hi, I did look at pat sloan's december blocks. I agree they are busy blocks.
the churn dash block do look better with a fabric scene in the middle.
also I think on the outside a smaller print or tone on tone print would look better on some of the blocks made.
I may not have nathans quilt done by the time we go to ky in december. that's ok.things are getting to busy.
today I think we will have lunch at home.
wi friday am. down 1.2 pounds. only took me since oct 26th. friday's lunch and yesterday at sam's club has put me up.
we were tasting sample's at sam's club. have their holiday food tasting thing this weekend. only thing we thought was good was the sample of chicken pot pie.
we got a sample of pumpkin pie.the lady standing next to me said hers was better, homemade. I also said homemade does not have chemicals in it either.
have a good sunday. phyl

choney2, just ideas. The tree thing, I know you can get the paper doilies in foils and colors, I think they'd be cute ornaments for kids to make for grandparents, etc

Well I've spent the whole day so far fixing my computer. Went through all the tools available until the last which was a refresh your computer tool and it supposedly saved all info except apps. Wll I lost my whole bookmarks including about two million patterns which I spent al day yhesterday organizing. They imported bookmarks from old IE but not the ones I had on Chrome (((((((( And the reason I was organizing my patterns yesterday was because I had seen a really nice hat pattern that was made in Caron simply soft strawberry and also a yarn called times square. I didn't have the yarn so ordered it. Well the yarn came and no pattern to be found. Searched all thru patterns while organizing them all...never did find the pattern and now all seem to be lost. I have to see if I can get them from my tablet but I'm sure I can't because it has entirely different bookmarks for some reason. Everything else on it seems to be associated with my laptop but of course not my bookmarks with those patterns that I really want to recover. Also many other things I had in bookmarks. It did save all my pictures so I'm grateful for that. Sorry I'm so self absorbed today.

Hey, Ruth, we all have those days in which chatting about oneself or the woes you are living with is ok. (Ya’all would have tossed me out to the trash heap months ago if being self absorbed was a criteria for being kicked out of the thread). You save a lot of patterns, have a lot of projects in progress or lined up to be accomplished. So losing everything would be heartbreaking. From what you have shared, you were very well organized with your digital copies of projects. I really hope that the projects you want to take on, somehow the pattern is easy to find. (Lord knows we all know how that goes!). Not sure how your computer works, but you can, or at least used to, restore your computer to an earlier date. Perhaps that will work for you and somehow those patterns are not lost. Also try googling the problem. Others must have encountered this issue before and perhaps there is a simple fix. Phy- sounds like you had a great day fabric shopping! How did you resist buying? What kind of quilt are you making for Nathan? Are you heading to KY for Christmas? Congrats on losing!! This time of year can be challenging to stay on program. And free samples at Sam’s do not help! Rene, I will have to check out some stores for the different doilies. Might be spending time with the grandkids on Friday- and they LOVE to craft. The doily Christmas tree looks like an easy project for little hands. Meg- so glad you got to knit wits. What I have heard is that some showers are headed your way mid next week. Might not make for the prettiest THanksgiving, but I am sure residents of your area will be very thankful for some gentle rain to help the firemen. Thought of you yesterday at the craft fair. One vendor had newborn sized crochetted baby afghans for $25. They were very pretty- not a really difficult pattern to make. $25 covers the amount of yarn for sure, but means that the crochetter is paid pennies per hour to make an afghan. How sad. CJ- hope your day is going well and that you are having a good weekend. Last night, Dd and I watched the movie on the Hallmark channel. (With Kellie Pickler). ITs the first HC movie I thought was bad. Dd agreed. Oh well. Pastors wife has given me a ton of inspiration to make quilt as you go pot holders as Christmas gifts. Might just try that.... just what I needed another project! Figured out my appllique stitch last night and am ready to proceed finishing off the squares for the table runner. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today DotRen - Thanks so much for the crafting links. I love those doily trees. Sure would have liked to had that idea when I was a Girl Scout leader a million years ago Ruth - I'm sorry you lost all those patterns, wonder if they are out there in cyberspace or somewhere still on your computer? Meg - I haven't enjoyed this season of Poldark as much, but I'm looking forward to the season finale tonight. Hopefully it will wrap up some storylines. Phyl - Your trips to the quilt stores sound like fun. Ginny - I'm glad to hear your class project is coming along well. Sue - Hope your weather is a bit warmer and that you enjoy the new craft books you ordered. The weather here this weekend has been nice and sunny, if a bit cool in the 40-50s. I didn't have to go out anywhere so it was nice to stay home and relax. I made another one of the Applesauce Raisin snack cakes this morning and I've been enjoying that. There was a car accident on the road in front of my house yesterday and I was just hoping they didn't hit my new mailbox that I'd put up, but thankfully they didn't. They did leave all their car parts and pieces of plastic from tail lights all over my driveway and in front of my house. I had to go out there this morning and pick up the larger pieces and then sweep the smaller ones. I got most of it done, but some of the small pieces I had to leave. I always worry about driving over those things and getting a flat tire. Here's a link to Kathy's Slow Stitch Blog for anyone that likes to check the blogs she links up: kathysquilts.blogspot.com/Take care everyone!

Ruth, take your computer to a computer technician or have one come to your house. I had upgraded or added something, and all my photos and patterns disappeared. He was able to restore all my files.
I went into town to fill hb's prescription for his eye drops. The store was very crowded with Thanksgiving shoppers. I bought a few things so I won't have to shop again until the end of the week when everyone will be out looking for bargains. The supermarkets shouldn't be crowded!
hb is sleeping, but he has the remote in his hand. I would like to turn off the TV! I missed the Golden Girls when the show was first on. Laughed the first time I saw it. Now this must be the tenth time or more. Sigh!
This morning, the temperature was about fifteen degrees. There's snow in the yard, but the streets in town were completely clear. Next snow should be next weekend.

Sue, thanks for the suggestion but those computer people charge an arm and a leg to do that sort of thing...or anything...so instead of tossing my money away I'll just have to live with the loss.
I even had to create a new password to get in here.

I did that too, Ginny, twice. Each time after it said it was finish I then got a message that the restore didn't finish. At one point it said it may be because of a anti virus program running. So I closed that but next time it wouldn't do it either

Just tried it again...no success. I did send my ds an email to ask about it. He knows all about computers. That's what he does. He does hardware as well as software. I haven't heard back from him so they were probably at church. They go in the morning and evening and do family things in between
