GOOD MORNING CRAFTERS, I was planning on going to sit and sew tomorrow.Haven't been there since the week before Christmas. they close the store the two weeks of the holiday season .they do, do inventory in between.
Haven't been doing any quilting. I can't get one project done a month if I don't get back to it.
JIM and Theresa are coming tomorrow. they have some business to take care of in town.
Theresa and I have not exchanged presents yet.we can't get together in December we do it in January. think one year it took us till March.
I did watch the the Theresa video on quilting. will have to tell my friend in MN about it. she quilts, don't think she has done alot of it.
well I need to get started on getting the house picked up. won't do it by itself darn it. phyl

Great to see you Phyl! Two things about housework....it is very patient and always waits for you. Unfortunately, with company coming, its understood that you want the house to look nice. Are they staying with you overnight? One thing my pastors wife says about housework and keeping a super neat home. Anyone who comes to see her better come to see her and not how neat her home is. I kind of like that advice. So gee, they make self cleaning ovens- why do they not make self cleaning homes? Hope you are successful getting done what you want to before Jim and Theresa arrive. Make a date with yourself to do some quilting later on in the week- when it looks as though most of the northern states are going to have some snow. Perfect weather to stay in and play with fabric.
My LQS is closed for inventory also, and I will call them tomorrow to sign up for a class I want to take.
Babysitting now, and sounds like DGD just woke up. There goes my peace and quiet. I might have the kids all week- either this week or next. Dd will have to let me know later. She is not doing well after the passing of her friend late last week. Memorial service is this Saturday.
Yes, I did get some machine time in last night. I know this is supposed to be an easy quilt to put together, I am not getting long blocks of time to work on it however. Little by little it gets done and I must be patient.
Got Bible study tonight, so I will probably not be back later. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well and ready for a new week
Phyl - I hope you get to Sit and Sew tomorrow and enjoy the visit with Jim and Theresa.
Ginny - I'm glad you were able to work on your quilting last night, hope you can get some more time in this week. I'm glad you can help your DD with the kids while she's going through a tough time. Grief is tough and each person has their own path to go through it.
That was a nice thing your pastor's wife said about her house. I didn't get what I call the "Suzy Homemaker" gene. I hate all house cleaning, and I just don't seem to have the knack of making a house look like a home. I have the desire for these things and the thoughts, but they don't translate. I guess it was a good thing I didn't ever get married or have kids
I spent 90 minutes outside this morning shoveling the snow from the walk and steps, cleared off the cars and then around them, shoveled a path to the trash can and mailbox. I had thought I was getting out of shape since I gained some weight back, but I managed this and wasn't tired out. The sun is out and hopefully it will melt most of the snow in the driveway - since I'm not clearing that. I have a long driveway but I think the car can drive over this snow O.K.
Take care everyone!

I want to sign up for the self cleaning house! My oven doesn't need that much attention! Self cleaning ovens save time. Help! My house needs help! If I didn't have woofers, things would be better! Peaches shreds newspapers. Yesterday Peanut was sick. A little bit of strategic hair trimming and washing was needed this morning.
I just ordered some blue and off white fabric from fatquarters.com. It spoke to me. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet.
This is another beautiful day. 14 this morning going up to 38 again. The sun is shining.
This morning I had an appointment with the podiatrist. He cut back the ingrown toenail again, so that feels much better for now. He also took x-rays of my right foot. I'm having problems with my big toe on the foot I had hammertoe surgery on last spring. No arthritis, small bone spurs. Most likely tendinitis, plus irritation from the bone spur. When he looked at the x-ray he almost fell over. He said he's never seen so much hardware in an ankle! He was surprised I don't have more problems with my foot. His parting words were to quit hanging out in hardware stores. He's very funny!
I dropped off some things for Goodwill, bought a new mailbox and some 18 gallon plastic containers.
This afternoon I just have to spend a little bit of time checking over the things for the CPA appointment tomorrow.

I tried to post earlier but my internet and phone were both out so it had to be the cable company because I reset my wifi three times and it didn't work. Then when it did come back it wouldn't let me send the message I had typed out.
So now I'll probably forget all I was going to say but CJ, I'm glad the snow clearing didn't tire you out. That's definitely a good sign. I've come to realize how foolhardy it is to become a couch potato and lose your strength.I didn't inherit that cleaning and decorating gene either. I don't really like to clean and when I do I never feel that the house is clean enough. And no matter how I decorate I always feel like it doesn't look nice and looks amateurish. I was just thinking that this morning when I saw on a tv program how nice a character's home looked..of course that's only tv but I do think a lot of people really have a great knack for doing that and I lack it.
Sue you, Ginny, And Phyl are some of the busiest people I know.CJ keeps herself occupied but doesn't seem as busy as you guys and me...well I'm probably the most unbusy person there is. How is your scarf coming along. I know you'll be happy when the CPA business is taken care of
Phyl, have a good time with Jim and Theresa. You can always go to sit and sew next week. And I do think that your house is always company ready. I just get that impression.
I never use the self cleaning feature on my oven. I clean it the old fashioned way. In summer the self cleaning makes the house too hot and in winter it would heat the house nicely probably but I'm always afraid of fires
Meg, I hope you're having a good week. I hear there is a lot of rain and even snow in Ca so if it's in your area please stay safe
Ginny, I hope you had a good time with the baby. They grow up so fast and do such cute things while doing the growing. My ddil sent me a message last night saying they were thinking of me yesterday and wishing that we would move there to be close to them. I'd love to live near them but not sure I want to move even though I often threaten to move to AZ

Good morning!!
Came back from study last night and read the posts....or at least skimmed them but was too tired to respond.
CJ- I heard on the news that the DC area was really hit hard by all the snow. Seriously, sounds like you got less than 6 inches, but for an area like you like in where most folks are not used to it- that is a lot. Snow removal is a great activity- as long as you do not over do it and pace yourself. (Of course I am not talking about 2 feet of snow, but a few inches!). You are probably better than you think at decorating. Indeed there are a few who just have the knack to really make a house look just like Joanna Gaines just decorated it, Watching some of those shows on channels like. HGTV helps....and it helps to remember that most of us do not decorate our homes with an unlimited budget. Looks like you are destined to more snow in a few days. I am sure you are all set or will be with what you need so you do not have to go out with the loonies just before a storm.
Sue, ok so your ankle would never get through airport security! And its cold by you, but bright sunny days look beautiful off of sparkly snow. Seems like yesterday you were saying that you had a month off from the CPA and were taking a breather. Time flies.... and you know? Sometimes fabric just does talk to you. Or yarn. Think we all know that. Do you order from fatquarters.com much? Sounds like a web page I ought to stay away from- lt although I will need some fabric for the back and border of the quilt I am making. Perhaps I could check them out.
Phyl-hope you rested well last night!! The playpen will wait for you after Jim and Theresa leave. Hope that you have a lovely visit with them. Do they live very far from you- do you get to see them much? Many thanks for the recommendation of that book. I will have little contact with the young child who just lost her mom....but will see if my Dd is interested in the book. I noticed at Dd’s house yesterday that she had a book called “Heaven” by Joni Erickson Tada there. I am very sure that Dd will read that....she is struggling with the loss of her friend. Hope you have a really nice day- you’ll get to sit and sew next week!
Ruth- I have a dear friend who moved from NY to AZ (with interim stops in SC and Fl.). She hates AZ and is planning on moving back to Fl. Wouldn’t it be nice if family lived closer for your sake! Moving is such a huge undertakng.... Like you, I clean my oven the old fashioned way. Just makes more sense. Yes some do have the decorating knack. My friend has it a bit more than I do- actually I should say I do not really have it but she usually puts it all together better than I do. reading between the lines here, I hope your back injury is improving a little bit... a little activity every day is good for you- even if its only 15 minutes with Leslie Sansone.. But you have to feel better to do that. Will pray for your recovery from your injury.
Gotta go find the cable bill so I can pay it. Dgd will be here around 9:30- first time she has been here in over a week. she is such a sweet baby.

Good morning (it's still barely morning here )
Ginny, oh I thought your baby grandaughter was there yesterday. Another good book on Heaven is one by David Jeremiah. I love Joni Tada. She is such a courageous woman. How anyone stands going thru life without being able to do a thing for themselves is really beyond me.I have a friend who's son is a quadriplegic only his injury was even higher so he is always attached to a portable ventilator. He's attended college since his injury and does a lot on the computer even though he can't move any part of his body at all.Even though he has a trach he can speak so he does things by voice command. I think he's in his late 50's now. Some quadriplegics can at least move the shoulders so are able to do some things with their arms but not him. Joni writes books, has a radio program, paints and does all kinds of things I think just by moving her head.
Well the back goes back and forth. Sometimes feels better sometimes worse again. Luckily I have no children to take care of nor do I work. I'd be in big trouble if I really had to do something like that.
Now my rant for the day....It would be great if walmart would actually hire people who can read and speak English. I told you all about the item dh ordered that we wanted to return. Well long story short the last person said he was ordering a prepaid mailing lable to be sent to me in snail mail since I have no printer. I haven't received it yet. So yesterday I sent another email and stated the details very clearly yet today got and answer telling me it might be in my spam folder.....duh....it wasn't to be sent to me in email and no it wasn't in my spam folder..I said that clearly. So of course I sent a reply clarifying even further. We'll see what kind of response I get to this one. On those shoes dh kept getting the wrong color he finally gave up and just told them he didn't want even more gray ones so forget the whole thing. On this item...which is a power pack type thing that you can use to jumpstart your car and other things, they did refund the money but said if it's not back in 30 days they will recharge us. It's way too heavy for us to pay postage to get it back there. Would probably cost to mail it what we paid for the stupid thing.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. We actually had about 8-9 inches of snow here, but it's starting to melt some on the walks and roads. I was glad it wasn't bad enough that I had to shovel the end of the driveway at the road. That's the worst place after a big snowstorm because the plows push all those big chunks of ice up there. Yesterday and today have been sunny. I did find that one of my drainpipe had a big chunk of ice frozen in it. I disconnected the bottom part so the water draining from the roof could get out and hopefully the ice will melt and I can put it back on. The talk about being busy, doesn't really apply to me. I have perfected the art of doing nothing Sometimes I can't believe how fast the day goes by and I have done a thing but get on the computer and eat meals - along with some exercise at least. Take care everyone!

Sue, I often have that problem.
CJ, that's a lot of snow esp for your area but for anyone. I'm glad it's melting and you didn't have to do that part near the street.
I have been crocheting a little bit today but really need to get down to business on these things I need to make for the Feb birthdays. Then I'll do the March ones and be done for awhile and can do some that I really want to try.
I need to make a list again so that I don't forget the other things I want to make....the chill pills for dd and the hippo for my sister. I'd mention EAster things but in all reality I don't feel like making a bunch of things that I "have" to make right now.

Good morning! Ruth, good to hear that you got some crochetting in yesterday. You function well with lists- and knowing all the gifts that you lovingly craft, organization would be key. If you are not feeling 100% then of course having a long list of “have to make” items might seem overwhelming. Make your list so you know what you have to get busy with and then step away from it for a few days. Then you might not feel more inspired. Sorry about Walmart and the return. It sure seems as though you have been fighting this battle with them for a long time. Its tiresome dealing with folks that just do not speak english well enough to understand or do business with. Hope that this latest effort to resolve the return works and you get your label in the mail.
Sue......well glad you are ok- but very sorry that your post is out there in cyber land. Happens to all of us!!!
CJ- 8 inches of snow is significant for any of us. Will the temps be warm enough to thaw your drain pipes? Guess that is what retirement is all about- just relaxing and doing what you want. And if that is nothing, so be it!!! Its the time of year where gardening is out of the question and best that you stay inside and not deal with the loonies on the road in bad weather. Last week (because we were both sick) Dh and I had a few days where we just stayed home- gotta say it felt really nice. (Dh is the one to want to get out all the time). Anyway, you find the coolest blogs and craft ideas online, so you are using your time wisely.
Phyl, we are in good company here, as it sounds as though none of us are suzy homemaker with fresh cookies and hot coffee on all day long along with a spotless home. Sorry that Jim and Theresa are not heading to visit this time, but being 75 miles is not such a huge distance....I am sure you will see them sooner or later. A little dust and clutter never killed anyone....I am sure your home is plenty neat enough.
Going to BJ’s this am....and then we will go out later on to check out a house that Dd and her fiancee might be interested in. Sounds like it needs some fixing up....so getting it early would give them time to fix it up a bit.
Ok- wanna straighten up a bit while Dh is in the shower..... G

This is a beatiful day. There's lots of sunshine, and the diamonds are glittering in the snow! A few wispy clouds are decorating the sky!
Yesterday J the caregiver moved three chairs from the sunroom downstairs to the garage and moved two bookcases and my sewing table. By the time he finished. My back hurt (seriously). I just pointed! Now that I can get to all the other things, I may have hopes of cleaning out what was basically a junk room. The late afternoon sun now warms the room enough that there's hope of sewing for a little bit if my back will cooperate.
Yesterday I was saying something about watching HGTV a lot (part of what disappeared). I used to paint accent walls bedrooms, the kitchen. I want to paint the sunroomwhich is shiplap, I'll probably hire someone. I've gotten lots of ideas over the years and would love to remodel my house. It's not something I'm going to do at my age. Everything works (except hb!), but any buyer would say it's a total do-over. The overall feeling inside is comfortable casual eclectic. The house is a split level with the main floor up. The outside yard is far more interesting than the house because that's the part I'm passionate about. I can't do that part either without help, but I can enjoy what I've done in the past when I'm able to sit outside in nicer weather! I can walk through the backyard with the dogs still!
I slept very late this morning, so I'd better finish my second cup of coffee and at least get dressed!
