CJ, I also have some LP's. Just a couple though and no way to play those. I have cassettes and quite a few cassette players as well as some that will record and of course cd's. I never listen to music though. I'm glad your quilt shop is just moving nearby and not closing or moving out of town. I love sausage gravy. It's great on biscuits and on mashed potatoes.
Sue, I'm glad to hear that the tenants are amenable to what you want to be done with the apartment. The colors they talked about don't sound like good ones for a rental. My mother used to make a great vegetable beef soup.it didn't have much beef, just what came off the soup bone but it was tasty.I like the thicker soups such as bean and split pea...also lentil. Sorry your hb's caregiver is sick and I hope that your flu shots will protect both of you from whatever he has.

Good morning!
Will try to catch up. Who knows how good a job I will do!!!
Sue, agree, its a good thing that your tenants are amenable to kind of following some direction regarding decorating. I know that grey is very popular now as a wall color (we actually had my mom’s kitchen painted a soft grey and the paint I have here to paint the bathroom when (if) Dh finishes the work in there is soft grey). Anyway....hope that something amenable to all can be worked out. Glad you have gotten some reading time in! There is plenty of time for crafting, a season for everything. Agree, let your caregiver stay far far away until whatever illness he has passes. So sorry that your back is acting up. Are they asking for the ice on your feet or on an area of your back?
Phyl- my condolences on the loss of a friend and DGS’s other grandma. Sounds like she was a dear and caring woman....and that she will be reunited in Heaven is a comfort. It seems as though theLord took her home without much suffering.... Glad you were able to get that block 8 figured out. Don’t obsess over it. Quilting was supposed to be fun and not something to stress over.
Ruth,gee- if its not too much work would you be able to provide a link for those gluten free biscuits? My friend needs to eat gluten free, and although she does not bake much it would be nice to be able to offer her something nice like that. Hope you were able to locate the pattern for the fgs!! That is so frustrating- but happens to me a lot. Are the hotpads supposed to go in the box you are mailing out on Friday?
CJ- Absolutely you should keep that music playing system!!! Its hard to find all the components now, although there is a resurgance of record playing. Indeed, there is a time for everything- and sooner or later you will get into your craft area to straighten up. That is the one down side of doing as much downsizing and cleaning as you have been doing....the reorganization phase is time consuming and for me frustrating. Ok, so I probably missed the post but were you able to get the second issue with your heater taken care of? So glad that your favorite LQS is staying close by!!!Mine did the same thing....and although she sells less fabric than she did at the first store its nice having a store for thread or machine parts really close by.
Finished ironing all my squares, now have to watch the video again and get the layout done. I am probably going to purchase a template and special foot to allow me to stipple using my home machine and have it look like more like it was done on a long armer. Looking forward (with a little trepidation) to that! And yesterday I played with fabric, and pretty much figured out what I am making the table runner with. I will need to pick up two fat quarters of fabric- a tonal white for the background and a yellow print. Will purchase them at Joanns so I am not spending a small fortune. Happy about that! and once I see what the fabric requirement really is (and have the pattern) I have some other fabrics in another color scheme that would also be nice.
Schools are on a 2 hour delay. Pretty icy out there but is supposed to warm up.
My favorite soups are.....navy bean, chicken bisque and creamy chicken noodle. All great for a cold winter day. Ginny

www.mamaknowsglutenfree.com/gluten-free-biscuits/This is the link for the biscuits. They're well worth making if you have to or want to eat gluten free. The cutting in of the cold butter is not easy so hopefully your friend has a one of those hand held pastry cutters. and she should follow the woman's directions exactly because they are made really thick and the folding over needs to be done...she says twice, I did mine three times. The thickness seems strange but it does make that high tender biscuit. If you roll out the dough or make your disc thinner you aren't going to end up with good biscuits. And it's important to use the same flour because almost all gluten free flours are different combos of flours. My dgs arrived safely in Taiwan so prayer of thanks has been sent. Ginny. congrats on getting so much done on your quilt and also prep for the class. And your plan for buying new tools to do the stippling sounds like a good one. It always feels so great to create something. And you're sure right about our crafts needing to be something we enjoy. Oh about the keyboard issue... I have a tablet and bought a bluetooth keyboard for mine also but I haven't used it but maybe once. Yes the online keyboard is really a hard thing to use so I do have to remember that if I end up having to use my tablet because my laptop dies I'll need to get that little wireless keyboard out. Thanks for reminding me. I did get hotpad#2 done last night and am almost done with #3. I have four more rows to do on that and I also made the hat for dgd but I think I need to redo part of it. Now that I have chunky yarn (#5) that I wanted to use I couldn't find a nice pattern so I adjusted a pattern that calls for #4 and even though it's supposed to be slouchy I don't want it to be too slouchy because I don't know if the dgds like slouchies or not. So since it incorporates two rows of bead stitch I'm going to take one of those rows out and go on to the rest of the hat...well that's my current plan. We'll see what the plan ends up being. The big thing now is faux fur pompoms and I did get some. Now to just figure out how to attach them. They come with a really long elastic band. I want to make it removable so I may just take that elastic off and sew on some yarn and just tie it inside."they" say to sew a button inside and wind the elastic around that but I think that will still be hard to get off and back on

Hello Crafters Sue - I'm sorry to hear about the caregiver being sick, hopefully you can make out on your own. I probably like Chicken Noodle Soup the best, then Cream of Crab and I have a Ground Beef Barley Vegetable Soup that I make and really enjoy. We had a lot of Campbell's Soup when I was growing up Hope you can make some soup to enjoy. Ginny - Hope the roads get better as the day goes on, I can imagine you have icy roads in the morning a lot in the winter. I hope you can find your fat quarters at JoAnn's. I buy things there too when it's not a project I want to put a bunch of money into. I didn't get another appointment for my furnace yet, but as long as I don't set the temperature too low and keep it running all the time (instead of getting it to a temp and cutting it off), then I haven't had the water problems. It has been nice to wake up to a warmer house than I had been. Ruth - That looks like a good biscuit recipe. I like how they added in cinnamon to make a sweet biscuit too. I'm glad to hear you are getting some work done on your projects. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are doing well. It was sunny here today and in the 40s, a bit windy tonight but milder tomorrow. After 2 days of rain, it was a pleasure to see the sun. I finished getting some more bags filled to put out for the trash on Friday and boxed up the last of the donation things for now. I need to set up an appointment for pickup since I'm out of room on my porch (glassed in) to store these things. I don't have a covered area to put my stuff out and it has to be outside by 8:00 A.M. on pickup day so I need to try to pick a day that hopefully will be dry. I'll be glad to be done with this, I'm dreading carrying those boxes and bags out of the house to set up in the driveway for pickup. I have one more drawer in my chest-of-drawers in my bedroom to clear out and organize and I'll be done with that. Unfortunately this is the proverbial junk drawer in my bedroom, but also has a bunch of sentimental things in it. I'll have to be ruthless with myself and throw most of it. It does feel nice when it's done and I see less things piled up around the house Take care everyone!

CJ, you've inspired me to get going on getting some things cleared out again. I have clothes that dh suggested I keep "in case". WEll I've maintained my weight for awhile now so I think I'm safe getting ridof larger sizes and if I do by some chance "find" a little I'll go to GW and get some to tide me over or if I decide to stay at the higher weight Ill just get enough to wear and not have tons of extras like I have been doing. Then sometime I need to get to the Christmas things. I have a lot that are fairly expensive ornaments and I don't want to just donate them or throw them away but I don't want to give them to dd either as her cats would just destroy them and it's too expensive to ship for ds and his family so I'll probably hold onto those for now. Dh had bought a LOT of Lights a few years ago and we've never used those either. I guess I should have a garage sale. And then there's always the garage.Last week I went thru the craft cave closet and was surprised to find I'd already bagged up a bunch of clothes that I though were still in there. I just wish i could figure out what to do with all these family photos
I did get the 3rd hotpad done and am nearly done with the cowl I'm making dgd to go with her hat.Now I'm going to go make out a list of what the final things will be for ddil to go with the hotpads
Have a great night everyone and get a good sleep

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Hope you can do some clearing out. I'm glad you are getting your projects done too. I admire you maintaining your weight loss and most people say it's best to get rid of the larger clothes. I did keep many of my larger size clothes because I have lost and gained weight so many times in my life and there is a style of clothes I like that is difficult to find these days. I hope I don't have to get in the really large ones again, but I can throw them out later. It's a nice, mild partly sunny day here, temps in the 50s and going up to the 60s tomorrow, then snow on Saturday I went out earlier to do a bit of shopping. I had some good coupons for a drug store I wanted to use. I went in a grocery store and saw a new apple there - Ruby Frost. I bought one and ate it when I came home and it had a nice taste, a bit tart and firm. Here's some information on it: www.applesfromny.com/varieties/24-rubyfrost-newI like to try all the different varieties of apples I can find. It's just amazing how different they can taste. I also went in Target to get some of the large (2.5 gallon) Hefty zipper bags, since I've been sorting out and storing my fabric in those. I can get 6 or so folded yards of fabric in a bag. I organize by color or theme and then write on the front of the bag what it is. It's worked well but I let it get out of control last year and have lots of fabric just stacked up and not stored. So that's a project I need to work on. At least it's a fun one. Take care everyone!

CJ, yes, as I'm sure I mentioned dh was always telling me to keep clothes in case. Well I used to wear a plus size so when I got below that I got rid of those. Then I worked my way down. Now I can wear a 4 or 6 (I buy 6 because I like loose fitting clothes) so I've rid myself of all but 8's and 10's and am now thinking of donating the 10's. That's in jeans because that's all I ever wear unless I'm going to someplace where I need to dress better which I rarely do so time to get rid of a lot of the dressier ones and only keep a couple. And yes, I find it hard to find clothing suitable for my age. In buying jeans especially it's had to find some that are not the ones they call skinny jeans and those are definitely NOT for me.
I got those very large zipper bags and Target once. I haven't seen them anywhere else and they're so handy to have but I never get to that part of town. When I got them they were on clearance and I still have some even though it's been years since I bought them. I have crochet projects in them so I could use more. I may have to go over there when I take my car for it's oil change as that's in the same part of town.
Gotta go get breakfast...bbl

Happy Valentine's Day!
I did get to quilting this morning in spite of no caregiver. hb probably didn't move from his recliner while I was gone. One of the members brought scarves that belonged to her mil. I came home with a lovely lavender spring rectangular scarf with some small pattern and some embroidery. New never worn and purchased on a trip to Hong Kong years ago.
I like split pea and bean soup, a Thai chicken soup I made from a recipe in Sunset magazine years ago. Most homemade soups. I like less salt than restaurants use. I make vegetable cream soups without cream!
We had snow last night, a few inches. The snowman has been here. There will probably be more snow tomorrow. California is really getting hammered with rain, I see. The weather front ensures that we're going to get more cold weather. Today was a gift at 28 degrees with sunshine. Clouds are moving in again.

Good evening!
Hope that each of you had a lovely day- and if you celebrate Valentines day, a nice Valentines day.
Sue, so glad you got to quilting this morning. Well, I guess it was a good thing that Dh did not leave his chair this morning while you were gone. At least he did not get in to trouble. Your new scarfg sounds so very pretty- a lovely addition for spring!
Phyl- how was your trip to Outback? Guess you also got the organizing bug. That is a great idea to sort your scraps by color. Something I ought to do! How lucky that you had another quilt block that you could switch. Perfect- and also a little gift from God to make your quilting easier.
Ruth- yes I think its a good idea to get rid of those size 10’s.....GW has some nice clothes these days- that or a consignment shop. I knew you would finish the hotpads and the cowl. Well, you were almost done with the cowl. Are they going to be mailed out tomorrow?
CJ- ruby frost apples sound really good....will have to see if I can find them here. So target carries those large bags? I used to use them for work, and have been nable to find them. WIll have to check out target. Congrats on getting your declttering done! I have had to in the past pack up all my donations in clear plastic bags- because we were in for rain. Hope you do not have to do similar.
Worked this am, and babysat later on. Long busy day- I am looking forward to a 4 day weekend. Going to work on my pinecone wreath. Have a good night. Hope Meg is doing well and that Janet is healing quickly G

Sue, I'm glad you were able to get to quilting especially since you were gifted with what sounds like a really beautiful scarf. I'm glad your hb stayed put while you were gone.
CJ I just read up on those apples. I see they're grown only in NY and the person that wrote the article I read (I forgot to click on your link) said the taste like cortland and MacIntosh. Cortlands were always my favorite apple and are not available here. I'm sure the Ruby Frost won't be available here either especially since they said they are released only once a year in a limited supply. I wish we would get a nice crisp tart apple here. I recently discovered Cara Cara oranges and love those. They're on sale this week so hopefully while out tomorrow dh will feel well enough to stop at that store. We have several errands to do.
Ginny, it sounds as if your day was as busy as ever. i do hope you'll enjoy your 4 day weekend. No the hat and cowl aren't going to be among the things mailed tomorrow. They are for a different dgd who's bday is in the middle of March and there's another thing I want to make for her. Also ddil's bday is in March and I still have other things to make for her also so that box which will contain the gifts for both probably won't be mailed till maybe early in March.
Right now I'm taking a break from gifts and making a really nice cable hat for which I found the pattern on the facebook group. It's easy, fun and looks really pretty in the picture and so far on my hook.
Get a good rest everyone and stay out of the cold

WEnt out and did errands and shopping. It is quite warm here today but the wind is bad. It still didn't feel cold though. I wish it would stay this way but it won't. I woman on another thread I post on keeps counting down the days till spring. Well it won't be spring here then...maybe if we're lucky a month later. Didn't get dh his pizza though because I called to order and they kept putting me on hold wasting my basic cell phone minutes. I'll get him one next time we're out.We came home, put away perishables, had breakfast which dh cooked while I did some cleaning up so I did some of my household chores and will do the rest tomorrow. I almost procrastinated and was going to wait till Monday forgetting that Monday is a holiday so no post office would be open.
In WAlmart I found some very cute buttons to put on my crocheted items.
See you all later. It looks as though everyone is busy.
Now I'm going to sit and crochet the rest of the day

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here was in the 60s today, but cloudy. We are supposed to get a rain/snow (possibly) mix tomorrow. Fortunately it's been so mild it won't stick. I haven't been motivated to do anything today, so I didn't I did watch some quilting videos earlier and though you might like a link to this quilter's YouTube videos, she has some different projects: www.youtube.com/channel/UC84muzRZsd_FKpe8pQ14-CA/videos?view=0&shelf_id=1&sort=ddTake care everyone!

CJ- you have been so busy decluttering (and that takes a lot of motivation!) that I do not blame you for not doing much today. Hope you do not get much rain/ snow.
Ruth, sorry I mixed up your grandkids.....and the projects you make. Nice to get some errands done and shopping out of the way. Nice to hear that its not too cold, but a lot of wind can make things difficult. WHen I get to the store tomorrow I will see if Ruby frost apples are available here.
Got a little bit done on the pine cone wreath, which is coming along quickly. Busy day tomorrow......we get our taxes done. TOday Dd#1 came with DGS and DGS#2- DGD#1 had school. Nice to spend time with them but I got nothing done.
Sleep well all Ginny

CJ, after all the days in a row you've worked on your decluttering and organizing you certainly deserve a day off! Thanks for the links. Well it was sure nicer and warmer there than here Ginny, I don't know how you could not get all my projects and grandkids mixed up. I have so many and talk about so many it's amazing I even keep it all straight. Dh keeps saying they're lucky they have me because he can never keep things like their ages and their birthdays straight. I've been working on the cable hat which turn out to be challenging. Not easy like I said it was last night. That often happens with me. Anyway the pattern designer had a unique way of having you do the cable stitch and I had a hard time figuring out what she meant. Finally after studying the picture several times I figured it out.She said go behind the stitch you made after skipping two when you go back to do the stitch in the ones you skipped. Finally figured out that she meant you had to hold that first stitch bent down and do the two stitches so they end up behind the first stitch...not like in all other cables but once it's figured out it makes a nice looking cable. She really needs to make a video. Don't mention the T word . I have to get busy and do mine but it won't be for a couple weeks.
