Well maybe talking a lot annoys the teachers but it sounds like Devin has leadership skills so that's a good thing. I do hope that they get the fires out soon and the smoke goes away. It can't be very good for your health to be breathing in all that. Who knows what chemicals are in the smoke.

Good point Ruth! With entire homes being burned, who knows what is in that smoke, and obviously stuff that was never meant to be burned. Meg, Devin is at that wonderful age when he is becoming even more socially active....so while its not a good thing that he talks too much, at least he is sociable! So many young kids become sullen, and those are usually the ones you have to watch out for. Glad to hear that Devin is not one of them. Good thing that Meg got out to get her groceries also, it must be depressing to travel around home and places you know well and see nothing but the haze of smoke. I heard on the national weather this am that relief is coming to California next week- hope that means some gentle rain to help put out the fires.
I laugh when I read how Ruth and Meg characterize themselves, as though they just occasionally pick up a crochet hook or knitting needles. Meg usually has 2 or 3 afghans going and Ruth usually has multpile projects in the works, while she is actively investigating her next project, or two....or three....
Bad storm here last night. Schools are closed.( I was supposed to substittute drive this am). Think I will go back to working on my quilting homework in a little bit. I got most everything cut out last night.
Take care Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all who come in or look in later. sorry you had that storm in the night Ginny. I'm sure all the kids are happy with getting a long weekend off. Unfortunately with the school closings so early there may end up being too many and they will then have to make up the days which they won't like. At least you get to be home and work on your homework and other projects.
Yes I definitely have a lot of half made projects lying around.I've been planning of finishing all those baby blankets that need edging and thought I was getting better at edging then made that afgan for dgs and the edging wasn't good at all so that discouraged me plus I decided to do the beginning of the year birthday projects first to make sure they got done.
Well it hasn't snowed here yet like dh said they had forecast. In fact it's 47 degrees according to my thermometer but it's very windy so I'm glad I got my errand done yesterday.

Earlier this morning it was raining. It's almost noon now, and it's snowing. This is one of those strange days where the temperature keeps dropping ... to 11 tonight for a low and 7 tomorrow night. So snow is heading your direction, Ruth! I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere this weekend!
I am normally more of a blabber! And I likely will be again! I'm a little preoccupied with my Monday deadline and finding the missing forms I need. Right now I'm procrastinating. I'm good at that, too!
The woofers aren't very happy with the weather today, and three of them are snuggled up on my lap. Fortunately for them, I can do lots of the things I need to do while sitting in my recliner. As long as the woofers are happy!

Good afternoon,
Giving my back a break after using that heavy as all dickens carpet steamer. Happy with how it worked once I got the hang of it. I did get all my squares assembled this am for the table runner. Need to top stitch and applique stitch them....and then am almost done with the homework. Pretty happy with the squares, lets hope I do not mess up. Think I will save the sewing work for tomorrow or another day.
Sue- totally ok to be a blabber here. THey have not thrown me off the board for excessive blabbing. Ha ha ha....hope you have found all the forms you need for Monday. Think we all understand how very frustrating that can be. Hope you can motivate yourself to get everything done a little bit early so you do not have to worry about it.
Ruth you get an amazing amount of crochetting done and I am in awe of how much you accompllish, even if you have several uncompleted projects. Glad you avoided the snow....it just makes things less messy.
Gotta help Dd with an errand. GInny

Ginny, I'm sure it feels great to have the carpet all cleaned esp since the holidays are coming up.
Sue you were right. It did start snowing here and is still coming down. i don't know how much we'll end up with but it is to be warmer starting Monday so I don't think it will last
Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving? I can't believe it's only a few days away. I know we talked about this the other day but suddenly it's almost here.I thought of CJ the other day when I was looking at grocery ads. They had a sale on turkey breast and I thought it was the one CJ mentioned that she liked to get.I would say that it's a pretty sure thing that we aren't going to get a turkey for this Thanksgiving.
I did get a couple rows done on the headband/earwarmer I'm working on. This is a very simple pattern and should take no more than a couple hours at the most but I'm sure dragging it out. I still have time until the time I usually go to sleep (or start trying to) but I'm kind of tired and did actually fall asleep a couple times while sitting on the couch reading.
See you all tomorrow

Good morning!! Ruth, whose headband/earwarmer are you working on? Do you have a recipient for it- what color yarn? Think we have all had that happen, sitting down to work on a project and just not finishing it for some reason. You have all your Christmas gifts done right??
Still have a few items to pick up for Thanksgiving, but most of my shopping is done for the big meal. I think...ha ha ha. I will pick up my turkey on tuesday, and the other last minute items then. Plan on getting to the store when they open so there will be no lines.
Going to a craft fair today with DD#2 and DH, plus a few other errands while we are out. Our big snow from yesterday (almost 10 inches ) should partly melt today.

The high today will be 24. The temperature is currently 16. The dogs' outside water dish is frozen solid. This is a four dog lap morning!
I'm having my first cup of coffee, and then I will be back to work on my paper shuffling. No luck on finding the missing forms yet.
Yesterday on my short break, I ordered a few quilting, crochet and crafty books/patterns. Incentive!
We had about 6-8" of snow. More is forecast for next weekend.

Ginny, I didn't realize you got that much snow. I guess the roads are all plowed now since you're going out. Craft fairs are so much fun. I'd go to the one at a local shopping center if I knew when it was. Have a great time. Craft fairs really can give you some great ideas on things to make and also some on crafts to do with the grandchildren plus sometimes people sell things for a very low price and you can do some Christmas shopping. Of course then there are other things that are super expensive and probably need to be due to the cost of materials.
Rene, all those things are just so cute and inventive. Plus that Woot site also has a crochet section so, of course I have to go there and it did remind me that I really need to make my 16 month old dggd that sleep time doll for Christmas.
Ginny, no my Christmas presents are not all made yet but they aren't essential either. I want to make the above mentioned doll yet and maybe either earwarmers and a cowl or infinity scarf (what is the difference between the two?) for the 18 year old dgd. I don't give many gifts but I do still have to make a few of the travel mug cozies.Maybe a ear warmer for my sil and dgs. Not sure yet but none of those things will take long so I don't feel pressured by them
The ear warmer I'm making now is for my oldest dgd in Indiana. She's the one that sent me the links for the two she likes best. I made one and sent it with the birthday presents...recent box I mailed... and ddil posted a pic of the dgd wearing it and what a smile on her face...she loved it and I wasn't sure she would like the colors..it was just a test one to see if she liked the style after she actually had one and she did so I'm making more for her and some for her sisters as they will want some too now that they've seen hers and I can't send things just for one...well I could but I don't
Heard too from the young friend I made the prayer shawl for and she loves that too. Well she's 45 but to me that's young.

Ruth- how is your friend (prayer shawl) feeling??
Rene- another adorable idea!!! Thanks. What are you crafting these days or are you just looking? (Which is just fine by me).
Craft fair was incredible. We thought it might be small, and it was huge. So many vendors and great ones too! Lots of inspiration.....

Whoop dee do!
I found the missing forms. All of them! I am very, very happy because that means I will be able to finish, probably by dinner time. It would help if the dogs would go sit on their blankets, instead of me!
My appointment is Tuesday, not Monday. I might as well continue and finish the job because a part 2 and part 3 are waiting for me. I don't think they have missing information though and I have more time for the rest.
Amazon has a variety of round doilies. Paper craft has smaller doilies 31/2 " and 4 and 5", as well as larger ones. This is probably something there might be a template (Cricut) for if anyone has the machine.

Hi everyone,
I am staying home today. I did go to my Knit Wits gp yesterday and it was good to get out with other crafters. So today I have been crafting by checking out patterns on the computer and printing out patterns. Though I am more interested in checking out color combinations for b/blankets. I do want to make an afghan for DD but it wont be ready for Christmas unless I work at it 24X7. I was going to have her home this afternoon but that didn't work out. But she will come home for thanksgiving.
Ruth, of course Devin's teacher finds his talking annoying she has 36 kids in her class. I have threatened to put tape over his mouth when he goes to school or maybe I should go over and help her after all I spent years working with kids. Sorry you lost your post. When that happens to me I never feel like rewriting it so I take a break.
Ginny, I have several UFOs I am determined to finish. I have 2 b/blankets that I just have to sew ends in and give them a wash. But I am anxious to work on something different, bright and colorful. Keeps me from getting bored with what I am working on. I hope you are surviving the snow and staying warm.
Sue, I am glad you found the papers you were looking for. I hate filling out forms.
Rene and phyl, I hope all is well with you.
Have a good evening.
cj, I think that this seasons Poldark ends tomorrow night so we had better get tuned in. Of course you will have the British Baking show to watch.

good happy sunday morning,
welcome to the crafting thread rene
friday's quilt road trip was alot of fun.we went to one shop in mn about 40 miles from here.was only going to spend about 13 dollars for a yard of fabric. walked out spending about 27.00.just before we left I saw this turkey table runner that is so cute. waiting for the company to email me the pattern.
nita and barbara bought stuff there also.then it was onto postville ia. good thing we went friday. they got 4 inches of snow yesterday.I had not been to this shop in alot of years.
they had cats and a dog that would welcome you.course the ones I remember from years ago are gone.now they have a gray and black and white kitties. the black and white one is the friendliest..
I got my kitty loves.
nita and barabara bought fabric there.
I did not buy anything from this shop.this shop has always been so disorganized. they have shelves with fabric. tables with fabric piled on top of each other. more stuff then I remember from before.
I would hate to be it there if a fire broke out.
the ladies are very nice.
then it was onto decorah iowa. I did not have much luck there. love this shop.I bought a yard of small snowman fabric. nita did not find anything. barbara hit the jackpot. she found fabric for wants to make.
we had lunch at happy joe's. we left at 9 and was back a little after 4.
I was hoping to have some friends over for christmas luncheon. will have to wait till after christmas.
I want to use the snowman fabric to make book marks for when the girls come.phyl
