Hi everyone! I used to be on the WW forums daily for years. I was on the Less to Lose board mostly. It's probably been 5-6 years since I was a regular on the forums.
Here I am several years later and 20 lbs heavier than I was then! I've tried counting calories but I never have the self control to lose weight and keep it off, especially now that I'm older and less active (health problems combined with a much more sedentary job). I was doing pretty good keeping my weight around 147-149 and then I suddenly lost all control after being on some medications/going through some health changes last Fall and gained more weight. I'm at 156 now and haven't been able to lose any weight even though I'm no longer on those medications. I'm short and small gains are very noticeable.
I'm going to try weight watchers again. Weight watchers was always better for me than counting calories because I tend to eat more fruits and vegetables on WW since they are less points. I'm usually terrible at staying in my point range or calorie range but having more fiber from fruits/veggies definitely helps me eat less!
My initial focus is just to lose around 11 lbs to get to 145. It's not my ideal weight but considering my age and lifestyle I feel like it's something I could realistically maintain.

If you have been struggling, I would strongly encourage you to take a look at the Beck Book review thread under the Food & Diet tab. People will be reviewing The Beck Diet Solution (pink book) which works well with WW or any other plan you choose. It was a life changer for me and I have now been maintaining for over 4 years. The new review will start 2/24 and you can sign up now and have time to get a copy of the book.

Welcome! There are so many of that *couldn't do it*...and finally did! I agree with sunshinep396 about the Beck book being a huge help to me. I just finished an online Mindful Eating course with Dr. Susan Ayers (50 Ways to Sooth yourself without Food) and she said focus on what you CAN do rather than what you can't; I thought it was such a great reminder. Welcome! When I'm doing things right, I'm a calorie counter. Points just didn't work well for me. But here you will find people doing all kinds of plans & lots of support. I am going to do the Beck review(thanks for the info Sunshine) so,perhaps I'll see you there too. As they say, the best way to,lose is the way that works for you.

I have the Beck Diet book. Right before my 4th pregnancy the book helped me lose about 15 lbs. I already have the book out to start day 1 today. I'm so thankful for that reminder!

michelle, we sound very similar on the weight front! i am short and managed to maintain in the mid to high 140s for about 2 years even though my goal weight is about 137. but i figured maintaining a relatively decent weight was better than gaining! then last fall i proceeded to start the home-buying process and i lost ALL focus on controlling my food intake through that incredibly stressful time. i steadily gained and for a few months now have been maintaining around 157-159.
i need to focus again. today i made the decision to NOT buy lunch out which is huge for me at this stage. i have a packed salad that i prepared last night and brought with me today to work.
we can do this!
