Baby that wind is frigid! Lu would have walked as much as I asked her to, but once around the block was enough. And she acts like her sweatshirt is a atraight jacket, lol.
Put together hash brown casserole for funeral dinner later, I will go to church, drop off dish and a bowl of C $D to Robbie. Much to do at home later.
Enjoy the day!

Celeste,Kenneth said the stew was good and the sausage was grilled but to me it tasted greasy which is why I only ate 1/2 link.I did have 2 of his crackers.Kenneth also got a sausage wrap after finishing the rest of mine but put BBQ sauce on it and he said it didn't taste greasy to him.I guess not with the BBQ sauce on it.I liked the food at the Bastrop auction on Wednesday much better and healthier.Since we had chili beans last night I didn't get in my salad yesterday but not leaving the house today so I will have a salad at lunch.I'm still thinking about buying a cuff if I can get one inexpensive enough b/c I do only go to Curves 3 x week. However this is my 2nd day off the pills and I feel good just still tired.I have been asleep the last 2 nights by 10 but Scooter and Kit Kat don't like me to sleep very long at a time.Scooter spent the entire night with me on the recliner and has already wanted up here earlier but I won't let her up when I am on the laptop.
It's still cold even in the house. We have on the gas heater and electric heater and it was still 62 degrees in here so Kenneth turned up the gas heater and it's 64 now.I can see a warm spell coming. Not!
Steph,I used to jerk when I was about to fall asleep.I'm glad you got some kind of nap anyway.I wouldn't like it if the waiter called Kenneth bud either.I understand you wanting to just lay around upstairs with your schedule.I'm thinking seriously about changing but I don't like either of the Dr's in this clinic and one of them is retiring soon.I like being just 20 min away from the clinic.Thank goodness only my butt hurt and still does when I sit a certain way.
Celeste,I hope Petey does well tomorrow.Green beans is prob the only thing Scooter won't eat. That would be scary not being able to speak or move when first waking up.
Connie,The living conditions your friend is living under with the kids not helping around the house would not be happening here.I'm sure meeting them for dinner was a good ELFG to her.
Louise,I'm glad your DD was feeling better last night and it is hard to believe Christmas is just a week away.
Suze,Our wind died down some but it's still blowing too much for Scooter to even go out long enough to do her business.
Steph,We decided to not even go to church this morning b/c we can't leave Scooter in with Kit Kat alone and I'm not leaving her outside. They are also having a Christmas program tonight so I guess that's out too.Since it's still going to be cold tomorrow I prob won't get to Curves for the same reason. They will be closed Friday so I hope to get in at least 2 of the 3 days left available.
Even though I am still retaining some fluid from the sausage yesterday I did lose another 1.2 lbs last week.I need to learn how to maintain now without gaining it back.
Stay warm everyone!

CONNIE I"ll join you with the chapped lips. The wind is so COLD and bitter. I think since I use a humidified CPAP at night, my nasal membranes are still OK. And OH WOW. I've been feeling very sorry for myself w/ my issues w/ PETEY and the constant issues w/ the IRS (now they want new forms and the cost of each and every stock in the fund.) I've decided I need a CPA. I have one who does my taxes and this entire issue is NOT his fault. But he's a 1 hour (more) round trip as he's in N. Dallas. And since I started w/ him 12 years ago, he now mostly does business taxes and leaves us little guys to one of the CPA's who now work for him. So I need someone local. I THINK I can fill out these forms, but I want this to be OVER and so paying a CPA a few hundred dollars to get over this is well worth it. I feel like I wake up in a cloud. But CONNIE if I were your friend I'd be in tears. Though there's NO WAY I'd let my DD, DSIL and DGK's stay in my house w/o THEM being responsible for total clean up. She babysits, I bet she cooks. AND She's supposed to clean up after them. OH NOOOOO that woman needs to put her foot down. So unfair to her.
LOUISE is DD home or still in the hospital? And I agree. I can't believe it's almost Christmas. IN ONE WEEK FROM TODAY? How did that happen?
SUZE that's what Petey is doing. Our walks consist of walking 1 or 2 houses up and coming back. Then at about 12 he had to go out to pee and when he came in he was so restless, pacing around ON my bed. (try to sleep thru that). After an hour he finally got off the bed, I took him out back and he did his other business. usually this happens together on our bedtime walk.
STEPH maybe an advent service would help get into the Christmas spirit for those of us who are feeling stretched kind of thin.
BECKY, I love it cold in the house when I sleep, but 62 or 64 is a bit "BRISK" for during the day when i'm not under blankets. And yeah Petey doesn't like green beans much. Maybe instead I'll get canned carrots chopped up. They're soft and a bit sweet. But basically he doesn't like veggies. I should call him "THE OLD BECKY!" LOL
Very pretty out there but very cold. However w/ the sun shining, it doesn't feel nearly as bitter as yesterday, plus the wind is now a breeze. Kind of a nice, cold winter day. I need to make a grocery store run b/c after Petey's surgery, i don't see myself leaving the house much for a few days since I'm thinking his mobility will be messed up due to having to cut thru his shoulder muscle. I should have been pumping iron in an attempt to get used to carrying a 40 pound dog everywhere until he's ambulatory on his own. Gonna be a long few days but we will soldier through.

I went to mass at the cathedral this morning. The manger scene is on display and it is absolutely amazing. There at least 1000 pieces in it.

Becky....BP cuffs aren't terribly expensive. I wonder if your NP could write a RX for it & have insurance cover it... Might be worth s phone call. Louise....that sounds like an awesome Nativity set! I didn't get mine out this yr & miss it. Not decorating has kind of lulled me into thinking the big day is a long ways off I think. This weekend has helped get it together a little more. Suze....lol on the straitjacket sweatshirt for Lu Celeste...hope Petey enjoys his gourmet meals today. Love the pic of him on the sofa. Steph....you only have 2 days to go?? Lucky girl! I have 3. Shouldn't complain..my DD's district goes right up thru Friday! Obviously a calendar made out by guys who aren't trying to get everything done for Christmas ... or travel outside of their little burg. Mary ....I would like that recipe when you have time. Party last night was fun....we were among the last to leave. Sat by the fire visiting, laughing & sipping wine.... very relaxing. A bit chilly this morning -18...but it wasn't windy so that helped. Went to church...not much traffic. Back to hibernation mode. Baker elf has almond butter cookies baking & will be dipping pretzels & peanut butter ritz. All of it goes directly to the freezer! I'm wrapping & figuring out the last few things I need to pick up this week....shouldn't be too much I hope. I'm about out of time and &$$...lol

Celeste,LOL on the old Becky.I still haven't tried many cooked veggies but now I have 4 different veggies in my salad and I looked forward to it today after that lousy lunch yesterday.I still don't like a salad w/o protein though.I take a Foreman grilled chicken breast tenderloin and put 1/2 on a HEB carb sense tortilla and the other 1/2 cut up in my salad with 2 tbsp walnuts(which btw is not very many walnuts)and add lite Italian dressing to it and it tastes great.Scooter will eat baby cukes and baby carrots and every once in awhile if I drop a leaf of baby spinach on the floor she will eat that.As far as the cold in the house I have been under a comforter most of the day.Scooter is being so good sleeping right now I hate to bother her to even go outside. She got up on me before lunch and I know she went to sleep and I think I did too.Her on top of my comforter makes it warm.I wish I could put my right hand under her right now b/c it feels like ice.My left one is warm but my right one feels like ice under a fingerless glove for typing even.Maybe I ought to get on the exercise bike or do a DVD.That would warm me up.Good luck with Petey tomorrow and the next few days.I hope he does better than expected.
Angie,When I asked the NP if I needed to get a cuff BP monitor she said no.Just take it at HEB.I'm not satisfied with that.I did save my RX in case I need to start taking them again.I'm also changing ins plans 1/1 so I don't know what they will cover yet.It sounds like you had fun after all last night. That is way too cooold for me.Kenneth called a friend in Iowa last night and it was -12 with 2 feet of snow built up but he likes it cold which is why he moved there from TX.
Sandy,It sounds like fun at church with the chili. Our church is having a Christmas cantata tonight followed by finger foods but we can't go b/c we need to leave Scooter in the house while it's this cold and we don't trust her alone with the cat.
Celeste,The sun has come out here but the wind has picked back up b/c I hear the screen door banging every time a wind gust comes up.One reason it's so cold is b/c we need weather stripping for the front door. You can see sunshine through the door.Kenneth is getting some tomorrow but we really need something for tonight and I believe he will be looking for something outside before then.I haven't even gone outside.

Am so thankful that tonight is my last night at work. It's been a long week!
DH told me when I woke up that the father of another of our friends passed away this morning. These friends were here a couple of weeks ago from Florida because he was in the hospital. It sounds bad to say, but it's really a blessing he passed because he was not in his right mind due to a stroke and could not be cared for at home.
Had a grilled chicken salad for supper just now. (Or breakfast, technically). Will take the other half of the Calzone from yesterday for lunch.
Had a gal at work call off today because her husband got drunk at his company Christmas party last night and he kept her up all night being sick. Come on.....I was throwing up sick myself last Tuesday and I worked an eleven hour shift! It wouldn't be so bad except we run a skeleton crew on weekends.

Sandy....good luck ! No shame in voting for your own & the $$$ is for a good cause ...probably deductible too.
Becky....Kenneth's friend must be on the other side if he state.....lots more snow there. The good news is we are headed back into the 30s for the rest of the week. Cold to y'all, but practically balmy to us after this arctic blast.
Productive day. 2 batches of caramel corn done...only a couple of more things to wrap. Then to make my to do lists for the week. I think I'll be ready .....we will head north on Friday afternoon.

LOUISE cool on the manger scene. Honestly I haven't really come across a decent manger scene this year. One neighbor has a manger and in it there's a wrapped gift w/ a spotlight on it. Then when Christmas is here she puts in a doll baby in swaddling clothes. Glad your DD is home and I hope resting comfortably.
ANGELA great idea about seeing about an RX for the BP cuff.
SANDY the chili cookoff sounds fun and delish. I was going to make chili tonight since it's so cold but decided to go out for Chinese as I doubt I'll be going anywhere for several days until Petey is mobile. Tomorrow I'll cook the chili.
BECKY I think your NP is way off base having you depend on an HEB trip to check your BP. What if you start feeling bad headaches, or dizzy again where you pass out? Getting to HEB is NOT an option and she sounds like a DOOZY. And you guys should get one of those draft stoppers for your front door. The ones that look like a dog, or just a fabric tube stuffed w/ beans or rice. At the very least, roll up a towel.
CONNIE I don't think it sounds bad. I think it sounds compassionate to be relieved for HIM that he's passed. How awful to be trapped in your mind or body and just EXISTING. That's not living. And OH....MY..... GOD on that pathetic excuse for calling in sick. If the DH was old enough to get stinkin drunk,, he was old enough to see to himself and SHE was old enough to go sleep on the sofa! Stupid.
STEPH it seems as if there are some decent movies out now. I want to see Lala Land, Collateral Beauty, Passengers, Arrival, Manchester by the Sea, Hidden Figures and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I probably won't see any of them until they get on Netflix or something.
It's currently 24, feels like 14 and we have a hard freeze warning. Our faucets are covered and they told me to open up the cabinets where the plumbing is for the sinks. Ok whatever. Oh and I went to see how my new house was coming. Unfortunately they have temporary door knobs on the doors and they're locked. And now the garage door is done too. But by peeking in the windows, I could see they've painted, my Tray ceilings are up and painted, my cabinets and can lights are all in. No tile, quartz, carpet, pendant lights or fixtures but it's moving along really well. it's just a cute little place I swear. AND I went to see it at the WARMEST time of day and there were frozen puddles all over the place. I didn't realize it was ice until I was almost on top of them. That could have been a mini-disaster!

Louise,I'm glad your DD is home.
Steph,Thanks for the link.I may end up getting it but I think the regular cuff kind would be more accurate.I have had 2 wrist ones in the past and they weren't very reliable.
Celeste,Actually my NP was talking about when we were in HEB to check it from time to time not make a special trip to go there but yeah she was off on this one I think and I'm really disappointed in her this last time which is a shame b/c I really like her.I plan on investing in the regular kind after we get our disability checks next Tuesday.Or I may order the one in the link Steph provided. As far as the front door the draft is at the top of the door.Kenneth put one sheet under the doors of 2 different rooms he felt a draft coming thru and it raised the temp to 66 in the LR.That is bearable. He is buying weather stripping for the front door tomorrow.
It sounds like a good idea with that hard of a freeze.Austin is expecting 24 in the morning and they said maybe a little lower. My weather app for Elgin shows 22 for us in the morning. We are expecting a high of 40 in the afternoon. That will prob feel warm compared to this.I'm glad your house is coming along.Kenneth didn't notice it at first but Scooter's water outside had ice in it today.Just before dinner he let her out to do her business then she didn't want to come back in.He said she was running all over the yard. Now she needs to wind down. She's not used to being in the house all day.
