I had double ear piercings when I was 13 (so -long time ago lol). I stopped wearing earrings when my son was born - 28 years ago. One of them has healed over and I can't shove an earring through, and there is no "lump" of scar tissue there either. It was never straight, the back and front didn't line up, so it was always difficult to put earrings in. So I'm thinking of having that one re-pierced, but I'm not sure lol. Funny story, when I had mine done at 13, my great-grandmother had hers done at the same time. She said if I could handle it, so could she

Yes. I actually had an ear lobe repair done when I had my face/necklift done. I had holes that were still there but were too low and had almost pulled through. They were so low that I could not wear anything without my ear turning under and I was worried it would pull through.
The surgeon opened up the holes and then stitched them together. Once they had healed several months later, he re-pierced my ears. It all went well. From what you have said you might not need the repair part and might be able to just get the ear pierced again.

I have recently been thinking about this since I have started wearing my hair shorter and you can actually see my earlobes. I too stopped wearing earrings when my son was born - 33 years ago. Mine do have scar tissue though. I can feel bumps in there. I wonder if it is still possible.
I wouldn't even know where to go to have it done now.

I still have my second and third ear piercing holes open and able to get earrings in but I never wear earrings in them anymore. The fourth holes closed up. I only occasionally think to wear earrings in the first holes! Mostly just being lazy. I am thinking of getting my fifth hole re-pierced just for fun. It was the cartilage hole.

I had mine repierced and I don't know...I think I just got tired of changing earrings so much I let them grow closed again.

I got a second pierce in one ear along with my sisters when I was around 20 or so. It's still open but I seldom wear earring.

I'm sure mine have closed, can't remember when I last wore earrings.
My mom made me get my ears pierced when I was 12, because we were Civil War re-enactors and women in the 1860's wore earrings, so I had to be authentic.
That's also why I was never allowed to cut or dye my hair.
So as an adult, I color my hair and don't wear earrings.
Also not good with my job.

My daughter's had closed, I took a sterile needle and opened it. My mom got her ears pierced after me, she lost some very expensive earring because it had a screw back

If you need a repair you can go to a plastic surgeon for that. Just re-pierce wouldn't need that. But if you want to close up existing holes you do. And if you need to remove scar tissue you might need it as well.

Kitty , Ugh, that sounds like entirely too much work. Especially since I'd probably get tired of wearing earrings after a couple of months. Does anybody know of a painless way to wear earrings for unpierced ears? I inherited some of my grandmother's screw-back earrings. That must have been a painful time for women.

hallian, they make little silicone disks that are supposed to help cushion clip on earrings. Maybe those would work for screw-backs, too. I think Claire's carries them, I'm sure amazon does lol.

There is still a Claire's here at the local mall. I called them and the woman I spoke to said to pop by the next time I'm there and they can feel my ear and let me know if they can re-do it (scar tissue). She said if there's just a little hardness and no lump, it will work. I may run by there if I go to the mall to finish Christmas shopping this week. Editing to add I ran across this explanation about why repiercing is sometimes a problem and it's pretty in-depth: repiercing Q&A

DotRen, that's cute about your grandma. I got mine pierced at about 8 or 9 years old. I asked for them done after my childhood friend had hers done. She was 1 year older than me. I remember she got angry at me for being a copy cat. I rarely wear earrings, but have a lot of them. I only have one hole per earlobe. I'm a little rough on myself, so when I do finally put in a pair I manage to get them in, but with a little injury. Not long ago I bought 14 carrot gold studs that would be comfortable to keep in all of the time, even when sleeping. The idea was good, but one day my pet parrot crushed the one ball with his strong beak (it was a hollow gold ball) and that was that.

I'm sorry if it wasn't meant to be funny.
DotRen, Thanks for your info about Claire's. Maybe I can check them out. The bumps in my lobes aren't bad. I can just feel them in there.
