Hmm. This is REALLY none of my beeswax . . . and I've waited several days to comment -- don't want to upset anyone . . . why aren't the owners clipping the sharp little claws on these kittens? So simple and a lot less painful! Just wondering.
Thanks for the comments on getting "affairs" in order. If DH had actually had the heart attack they were thinking he was having, I would have probably collapsed. My kids and I are so tied to him, I don't know if any one of us could have managed to do what needed to be done. I guess my DSIL would have held the reins. My blood pressure is skyrocketing just thinking about these possibilities.
My maternal grandfather passed at age 51, and none of the family was prepared. Who would have expected that from a strong farmer type? Now that I am seeing it from this side of the fence, I know it must have been devastating for Mom and Granny. Dad too, since he was the "man of the family." I was 12 and wallowed in my own grief. I remember Granny's sisters coming to stay with her on the farm for awhile, then hiring a woman to stay, then Granny moving to an apartment in town and getting a job. What courage that must have taken!
So sorry. I'm venting. Hope I haven't upset anyone. Just thinking about how one gets through something like that.

When DH passed it was a shocker. We had taken out a funeral policy and his was not even paid for yet! He did not want to be embalmed. Just wanted a simple get er done grave side. Course he always said, "Just bury me in my garden and watch them beans grow." Anyway he died at a campground in CO and so forget the no embalming. We did have a graveside funeral. I am choosing cremation and that is what I paid for. The kids can change it and unless I wind up using all my savings there should be money for them to do the regular funeral stuff. Kids are comfortable with cremation at this point in time. DD had her 2nd husband cremated and gave some ashes to his mom and has hers on a shelf. I specified a box as opposed to the urn for them to bury beside DH. There is a visitation time before the cremation so my body can be viewed. So see, they can have a graveside service.

When I got Betty, I hoped to keep her inside, but knew since she was born outside that I might not be able to. So I only had her claws trimmed. She learned not to claw on my furniture before she made herself an outsider. She is very smart.

Good early afternoon Awesome Autumn Ladies!!!
Oh Boy, I got up way to early this morning!!! I started coughing in bed at 4:30 This AM and I got up and sat in my recliner in our bed room and then Sammy decided he wanted up and then Antonio started crying at our door and wanted us up also. So I gave in and got up with them!!! I let Sammy outside and then sat down in Ted's chair and Antonio got up in my lap for some Mommy loving and got down and gave Sammy some head rubs and a few kisses. Sammy was loving it until Antonio decided he wanted to make dough on Sammy's side and Sammy wasn't having any of that!!! So he stood up and Antonio fell on the floor!! Then they decided to play tag! Jack came rolling out of his room around 6:30 and said he wasn't sleepy anymore. He said he would wait and eat breakfast with Grandpa when he gets up. Rob got up and got ready for work and talked to Jack a few minutes and left for work! Jack sat at the table and was drawing on his paper for a while then he turned on the tv and played his new Nintendo Switch game I bought him on Sunday. It's called Rocket League. It looks like race cars playing soccer in a big dome. Each team only has two cars. He said it is his favorite game for Switch now!! He can design his own car and change the name of his team and their colors!! The goal Lights up when he makes a goal! I do like to set and watch him play it!!! He wants me to go and get a tote big enough for Antonio lay on top of. He wants to make a couple holes around on the lid so Antonio can lay on top of it and pull out his catnip toys. He had Grandpa to wash the plastic top of the birthday cake box so he could put some of Antonio's toys in it this morning. Antonio did play with his toys that Jack put in there for him. I don't know who is spoiled the most, Jack, Sammy or Antonio!!! My house looks like a Play house for a little boy and his dog and kitten!!! I wouldn't have it any other way!!!! I think I'll go look at Jacks totes he has and see if one of them would work. I can go get Jack another one today. I better get off before I loose this post!

That's fine, my DGS and his SO tried to get the claws trimmed a bit but she is a wild kitty and they were afraid of hurting her so that ended that. They are going to take her to have them trimmed for a couple of times but it is expensive for them. So no it really wasn't very simple for them.!! But it is going to get done. LOL
As far as planned funerals I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought it was a bad idea. Forgive me if it came across that way was just a conversation and not saying you shouldn't do it, Sorry it came across that way. My girls know I want to be cremated and there is money available in an old insurance policy I have had for years. it will cover whatever they need to do. Always said I wanted them to take it and go on vacation to a beach somewhere and scatter my ashes late at night on a secluded part of the beach. Okay I am done.
Please don't take that as a suggestion either.

Connie, I did not take offense to what you said. DF hubby wanted his ashes buried on their place. They have acreage in the country. Somehow she thought it was illegal and was afraid to do it. So she buried them at the cemetery.

Guess what? It is raining so I looked up this rhyme.
It is a quite modern nursery rhyme, first recorded by the composer Charles Ives in 1939, New York.
The first line “It’s raining – it’s pouring – old men are snoring” was once published in The Outlook, weekly newspaper (New York City, 1909). Since then, there was no other mention about it until 1939. From 1944 onwards the song’s copyright belongs to Freda Selicoff, Indiana.
“It’s Raining, It’s Pouring” Lyrics
It’s raining; it’s pouring.
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head on the top of the bed,
And couldn’t get up in the morning.

My brothers and I used to sing that song a lot when it rained, we were allowed to play outside in rain unless it was thunder and lightning. Jumping in mud puddles was a favorite game to play, the muddier the better.
since my brother's were in boy scouts and i was in girl scouts we all knew all the campfire songs and all the scary tales you told around the camp fire. Always tried one up each other on those as well.

Lucy, Jack will like that nursery rhyme!!! I'm hoping we will get in a game or two of Rummikub before school let's out. Rob will be a little late today so Ted is picking Jack up at the bus stop and we will eat early because we have to leave at 5:10 to take Jack to his ball game. Rob will meet us at the ball game. I'm glad the ball game is early tonight. We will get to spend more time here with Jack!!!
Sandy, we are fixing scalloped potatoes and Ham in the crock pot today!!! Boy it smells good in here!!! I'm not sure if I'm baking anything today!! I hope you share more of your crock pot recipes with us!!! With our busy life around here the crock pot cooking seems to work good for us. Rob and Jack have a busy schedule it seems like!
Cat, Sammy is getting his moving in out side chasing the squirrel out of the bird seed today!!!
I will try to check back in later!! Peggysue, Mo.

Connie, I never heard that one. LOL
Cat, my kids sang that song. I taught my kids lots of nursery rhymes and songs. Since I almost always taught elementary kids I was able to retain them and not let them go bye bye.
