Hello Crafters Ginny - I did have some leftover BBQ that I froze. I always forget that pork doesn't always get that tender maybe I'll remember the next time before I decide to make this. Glad you are having a day off today. The BOM sounds like fun, I'll be interested to hear what the theme is. Ruth - Your list of projects keeps growing! Sounds like you are making progress though. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting. The weather here is warm again, but with lower humidity. I was able to open the windows for a bit. There was a nice south-easterly breeze but unfortunately most of my windows face west. I haven't been doing any crafting, just some reading but I enjoy that too. Take care everyone!

Hi CJ, it's great to see you. Sorry your pork didn't get as tender as you would like. I usually simmer mine on the stove top on low heat so that it gets tender then put the ribs under the broiler to top with bbq sauce. Crock pot sounded like a great idea.
I thought it was a warm day until I noticed on my laptop that the temp was only 54 earlier this afternoon so I looked up the weather forecast and I see that all next week is pretty much going to be high in the 40's and low in 20's with snow. There is supposed to be snow accumulation of 2-3 inches next Thursday.

Ruth, hope that Dh is ok and that he just needed a little bit more sleep today. Well that is awesome that you had the perfect button for the purse!!! And yes,I agree that finding the perfect thing in your stash is so inspiring- hope you can jump into your next project and finish it quickly. Its incredible the different projects you take on....is that adorable giraffe still keeping you company? Thanks for the reminder for the tooth fairy pillow!!
Yes, I get great bubble wrap mailers for a dollar at dollar tree, I think the large one will be perfect for the baby afghan....Walmart had them for $2.24. Dollar tree also now sells Hallmark cards... a week ago I spent $4.50 and got 5 cards! (They were pretty nice Hallmark cards too). I am old school and when possible like to send real cards in the mail. I have plenty of time to get the bubble envelope....will be sure to stop there when I pass the store.
Gotta go re read the directions on the Christmas ornaments. And also while cleaning up some of my crafting stuff found the fabric I bought for the falling charms bed spread I want to make (I have most of the fabric). Perhaps that is in my future soon...
Today was nice not working. Got a real outside walk in this am, then Dh and I went to do some errands. When we got home I actually got some more stuff back in the attic, so its starting to look normal in the spare bedroom. Much still has to be put away however....
Hope that everyone has a great night Ginny

Hello everyone, Well it finally happened today. I went to the store and it got really windy as I got out of the car. Then as I was putting my shopping in the car it started to rain. It just poured for about 1/2 hour. We really needed the rain to clear the air. I have not had time to do any crafting today and I am going to bed soon with my nook and I will read myself to sleep.
cj, I think that Ruth is right about the pork and it is better to let it simmer first and then broil it with some BBQ sauce. I don't often cook ribs. But they are usually very good.
Ruth, Are you really expecting snow ? makes for a long winter.
Ginny There are a lot of b/days coming up this month so thanks for reminding me to go to the Dollar store for cards. This the beginning of my bad time of year too many b/days and Halloween too much temptation.
Phyl, sorry you are having sleepless nights. I have that problem and I often stay awake all night and then I am ready to go yo sleep about 6 a.m. It's not much fun. I hope you get a good sleep tonight.
Now I am off to bed.

Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that you cut too many of one piece and not enough of another so now have to find fabric to make those missing pieces from friends I'm also sorry to hear that you still haven't been able to sleep well. I don't have the problem of waking too early and not being able to go back to sleep, instead I have trouble getting to sleep in the first place. And I'm not sure the fleece blanket has a name but I could post the link to it if you want.
Yes Ginny, I bet it felt good to have a day off. Our dollar tree has had the cheapie cards for years but just a couple years ago they started selling the good ones and I do the same. I believe in sending real cards through the real mail system. Oh and I'm glad to hear you found the fabric for the quilt you're going to make.
Meg, I'm sure it was great to get rain but maybe would have been better if you were at home while it rained. I guess in a drought area like that you're glad to get rain anytime.Luckily all the birthdays coming up in my family are all people that live somewhere else so I don't have to be tempted with cake and for Halloween we never get kids coming here..houses are too far apart so no candy there either.Besides all the birthdays of my ds and 4 of his children ..actually five counting the one last of September, My dd's oldest has a bday in Nov also but he, too, lives out of state.Oh and I have to remember to tell my dgd happy birthday to her little one on the 6th of Oct.And then there's my sister's bday and also a dear friend of mine that lives in Arkansas...yes more birthdays in this part of the year than I thought so I need to make a trip to Dollar Tree. Anyway I guess I got sidetracked...how is Devin liking school this year?
I did finish putting the bows on the two pairs of fingerless gloves then I quit for the day. Tomorrow it will be dgs' sea creatures that will get finish then just a button on the Christmas tree skirt. Of course I have a lot of other unfinished things but at least the ones I need to have done soon will be done.
Meg and CJ, sometimes we have to take a break from crafting and just read or watch tv as you two are doing.

Happy Thursday!!
Phyl- so sorry you were not able to sleep well last night...think we all have those nights! It was so nice when we were kids and sleeping was something that happened naturally and easily. Hope you can figure out someway to work around the extra pieces/not enough of others that you have for the fall wall hanging. Sometimes mistakes are not noticeable- hope you can figure a way to make it ok.
Meg- you needed the rain so badly but not that badly!! I have to go back to Dollar tree for some December birthdays....now I plan on doing all the card buying in advance so I can take advantage of Dollar trees good prices. Hope you are enjoying your book....
Ruth- nice work getting all those unfinished projects done!!
Got DGD here, I am a bit tired as Ds was up early and woke me up. BBL Ginny

Good morning all. It's really cold here..only 39 degrees at 10:40am. It didn't get all that cold during the night. My thermometer says the lowest was37. Phyl, you asked if it was really going to snow and yes the weather forecast says a little for Monday and 1-3 inches on Thursday. I need to clear our a space for the air conditoner so that dh can take it out of the window. I don't think he's going to put the window sealer on yet though. He might just to get it done in which case I'll be helping him so that will take up my crocheting time... . Gotta get prepared for winter though Ginny, I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep last night. Good thing the little one is a good baby. I hope you can get in a little nap later. Yes getting those cards now is a great idea. I've had friends that, at the beginning of the year would buy all the cards for that entire year and put them in pocket in a calendar. I'm not that organized but I do have a collection of cards. Usually though I don't have one that's (just like yarn) exactly what I want to send so end up buying new. When my friend (the one who's dd now has ovarian cancer) was alive and in the nursing home I used to try to send a card every week so my collection came in handy as did Dollar Tree.

HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!,PRAISE THE LORD I HAVE BACK GROUND FABRIC!
GOOD AFTERNOON, I was looking for my fabric and lo and behold on the back of a apple table runner there was the background fabric. guess what?? yep I started cutting off the background.so now I have enough half square triangles.to make the leaves I needed.yippee!
good thing I did not need it for flying geese.
mary jo stopped by.think she thought I was nuts cutting up the table runner.never used it maybe only twice in the years I made it.I can always make another one.
oh yeah if there is a will and away us crafters will find it no matter what craft we do.
ruth which fleece blanket are you using off of you tube? I never knew there were so many ways to do a fleece blankie.phyl

PHyl, I was wondering about cutting up the table runner too but if it's something you don't use and you can use the fabric for something else it sounds like a great plan to me! Congratulations to you on being so creative. Yes there seem to be a lot of ways to make the fleece blankets. One has a braided edge which looks pretty bulky and like it causes the blanket to pucker. Here's theI'm going to use. I'm going to post this on the thread Marlene posts on and ask if it's the one she made but I do think it is from what she's said. snapguide.com/guides/make-a-no-sew-fleece-blanket-wout-bulky-knots/I have one thing I'm going to make for ds then I'll be done with all their things for now and can start on the prayer shawl and the fleece blankets. I finished the faces on the sea creatures.they're not perfect by any means as I'm not good at embroidery esp on a crocheted item but they are toys and dgs will like them I'm sure.Oh I just remembered I still have to sew that button on the tree skirt. I'll do that next and all will really be done. See you all later

Phyl- you are a perfect example of if there is a will there is a way! Glad that worked out for you and aw, shucks....now you have to make another table runner ! Ruth, love the new sew fleece blanket...will have to check out those directions later to see how its done with out the bulky knots. Super simple project though. No nap for me today.....busy day. Did get to work a few minutes on the Christmas ornaments, which at the start might not be so bad. Hope not! Have a good night all G

It's snowing here but it's too warm for it to stick to the ground. And actually it's coming down thicker now so maybe. It's supposed to snow on several days during the upcoming week and is supposed to accumulate on the ground then. I always love seeing the first snowfall of the year. I don't know how people can live somewhere where they never see snow. So even though it won't be deep or anything, I'm sure we'll stay home since people here, although we have snow every single year and most have lived here all their lives or for years and years, don't seem to remember from year to year how to drive in snow. I bet that happens everywhere. Perfect time for me to get all my projects completed to mail and then work on the next ones including those blankets which will come in handy for whoever receives them.
As far as the blankets go, I was thinking this morning that I should set aside one day a week to work on those. I could leave them out and on other days if I need a break from crocheting I could go and work on them for a few minutes. Since we never use our dining room table I'm going to set that up as the "blanket making center"
So what is everyone else doing today?

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and ready for the weekend. Hope you all get to do some crafting. We have a holiday on Monday but now that I don't work anymore, most of the holidays just seem like another day The weather here today and tomorrow is finally cooler - in the 70s and cloudy (and a bit damp). I'm happy because my house was so hot inside yesterday - outside temperature was around 90. Next week we're supposed to have 80s again, but low 80s so hopefully it won't get too bad. Come on Fall weather Ruth - that type of snow is my favorite kind, pretty to watch but melts quickly. Hope you are enjoying watching it. I went out and did a bit of shopping today. I'll have to go out next week and I'm hoping I can find some of the yogurt I like. All the stores around where I live (and within 15 miles) have stopped selling it, so I guess we're going through another yogurt transition. I used to love the yogurt from the 1990s, then everything went to the greek yogurt several years ago. I finally adjusted to that and like some of it, and now it's going to full fat yogurt and I'm not "spending" the calories for that. It's just frustrating. I have been trying different types from different stores and found some that wasn't too bad at Aldi. I guess I have to find the humor in the fact that I'm just not a "mainstream" kind of person. Most of the things I like are not popular with others. Take care everyone!
