Good morning
CJ- thanks for posting yesterday with the slow stitch Sunday and that pretty blue and tan afghan. You find the neatest projects to post here for us to see!!
I am tired and a bit weak but think the worst is over with. Dh has a bad upperrespiratory infection- which amazingly enough he took himself to the hospital for. (We have a small local hospital nearby). So far, its not the flu- and he does not have a fever at the moment. I am just glad he finally decided to get treatment (which he should have done 2 days ago).
So, it will be a quiet day here...BBL Ginny

Ginny, I hope you are both healthier soon. Ruth, take care of your back.
This morning i went to the chiropractor, stopped for some things at the grocery store, and I'm back at home. When I left the house, there were a few snowflakes. Now the clouds are clearing, and there's blue sky here and there.

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you're feeling a little better and I hope that you and your dh are both completely well soon. Your dh must have been feeling preetty bad to actually go and be checked annd treated. He sounds like my dh and me. We both hate to got to doctors. I remembered the main reason I didn't go to a doctor the last time my neck and upper back hurt so bad and this time with midback. It's because it hurts too darned much to get ready, get dressed and walk to the car, get in and out of it and wait to be seen.
Sue, I don't think we got any snowflakes here at all but probably will later acc to the weather report.
CJ, I loved seeing the afgan and the crochet dress that woman made. As Ginny said, you find the best things to share with us.And yes sometimes I'm really amazed at how some colors that I would think would not go together well actually like great together.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I hope your back is feeling better. Ginny - I'm glad to here you are getting better, hope your DH gets better too. Sue - Glad you were able to get to your appointment and get your shopping done. It's nice to see the blue skies Meg - Hope you've been working on a project and reading a good book. Phyl - Hope you've been working on a project too! I actually pieced a small mini quilt last night. I finished the top and it measured at 16x22. I had a pack of mini-charm squares and that's what I used in it, along with a neutral fabric. www.fatquartershop.com/evelyns-homestead-mini-charm-pack - hopefully you can see the fabric swatches here I only used the darker fabrics, not the lights. I sewed together rows of 6 patches - 2 blues, 1 green, 1 purple and 1 pink. I put the rest of the charms (12) into a small block to use later. It's fun working on small projects like this because they are quick and at least I feel like I did something It's cloudy and very cold here, only in the 30s (which is cold for this area). I'm supposed to be working on my decluttering, but haven't been motivated for a few days. I have several other things I need to get done before I go out to run errands this week, so I hope to focus on them. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon,
CJ- love the fabrics for the mini quilt! Somewhere along the course of life, I became a big fan of the darker calicos- which this mini charm pack has. Congrats on getting that mini quilt done. It sounds so very pretty.
Ruth-how are you feeling?
Sue, enjoy the blue sky! Are you more comfortable after the visit to the chiropractor?
Dh has bronchitis- his first bout with it that caused so much coughing. He has a follow up visit to the doctor on wednesday. I am doing a little bit better and am hoping that tomorrow I will be pretty much normal. I have slept a lot.

For those that enjoy the baking shows tonight is the first episode of this year's Kid's Baking Championship on Food Network at 9:00 P.M. (EST). I like the judges on this show, they are easy on the kids and supportive - and of course it's amazing what good bakers these kids are

they are amazing bakers as are the kids that cook but for some reason I don't like to watch kids cooking and baking. I'm weird
I did start my dgd's fox last evening but didn't get far. I think I like the IDEA of making something more than the making itself
I got some yarn I ordered and thought they made a mistake. They didn't. I just didn't look enough in the box. One skein is one that I ordered with the idea of making that same dgd a hat so may do that this evening instead. hats are much easier than something like the little amigurumi that has 7 parts to put together..maybe 8 actually

Hello everyone. We had a storm yesterday and a large part of my fence got blown down. So DS had to go out and clear up the mess. there is a little road that runs down one side of my house . It is a private road that leads to two houses and I have been wondering whether ask whether they would help pay for the fence. When I have replaced fences before and the neighbor has always helped with the cost. It is quite a long fence and will probably cost about $7,000. Looks like more rain I think I heard that we will have a series of storms. So I have been staying home today. Our electricity was out last night for several hours. I went to bed but I was restless so I got up and knit with the light from my flash light. I finally was able to settle down and go to sleep about 4 a.m. I bought 4 new flash lights recently. DGD put my candles away somewhere so I am glad I had the new flashlights.
I ordered some yarn from Amazon and they said it would arrive today. I think I will use this yarn for DDs afghan. The afghan I have been working on will make a good b/blanket or a lapgan.
Ruth. I hope you are feeling better and that you are not hurting.
Ginny, sorry you are feeling tired and hope you can get some rest time. I hope your DH feels better soon.
Sue, I am glad you can see blue skies and that you were able to go to the store.
cj, when the power went off last evening I wasn't able to read as the wi/fi was off everything was off. I hope you enjoy the baking show tonight. I might find a movie to watch tonight. I have been watching a lot of Hallmark movies recently. I was watching one when the power went out last night.
phyl, sorry you hurt your back but it sounds like your Dr. Chad got you fixed up. I have never been to a chiropractor. Hope you stay well.
Everyone is away so I will have a quiet evening. Enjoy your evening.

Ginny, I find that chiropractic helps me a great deal. I was the original naysayer to anything other than Western medicine until about two years ago. I had been seeing a craniosacral therapist who is a retired RN. She is the one who referred me. She said if I could only do one, she thought I should see the chiropractor. Not just any chiropractor but this specific one. Fortunately I didn't have to choose. I have degenerative disc disease, two old compression fractures plus the ocular migraines and other residual effects from the concussion/MTBI. The combination of non traditional approaches is far more effective for me for some of my specific problems. Western medicine for others.
Nobody is going to turn back the clock and make me younger, but if I can feel better and do more, I think it's worth the investment in time and money. Medicare pays for the visits for adjustments but not the evaluations. Aging still isn't for sissies, but for me, it's a lot more comfortable.

Sue, yes I agree that we should all be as comfortable as is possible and as healthy as we can be. I am a "do what I say not what I do" person though so I'm not good at following my own advice. I'm glad you took the steps needed to get back to yourself and to make yourself more comfortable and able to do things that need to be done. With your hubby's issues you certainly need to be able to handle things. I wish my dh would go to a chiropracter but he things they will try adustments pulling on his spine and joints and do more damage.

I am working on an infinity scarf that is crocheted along the length. The yarn is a merlot and black. Large hook, single crochet. Mindless, simple, and seems to go on forever, but the color change and blending is fascinating. Round and round I go!

Hello Crafters Meg - I'm sorry to hear about the fence damage from the storm, that's a big expense. I hope the neighbors help with costs and I'm glad you have your DS to help you. I always keep flashlights with new batteries on hand too. They really come in handy around the house. I hope you have your electricity back and didn't have any problems from it being off. Ruth - There are a lot of the baking shows that I just can't watch, like Worst Cooks. I have no desire to see someone cook badly But I understand that many shows aren't for everyone. Good luck with the fox project. I think foxes are so cute, but I know they are dangerous and problems. Sue - Your infinity scarf project sounds beautiful, I can imagine those colors go well together. Phyl - Hope your back is feeling better today. Ginny - Hope you are all recovered from your cold and doing well. I have been slacking on the decluttering, but I do have a few good excuses. Today I had to write 8 sympathy cards to mail out, 7 to members of the same family. That was really painful and sad to do. The lady that passed away was a childhood friend, so I need to send to her family and all of her siblings since we grew up together. She passed away right after Christmas from a very sudden illness, it was shocking to everyone. I also found out after Christmas that 3 ladies that I send cards to each year had also passed away, two in late 2018 and one in 2017. I worked with them many, many years ago and they hadn't sent me cards for years because I knew it was difficult for them but I still sent to them to let them know I was thinking of them. I would have thought I would have had the card returned from the one who passed away in 2017, but I didn't get it back - I did get my 2018 card to her returned. It's just been a sad time to lose so many people all at once, even though some had been gone awhile. I really think I should be posting on a baking board, because I do more of that right now than crafting Today I made this one pan cake and it turned out very well and was very easy to make: www.jennycancook.com/recipes/easy-one-bowl-yellow-cake/It's a plain cake that would be good with fruit or frosting. You could also add a different flavoring than vanilla to change it up. I had a few eggs to use, so that's why I made it. I only eat eggs in baked goods, so I won't bring them in the house again now that I need to get back on track to losing weight again. Take care everyone!

Meg, I'm so sorry to hear about your fence. That is a huge expense so I do hope the neighbors will help. I do think that staying in is your best option. You don't want to be out in bad weather unless you have too. when we first moved here the electricity was always going out so we started keeping a flashlight in every room and one within reach of each of us at our bedsides. Now we have countless flashlights.
Ginny I hope your tummy problem is better and that your dh is feeling better. Praying for both of your and your dd's friend and her family.
CJ, well baking is a form of crafting also and we love to hear what you're baking. The only cakes dh likes are carrot cake and hummingbird cake. He's never been fond of "normal" cakes. And I don't eat them because of the gluten and also because I don't need to eat all the calories involved in the ones I really like. No I think I watched one season of Worst Cooks but am not interested in watching anymore.
Sue your scarf does sound lovely but yes it can be tedious working on the same thing for any period of time. I'm always glad when something is done.During the summerI made somewhere around 50 pairs of fingerless gloves. Even though most were different I was sure tired of fingerless gloves by the time I got done with all of them
Phyl it's always nice when you stop in and fun to hear about your "bummin"I'm sorry to hear you also hurt your back. Was it better after the chiro?
Sometimes the back feels a little better than is worse again. I did remember that there is a place called Instacare not all that far from my home so I was thinking of going there but then I was able to massage the area that hurt and it felt better. I'd really like to get some muscle relaxants though because it's the muscle spasms that are the worst of it.
And CJ, so sorry to hear of all the deaths amoung your friends. And yes even though one died a couple years ago and another a year or so ago you just found out so it's new grief for you. We do grieve our friends also and those we used to work with. I recently heard that a woman I worked with died and was shocked to hear it because she was younger than me.Another also that was even younger died last year which I found out looking people up on facebook
