now I'm sneezing and barking like a seal. UGH.
STEPH both myself and my DD do that big jerk thing sometimes right before we slip into sleep. I was told that it was our reticular system (responsible for wake and sleep) is moving from wakefullness to sleep and at that precise moment some people react physically to it. My DD also had this creepy thing that as she was waking up, she would be completely unable to speak or move for a few seconds. It's called sleep paralysis and happens when the brain isn't moving smoothly through the various levels of sleep. Scared the bejeezus out of both of us. But then we found out that it's b/c the body is unable to move during REM sleep and it's as if the brain was still in REM but also becoming conscious. You're aware of your surroundings before REM is completely over. And yes Petey is scheduled for Monday again. I'm giving him Cerenia for nausea for 3 days prior to the surgery to see if we can avoid another weekend like the last one. He's not having a great day but no vomiting at least.
Tomorrow I'm cooking his entire dinner no dogfood at all.. It will contain liver, ground beef, rice, some green beans and cottage cheese. I don't know if he'll eat it but if he doesn't... I WILL hahaha. I used to make this for another dog years ago, but that dog would eat ANYTHING. But this was a recipe I found online from a woman w/ a very underweight, picky eater. Here's hoping. Funny but she said if she made it more than 3 days in advance, he wouldn't eat it. Didn't make any difference if she made it and froze it or what. She mostly made 2 days of it at a time.
OK once my coughing gets under control I think my boy and I will head to bed. Good night for REELZ this time.

So you know how I complained about how cold it was here yesterday....This evening when I came to work it was 65. But overnight it will fall thru the 40s and tomorrow during the day it will get into the 20s. My mucus membranes are super dried out from the low humidity so every time I blow my nose it bleeds. And my lips are chapped. Nasty weather!
As soon as I got up, we went out to meet some friends for dinner. The gal just lost her father last week. She's having a really hard time. She hasn't STARTED her Christmas shopping yet and has no desire to. Her husband just switched jobs, they just bought a new (to them) truck, and she has a daughter and son in law with 2 grandkids and a dog living with them (and not doing ANYTHING to help around the house that they constantly destroy!). Lots of change/stress. I'd love to think of an ELF to do for/with her. But she is always stuck babysitting the grandkids while the parents are at work, so she can't get away.
We went to eat at Graziano's pizza and I ate the largest Italian sub you've ever laid eyes on. Then I ordered a Calzone to bring for lunch at work. Thank goodness I only packed half of it. I'm blaming the winter weather!

I cannot believe Christmas is next weekend. It just doesn't seem like it's time for it. Maybe when I start wrapping, it will help.
I haven't heard from dd this morning, but when I talked with her last night, she felt a lot better.

Good morning. I'm going to get Lu up and put her sweatshirt on and take a walk. I'm aure it will be short. Last night she went out potty by herself and the trips were just long enough to do her business and get back to the porch. At least the wind has died down.

Good Morning,
Got to be at church early this morning. Kids are lighting the Advent candle today. Zachary gets to light the main candle at the Christmas Eve service. Then home for laundry, grading & some house cleaning before seeing a movie tonight. Really don't want to go out in the cold, but have no choice.
BBL...y'all have a great Sunday!
