Happy Monday! Another week begins. Guess we are all starting to think about Christmas/holiday crafts...funny when you see the Christmas crafting items on display in stores in July- when there is more time to accomplish all those gifts.
Ruth, the headbands sound really cool. Meg and Phyl, glad you stopped in last night too...
Its Monday, and Mondays are always busy for me. Gotta go, will stop back in later. Ginny

CJ, that elephant is very cute and I love the confidence the woman has in saying that her crochet skills are not good but she knows she can make that elephant just by looking at it and going to youtube . I think I could do the head, body and limbs but not sure about those ears. She does wonderful embroidery. Ginny, yes the beginning of another week that God has blessed us with. I think you've found what they rest of us found when we retired and that is we wonder how we ever had time to work because our time is still filled. Well I have most business taken care of. Called the bank and the woman who left me the message was not in today so I talked to another person who didn't really sound as though she knew much about what she was saying. She told me that my account had become inactive so what dh ordered online wasn't paid for and told me that I had to come into the bank and do some kind of transaction for it to become active. So I tried to clarify and she said "why don't I just go ahead and make it active"... I thought, oh good plan. So that's taken care of. Called the car dealer parts dept and my spare tire has been in for some time but the young man that works that dept said he didn't know who it was for. Guess the salesman didn't follow through. He told me he would keep checking on it and call me when it was there...he didn't.So I just need to go get it but the parts person asked that I not come in today because he was alone in the dept and very busy. I wasn't going to go today anyway so that's no problem. Now to pay the bills for the month. And I still have to get those license plates...don't know why you can't do that by mail like you can do when registration needs renewed. Have a great day everyone and I'll be back later. As I mentioned, I did get quite a bit of crafting done yesterday and hopefully will today also. I'll get the link for those Christmas headbands in case any of you want to see them. They are very cute.

Hello Crafters Ruth - I've always admired confidence, something I lack I'm glad you were able to work things out with the bank. Hope you can get things worked out with the car parts and license plates. Ginny - I hope everything is working well with your Internet again. Also hope you don't get all the rain and bad weather we're supposed to have here tomorrow. Phyl - Your retreat sounds like it will be fun and hopefully productive. Meg - What did you think of Poldark last night? Lots of interesting story lines right now. Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting done. We had a lot of rain here this morning, over an inch in just a few hours. Tomorrow they are projecting thunderstorms. Weather is so weird I made a small Applesauce Raisin cake this morning (in a 9x9 pan) and it came out well. I'm still in my Fall cooking mode. I see there's a blog hop for a few days, starting today. Here's a link in case anyone wants to check out the blogs each day: daneesey.blogspot.com/2018/11/pick-pumpkin-blog-hop-schedule.htmlThe new season of the Holiday Baking Championship starts tonight on the Food Network at 9:00 P.M., just in case any of you are interested. I've really enjoyed these shows each year and I like the 3 judges too. Take care everyone!

CJ, the applesauce, raisin cake sounds delicious. Did you put frosting on it? I love almost any baked goods that have raisins. I'll enjoy looking at the blogs for which you posted the links. You all are not going to believe this, but because I was thinking of making some kind of quilted items with all this fabric I have I bought a WHOLE bunch of batting. I don't even know if it's the right batting but it will work for me. You know those bolts they have in the fabric stores...well it's a while bolt of it. Now I want to buy some faux fur to make pompoms for hats. They are very popular now. Here's the link to my Christmas tree headbands in case anyone wants to see. Instead of buttons I'll use beads because I have a lot more beads than buttons and I do think they'll look nicer too pattern-paradise.com/2017/11/30/free-crochet-pattern-christmas-tree-graph-headband/Just got done putting on a pot of chicken chili. I've never made it before but it was mentioned a couple times on the other thread I post on. I bet mine is completely different than theirs though. I improvise a lot and we like ours spicy. Then cleaned the kitchen so I'm ready to sit and crochet. Dh is sure loving his hat.

Oh and the other thing I'm going to make as a Christmas gift is mug cozies for travel mugs. We're giving one to each of the family as one of their gifts and they don't have handles...handles are sold separately so I'm going to make covers for them. Now to look up patterns to get ideas. I'm sure none of the patterns are going to fit these particular travel mugs so I'll have to adjust but I want to get ideas for design...I'm not real creative on my own but I do like to see what others made and then change to suit me.

Hi everyone,
Ruth, sorry I didn't get back last night. I did a lot of crocheting and listened to a audio book. Though before that I watched Poldark. You are really going to be busy with all that material and batting plus all the other project you have going. I'd like some of that chicken soup. I have never had chili chicken soup.
cj, Of course I watched Poldark last night . I think season 4 will come to an end soon and I will miss it . I love all the actors. Do you get the Masterpiece e-mail? I enjoy learning more about the actors and some of the behind the scene stuff. Last nights episode was very good and I love Cornwall. I never got to visit there and I probably never will because I doubt that I will go over to the UK again. But who knows.
Ginny, slow sown I think you are busier than when you were working. Lately I have been watching the Hallmark channel and this morning I turned it on and they had a program showing different Christmas holiday crafts and how to make them. Of course I am not very crafty though they make it look easy. Maybe I should get Devin making something.
This evening I am going to crochet a b/blanket I started early summer and I do need to finish it. I also need to finish a b/blanket that I have been working on for awhile. both b/blankets should be finished about the same time if I keep working on them.
Have a good evening.

Meg, I did look up those hand and foot warmers you mentioned. They sound like a great idea and some are really nice but they sure are pricey.
Yes if there are some crafts that are related to video games that he likes or cartoons that he likes Devin would probably really enjoy it. Has he done crafts before? I don't really watch the Hallmark movie channel. I don't care much for movies. It will feel good to have those baby blankets done. Then you can start some more.
Well I had high hopes of getting a few of these headbands done before I went to get the license plates which I was planning to do Thursday. It's just across the street from the downtown post office so I could mail them then but it's taken me about 5 hours just to get a good start on the first one. I had to do the math because it didn't turn out right the first time. Then I didn't like the look of it in dc so started over with hdc. I'm up to the actual tree part now so it should go a little better... I hope. Pattern designer said it was only for decoration so she made the pattern so the band is only 3 inches wide so I did add a couple rows before starting the tree part.
DGC got the box I sent that had all the fingerless gloves in it and they loved them. Ddil sent me a lot of pictures of them trying them on. Even the baby had some on.They should get the ohter box tomorrow and my friend should get her prayer shawl tomorrow too.

Good morning!!
CJ- Wow. That crochetted elephant is adorable. I also enjoyed the Food Network Christmas bakeoff....will have to check it out. They say we are in for intermittend storms today. Stay safe....you have a good roof!! That must be a comfort. Meg- my Dd says there is a checklist for the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, a way to keep track of which ones you have seen. Of course you will find something neat to make when you finish the 2 blankets you are working on. Wonder what Devin would enjoy owning that you made for him? Ruth, glad you got your financiall/bank issues cleared up. Mug cozies are a great idea, and hopefully not too much work to make.
Think things slow down tomorrow a bit. Friday is nuts for me, cannot complain. Have a blessed day all Ginny

Today is root canal day. I don't think I'm going to get very. much crafting done today. My appointment is at eight. Thank you for posting the blog hop link. Your enthusiasm is contagious ... all of you. That's part of what I had been missing.
I read about the endodontist I'm going to see today. She sounds very well trained but is new to the area. Her office is located in the same complex where our old dentist used to be. That dentist went back to school to be an architect! Her father was a dentist. Her brother was a dentist.
We had several inches of snow last night. Winter is definitely trying to arrive the mountains have a good start, but not enough for ski season to start. This is such a contrast to Los Angeles living. Once winter is here, several of the schools and parks flood the playgrounds and mainstain outdoor skating rinks. There are school field trips to go skiing. Our rural school has a D.C. Ski track around and through part of a neighboring field. There are X country ski trails in town ... on a golf course, in one of the parks and near the hospital. There are two downhill ski areas and two x-c within a reasonable distance. Big Sky and Bridger Bowl And Lone Mountain and Bohart. I did a little x-c skiing for about ten years, but I liked flat tracks in a big meadow.
BBL
I'm rambling this morning, but it's time to start getting ready.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sue - I hope everything goes well with your root canal. I've had several and fortunately they all went well. I always wanted to try Cross Country skiing but I wouldn't trust my knees now - I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy that. Ruth - I didn't put any icing on the cake. It's more like a snack cake and has the texture of gingerbread. Those headbands are so cute. Ginny - Hope you don't get too much bad weather. We've just mostly had heavy rain here and fortunately missed the strong winds that caused damage in Northern Maryland and around Baltimore. Meg - I do think there are only a few shows left for Poldark this season. I don't get those emails, but I'll have to check that out. I was fortunate to get to see Cornwall and Devon way back in the 1980s when I took a couch tour of England, Scotland and Wales. It is a beautiful part of the country. Phyl - Hope you are getting things ready for your retreat. I enjoyed the Holiday Baking Show last night, so many pretty things were made. And I enjoy these judges, they don't get too "mean" with the contestants. Everyone seems pretty well matched skill wise too. I haven't been doing any crafting, just mostly some reading. I'll need to go out one day this week for some shopping. Take care everyone!

HI, Yes I am ready for the retreat.taking to big projects, 1 little one and some embroidery and a book to read.
might take the yarn and get started on hannah's hat. just need to put the fringe on her scarf.
sunday I had to take a few rows of nathan's quilt top and rearrange some squares.so am starting over on that one. got turned around.
will have to watch how I pick up the squares and put them on the machine.
mary jo and I have the food ready.we are doing the breakfast brunch on thursday. she made a egg bake. I am taking a pgk of variety cereals in case someone does not want eggs.
also bananas
also pillsbury cinnamon rolls. not ww friendly.
ok back doctor yesterday. she spent over an hour with us.can I remember everything she said? heck no.
I have sacroiliits, disorder of sacrum (can't remember what she said about that. something to do with both hips. spinal stenosis at L4 and L5 (vertrabes)bilateral hip joint arthritis.
that is enough for me.on the 13th I will get a in clinic injection.
they shoot the cortizone and something else in you.
I had on early last year worked fora bout 3 months I think,.this does not work then it will be a epidural.
so for sitting at long days of quilting and long car rides ,I am to take
a 2oo mg ibuprofen with a 500 mg tylenol together every 4-6 hours with food.
surgery is not an option for now or maybe later. they can put the rods in then 5 years later the pain is back .then what do they do? surgery is already done.
there are stories out there about people being in worse pain after surgery.
as long as my platelets are high surgery is out anyway.phyl

Good evening!
Good thing I have a nice book to read this evening, as Dh is watching the election results and complaining. I do take politics seriously but try not to do so too seriously.
Sue, by now you have survived your root canal. From my experience the more recently trained doctors perform these procedures in MUCH less time and do a better job. Hope that is the case with you. Like CJ, I have had several done and all been successful.
CJ- glad you enjoyed the baking show so much! Yes its better when things are not so competetive and nasty, when the event seems to be fun. Hope you are enjoying your reading and the Hallmark movies.
Phyl- good luck on your retreat!! Hope that your regimen of tylenol with Ibuprophen works for you well. I was told to take that after some extensive dental work and I was very comfortable. Have a great time when you go away. Will you be gone for long?
Busy day.....things start to slow down a little bit tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good evening Ginny

Hi everyone, It has been a busy day getting odds and ends done. Janet was released from the hospital today and is now back at her care home. I have watched the election results some but they are pretty much as expected and I am not going to get bent out of shape over it.
phyl, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. take care.
Now I am going to bed with my book. I will catch up with you tomorrow,
Good night.

Janet was in the hospital? Well I'm glad to hear she's been released and is back at her care home. Yes there's not much we can do about the results. Sure stinks that it looks as though the dems are taking over the house. My state did not contribute to that. We have only one congress person. I don't care for her at all but wouldn't vote for the opposition. I have no idea how she is as a congressperson but she beats having the opposite party in there. I met her grandfather several times and he was a very nice man.
I was about to give up on these headbands. I did decide to rip out the whole thing and do it in regular hdc instead of post stitches. It will be much easier. I hope anyway. I started over twice and finally realized what I was doing wrong. I was adjusting the size and didn't allow for enough stitches for the second side of the tree.
Well get a good rest everyone.
