Good evening!!
Well today just ended up being a lot different than I thought it would be....all is well or at least will be when Dd arrives home safely.
CJ- thanks SO much for the reminder about the GABS! I was just reading the posts...and read that it was on tonight. So its on now, and I am DVR’ing it for when Dd can watch. You are much more organized than I am, its a very good idea keeping a written track of what you have in the freezer.
Rene, thanks for the funny video! I started watching it, and will finish doing so in the morning.....I am tired now and want to relax watching the GABS.
Meg, indeed for you that is awesome gift, wireless headphones.Hope you are enjoying your books.
Sue, did you get a rest in?? Glad the potluck was fun and yummy too!
Ruth, Hungry girl has some great recipe ideas- even better for you that there were some gluten free muffin recipes! Glad you got one headband done. And you know? Noone but you will notice a small mistake....don’t worry about it.
Ended up babysitting at Dd’s house cause DGS and DGD #2 were sick. Sometimes I can get an hour off with both of them napping- that did not happen today. THe kids were not horribly sick but under the weather for sure. A long day....
Got some more cards written this evening. Little by little it gets done. Ginny

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear tht the grandchildren are sick.the poor littlest one was just sick ..what...a week ago? I hope you get rested and are able to sleep well tonight.
CJ, what a nice gift. It's nice when family knows and remembers your likes and dislikes and your hobbies and gets gifts accordingly. You're going to love working on that quilt. It's VERY nice.
Went down to the mailbox earlier. The wind was blasting and when I got home it ripped the car door right out of my hands. Good thing the hinges are strong. Then I tried to walk from the car across the driveway to where I would be sheltered by the house itself while walking to the front door and could hardly make it there. I had to hold onto the two cars to avoid falling just from wind alone.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Rene - Thanks a lot, now I want to eat a bag of marshmallows Seriously though, that video was so funny Thanks for sharing it. His knitting looks like some of the projects I've started. Ginny - I have to keep lists and calendars for everything. I even have a calendar I keep for TV shows I want to watch Hope you can get some more done today. Ruth - It sounds really windy there! We've had a few windy days here where I felt like I was going to be knocked over. Hope you get nicer weather this weekend. I fell asleep around the last 30 minutes of the baking show last night, so I don't know who won and who was eliminated. I saw that I can watch the show online, so I'll try to catch it there. I did enjoy what I saw though. It's cloudy here and we're getting rain for almost the whole weekend. I don't need to go out anywhere so I'll probably just stay in and stay dry. Hope you all have a great weekend!

speaking of marshmallows, I have a bunch I need to do something with. Guess I'll find something to use them for to take to whatever home we're going to do Christmas in. Cj, I hope you don't get too much rain and I'm glad you're going to be able to stay in and not have to get wet and cold. The wind is really blasting again today so hopefully there will be a little lull so I can go to the mailbox again and see if dh's meds are there. I did do one more headband last night. It's a pattern that I thought would be perfect to go with the mountainland scarf so I thought I'd make one wwith other yarn first to see how it looked and it isk indeed, perfect for that so I'll make one in the same yarn as the scarf today. And I do still have the two little pom poms to make and the putting together of that doll. I'll sure be glad to have that done and I'm sure you all will be glad when you don't have to hear about it anymore I do hate making poms so now I'm wondering if I could just knot the end of the drawstring and fray the ends so that it looks like fringe...hmmm. I'll give that a try.I don't want to put beads on the ends or anything that would be a choking hazard. That's one of the concerns I had about the pompoms. I did all my weaving in of ends on the "guys" ear and neck warmers. Also at some point today I'm hoping to start on a couple cards at least. I got one in the mail yesterday...the one from dh's sister who I mentioned before and yes, even though we haven't heard from her since her card last year, she made no indication of how she or the rest of the family back there are,, Just the usual " I hope this card finds you happy and well" And she knows her brother is not well but didn't ask. I hope you all have a good day and get to do some fun things as well as completing anything that needs completing so that it's off your mind and you can relax and enjoy the season

Happy Friday all!!
Cj- I was unable to find your quilt kit.....but that is such a thoughtful gift and I know you will LOVE making it. SO very sweet and kind of your brother and his wife to give that to you. You must be itching to start. I too fell asleep before the end of the GABS, but had it on DVR, as DD was not home. So I do not know who was eliminated either!
Ruth, go ahead and give that a try-making a fringe instead of a pom pom. Pom poms can fall apart too, so a fringe might just be the best option. Were you able to get any cards in the mail?
Rene- later on I hope to get to that video. Sure sounds funny.
Got a call to go into work at 5:15 this am, which I ignored. This am I finished, I think, all the Christmas cards. Many had something written in them- so this was no small feat. Got them in the mail too. Then I wrapped most of what we had in the house for gifts. After that Dh bellyached that he was bored...perhaps NEXT TIME he could try helping?! We did get out shopping, got a few more gifts....and I am approaching being done. WIth so much wrapping done, next week might be a bit more quiet. Thankfully Dh’s rotten mood is gone for now. Got no quilting done today. Perhaps later on this evening. Ginny

Ginny, good that you ignored that 5 am call. You have plenty to do without going out driving on top of it. I'm so glad your dh is feeling better. And congrats on getting cards done...at least some. I haven't got to mine yet but it was planned for evening anyway and it's just 4:25 here right now. I did work on the earwarmer to go with that scarf. It's so easy that it goes fast. First I couldnt find the yarn but thankfully I did find it. Did some cooking and cleaning too so that took away my crochet time. I didn't work on the craft room at all.

Ruth, for the ear warmer are you using the same yarn you used for the scarf? Are you using the same exact yarn or one that matches really well. (Forgive me, I forget)>Sounds like you did not have to flip the entire house to find the yarn, again a good thing. Wha a pain it is when it seems to take forever to find a craft supply that you KNOW you have. The earwarmer pattern sounds really nice, working up quickly and looking great. I would love to consider making one myself, but gee I barely have time to take on the projects I have! As far as cards go, when you get there you get there, and some years I have gotten very few out! The only bad thing about missing or not sending cards is then folks wonder if everything is ok, especially is you always send cards. As far as finishing up in the craft room, well winter is here for awhile, and I guess there is plenty of time for that. That is the one thing I like about winter, is there is time for crafting....I am not a big fan of gardening, and would rather sew than weed.
So last night I did get to work on quilted potholders. Think Dh had something on TV I was not interested in so I retreated to my craft area, actually got some sewing done. I found a super simple pattern for a 9 patch square with a border- easy enough- and that is quilted into a pot holder. I am just winging it based upon what I saw, and hope they come out ok. I want to make 4- one as the prototype (which I will keep and hopefully make all my mistakes on). The other 3 will be gifts. Got part way into the construction of the first 9 patch square and Dh came to tell me that Dd and her fiancee were here. So I had to stop all my fun and go sit with them. Looks like today we will be visiting a catering hall to get the ball rolling.
Enough babbling from me. Hope everyone has a great Saturday. Ginny

It sounds as if your dd plans to have the wedding sooner than you had hoped if she's already looking at catering and halls. I'm glad you had time to work on your gifts before your dd and her fiance came. They sound very pretty and I know they'll turn out great. My ddil had some potholders her aunt that quilts made for her and they're fantastic. She actually uses them. If it were me I'd have them in a safe place so they stayed nice. Dh is always mentioning my saving things. Yep, for the future? Not much future left so might as well use them at my age.. Oh and that reminds me of cards...yes if I don't send some people a card they'll think I'm dead....just being realistic. I have some friends that are way older than even me so I often wonder if I'm going to have a card returned because that person is not longer alive. Yes I did use the same yarn. And it was right practically on the top of one of the stacks of yarn I still have in m living room. Good thing Christmas is not going to be celebrated by all the family here. And truly, Ginny, this war warmer takes about 30 minutes. You can't possibly go wrong with this one.Would make a great gift for someone for a stocking stuffer or coworker or something like that because they'd think you went to to a lot of trouble and time to make it. It doesn't take much yarn either. It hardly made a dent in my skein of whatever that yarn was that we got at Michael's.. Loops and threads Barcelona I think. And yes I almost picked up the wrong one because I have others of the same yarn that is close to that same color but luckily I found the exact matching one. No I didn't get cards ready yet because I'm looking for a particular one and can't find it...story of my life. I searched last night but didn't find it so will search again today and if I can't find it I'll go to plan b...plans B are a great thing to have

Quiet day here!!
Ruth, congrats on getting those Christmas cards done. That loops and threads Barcelona yarn is so pretty. Ok, so I will ask....what pattern are you using for the ear warmer? You know me, its gotta be easy or I cannot handle it!!!
Have had several discussions with Dd about all the normal wedding stuff. Number of bridesmaids and buffet or sitdown dinner were the main discussions....its her day, will be interesting what her decision is. My future SIL seems willing to go with what she desires. Let the fun begin!
Got a little more work done on potholders. Now time to frame the 9 patch squares with a border and make the quilt sandwich. THis is going pretty easy. Hope they come out well.
Happy Sunday all Ginny

Lost my other post somehow. Ginny yes planning for a wedding involves so much work and so many decisions. Not only how many bridesmaids but who will they be. Wedding gown, shoes, veil, other hair things, dresses for bridesmaids, hair stylist, the clothing for the groom and ushers and the parents. Flowers, photographer.honeymoon plans, etc, etc, etc. Will she have your grandchildren as flower girl and ring bearer? The very easy headband I'm making is in what she calls tulip stitch. Oh and I didn't put the flower on the earwarmer. What do you all think? Add it or not?. Here's the link decaturcreations.com/2017/12/tulip-stitch-headband-earwarmer/I've pretty much finished everything now but the two things for dggd and dh is sleeping right now in the room with the yarn for that so it will have to wait till later. I found some more ends that needed weaving in and got those done.So I'm nearly finished. I'm not good at sewing on parts so thats why I keep procrastination on the little hood and the doll. I do remember when Ginny asked if I was done with Christmas things and I said I wasn't going to do any. Well you see what happened. I decided that I did need to do a couple anyway and that turned into more than I thought. I do think that I might do some more headband/earwarmers to take over on Christmas in case there's anyone else there that I want to give a gift to or to give the girls a chance to exchange the one I wrap for each for one they might like better. I still haven't heard back from Lion brand about my missing order. I've sent them two previous emails and another today. Haven't heard a thing. A friend on another thread said I should contact my credit card company but I don't know how they would handle that when I did receive part of the order just not the whole thing. Plus they've probably already given Lion the money. I know they charged my account for all of it.

Ruth, I would call Lion Brand if all you have done so far is email. They have been running a lot of specials and are probably overwhelmed by holiday shopping. Not sure if they offer a customer service number through their web site. Sometimes you have to really search to find a phone number. Perhaps even try calling the outlet in Carlsadt NJ- they might have a customer service # that they can give you. Honestly, I think that they are unmanned on the weekend, so that is why you got no response over the weekend. As far as the headband, if you are making it with that loops and threads barcelona, that yarn is a real show stopper and its variegated. Therefore I would not make the flower. Just my opinion though. Its a really pretty pattern !
No decisions yet regarding the bridal party. Our DSIL to be also has some young nieces and nephews- do not know how they will resolve the bridesmaids/groomsmen issue. Yes lots of decisions ahead...been through this before and I know that Dd will make them independant of most of what I say.
Got a little time in on the snowman ornament. I hope to have that done by Friday so I can hang it on DD’s tree.
Monday again tomorrow. Wow, time flies Ginny

Time sure does fly. Time for another thread already.
No I didnt expect to get a response from the one I sent this morning but I did send the first one just under two weeks ago. I'll call them if I don't hear anything by Tuesday. Thanks for reminind me and I do think they have a number on their site. I just hate to talk on the phone because of my bad hearing.
I'm glad you are able to work on the snowman. I'm sure you'll have it done by Friday. It's a busy week coming up but all too fast the whole thing is over and all our work is for just a few minutes of gift opening and maybe for some a dinner.
Ginny, I was thinking the same thing and I agree. In the pictures she has the main part of the flower the same color as her earwarmer so you can't see it well anyway. I think she just did it to cover her seam. They do have some great videos on how to make the seam look good
Later today I decided to start another earwarmer in the arrow stitch and work on that until dh woke up. I didn't realize how complicated that is. I watched a couple youtubes but they were not good ones at all so finally found a written patter to follow so we'll see how it goes. Now that it's 8pm I think I'll force myself to work on those two uncompleted items and leave the headband for another day.
