Wow, its quiet here today!!!
Busy day for me babysitting. Heading to Bible study tonight also. I am finally making some headway on the first snowman ornament, and its starting to sort of look like its supposed to. I showed it to DGS (age 3) and he picked out the next ornament I am to make, another snowman but this one is waving to you. So cute.

Well I'm finally here. Dh was doing last minute car checks...battery, tires, etc the we were talking. Well he was mostly talking politics and I was listening and doing some crocheting while listening. Then I got distracted by a crochet pattern I saw online which was from a blog I'd never been to so I had to go thru all the offered free patterns to see what new ones I needed....sure, like I need any more!!
How sweet that your dgs picked out your next item to work on. ARe you giving the ornaments to them?
I think I'm all ready. I mean we're only going to be gone 1 1/2 days. So I'm planning on spending the evening crocheting. Oh that's right, I also spent a half hour in a futile wait on the phone for one of my credit cards. I messed up putting in my password online so they thought my account was hacked I guess and closed it but never contacted me about it. I only found out because I tried to use it and it wouldn't work. And when on /the phone I can't do anything else because I can't do that holding the phone between neck and shoulder that my dd and ddil seem to be so good at. Didn't go to the post office after all. I was going to go alone because dh was really fatigued but then he insisted that he would go so I told him we could mail the packages after we get back.I only went to the nearest covenience store/gas station and filled the tank.
So I may be quite late getting on here tomorrow although I might be awake before dh and have time before we go.

Ruth, sounds like you had an interesting day! Were you able to straighten out the issue with the credit card company? That is why I usually put those type calls on speaker phone, then I can do other things at the same time. Hope you did not get. Neck pain from having to hold the phone so long. I am really hoping that you get some crochet time in this evening and can relax. Think we can all relate to the path you took looking at a new crochet blog...and all the nonsense you had to endure to get some free patterns. Hope the new patterns are great and you can use them! Are you taking the afghan for your DGS with you to work on? Safe travels to you and DH! Enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
I asked DGS which snowman he wanted next. Yes, the ornaments are for his house. DD puts up a kid tree and an adult tree. I am making ornaments that cannot be broken for the kid tree.
Have a good night all Ginny

You know that's a great idea about a kid tree. Should have thought of it and suggested it to ds and ddil years ago. I have not made ornaments for them because I didn't know if they would want handmade ones on their tree but if they had a kid tree it would be perfect. Well most of their children are beyond kid tree age not except for the 3 youngest however maybe even the older ones might like a tree that they could help their younger siblings with hanging handmade ornments on. I'll have to get busy and make some and suggest that for next year.I don't think I'll have time to make enough this year and get them sent. Maybe though since I'm finished with everything for this year.
I'm not sure if I'll take the afgan with us or not. I was thinking of starting a hat tonight that I saw online earlier in my pattern search. I didn't start it yet though but it's only about 9:30 so I have time.It would be an early start on birthday presents for dgd for 3rd of Feb.
Well it's been a day of just us. I hope the others are all doing ok. See you all sometime tomorrow, God willing.

Good morning!
Ruth, hope you and Dh have great travel weather and a really nice time! Sometimes a change in scenery is nice, even for us homebodies.
Got DGD here, so I will be brief. BBL to see who checks in Ginny

checking in before we leave. The weather took an unexpected down turn and they are saying snow showers so I'm adding my winter jacket to my list of things to go with us. Hopefully there is not more than just snow showers by tomorrow when we'll be on our way home. I was hoping dh would decide to cancel the trip but he hasn't so we'll see what happens. It's not like we've never driven in snow before.
Ginny give that baby a hug from me.

Years ago, I made ornaments (plastic needlepoint) for the tree when our oldest was not yet born. I made sure that at least at a level that she could reach all ornaments were child friendly. Want the same for her as I can see she struggles with keeping her kids safe

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip without any bad weather. Ginny - Sounds like you are working on some fun projects. Phyl - I'm glad you enjoyed the paper piecing class. Meg - Hope the weather is nice there and you're enjoying the new Poldark season. Sorry I haven't posted in a bit. There hasn't been much going on with me and I haven't been doing any crafting, so nothing to really talk about. The weather has been pretty nice, cooler but mostly sunny. It's been good to see the leaves start changing. Here's a link to the most recent Merry and Bright quilt block, with some pictures to see. Not a block I like that much, but it seems to work better with solid fabrics, rather than prints. www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2018/10/merry-bright-sew-along-block-free-11.htmlTake care everyone!

Gee, if the criteria for posting here was that we had to craft each day then I should have been thrown off this thread long time ago!! Ha ha ha....but CJ I do get it, sometimes life is quiet and there is not much to say. Of course I am a chatter box and never seem to shut up. And y’all put up with me! Ha ha ha
CJ- are your leaves pretty?? I read an article that said, for my area the fall leaf color would be poor, something to do with the weather. Gotta say, from what I am seeing I agree. Our maples have turned, not their usual bright colors but somewhat subdued. And the rest of the leaves are holding on... Hope you have some beautiful fall foliage to view. Thanks for posting the Merry and Bright block. Totally agree that this block is awkward- and its neat to see that some have chosen to make that whole center square and pinwheel the same fabric, others have decided to use two fabrics. In most cases those that chose 2 different fabrics just make me dizzy looking at them. But again, its so neat to see what others are doing with their imaginations and fabric. Think my 2 favorite blocks are #18 and #5..
Hoping Ruth and Dh are having a great time and are safe through all the crazy weather!
Babysat for DGD#2 today- so no crafting as of yet. Hope to get back to work on the snowman in a little bit. Ginny

Just a quick stop before I head to my bedroom to read and probably do some knitting if I have an audio book. I have been knitting and I have finished a couple of books this week. I have been getting some chores done now that it is cooler our temps are in the 70s now. we have had 2 b/days here on the 20 & 21, DS & DD. Yesterday I had my flu shot so that is out of the way. I went out to dinner tonight at Sizzlers and I always eat too much when I go to a place like that.
Ruth, a lady at church used to make little theme trees for our craft faire they were very cute. I have one around here somewhere. I am not very crafty when it comes to Christmas decorations. You are going on a trip? I hope you have a good time.
cj, I hope you are having some good weather before you really get into winter. Yes I am enjoying Poldark. I still have 1 more book to read.
Ginny, I see you are doing a lot of b/sitting I bet you wonder how you ever found time yo go to work.
I am tired so I should head to bed. I wish you all a good nights sleep and sweet dreams.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I appreciate that you post and let us know how you are, I'm always happy to read what's going on and what everyone is thinking. The leaves here are not pretty either. I'm surprised because I thought I'd heard that with the rain we had back in the Summer that it would make for pretty color, but maybe I heard it wrong. Meg - I'm glad to hear your weather is cooler and that you've been enjoying some knitting. I bought some apples at a farm market the other day and so far I've made apple crisp and today I made an apple cake. The batter for this cake was very thick, but it tastes pretty good. I put double the cinnamon in it, but it's still not "spicy" enough for me, so if I ever make this again I'd add more spices. This time of year just makes me want to bake all the time. I'm still trying to get myself to put the borders on that Solstice quilt. I'm really tired of looking at the unfinished top. I was telling myself to set a deadline to finish it before the end of the month, so maybe that will work to get me moving. The weather here today is sunny, a bit windy, and in the 50s. It's so nice to have the blinds open and enjoy the sun without the heat. Take care everyone!

I did reply last evening but I guess it didn't go thru. I mentioned my favorites in the new blocks on the site you posted, CJ, I don't remember now which are the ones I like best except for 17 and 19.
Our leaves are the same deep gold they always are. We do have bushes that turn red so do get to see wome red here. We don't have maple trees.
Yes we're home. When we got up it was raining plus I didn't get any sleep so we had breakfast and came home. Dh was a little nervous because he thought I would be too tired to drive but with the Lord's guidance and loving care we made it home safely and I'm just been resting and am going to take a nap in a minute.
never did do any crocheting while we were gone even though I took yarn and hooks for three different projects including the afgan.
See you all later after my nap

Busy day here, so I will post more later. Great to see that Ruth and Dh are home safely!! Meg so glad you got your flu shot. Every year I “get into it” with a dear friend who refuses to get one. Now her Dh has AFIB and he refuses to get one also. The flu shot is so easy and usually effective. Who wants to take a chance getting it!! CJ- I can smell that apple cake from NY.....got a wonderful recipe for apple stuffed cupcakes that Dd and I made 2 weeks ago. Its not low anything but I would be happy to post it if you like. They turned out superb. Ok will fill you in on my silly day later. I got to Joanns, so my crafting is in for the day. BBL Ginny
