Good morning and happy new week to all of you
It snowed some in the night but they said high today would be only 18 but it's 32 right now so not bad and no wind.
Last night I took the whole Bible cover apart and started over with a new pattern of stitches. I was doing the stars themselves correctly and I was ending up with the correct number but somehow the side was slanting in. I'm sure I was going into the wrong stitch at the beginning of te rows. This new stitch is pretty. I don't know if it has a name.
I don't know what's planned, if anything, for this week except for that possible trip to the post office later in the week and if we do that I'm sure we'll stop at some grocery stores.

CJ- I would think that an issue with the pressure relief valve on the tank might be the problem or part of the problem for your heater. They are easy to replace and not an expensive part. Thanks for leaving us with the links.....I also enjoy “house” quilts- and while that one might not be to my fancy - is awfully cute. Hope your heater is serviced soon.
Ruth- let us know what you hear about DGS and if he is heading to Taiwan or not. Hope that he makes the right decision.... Reogranizing a craft area is a royal pain. You hit it on the head, its a challenge figuring out how to organize and also how small a quantity to keep or get rid of. Glad you have a good place to donate some supplies to. Which will hopefully make your reorganization easier.
Sue, glad you were able to get out without slipping......be careful!
Today is our long day at Dd’s. DGD#2 has been cranky- she is getting teeth- finally. But its been a bit of a long day with her. She is napping now.
Got Bible study tonight. Hopefully I am awake enough to go. I did get a few minutes of machine time in last night.
take care- hope Meg and Phyl check in. I wonder how Megs daughter is doing in her recovery from a broken hip Ginny

Ginny, I was thinking of you and your dgd#2 earlier today because someone on the crochet group posted a picture of some really cute animal teethers she had made but they're made with wooden rings. I've been seeing those a lot lately and wondered about having babies chew on wood. Plus the ones she got she ordered from Amazon and I've seen them and they're from China. I really don't think I'd want a baby chewing on wooden rings from China. I hear many of their products have a lot of bad chemicals and heavy metals in them. The woman said she boiled the rings but that wouldn't help with chemicals and I'm not sure about all organisms either so anyway, I wondered if your dgd chews on wood rings and also if your dd has one of those amber teething necklaces on her. I heard they really work but you know how I feel about possible strangulation risks. My oldest grandson and his gf had a necklace on my dggs when he was a baby...he's 2 now so luckily it didn't do that but It seems to me that it's risky.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today O.K., what happened to January? I swear it was just New Year's Day a few days ago Time sure does fly. I went out today and did some shopping and took care of some errands. Now I won't need to go out the rest of the week, if I don't want to. It's supposed to be very cold here the next few days and we're getting some snow tomorrow. Ginny - I think you are right about this being a pressure problem. My furnace is heating alright, so I'm going to try to wait until after this cold snap to call for an appointment. I packed up 2 boxes of books and DVDs today to get ready for donation. I also cleared out a box of junk and hope to work on more of those this week. The problem I always run into is that I don't have dedicated spaces in my house, like an office, so all those things that would go in that room get spread around the house. My dream house would have a dedicated office area, instead of having my computer in the dining room! The Kid's Baking show is on tonight, it's been a good season so far, the kids seem very well matched in their skill level. I'm always in awe of how the whip together a cake and frosting, cookies, etc. Hope everyone is getting in some crafting. Take care everyone!

We had about 4" of snow last night. That took the icy, sloppy slides scare away this morning and just left a nice crunch. Lows will be in the single gigits tonight and tomorrow. The snow man cleared the driveway before I got home from the chiropractor. He left just enough that the ice underneath wasn't slippery. I have my yak trakz ready!
I made a stop at the grocery store because I forgot a few things yesterday. I was out of laundry detergent, and even though it was on my list, I still forgot it! I think that must be a special talent! And, of course, that means an extra stop when it happens. This isn't the first time and likely won't be the last.

good morning, haven't done any crafting this weekend. sunday we went to olive garden and later in the day for some reason I felt a little light headed. bs was fine.
yesterday felt a little blah.except for going to give blood for this month's platelet count I live in my pj's and robe.
course then along with this goes wanting to snack all day.
today I will be in my playpen. looking for a piece of a fabric to give to a friend who is going to have a great-great grandson.forget how many greats she has. I think I may have given that piece to the guild's charity girls.
sounds like we all are trying to get some crafting in.
schools are close through wednesday. that will make 3 days.they say we have not been this cold with polar voitex since 1996.
make it a good crafting day. phyl

Good morning!
Well, I was partially through my post and it got lost in cyberland. Oh well.
Sue, think we have all had the shopping list problem, either leaving the list at home (been there, done that) or just plain forgetting to keep looking at it.....and then getting home to find out that the one thing you really wanted you forgot. Stay warm and off the ice. Glad your driveway has been cleared. Stay warm and safe.
CJ-Love the sound that you are getting some decluttering done, as this has been a long term goal of yours. Its a challenge when you do not have dedicated areas for things like crafting or an office. So it means that you are functioning in a less than perfect area, Sometimes using baskets for storage helps and permits some portability. (I do not have an “office” either. Hope you enjoyed the kids baking show. Its pretty amazing the level of sophisitication of these kids, who know baking terms and techniques that I am clueless about.
Ruth, thanks for the great advice about baby teething rings. I am not worried about Dd using anything that is not safe for the baby- Dd is borderline organic (Most of her food is organic). And I agree, boiling the rings might get rid of water soluble problems, but for example, pressure treated lumber is also chemically treated, and I am pretty sure that that chemical would not be cleared up with boiling. Hey, did you get any work done on the knit hat?
Ok, its snowing here. Who knows how much we will get, think we are in the 3 to 6 inch band. Got a quiet day here- schools are closed and so there is no babysitting. Pretty sure that DSIL to be is eating dinner over....DD#2 and he start pre marriage counselling this evening if the weather permits. THink my machine is calling me. Have a blessed day Ginny

I can't believe I'm just getting here today. Earlier I was working in my craft cave then decided to make sweet and sour chicken. I forgot how involved that is with cornstarching, putting in egg and then browning each piece of chicken then making the veggies and sauce, finally letting it all simmer together and then making rice. It was good though but dh decided to have some before it simmered so it wasn't as tasty as it would have been. He was worried that the simmering would cause the crust to come off the chicken. I thought it might make it soggy. I haven't made it that way in years and years.
Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well and hope you're feeling ok now. I'm sorry to hear that your platelet count is up some. I hope there will be better results next time. How's your friend that fell doing?

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting. I do read most of your posts when I have time. Janet is doing dine, She had her stitches out yesterday and today I took her to the beauty shop to get a hair cut. They have a hair dresser in the building, which is nice as Janet really needed a hair cut. She was sharing a room with another woman who screamed and yelled continually …. she is no longer there. Of course Janet does her share of yelling. But mostly she sits in a wheel chair by the nurses station . I have been going every day to help her with her lunch. She can feed herself but makes a mess. I also do her laundry.
I have been crafting. I am working on a big granny square and I still have to finish the V stitch afghan. I will probably do that this evening and listen to a book. I see that the weather is bitterly cold in many states and I hope you are all managing to stay warm and that there are no burst pipes. We did have some rain last week but mostly the days are warm and sunny. When the sun goes down that's when we feel the cold.
cj, I did check out the web sites you posted last week and enjoyed seeing the crocheted b/blankets. Yes I have been watching Victoria on Sunday evening. So many places in the UK have been named after her.
Ruth, I hope you get your stitch worked out. It's fun to try a new stitch. I don't think I would like teething rings or whatever made out of wood. Of course if they were made in China I would not trust them.
Ginny, good luck with the baby. Teething can be trying for everyone but something we all go through.
phyl, I bet it is cold where you live so it is a good idea to stay warm in your pjs. I like to wear sweats for those days when I want to be cozy at home. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
Sue I hope you are managing in this very cold snowy weather. best place to be is indoors where it is warm.

Good morning!
Phyl- hope that your platelet count is within the range that your doctor wants you at.....its tough when we feel blah- this is a difficult time for many who love warmer weather. Glad you found some fabric in your stash. Its tough when we have donated something that we swore we would never use and then all of the sudden have a need for it. Its happened to all of us I am sure!
Ruth- sweet and sour chicken is quite a process- bet yours came out really well though.!
Meg, glad Janet is doing so well. Challenging roomates are surely an issue in a hospital or rehabilitation center- and can be very disturbing and or irritating. Dd is lucky that you are able to be with her every day. The extra attention really does help the process of healing and retraining on life skills. Were you able to complete the V stitch afghan?
Schools here were on a 2 hour delay- but the roads seem fine now. The deep freeze arrives this afternoon, along with a bit more snow.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm glad you are still able to help Janet and I hope she continues to improve. Ginny - I bet it's nice not to have to worry about driving the bus in this winter weather this year - unless of course you want to. Phyl - Hope you are feeling better and can find the fabric. Sue - Hope you are getting in some crafting. Ruth - Did you see this story about a small boy who loves to crochet, he's been crocheting since he was 5 year old: www.wwltv.com/article/news/11-year-old-wisconsin-boy-is-crocheting-prodigy/289-2c71dc8f-d7a2-4941-a5a5-75e0a731ed1cHere's his Instagram page with some really nice pictures of his projects: www.instagram.com/jonahhands/I love that cowl with the 3 buttons that he makes. It looks almost like cables on it. I've just been dealing with my furnace and preparing for the cold weather we're supposed to have today and tomorrow. I've been doing some decluttering and I'm hoping to keep at it. Take care everyone!
