Good evening.
Ruth, why am I not surprised that you are taking on a new project! Were you able to find a cup cozy that will work for the stainless cups ? I hope that Friday is not a bad day for shopping, I would think that if you went early enough (avoiding being out later in the afternoon) that it should be fine. Hard to believe that Christmas is only a few days away.
CJ- bet it feels awesome getting everything mailed out! At this point, with the postmark being well before Christmas, its pretty safe to think that most of your cards/gifts will arrive on time. Good idea to get the cars serviced before the weather gets too winter like. Thanks for the reminder on the GABS tomorrow night!
Sue, how is Dh’s mouth feeling after his dental work? How lovely that your caregiver did your holiday decorating! think we all know its a lot of work to put up and take down, but sometimes the decorations are comforting.
Phyl, sounds like you had a really nice trip. Bet its nice to be home though. Hope that Nathan loved his football!!
Meg- whatever you decide to do with the afghan, I am sure it will be beautiful. I watch a lot of those Hallmark movies also, and yes everything is perfect and we all know that life is hardly perfect. For me, I do not want to be reminded of the burdens of life at the end of the day, so a pleasant movie works well for me. Hope you are sleeping well and feeling good.
Worked a little bit on a potholder today. Been busy with some shopping- tomorrow I will be working, babysitting, taking the cat to the vet (again) and I have a routine BP check. The cat did not eat much at all today..she did eat pretty well the day before. Its heartbreaking. She is a sweet little kitty- I am not optimistic. Wish this did not have to happen right before Christmas.
Better get some sleep as I am working tomorrow morning. G

hello Phyl and Ginny. I didn't look back on the other page so hopefully I'm not missing anyone.
Phyl, I havent been to Wendy's in probably 4 years, maybe more. I do love fast food but don't get out to eat often.
Ginny, you are one busy person I'm glad you got to work on the potholder some. Did you get the ornament finished? No I couldn't find a pattern for that type cup. I probably could just start one the size of the smaller bottom part and increase to have it fit the top but I thought I might be able to find a really nice one in some kind of stitch pattern not just plain sc, dc or whatever. There are 12 altogether to do so I might just forget the whole thing and give just the plain travel mugs. They don't come with handles so I thought a "cozy" would be a good thing though.I asked on the crochet group on fb but only one person responded and she didn't have a pattern.
It doesn't feel at all like Christmas, It's been too warm. It's supposed to be cooler though starting on Saturday.Maybe then the wind will calm down

I may organize a volleyball game! The weather is disconcerting. The forecast says five days with snow starting Sunday, but that could change.
hb's mouth is fine. He says he hasn't had any pain. I'm fixing soft foods that don't require much chewing.
This morning is quilting, always a delightful interlude.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - is that one of those $40 potholders Sorry to hear about your cat, I hope things get better. Ruth - Hope your weather gets more "Christmas-like". Sue - Enjoy the quilting and the volleyball. Phyl - I'm sure the people you sent cards to will enjoy getting them at any time. Meg - Hope you are enjoying some crafting and reading. I went out and finished the last of my shopping today so I don't have to go out before Christmas now if I don't want to. It's nice to be able to stay off the road with all the shoppers and travelers out. The weather here today is cold and wet, in the 40s. But through tonight and into tomorrow morning the temps are going to rise through the 50s to 60 degrees, with lots of wind and rain. I always find it strange when the temps go up in the night. Tomorrow is my trash pickup day but I've decided not to push the larger container to the road this week. I worry about the wind turning it over and I sure don't want to have to pick up a bunch of spilled trash. Take care everyone!

Ginny, I hope you get a good report on your BP and hope your kitty is ok.
Sue, enjoy quilting. When I went to Caps for kids they never had meetings in Nov or Dec but I think they should because it's always fun to get together with people who have similar interests at Christmas time.
CJ, there's been many a time when I or my dh has had to chase the bin down the street. I think everyone here has a damaged bin from it being blown over.I'm glad to hear you have your shopping done and don't have to go out in the crowds. I'm wishing now that my dh and I had gone ahead and done the shopping yesterday.I'm already dreading having to go out Tuesday.
Well I was thinking of not bothering to put the doll together but I did it today. I'm sure not an expert in putting stuffed things together but at least it's sturdy because there was a lot of sewing involved to keep the head from being wobbly. Now I just have to do the eyes and if you saw the link I posted you can see that they are extremely simple. I want to make the doll a little blanket too since she's called "sleep baby" Now I have to decide on the mug cozies but since I want to get these things wrapped I probably won't bother with them.Or maybe I'll just take them without them being right on the cups...travel mugs
See y'all later

Good evening,
Ruth, well that resolved that issue- how and when to put together that adorable sleepy baby doll. Don’t know why, But I figured you had already put it together. The eyes do appear to be simple, they look like a seed stitch and a satin stitch or something like that. Indeed, that doll has a large head so I can understand why a lot of sewing was needed to attach it and keep it from being too wobbly.
CJ- so very happy for you that you can avoid the stores and the crazies now!! There is something so peaceful about being done- and now if you do go out you can enjoy the crowds and the insanity without any pressure. Hope you can stay dry and comfortable through this bad wet weather. Will you be watching the GABS tonight?
Sue- yes quilting is such a peaceful pleasure. There is something therapeutic about the hum of a machine and the process of creating something beautiful. Glad that Dh is feeling ok after his dental work. Hey, congrats on having a White Christmas- will you be staying home that day?
The ornament is not done. I did work on one potholder last night- and will work on it tomorrow evening. Had to babysit today- and took the cat to the vet. I have to start syringe feeding her- and she is on all kinds of medications now. We can only hope that they work- they are treating a likely cause of her problems, an infection in the gall bladder. Never ever thought I would have to care for a pet this way, but I will. This morning I worked too....tomorrow I babysit for the whole day. Sure glad its Friday!!
Phyl- Wendy’s is great- and they even have some good healthy options for food. Hey, you got your cards written....and they will be appreciated whenever they are recieved!
Have a good night all Ginny Hi To Meg and Rene and anyone else who stops in.

No I kept intending to put the doll together but almost convince myself to let it go completely but I was sitting there this morning, did the seam on dd's earwarmer and the doll was right there so I decided to go ahead and give it a try.
Poor kitty. I wonder how he's going to go for having you feed him with a syringe. And the meds he probably won't like either so good luck with getting them into him
Have a good day babysitting tomorrow.
Well we only have a very few days left till Christmas.I hope everyone has their shopping done

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and looking forward to the weekend I decided to live dangerously and put the trash container out last night. Fortunately we didn't get the high winds and heavy rain they predicted, it was much lighter so I didn't have any problems. I watched the finale of the Great American Baking Show last night and it was enjoyable. They made some pretty creations, much better than the show on Food TV this year. How is everyone doing with their Christmas preparations? I only have a few gifts left to give but I won't see those people until after Christmas. Otherwise, everything else is done. I'll bake a pan of Gingerbread on Christmas Eve (or Day), since I like to have that each year. I'm not sure what I'm fixing for dinner - I thought maybe an Italian pasta dish maybe. Take care everyone!

At dd’s babysitting and both kids are napping. DSIL finally got me on their Wifi, so it’s a treat posting. I actually have my feet up and am relaxing! What is that?
Ruth, glad u got the doll done! I give u credit for taking that project on, what language are those directions written in anyway? Now the only problem is I cannot see your posts on my phone while responding. I did see the weather and it looks like you will have a white Christmas. What are your plans? Will you and Dh be seeing Dd and her family?
CJ, glad you were spared the worst of this rain/wind system. It would have been a long week waiting till next weeks garbage pick up. Sounds like a peaceful Christmas for you! Do you have any special Christmas movies that you like to watch? Making gingerbread is a lovely tradition. Do you use an old family recipe?
I still have to locally go to the food store which I will do tomorrow am. Think I am maki g A small roast, perhaps some scallops, twice baked potato casserole and a vegetable for Christmas dinner. I hope not to fuss much, think it will be for Dh, myself, Dd and fiancée, Ds and perhaps his girlfriend. Sunday is my birthday and our family celebration (at dd#1’s House) is on the day after Christmas. And I will play flute at church Christmas Eve. It’s going to be a few busy days.
Tough going syringe feeding and medicating the cat. We are hoping that it’s a good guess that her issues are bacterial and not cancer. Even the vet said “ this cat does not look ready to die”. My BP was great ( thank you Lord) and the doctor just told me to keep on doing what I was doing, going for bloodwork in 2 months , so I do not have to be super careful through Christmas.
Gee this was a nice break! Have a good afternoon. Hope I can work on the pot holders later on. And no, CJ they are not the $40 variety!

I'm taking a break after grocery shopping and putting all the stuff away. The first store we went to was great. There weren't many people shopping there but the second one was crowded. We thought we didn't have much to buy but ended up buying a lot so that made for a lot of bag carrying into the house. Stopped at the mailbox because ds messaged that we should be getting a box from them today. Nope no box but a very beautiful Christmas card from a treasured friend. Then just now I checked my email and ddil send email mentioning the box and said to open it right away so I have no idea what's in it but I hope whatever it is is still ok by tomorrow. I don't know if the mailman had come for the day or if he still is to come but either way I'm not going back down there today.
Still haven't heard what the Christmas plans are. Guess I'll have to come out and ask dd. Since it will be at her or her oldest dd's house I thought they would let me know but you know how that worked on Thanksgiving. She let me know the day before and never did say that they were having it at dgd's house so we would have gone to the wrong place but we did stay home. Meals are always too late in the day for us because of that driving in the dark issue.
Ginny, so it sounds as though you'll be having a couple celebrations.I'm glad you're getting to sit with your feet up and rest while the little ones are napping and hope you'll get to work on your potholders. I'm glad your bp was good and I hope the dear kitty does have only a bacterial infection and is soon well.
Well better get the kitchen cleaned up so just will say that I hope everyone has a great day.

I made a trip into town this morning and stopped at the bank, picked up my other pair of glasses, picked up two prescriptions and met a friend for coffee. She is roughly the age of my daughters, but I find talking with her a barrel of laughs.
hb's caregiver has gone to Seattle for Christmas and will be gone for ten days. His class schedule will be different next semester, part very good, part not what I would choose. I would much rather adapt to his schedule than have to work with somebody else. After the flurry of appointments, things will be fairly quiet until after New Years.
We aren't going anywhere, and since we don't have relatives here, it's easier all the way around to just plan some quiet and calm days at home. One day near the end of next week, I'll have to pick up bread, fruit, veggies.
Tomorrow I'll bring out the radio/CD player and start playing some holiday music. Tonight I'm going to light some candles in celebration of the Winter Solstice! I'm glad the days will start getting longer tomorrow, but it's going to be winter here for many months!
A few days ago I tied a giant bird feeder to a pole on the back deck. The chickadees have already found it! We have both black capped and mountain chickadees. I'm glad they spend the winter here!

Good evening,
Ruth, did you ever hear from Lion Brand in response to your emails? Sorry that the much anticipated package was not in the mail- but it sounds as though there was something special in the mail for you anyway! Hope that your package is just a day away-and you get it tomorrow. Are you done shopping now?
Sue- I too just love watching the birds on the feeder! Chickadees are my favorite birds. So sweet and semi tame. Enjoy their daily antics....something nice to help our feathered friends and also entertain us. Will you be ok with Dh’s caregiver away for that long? I agree, once you have someone with whom you can easily work and communicate, its much more pleasant. Enjoy your candles and holiday music!
I am glad to be home and relaxing. Wish I had a few days just to chill out- but the next few days are busy.
Have a good night Ginny

Ginny, no I did call them yesterday but by the time the person who answered asked me all the questions needed to bring up my account on her computer and find that I needed to talk to customer service (I thought that's who I was speaking to already) she tried transferring me to them but they had left for the day and today with being out and then putting things away I didn't get to calling until after time for them to leave today again so will try for monday and see if they're in on Christmas Eve.
Sue I guess the caregiver needs time off too but I'm sure things are better when he's available. I'm with you on not wanting to change. The one you have now sounds like one everyone would be thrilled to have. I bet that's what we have coming to our feeded too is the black capped chickadees. They do have black on their heads.
Yes it sure does sound like your next few days are going to be busy, Ginny so enjoy this evening which is undoubtedly over by now and you're probably fast asleep.
Phyl, did you get all your shopping done yet
Hi to Meg and CJ..hope you're both having a good evening too although CJ probably is asleep by now too.

Good morning!
My fitbit told me i slept 8 hours last night. Guess I was that tired- a normal night for me is 6 hours 45 minutes
Ruth, how frustrating but at least you have a phone number that works for Lion Brand. I would think that they would be in for a partial day on Christmas Eve. Did they ever provide tracking information for the package? I know sometimes some companies do....some do not.
Getting a bit of a head cold. Hoping for a quiet day today. Think Dh and I are going for a walk, and I do have to get to the store for dinner supplies for Christmas dinner.
BBL Ginny
