Meg, Hope Janet is ok, but I guess in learning that she was releaased from the hopsital is a good thing. Being a mom means you never stop worrying- even over our adult children.
Ruth, well if anyone could figure out how to make a. Pattern work its you! Hope that your change makes it easier for you.
I read last night. No sense watching the election as there was nothing I could do about it. We voted absentee ballot weeks ago. BBL Ginny

Good morning
Ginny, yes I was disappointed in the results of the NY gov election. My brother had a good campaign going on facebook to get people to vote for you know who's opponent but of course that didn't happen and same gov won again
Well I saw that this woman had a video so I watched it. It was the worst video I've seen in that she did a lot of talking but little crocheting and only showed doing the very first row which was not helpful at all. The problem I've having is that I can't seem to get the sides of the trees straight.
I got something in email today that talks about using your gift to help others. By giving things to others it helps them in many ways. If you give them an item of apparel for instance it will help them with having another item of clothing but also shows them that someone cares. Some people have no one who cares about them. In thinking that, hopefully it also shows them that God cares. So I'm going to get busy on some more of my items to donate. There's nothing that I really need to make right now anyway. Got dh that hat made so he knows he's important enough to me to stop my work to make that for him.Grandchildren know I'm thinking of them so all is well. And in between I'll sneak in making those cup holders and of course some ear warmers for the grandaughter and her siblings.
Dgd told me there were actually enough gloves for each of them to have 5 pairs and all of them found that many gloves that fit them.I didn't stop to count the final number I put in that box.
It snowed again last night and snow is sticking to the ground but not the roads so probably good to go to go out to get license plates tomorrow or other errands that need to be done.

Yayyyy, I did it. I tried it again and this time it worked. It looks great except for one mistake I made but I'm probably the only one that would ever notice that. Still have to weave in a lot of ends and do one round of edging. All of that, though, shouldn't take much time at all.I did go back to doing the original pattern with the post stiches and I'm glad I did because it looks really nice that way.Now to make 7 more...plus the mittens that are on the agenda. I didn't end up getting as many mittens done as I had planned. I had hoped to get a certain number done by the end of Sept..don't even remember the number I had in mind but I do still have time. Winter lasts a long time here and there's a lot of people in need.
See you later. Have a great day.

Good evening, Do not like to go political here at all, but noone else lives in NY so I can bash all my local politicians all day and noone should care. All i will say is that the governor was reelected, and if you counted only the votes upstate ( the term used in NY for everywhere but NYC) a different person would be elected to be governor. Very frustrating but that is how NY is.
Ruth, so glad you figured out the pattern - no doubt in my mind that you would!! Sounds like you have figured out the perfect way to make this pattern, following up to a certain point and modifying as you go. Bet the headband looks great,
I too have read posts and blogs on how our crafting can be a blessing to others. You never know how much a handmade item might mean to someone.....and even someone whom you have never met.
Nice weather here in NY today- a cool spring day- in the high 50’s. Yes I know its fall, but today felt like spring.
Have a blessed evening Ginny

The only problem with the pattern now is that the sesigner supposedly has sizes lised for toddlers to adult. Well she says for toddler chain 63. I did that. It fits me. She says chain 85 for an adult. They would fit a elephant's head. I don't think that I crochet looser than most people and I used both the yarn she stipulated and the same hook. So when I go to make these for the younger children I'll have to cut the number of stitches and use a smaller hook.
And that's so true Ginny....you never know what a handmade item will mean to someone, especially someone that has never had anything made especially for them or for those that have nothing. Even just making something for a coworker or a friend for no special occaision can mean a lot to that person.

I had at one time called the local hospital (for my ladies knitting and crochetting group at church) about a need for baby blankets. The person I spoke to from the labor and delivery unit said that the hospital likes to give home made baby blankets to each child as they leave the unit. Of course the recipient never will know who made that item, just that they have a special gift. Funny, i have been at baby showers where many hand made baby afghans were given, and also know of some babies that got none.
Slept pretty well last nite- and its nice to be home. I know that the one of our three cats is super happy to see me, guess I am the only person who tolerates her strange behavior. This morning she is sleeping like a baby- after being fed.
Gotta get busy on my Christmas ornaments! My sister inlaw made some of them for me.....and they came out beautifully. (She is a perfectionist, all her crafting endeavors are quite something to behold). Just looking at the calendar, Thanksgiving is not that far off, and I am sure DD#1 will have her tree up that weekend. I want to have at least an ornament or two done by then.
Got a safety meeting today at work and we have DGD#2 here for a few hours. Lots of laundry to do today also.
And Dd is watching those Hallmark Christmas movies! She showed me last nite, there is an App to keep track of which of the new crop of movies you have watched. If I can remember my Apple password I might download it.
Tomorrow is my first class for the table runner. Gotta sew on that one last strip (that I misplaced and found a few days later) and get all my supplies together.
Have a great day all. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope you enjoy your class tomorrow, I'll be interested to hear about it. The weather here today is beautiful. Sunny and in the high 50s, around 60 degrees. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow and colder weather next week. I need to go sit outside for awhile and enjoy it today. I haven't been doing any crafting, hope to get back to it soon. I went out yesterday and ran a bunch of errands and did grocery shopping. I've been a bit frustrated at not being able to find items I'm looking for. I used to be able to go to one grocery store for everything, but now I have to go to several to get what I need. You'd think I wouldn't care since I'm retired with no obligations, but I guess I've become lazy Take are everyone!

It's cold here and everything is covered in white fluffy stuff! I'm sitting in the children's section of the library right now. I didn't go to quilting today. The interstate was icy with a ground fog this morning. Today was all the way across the valley. I heard that lots of cars skidded off the interstate.
The background noise of children playing is better than the TV anyway! hb's caregiver is at the house this afternoon, and I had some portable paperwork to do!

I thought I had posted earlier but I had started then dh got up then I worked on some cooking so am just now getting back here. when Ginny, I'm glad to hear you got rested and yes, I'm sure there's a lot to do now. It's getting very close to the busy time of year too
Sue, it snowed here too and got very cold. They found a man frozen to death in one of our little city parks. It's so sad when those things happen either due to homelessness or people drinking too much or taking drugs.
CJ, enjoy that good weather while you can.I know it feels good to have errands and shopping done for the week. Yes so many people have mentioned the lack of there being what they need at the stores they usually go to.
I'm working on the headbands but I need to rework the pattern for smaller ones because the tree motiff is too large for the small one in my opinion.I wish I had the right colors in sport weight yarn but I'm sure I don't so I'll just have to try a smaller hook and see what I can do. Maybe I can crochet the tree part with just thread and then crochet around it in regular yarn. I'll have to experiment.

As I was a blabbermouth before, I will be brief now....
Ruth, how sad that there was a fatality near you in the city park. That is just the kind of news that leaves you with a heavy heart for those less fortunate. Let us know how you figure out a way to work on those headbands. I am sure you will figure out some way to make the pattern work.
Sue, hope that you got everything accomplished while at the library today! Our libraries are wonderful places of refuge for various reasons. And a change of scenery is nice.Hope you got home safely on the slippery roads.
CJ- class will be 2 sessions.....I have to finish ironing the block of strips I made last week, which I hear is quite a job. Guess I will do that tomorrow morning. Many of us are in the same boat....using different stores for different items. We go to Walmart for many things, because the prices are so low. But Walmart does not carry everything- so I frequently find myself in 2 local stores or BJ’s to fill in the gaps. Guess we have to be thankful that we have so many places to get groceries, but it sure would be nice if one store had it all.
Better go work on a Christmas ornament. Ginny

Actually got some work done on the Christmas ornament! Hope to have at least 2 done before Dd puts her tree up- which I am sure will be Thanksgiving weekend. I had sent another kit (also that canvas needlepoint) to my DSIL, who made them- getting all 8 done. They are large but so adorable! I did give her the easier ones to make, Snowmen faces require a lot of color changes and some outlining that the ornament shaped ornaments did not require. Dd loved what I gave her (the ones that DSIL made).
Gotta get in the shower and then, out for a walk. Ginny

Good morning all. I wish it was warm enough to walk her but then when it is warmer it's usually very windy and I can't walk then either. So happy walking Ginny. I know the ornaments are beautiful and will become a treasured family heirloom! I have 3 of the headbands done I think. I need to get them all together so that I know how many. I made a mistake on one of the trees yesterday but it made it look even better so I left it. Soon I'll take the time to figure out how to make all of them like that but first I need to get the rest done so I can mail them sometime before Christmas. I'd like it to be before Thanksgiving so if I can get them done this weekend I will be able to mail them next week since I'll be going into town. Today I'm going to work on the smaller one and see how it goes in reducing the sizes of the entire band...that part won't be hard ...and the Christmas tree graph part. I hope you all have a great day. It's cold again tody so I elected to stay home and do my needed errands next week. Of course you all know what a procrastinator I am so it comes naturally to put things off

Good afternoon, Ruth, congrats on getting the 3 headbands done, at least 3 of them. Funny how mistakes can sometimes work in our favor as you have found with the Christmas tree. Think its a great idea to get them done before your next journey into town- so they can be mailed before Thanksgiving. Getting through lines at the PO can be awful then.
I ironed my green strips- found that using my smaller ancient iron more useful than our sons new iron. Leaving for class soon- Have a great day! Ginny

Does daydreaming count as crafting? I'm trying to focus on some overdue record keeping that I'm having a difficult time wth, and I have so many other entertaining and fun ideas I would much rather do.
I was hoping the white tailed deer would come through the front yard again, but they must have taken a different route out of the creek bed today or waited until dark. The woofers kept waiting and looking!
