Hey Ruth! Guess for now it’s just you and me chatting. You had mentioned a few weeks ago that you were considering taking another trip. I know I hate getting ready for trips and packing and all the work. Hope this is a fun trip for you and some place that you wanna visit.
I’m sure that your son will love the Afghan. I have cancer so cozy when you’re reading. You’re right about houses being a lot of work, my husband’s going to be installing the new toilet for our daughter on Monday when we’re babysitting. We do hope they stay there for quite a few years. They put an awful lot of time and money into that house.
I chose not to craft today but started painting the woodwork in our tiny extra bathroom. It hasn’t had a new paint job in 15 years and really really needs it. Even though I only painted for about 20 minutes, it already looks so much better. And I’m anxious for the job to be done.
My quilting class is not until November 9. But I know the next two weeks going to be very hectic. So I need to get my “homework“ for the class done. Didn’t get it done today, so I hope to do that tomorrow.
Got a lovely fire going on out in the fire pit, it’s a quiet evening, and we still have bugs making night sounds. Of course towards the end of the week that’ll all be over as we have freezing temperatures coming.
Hoping I’m Making some sense, as I’m voice texting.

well there is one part that doesn't make sense so the voice recognition messed that up. it's about being cozy while reading.
I think it's even better then that you're getting that homework done. If you're going to be busy for the next couple weels it will feel good to know that's all taken care of.
I sure misjudged now much difference bulky yarn and larger hook would make. I chained the 201 stitches and it was huge so I went back to the 169. It's large now but a good size. Now hopefully I have enough yarn to at least make it square but I'd like to make it a rectangle by making plenty of rows and I do think that I have enough
Enjoy that firepit while you can before the "white stuff" starts falling and it's too cold.

hi, the paper pieceing class was ok.the two quilt shop owners and their helper was very patient. in the beginning I had to keep calling one over to so I could get things straight in my head.
I was probably the slowest one there. hopefully now I have it straight in my head. will need alot of practice.
there is one section I will have to cut some new pieces for.kinda screwed them up.nita will help me.
some of the ladies blocks were turning out beautiful. amazing the color combinations they pick out.
betty who is a very excelent quilter and applique person was having problems also. she brung a machine she hadn't sewed on for a few years. thought she had a new blade in her cutter nope.
nita has a new rotary cutter. I didn't knowt hey make these kind.
it is automatic. when you take your hand of it closes the blade. I am going to check that out.
jammie time.
oh I slept good last night. woke up at 6 this am. PHYL

Phyl, I'm so glad the class turned out to be much better than you thought it would be. Now you'll be learning something new and will be able to do even more crafting. what a great idea to have a rotary cutter that closes automatically. I'm sure there have been many, many people who have sustained seriously injusted by handling rotary cutters inproperly and leaving them open. I'm surprised someone didn't think of an auto closing one before this.
I did start the afgan and am about to start the second color section so I'll see how it looks. Dh thinks it's nice and he also thinks the two yarns will go together nicely.
Ginny, well I should have figured that out so thanks for clarifying.I told my friend who is in her mid 90's and almost blind about voice recognition typing for her laptop but she doesn't know how to use it so I'm hoping that one of her children or grandchildren can help her with that.Reading on her Kindle and doing email is her life now.So she needs audio books and voice emails.

Good morning!!
Ruth, from what you described and what I saw online, those colors should look absolutely awesome together....this should be a magnificent afghan. Glad Dh likes it too, as I am sure he also knows what DGS’s taste runs like. What a great gift, a nice snuggly afghan for winter reading. Do you hope to have this done for a Christmas gift?
Speaking of afghans. Got a ton of them in my house, one of them I made. The others were made by my mom. Hope my kids realize that when I am no longer there to tell them that. (Sorry .....do not mean to sound morbid).
Got some done on the quitling fabric last night. Cut all the green fabrics...now need to do some piecing. Great church service this am. Ginny

Well Phyl, whichever you do ...either eat at home or out... I hope it's a good one and you enjoy. Have a good time "bummin" also
Ginny, it's always a good feeling to see a project taking shape. Now you have part of the fabric cut so a very good start. I'm glad the worship service was a good one too. The afgan I'm making for dgs is for his birthday...one of his gifts. I mean to answer your question before...sorry I didn't. His birthday isn't until Feb 1st so I have lots of time but the afgan is working up fast so won't take as long as most afgans.Dh just looked at it again now that some of the "other color" rows are done and he likes it so I guess it's one a man would like. I'll get a bit done on it today I think because there are no other plans except for the usual. This trip doesn't take much packing for since it's just overnight but here in this state you don't want to forget anything essential because stores in little towns are few and far between. Tomorrow we'll be going to the post office and topping off the gas tank. and no we're not taking the new car. One last trip for the winter and one last trip in the old car.
Have a blessed Sunday everyone.
Hello to CJ and Meg who we haven't seen in a couple days.

Oh and Ginny, no you don't sound morbid. When we have cherished family momentoes we want our children and grandchildren to remember the person who made and/or gave them to us as fondly as we remember them. And since we're all getting older we do think of these things. My mother wasn't a crafter so I don't have any from her. What she did to pass the time was read and do crossword puzzles

Hope Phyl got some bummin’ time in!!!!
Rutjh- well you might have answered my question earlier and I missed it. Some days my mind is not running on all cylinders and I do not read things as thoroughly as I perhaps should.
Found some more brown fabric, which I will need for the table runner. Also figured out the supplies I will need for the runner, which I will buy at the.quilt store. But I found some really easy beaded Christmas ornaments that my sister in law and I can do when we get together in a week! I am excited about that.
BBL to see who checked in G

Oh yes that will be fun to get together with your sister in law and do ornaments. I love crafting with family. When ds and dgd were here dgd and I well I crocheted and she knitted but we sat together on the couch and did our needlecrafting. I remember once when I went from Western NY to Erie to visit my aunt and found her and her neighbor sitting in her kitchen crocheting. I didn't even know she crocheted but she was amazing at sewing and I knew that. Anyway right then I REALLY needed to crochet with them and I think she hunted me down a hook and some yarn from somewhere in here house so I was able to joint them. That was the first time I knew that patterns sometimes had mistakes. She mentioned that her ripple granny afgan she was working on didn't work out mathmatically so she had to find the error.
Can't believe tomorrow is already the day for a new thread. Time goes by so fast!

Yes, it’s hard to believe that next week starts a new thread. I’m excited about those ornaments that I found, because I think they’ll be easy for my sister-in-law and I do and have fun to do together. Got a little bit of work done on the snowman and it’s finally starting to take shape. Have a good night. See you tomorrow.

And Ruth, that’s a really nice story about you going in and crocheting. So glad that she had an extra hook for you!
I’ve often thought of the concept of the Amish quilting bee was a nice thing. Everyone gets together and works on their projects together. It’s a productive time, but also just a nice time for people to share each other’s lives.
