CJ, I sure remember the Whitney's yogurt they used to sell years ago. It was the best yogurt ever. Of course they stopped making it. I can't remember what yogurt you said was your favorite. Yes the snnow is pretty coming down and now that it's coming down so lightly and the cloud have cleared away I can see the mountain and it's covered. Down here there's nothing on the ground but moisture.
The yarn I'm making this mitt with is Peaches and Cream. I've used many of the cones of it in the color they call milk chocolate and never found a knot where they spliced yarn together. So far in this new cone I've already found five knots and I've barely used any of it so far. So I decided to let the company know. Well even though it's still sold in Walmart and several other places I found that it's now made by a different company but the labels still list the website as peachesandcreme.com which is no longer in existence. Well like many products, this new company seems to be making an inferior product.
Another problem I had with yarn is with Lion's Mandala. I ordered two of the cakes in the color called serpent which are supposed to contain these colors Charcoal, espresso, tan, taupe, cream, lemon yellow. Well one of the cakes has all those colors and the other has only yellow, taupe and cream. I sent them an email but haven't heard back yet. I know the cakes are supposed to be random colors but to have several missing completly is not something that is supposed to happen.

Good evening!
CJ- I hear you on the yogurt! Do you remember WW yogurt? It was really really good, and NOT greek yogurt. I cannot stand greek yogurt, and like you, will not spend the calories on full fat yogurt either. I get the limited flavors of Yoplait light that I like (and they have reduced those down to very few flavors) or if desparate, the light and fit by Dannon. But its frustrating, seeing container after container of greek yogurt- which I do not enjoy. SO glad you are finally able to enjoy cooler temps. Hope that next week is also cool for you- its just much more pleasant doing errands out in cooler weather.
Ruth, snow already??? Nothing better than a nice snow storm- its such a joy to see everything shut down and quiet.....a special time to enjoy the majesty of the beautiful planet we live on. I think the idea of a blanket day is nice....and a way to help you get some of the fleece out and put to good use.
Worked both am and pm today....I forgot how much I dislike driving in the afternoon. But its over with...and we have a 3 day weekend. Even if I were completely out of the work force the holiday is great- we do not have to babysit on Monday as school is closed. DH and i went to Lowes, I finally got the mulch I need to finish the front. I am super tired, so will say good night and see everyone tomorrow Ginny

Gee, I think that the scarf I am supposed to make for myself- you know Ruth, the one you made and I did not, is made from Mandala? I have not gotten far with the scarf at all, so have not encountered any difficulty with the yarn itself, yet. Just to keep everyone up to speed with my convoluted thinking, last year I found a really pretty scarf on all free crochet, and mentioned it here....I did buy the yarn- think it was Mandala- Ruth actually made the scarf and it turned out very nice.
Gotta be frustrating when a yarn manufacturer changes and they “call it” the same yarn when indeed it is not. My Dad used to work for Wonder Bread/ Hostess Cake back in the old days when it was International Baking Company. As he assisted starting up MANY bakeries, he brought home samples of what first came out of the ovens of all the breads and goodies (hostess cup cakes, Suzi Q’s, twinkies etc.....) Well over the years the corporate ownership has changed several times, and is now owned by a company called Bimbo. They make those same goodies, which no longer taste or even totally look the same. What a pity.
Hope everyone has a great day. BBL Ginny

Good morning everyone.
No the yarn for that Mountain Land Scarf was a yarn from Micheal's and was a really nice yarn. The yarn was Barcelona. I had no problem with that yarn at all, just the beginning of the pattern.I really need to get more of that because it also had beautiful colors. I do have some left so I need to either make another scarf or something else.
Yesterday not sure if I mentioned it but after dh got up we went out. I never did get back to crocheting after we got home so today is catch up day.
It's cold today and the house is cold so I might make a fire in the wood stove or I might just be lazy and spend the day in the "winter quarters"
I hope you all have a great weekend

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I loved all the Hostess products and we used to eat their bread a lot. I have tried a few of the new things since they came back a few years ago and you're right, they aren't the same. How interesting that your father worked for them. Hope you are getting to rest today. I hear you on the yogurt - the shelves are just full of Chobani and Oikos and I've tried both of them and hate them! The yogurts that I liked were the Yoplait Greek 100 Whips and the Yoplait Greek 100. I would mix in frozen fruit with these and it was a nice treat. I like a few of the Dannon Light and Fit - Boston Cream Pie and Tiramisu, but some of them aren't that great. I also get the regular Dannon sometimes too. I remember the WW yogurts and they were good. Ruth - Those yarns sound frustrating, I guess when you get a really nice yarn it's a pleasure to work with it. Hope your wood stove heats the house up for you. It's in the 70s here again today and cloudy, and a bit damp. They say it might clear up later and then back in the 80s tomorrow. I'm enjoying having the windows open and not feeling so hot. I'm eating some of the Cotton Candy grapes I found in the store last week. They have a really short season (mid-Aug to September), and this was only the second time I found them, so I was glad to get them again this year. The first one you eat really does taste like cotton candy, but after that they just taste like grapes Here's a link to the latest Pat Sloan Merry and Bright Block (#9). There are only a few pictures posted so far, but I like the ones where the diamond stands out: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2018/10/merry-bright-sew-along-block-free-9.htmlTake care everyone!

Ginny, that has to be every child's dream to have a parent that works at a place or owns a place where snack cakes are made. I love the Snowballs and used to love Twinkies and wondered why they don't taste the same anymore. I should have known it was because the company was sold to someone else.
CJ, I've never heard of cotton candy grapes but they sound delicious. I'd be going back for more also if we had them here. I love Concord grapes but they aren't sold here either. They used to have them here rarely in the fall but they don't now and haven't for a few years.I'm glad you've been able to open the windows some and let in fresh air. I hope the weather stays nicer for you.
Well I have ds' grilling mitt and key fob all made so I think I'm done with everything that needs to be done for all of them for now.I do still have to sew that button on the tree skirt which I keep forgetting so I'll do it as soon as I get done here. The key fob is really nice and takes about 15 minutes to make.A young woman named Bethany has a blog called Whistle and Ivy and the pattern is there in case anyone has an urge to make key fobs. They would be a good thing to make if your church had a craft sale. They're easy and fas t and don't take much time or yarn. If you have the key ring and/or lobster clasp you'd be all set and could undoubtedly sell them for $5 at least.
Now I'm going to go check on those blocks and see if I can find last week's because I went right when you posted the site link so I didn't see very many as it was the first day.

CJ, I like quite a few of those...as you said, the ones in which the diamond really stands out are the best.

Good evening!
My favorite blocks are #13 and #17- yes the diamond seems to stand out better in those. Thanks for posting the link CJ. Gee, I never heard of cotton candy grapes, but they sound good!! Where do you find such cool foods?? I know of a WW “recipe” in which you roll grapes in sugar free dry jello powder and freeze them, that makes them taste more like a dessert than anything else. Yes, the humidity is back here too, and although its not too hot its muggy. And I agree on Oikos and Chobani yogurts- do not like them one bit!!! I like that fage greek yogurt, only to cook with. I like what WW calls “desert” yogurts, but they are only 3 points a serving, and well a decent source of calcium. Anyway, CJ, I hope you were able to find the yogurt you like. It freezes well.....perhaps you can do that with it if you need to store a large quantity of it.
Ruth, gee that Key fob sounds like a quick and easy project! You do find the most adorable ideas of gifts to crochet....will have to check out some patterns for key fobs. Did you get the button on the tree skirt yet?
Well I grew up in north NJ- and Continental Baking Company (ssorry I messed up their name earlier) had bakeries in the city (NYC) and also central jersey. The central jersey bakery was an hour flat drive to my parents home, the city bakery about the same drive also. Dad used to bring home Suzi Q’s and Snowballs straight off the line, and we got them at home while they were still warm.....needless to say they were so very very good!!! Now its disappointing to see what Bimbo markets as the same product. I see the biggest deviation from the original in the Suzi Q’s. At this point, if I get a hankering for them I make them myself and they come out closer to the original than what is made now. But I do not make them myself often.
We went out with friends today for a train ride to see the fall foliage. The leaves were just barely turning and it was foggy. Still it was nice to be out with our friends and go for a ride on the antique train.
Enjoying a fire now under the gazebo.
Have a good night all Ginny

Good morning all. I hope you all will have a good and blessed Sunday
Yes it's probably a little early for the leaf turning in your part of the country. Here the leaves pretty much all turn the same color...all yellows and golds, no nice reds. I bet it was fun though just being with friends. I remember the days back there of walking in the big parks through dried and rustling leaves.
It apparently snowed all during the night and is still snowing and this time it's sticking. I don't know for how long it will stick but right now the ground and trees are all covered and it's cold. It will be a great day for crocheting. Last evening I was feeling a little lost since all my projects for my away family were done but there sure were plenty of things I could have worked on including getting everything wrapped but instead I just sat and read. I had started a book awhile ago but didn't finish and the time ran out so had to borrow again and I thought I'd finish it before that happened again. It's a pleasant story. Kind of a cozy mystery and has no violent or obscene parts.

Good afternoon, or actually evening!
Yikes, Ruth you have real snow??? As in sticking snow? It seems so early to me, we usually do not get snow like that until mid December, and that is an occasional snow. What does the Farmers Almanac say about your winter? Is this early for you to have snow? Not meaning to ask too many questions......but forgive me for asking one more. I would love the name of the mystery you are reading. Right now I am reading an Agatha CHristie book- and I enjoy her for all the same reasons you like the book you are reading. No curse words, no obscene parts and just a good story.
Snuck a walk in this am, then went to church. I worked a bit on the shed, we are trying to make room for the lawn mower and chipper. Think I succeeded at that- although Dh has to organize HIS tools. The shed is pretty much his area, but I thought I would help. Later on we tried to run a few errands and got dinner out at Wendy’s. I love their salads which are program friendly. I have some emails to send, and a bill or two to pay. Hope to read or work on Christmas ornaments later. Ginny

I'm not sure what the Farmer's Almanac says. I haven't looked it up yet but snow comes here at all different times. I think it was 4 years ago, maybe only 3 that we had at least 10 inches of snow on Sept 11th. And snow happens here in Sept fairly often and definitely in Oct and Nov.
The book I'm reading is by Donna Andrews and this one is called Toucan Keep a Secret. This is a series with the main character Meg Lanslow and her extended family. Her grandfather is a zoologist who has a zoo for endangered and abused animals now but used to bring animals home hence the various titles that include animal names such as Puffins, etc. I've read them in order from the beginning. I don't know that it's necessary in order to enjoy the book but it would definitely explain some of the family members and other characters that she mentions.
It's great that you got your walk in before church and also great that you had dinner out instead of having to cook it. I do love Wendy's but I'd be more tempted by the non program friendly foods such as the chicken sandwiches.
I made one of the headbands that dgd pointed out to me. It's really nice. It was so easy and only took maybe 15 minutes to make. Then I decided that since I have to order some of the super bulky yarn that the other one she likes is made with I'd email her the link so that she can pick out the colors she likes best. She did email back and let me know so I sent an order and got 20% off and free shipping so I was happy because I needed the super bulky anyway. It seems to be the trendy thing now to have crocheted (and I'm sure knitted) items made with super bulky yarn. I also started the prayer shawl but I had to start it over about 4 times at least and I think I finally have it right. I hope so anyway. It starts with only 3 stitches and you keep increasing so since I'm now on row 3 you can tell that I haven't made a lot of progress but if I do have it right it should go ok from now on...I hope. Oh and I have the button on the tree skirt and the skirt packed into a plastic zipper bag ready to be packed and sent. The zipper bag is one that Herrschner's send their kits in and are nice for protecting things you mail or just to use and yarn bags. I've never used the little labels they put in them that you're supposed to sew onto your finished project.
Well back to working on this shawl.Have a good evening and good night
