Just a quick post. I have been very lazy today. No crafting so far, perhaps this evening. I have been paying attention to the storm in Florida. It doesn't appear that DGD is in the direct path but I am sure they will get a lot of rain. Her DH is supposed to go on a 2 week business trip tomorrow if he can get out of the air port.
Ginny, they were talking about Columbus, Churchill and George Washington yesterday. As you say there are no perfect people but these men were leaders of their time and are part of our history and they should remain in our history books. It must be nice to be able to decide what days you want to work.
Ruth, it is not fun when your project does not go as it should and you have to ripit. You have a lot of patience. I do have a cell phone but like you I only take it with me in case of an emergency. My DGD put a message on it telling callers not to leave messages on it an put my land line no. for people to call.
phyl & cj, hope all is well with you.

EVENING LADIES, yesterday's sit and sew was not as much fun.there were to many quilters.
why do they bring everything they have with? as if that is not enough they bring big containers.there is not room to sit them beside you so they sit them at the end of the table in the aisle makes it hard for other people to walk around.
the big problem is the quilt shop has to much s--- in the room. bolts and bolts of fabric , machine after machine.
now some bolts are on the wall.others are on the floor leaning up against the wall and cabinets etc. so there is no room to slide the tables down.
I was sitting at the end of a table where everybody had to get through to go here and there.nuff said.
today was our bumin day. the y,lunch, kohl's, target and hobby lobby.
we were big spenders at target. I bought 2 shower gels and delona bought bread and something else.
I was bornin 42 so don't remember much about the war if anything.I do remember winston churchill.phyl

Ruth, this sounds like a challenging pattern which is made even more challenging because the pattern has mistakes. How frustrating!! I am very glad you have the wherewithall to figure out the issues and keep going with this thoughtful gift. What will you do with the “premier” cotton?? Again, that is frustrating, that its not all cotton. I use sugar and cream for dishcloths, pretty sure that is all cotton. And it comes in such pretty colors.
Speaking of giving up, I spent some time on WW site. Tried that stupid “connect” that they have, which seems to be a public crying towel for every walk of life. Yes, that sounds harsh, but I just did not see how I could or would want to try to fit in.....
No crafting today, hope to get some time in tomorrow.....still busy with this darned internet thing, which will take up a lot of my time in the am before DGD gets here.
Have a good night all Ginny

Meg, so glad to hear that DGD is safe, and hope that her Dh is also!!! Completely agree with you about Columbus, Churchill and Washington. Leave our history alone, please!!! Phyl- so frustrating that you had so little room to work on your project. I wonder if it will be more crowded now with cooler weather and the Holidays approaching. Oh my!!! Don’t spend so much at target! You might wreck your credit score! Ginny

Phyl, it does sound rather claustrophobic in that quilt shop now. I wouldn't be going back if I were the one going because I don't deal well with being too crowded.
Ginny, I went to connect once and all it was then was a bunch of nearly naked young women boasting about their weight loss. I'm sure they are very happy to be at a weight and body size theey want but most other people really aren't interested in seeing them...well not women anyway.
Meg, I'm glad to hear that your dgd is ok and in a safer part of Florida. I know there's a woman on over 60's that lives in or near Panama city. The young woman that I'm making the prayer shawl for used to live in Panama City Beach. I'm glad she moved.
Speaking of the prayer shawl, well I HATE to give up on anything. I'm a very stubborn person and like to conquer things but this pattern is just too much for me to deal with right now so after 4 days of trying I had to just rip it all out. I have another pattern that is really nice too and is the one I shold have gone with to begin with. I haven't started it yet so hopefully it will be much easier than the other. I thought about just doing a rectangular one which would be much easier butthe one I really liked was by the same woman that designed the pattern I just gave up on so I really don't trust it plus I want something that's a little different.
And I agree about what all of you are saying about the history issue.
I hope all of you get a good rest tonight and have a great day tomorrow.

Well ladies, we have another day in which to craft....or whatever we need or want to do
I don'tknow what the temp is here but it's still cold. One thing i forgot about was the aching of fingers and toes. Even though I had thick socks on my feet and a blanket over them yesterday they still ached.Cant complain though. Others have things much worse.
I think you asked, Ginny, what I planned to do with this Premier yarn that isnt all cotton. Well I wasn't sure and was thinking dishcloths but I really don't like to use crocheted disclothes because they get so nasty looking so while sitting here today I thought of bath poufs. This yarn would be perfect for those and if you made a really fluffly bath pouf you could probably use up a whole ball of the yarn. So I'm planning on adding these into my "pick up and crochet" things for those spare moments when you don't want to have to concentrate but want to get something created and hopefully will get enough done that I can use them for Christmas gifts
I also think I have the perfect pattern to use for the prayer shawl although it's between two. I think the easier one, then when it's done I might do the other and whichever I like best is the one I'll send. then I'll save the other in case I hear of someone else that needs a prayer shawl to remind them that someone cares and most important..that God cares.
So now I have a longer list of the pick up and crochet things and also found a really nice new pattern for mittens. My pile of them is growing but much slower than I had planned. And I'll put some ear warmers in there too. there are a lot of people that make and donate hats but the earwarmers might be preferred by some people and could actually be worn under or on top of a hat to provide extra warmth for the ears. I need to call the church to see when I can take these things to them
Meg, no onereally has my cell phone number so anyone that calls it has the wrong number. I should put a message like that on mine too telling people not to leave messages. I never listen to the messages that are left since I know they aren't for me and it uses up minutes to listen to them.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here is still warm and humid, with possible thunderstorms later. Then starting tomorrow it gets cooler, I'm so excited and can't wait I went to a quilt store yesterday and found some fabric to use for the inner border on the Solstice quilt, so I hope I can get that put on soon. I'd like to get that quilt top finished since it's been working for so long. Tomorrow is the wedding for Princess Eugenie (Prince Andrew's daughter), so I'm looking forward to watching that. I love to see all the royal "stuff" and also what the women are wearing. The TV channel TLC is showing the wedding, so I'll probably get up early to watch it live. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone.
It is a very mild day here and so far I have been lazy though I am doing a load of laundry. I really should get outdoors. I did some knitting last evening and will probably do some more this evening. Sorry I don't have a very exciting life.
cj, I am not sure whether I will watch the wedding or not. The Royals have been outdoing themselves with weddings and new babies this year.
Ruth, I don't like to receive calls on my cell phone so I just take it with me when I go somewhere. I really don't like talking on the phone anymore. I used to talk a lot to my friends but a most of have died. My DGD in Florida talks forever mostly about her work and I hear the same stuff over and over because she is really not happy there. But she has only been there a few months so I sit and listen.
Phyl, I do remember Winston Churchill, he was very popular in the UK. I was about 9 when the war ended. I hope they don't try to remove him from the history books. Sorry your quilting experience was not much fun. I suppose the quilt shop should limit the number of people they allow to attend. Better luck next time.
Hi Ginny, Devin just got home and I need to go and empty the dish washer.
Have a good evening everyone.

Hello CJ and Meg. Also to Ginny and Phyl who haven't yet been here today.
Meg, I think the wedding will be on very early in the morning in your's and my time zones. It would be interesting though. In the UK they seem to have a great love of hats. Some are really bizarre looking but interesting.
Meg, congratulations on getting the baby blanket done. You'll have a lot of them to donate when you're able to get there. I hope you can do some crafting this evening or just read if that's what you prefer for today. I'm like that too, I don't like talking on the phone anymore. I used to have friends, my sister, sister in law, and ddil that would talk for hours. I can't do that anymore because as I've mentioned I can't hear well and have to hold the phone against my ear in a way that makes my outer ear hurt after a short time. I also can't do anything else while on the phone because of the having to hold it a certain way.
I've done a few things today but none of it actual quilting. I made dh some good spaghetti sauce and the pasta to go with it. I harvested my kale crop. I planted a while pack of seeds indoors and only 3 plants grew but it made enough kale for a meal so I'll be having that this evening
I also accidentally found the shawl pattern I think I'll make. It's on a youtube and it's made so that it looks a lot like a log cabin design. I can't decide what colors to use though. The ones in the video are nice but I don't have those so it's a choice right now of oxfor gray, pastel green and white. or maybe oxford gray, hunter green and pale green or white. The pattern looks easy and fast so I can actually make a couple of those and see which ones I like best or even better just start both and do a little of each then decide which to finish first. Maybe even hunter green, pastel green and the oxford gray...decisions,decisions, decisions.
the I looked at youtubes for some quilting things. One was called Donna's prairie points table runner but she mention that you could just do a couple rows of border instead of all those prarie points. It was really great looking and it seemed pretty easy. The other one I watched was a quilted tote bag. I love tote bags so may have to try that. Donna's table runner was made from whaat I guess was a charm pack but the bag was made of scrap fabric so she said.It seemed a little more complicated that the table runner but I never use my table. Guess I could make some as gifts sometime.I'd probably just make my own squares instead of buying a pack of premade ones... maybe a Christmas theme because I have a lot of Christmas fabric. And for quilting she just stitched in the ditch which I could do
I never liked youtube but those videos that I watched today were so much fun and so interesting. My dh sometimes stays up all night just watching youtube video's. I think I'll have to look for more of the crafting ones. When I found the ones accidentally I was looking for one that would show a good way to join a long chain for crocheting in the round without twisting the chain. I never did get to that one.

good evening, well today I decided to quit ww. they are getting to techy for me.now they want you to track on your phone. you will get points for tracking activity, meetings and weighing in.
you can also win prizes. I looked at those prizes 3 times and there is not a thing on their list I would be interested in.
you can still track online. not sure if you can get prizes then.there are some minor things that won't work if you don't have the phone app.
what about people who the flip phones? not everyone wants a android or smart phone.
it is very cold and windy here . our high was 43.
think I will go to my playpen for awhile. phyl

Phyl, I actually know people that don't have any cell phone at all be it a flip or a smart phone. As I said to Meg, I have a flip phone and no apps.
I am a lifetime member of WW but haven't been to a meeting since about 2003. I think I'm smart enough to know what to eat and what not to eat and how much of everything to eat. Most people are. If you need to weigh in every week to get your motivation going just get some friends together and weigh in eacch week with them.

My internet might be shaky.....will go as far as I can without losing my sanity.
Phyl- I knew changes were coming to WW. Got into a discussion with their online chat person the other night about how much I dislike Connect. When they took away the boards they did a huge disservice to the membership. I made sure they understood that , again. I know from another friend who who attends meetings that they are getting rid of all the little free bees, like key chains. For some, myself including, that was a nice thing a tangible reminder of what I was doing and why. I sure think it stinks that its now going to be all smart phone based. Totally agree with you about quitting. I do online only- just do not have time for meetings at the present. Just remember to weigh yourself each week. WW revamps program every few years, and each one worked just fine! Think CJ is using program from several years ago, and she has done a great job. Ruth has (as just mentioned) gotten to lifetime and stayed there for a long time. You can do it too....we are here to help cheer you on.
Ruth, I took a prairie point table class a year ago- would be happy to send the directions to you. It uses a charm pack and is SUPER easy. I ended up making 2 - so my living room has a more coordinated look. The prariie points are easy to make, and there is no quilting required for the table runner.
CJ- thanks for the heads up on the wedding!!! I saw a few glimpses of it, but Dh was blocking my view. Hope that you enjoyed watching it and TLC reruns it later.(so I can see it!) If not you will have to fill me in- I did hear that Charlotte and George were part of the wedding....what did you think of Eugenies gown?
Meg, hope you got your laundry done and that Devin had a good day at school. Hope you got to Knit wits today!! And we all live boring lives....none of us are world travellers or celebrities. We are all just normal women, trying to share the ups and downs of life, crafting and weight loss. We love hearing from you!
Cable switchover is today....the tech has done his share of bellyaching about it. Hope it all goes well. Yesterday we had DGD all day, and then after she picked up DGD#1 and DGS they stayed for dinner. DD borrowed my machine while here, she made a really sweet baby shower gift while here.....but by the end of the day, I was super tired. They left to go home around 6:30.
Made plans with Pastors wife to go fabric shopping next wednesday for the table runner class.
Enough from me. Have a wonderful day Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here has changed drastically and now it actually feels like fall. We had a lot of rain and wind last night from the hurricane but it's sunny, windy and in the 60s today - just beautiful. I got up early this morning at 4:00 A.M. so I could watch the wedding live. I thought it was a beautiful service, with lovely music. I also though that her dress was beautiful and really suited her. You could tell that she and her new husband are very much in love, the way they were touching hands and looking at each other. I hope they will have a happy marriage. I figure that might be the last royal wedding for awhile, unless Princess Beatrice gets married sometime in the next few years. The other two unmarried grandchildren of the Queen are only 14 and 11 years old. I enjoy all the Pomp and Circumstance of these events, so it was a pleasure to watch it today. Take care everyone!

CJ- glad you got to enjoy the wedding!!! I saw some pictures of the wedding and Eugenie looked radiant. I was a bit shocked to see Prince Andrew, gosh I remember him as a young man and he sure looks older! Her dress was very unique, but pretty. Its always neat to see what everyone considers their dream dress.
Got cold here too and its now fall like weather. Gotta fess up here, I get tired of being outside all the time and the pressure to keep gardens weeded and everything looking nice. Mind you I like it when it looks nice, just hate all the work. Don’t I sound lazy? Just got too many other things I want to do.
So far the new services here are ok. Gonna take a long time to figure out all the stuff I need to. Take care Ginny
