People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Monday: Karen E; Tuesday: Ann; Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C: Sunday: Gail.

Happy Groundhog Day! I hope it’s sunny where you are and he doesn’t see his shadow.
I did ok food wise until evening. I had a glass of wine and a few crackers with goat cheese. For someone who loves cheese but is allergic to cow’s milk, a bit of goat cheese is a treat.
I was going to seal grout outside today but it’s probably going to rain. For some reason sealing grout has always been my job. Laundry is done so maybe I’ll paint.

Good morning!
We're in the teens this morning so it almost feels balmy out there! We'll be above freezing today and for the next week so the snow we have on the ground will be gone shortly. The groundhog predicted an early spring so I'll take this coming week as a sign it's going to happen.
I got my errands done yesterday so I really don't have anywhere to be today. I think I'll do some household chores today. I got the ingredients for a new crock pot recipe so I'll get that started later this morning.....Stuffed Cabbage Casserole. I've made an oven baked Cabbage Casserole many times but never in the crock pot and this recipe was a little different from the one I have so I decided to try it.

Have you always painted, Sharon? I love your use of color.
I slept over 7.5 hours last night. I needed it. Still fighting that cold.
Last night I watched a few episodes of GRACE AND FRANKIE, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, on Netflix. Oh my, so funny. If any of you haven't seen the show, I recommend it highly. This morning I watched some youtube sessions with Fonda and Tomlin, who have been friends since the film 9 TO 5. One piece was about female friendship and how beneficial it is. Anyways, I'm walking around with a smile on my face.
I'll be seeing CARMEN simulcast from the Met in our local movie theaters today. One of my friends sent me an article about the opera translated very poorly into English. Hysterical. Part of it talks about the song "Toreador, toreador, all hail the balls of the toreador." I can't figure how to post it here, but more smiles.
Breakfast calling. I'll be back tonight after the opera and dinner.

Good morning. showed and hair washed. I made poached eggs on Healthy Life Whole wheat bread for breakfast. Healthy Life give you two slices for less carbs than one of other breads.
DD Jeanne is picked me up at 1:00 to go to Nashville for JJ's basketball game. She usually can;t go so this is her first game this season. I'm glad as now I don't have to drive. He is coming home with me for the evening. I know he will want chips and dip for the evening.
I'm planning on just straightening and putting away totes and laundry today. No new projects.
Sharon we have a gray day so I'm pretty sure our ground hog did not see his shadow. Spring starts in April and we will experience it a few weeks before the actual date. Usually by March it is spring weather. We may get a rogue ice storm, but the majority of the month is 50's and 60's. We will hit 70 I'm sure. We're hitting 70 this Sunday!
I love goat cheese. I put mine on celery. I always enjoy seeing your paintings. You have a real talent.
Gail funny story about the translation.
I kist wemt pit pm tje deck to finish my post and have my second cup of coffee. It is warm enough, but I couldn't see the screen.

WW today was the open house. I wish I understood the change in WW, but trying to get along with it. I did listen to someone talking about adding some new things to her meals. I think that's where I am. Needing some little thing to keep meals interesting for my body. I eat so much the same that my body gets bored, I think.
Because there was something wrong with my bar code I wasn't logged in and they didn't give me the new weight record booklet. Today we got it all fixed and I got the new booklet. I don't know about any of you, but I was not very diligent about keeping it recorded. So I decided I'd work on that.
I listened to the leader who I need to work to follow her. But she talked about being sure to eat points and being sure to eat some fats. And I thought, okay. I get my fats from avocado, which I don't eat all that often and nuts which I eat slightly more often. So, I'm going to eat a little more of each this week.
QOTD: As you plan your meals (or not, as the case may be) are you attentive to healthy fats? What healthy fats do you add to your eating plan?
Sharon, goat cheese. Yes, that's my "treat". I just don't like the fake cheese. I've bought Daiya and maybe there is something that is good, but I just can't choke it down! I do like goat cheese and DH has found a cream-cheese-like goat cheese that works in our scrambled eggs. We like the creaminess that cheese gives eggs.
I really notice it when I eat cheese lately. Thursday the sandwich I ordered at lunch came with a piece of cheese on it. I apparently read right over it! But I ate half on Thursday and found the other half on Friday. Cough, cough, cough
Hope the day is going well. We're to hit 60 today. I hope that's true.

I lost my post on the computer so switched to my iPad.
Gail, I also got 7 1/2 hrs sleep. Watching the grandkids wore me out a little more than I thought I would.
This morning I went t yoga class. In yin yoga you hod poses for 3 to 8 min and it works on your fascia. It was just what I needed.
Tonight Mike’s sister Kathy & I are going to a wine tasting party. Should be fun!

Sharon, I love the paintings you posted yesterday. You are very talented! Could you remind me of the process of the painting you did by adding a different medium and swirling it around. I was going to get the supplies to give it a try.
Healthy fats, I still do the 2 daily healthy oils per the older program.i use olive oil. I also like avocados and nuts.

Ruth it’s watercolor on watercolor paper. Watered down a little. Then when it’s dry use a micro fiber pen to draw and distinguish. You can use any color combo. Blue and gold, blue and purple, etc. just one of those little paint pans is good to use.
Gail I’ve painted on and off since young adulthood. First I started with oils and now I’m hooked on watercolor. I’m not a fan of acrylics, but some people are. My favorite medium is drawing.
I cook with a little olive oil everyday. I don’t “fry” food. Eggs and peanut butter have fat too. Since I track macronutrients I see I get plenty of fat each day. I also track sat. fat.

Mr. Ground Hog did not see his shadow here so to be an early spring but will take that a day at a time as no other Old Wife's Take has held true this winter. Very cloudy this morning but sun now with a lot of melting going on.
Went to Pella to DGS wrestling match. Won one, lost other by one point. His father was not happy with him as with all the school missed this past week less practices and he must have over eaten also as he did make his weight at weigh in. 4 pounds over so he had to wrestle up.
Is a lovely painting Sharon. That is a talent I do not possess. The pears look good enough to eat. My youngest sister has a little painting knack. Like you hers is free hand. She doesn't dapple in it much as she is still working as Dietician at Unity Point hospitals in Des Moines.
AOTD: I am attentive to healthy oils. I still tend to practice the Good Health Guidelines that was used in the Points Plus program. The oils listed in that program were olive oil, canola, oil, sufflower, sunflower or flaxseed oils. Mine are oilve and or canola. I use it on my toast, if I want to fry an egg, toast a sandwich, in oatmeal, etc. I may not get two each day but always one teaspoon. Have a WW oil sprayer to spray the oil. I do not use whole cheeses, milk for fat content as my body does not allow that. Also never really eaten an avocado, maybe a taste now an then.

AOTD I looked at my tracker today and everything had some fat except 2 fruits and onion. Things having fat were bread, beef, walnuts, egg, oil and avocado. Total grams of fat for the day were 41 but only 7 of saturated fat. I have ground flaxseed in my oatmeal a few days a week.

Good evening
I basically used olive oil when I'm cooking or canola. I do have a question though for all you gals, I'm trying to limit my carbs but even the fruits are high in carbs. I've tried searching on the net, but for some reason I'm not finding anything helpful.
I try to stay away from any processed foods other than cheese, I've limited my bread or English muffin and pasta maybe once a month. I didn't do that great this week so I do plan on working on my meals for next week and I might even track them on MFP and ww for the week since I'll know what I'm having for breakfast and lunch a couple days.+
