Good afternoon!!
Phyl- glad you stayed home in the snow....overall did you get much snow? I am happy to hear that you figured out the snowflake in time for Tuesday....what are you doing with it, is it part of a quilt?
Ruth, scrunchies are adorable, hopefully easy to make and seem to be popular these days. Hope you are enjoying a low stress gift to make....gee is your computer still misbehaving??? Hope not!
CJ- listening to music is a wonderful pastime. I started putting on a radio station I like, and have found it makes even routine stuff like housework and decluttering. BTW, you are the decluttering queen!! I am happy for you- in that awhile back you were concerned that you would not find the motivation to do all this work. Keep it up.....the end result is worth it. I will pray for you that you can find a reasonable and suitable location to relocate to. I did check out the Pat Sloane blog - and agree that #28 DIana Brewer is one of the prettier blocks. Some of the other blocks were painful to look at, but I hope that when the entire quilt top is done that those off colored ones will make sense. (Trying hard to be optimistic here!)
As far as my BOM goes, I will see what the other 2 women are doing and, perhaps choose a third. I suspect that one will do the Kansas troubles fabrics (she loves that line of fabrics). Not sure what Pastors wife will pick.....my order of fabrics pallette would be country sampler, kansas troubles, country batiks and then bright batiks. Rest assured I would not do bright batiks....that just is not me.

you are all so knowledgeable about fabric!! I love hearing about the various ones but have no idea what they are.I loved that block too and several of the others but as you both said, some needed help. But at least they tried. Same on the crochet groups..you sometimes wonder why a person would post some of those projects because some are so ugly or are sloppily done but at least they're trying like the quilt people.
Well I finally figured out what the problem is with my laptop. It's the keyboard. I found that out by trial and error so now I have the trusting little bluetooth keyboard that we were talking about last week.I probably wouldn't have even thought of using it if you, Ginny, had't mentioned yours. It's kind of hard getting used to using it because it's smaller than the regular keyboard on the laptop and is not connected to anything so it wobbles. I'm sure I'll get used to it and that's better than having to buy a new laptop and getting fixed...well that would probably cost more than the laptop is worth
Welll last night I did switch to dish/washcloths. I started one in a color I wasn't sure of on the roll but crocheted it's very pretty.I need to get these gifts done as I need to mail them probably by the 12th or so so that gives me about what...3 weeks? I also want to make 3 EAster baskets to send. I made them all Easter baskets back when there were only 5 of them in 2009 and I'm sure some are not looking too good now so I need to make at least two.
See you all later and have a great day and great week.

hi, the snowflake is a table runner. red and white. over a hundred pieces in it.that's probably why it took me a couple of years to get up the guts to cut it out. some are small pieces.
so I just work on it when I feel like it.
today I tore apart a small wall hanging. was not finished.I can see instead of using white squares,I will use the black background with the mittens on it. you can look up hang in there by chris gilman on google.
the hanging has a square hanging down from the wall hanging.
I tried to find amecian girl dolls socks here for the leg parts. can't find any. toy sections in stores do not have them. you have to buy a whole doll outfit to get the socks. to order online they are expensive and shipping is high.
today I got the idea to look in the babies department.
oh iti s 11 pm her time for bed. nighty ,nite.phyl

phyl, I didn't see a mitten one but I did see one called runaway quilt block. It's so cute!! You talking about American girl doll socks reminded me that one time I was looking for underwear for Barbies. I was so amazed that when I went to a local store... I was visiting ds and his family at the time....I found them in there right away.
My laptop keyboard is working fine now. I don't know what the problem was but it seems to have resolved itself now that I connected up the wireless keyboard. I don't need that one now but it's good to know it's available and works if I need it again.
I finished that discloth and did finishing work on a bunch of other items I had made and didn't weave in ends for and a hat that I started a couple weeks ago and had only half done. The dishcloth was hard to do because each stitch was sc, ch1, sc into the same stitch and then on the rows after that you went into the ch1 space but that space was so hard to see. So now I'm reverting back to a tried and true dish/washcloth pattern that's easy. I'll do challenges later when I'm not trying to get birthday things done.
Everyone must have been busy today so hopefully we'll see CJ, Sue, and Meg tomorrow and more of Ginny and Phyl

Phyl- yes many have a lighter machine to travel to class with.....glad you are able to do that as you attend classes a lot.... I thought that AC moore sold socks for American Girl dolls and am surprised that Amazon or ebay does not have them.
Ruth, that is why we have tried and true patterns....and there is lots of time to learn new patterns. Dish towels are great for that!! Small and managable but if you do not like the pattern, not a lot of work was wasted. Glad your computer woes are straightenend out.
We leave to babysit in a little while. I did get some straightening up of some crafting supplies, but no crafting. Will be heading to Joanns tomorrow- Dh has an appointment tomorrow and its near Joanns.
Hope everyone has a lovely day Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I got a late start yesterday and in the afternoon worked on sorting out my fabrics. I thought it would be a lot of fun, but it was tiring! At least I have it sorted now and stored in the large Hefty bags. I made of list of the "categories" and I'll type that up for reference. Although I would love to store my fabric on a nice rack, I don't want to have to worry about buying one and bringing it in the house - so I just have the fabric stored in storage totes and that works well. These fabrics were all ones that are one yard or more. I still have a bunch of precuts that I need to go through and organize again. Today I went to a local quilt store that is moving to a new location (not far from the current one). They wanted to get rid of some of their fabric inventory and were selling some fabrics at $5 a yard. It was a great deal since most of these are $10-$15 a yard regularly. I bought 5 different fabrics (7 yards total) for $35. The owner said that she plans to have more classes at the new location so I'm hoping they'll be some I'd like to take. The weather here is cold, but sunny today. It's supposed to snow tomorrow morning and then turn to a mix and finally rain by the end of the day. That's works for me so I don't have shovel the snow, I'll let the rain do the work Take care everyone!

If I went to classes I'd definitely want a light machine to take back and forth.
CJ, you're doing so great in organizing and deciding on things you can live without. I got a few things disposed of today too and am planning on bagging up some more of my clothes to donate and I sure wish dh would get to going thru some of his.It sounds as if you got some great bargains at the quilt shop and also that she might have some good classes when she's settled into her new location
Ginny, well organizing craft supplies is crafting right. Was tonight Bible study night?
I did finish dgd's cowl to go with the hat and I also worked on a dishcloth. I spend too much time looking at the projects the people in the crochet groups are doing.I not only spend too much time but then I'm tempted to start other things instead of finishing up my birthday gifts.
Have a good night everyone

Good morning!!
CJ- bet all those hefty bags of fabrics must look awesome......from chaos to neat organization. Job well done and it must feel great for you. Having the fabrics in bags is great- easy to move it necessary and still pretty easy to access. I would imagine the process of going through smaller scraps of fabric would be tedious and frustrating, although for a quilter, a necessity. (My fabrics are disheveled....so I know). That is exciting about the quilt shop moving closer to you! I wonder if she would take requests- perhaps if you asked for a certain type of class she would offer that. Most of these smaller shops are very customer service oriented. They have to be. Nice job getting a great deal on fabrics too. Think you are in for a wet day today....(glad the roof is repaired!). For you, I suppose rain. For me, its snow.
Ruth, gosh you got a lot done between the cowl, the hat and the dishcloth!!! I hear ya, looking at patterns online can waste out a ton of time...and if I did, I would get NOTHING done. Perhaps you could allow yourself a. “Searching Saturday”- one day that you allow yourself time to browse online for new patterns etc.....its great for getting ideas and seeing what others do....but sometimes its just frustrating. That is why I like it when CJ posts stuff for us to look at- I let that count as my searching time and let it go at that!!!
Schools up here are closing early due to the snow (supposed to start at noon here). Got no crafting done yesterday. But my NEW fiskars rotary arrived!! Its an older model, but still brandy new.......and really can be used for lefties like myself. Good company....great customer service.
Gotta get myself busy doing some housework, I guess. Wanna see if DH will go for a walk. Yes its cold, but the excercise is good. G

Yes Ruth, Monday night was study night, which was cancelled. Our leader has both her “senior” parents living with her, and her mom ended up going in the hospital for issues with her heart..... You have a good memory. G

Hi, Phyl suggested I check out this thread. I kind of a wanna be quilter. Haven't gotten into the pieced stuff a lot but really like reading what you're all doing. I live in MN, snow country. Quite close to the Twin Cities. There's only one quilt shop close to where I live and I've only been there once. Wasn't nearly as nice as the one I went to with Phyl when we visited them.

Hi Betty! Hope you'll stay and hang out here! I think more. About crafty sewing and crochet type things than I do! Right now I'm waiting in the dentis office for hb. Thinking about crafty things counts, too.
The roads are fairly clear, but it's only 16 degrees. I heard lots of cars on I-90 and the main road to the next town are in the ditch this morning. It's amazing that people don't realize that yesterday's melt has frozen overnight and they need to slow down.
We have several quilt shops here, an active guild, several splinter groups, spinners, knitters, and embroiderers. I go to one of the splinter groups that meets weekly.
