Yes Ginny, it's amazing the things that little babies can get into. Is she walking yet. Even crawling they can always find the worst things to pick up and put in their little mouths.
Yes that picture was indeed worth it's weight in gold. She was just sitting apparently chatting with her siblings and holding the doll on her lap.
It's kind of overcast here today but is expected to go up to 50 and althought the wind came up last night and was really howling it's gone now.
Last evening I made a bunch of coffee cup holders. I think I mentioned I was going to make some and I did. There is one actual pattern I used which makes a really nice one and is easy once I got out of my head what I thought the pattern writer meant by looking at the picture and realizing that I just needed to follow her directions. The other ones I made I just made up. Today I want to do the finishing touches that I had intended to do yesterday and get busy and finish the bunny.
Oh, I forgot, yes the trinket box is crocheted. With that I should have followed my instincts. I didn't think it would be sturdy enough that the side wouldn't collapse with a lid. I did use a smaller hook to make the stitches denser. Without the lid it sits well and will hold coins, jewelry, etc esp after I put the lid inside to act as a stabilizer.
Again today my laptop keyboard is working.. strange but I like it.

Good evening! Ruth, congrats on your keyboard working!! These darned things are so moody....I know sometimes my keyboard cooperates and sometimes not. Gee you have been busy, or I have had my head in a paper bag. I had no idea you attempted a trinket box- what an adorable idea!! And those coffee cup holders are an excellent idea....a way to have hot coffee/tea/cocoa and not burn your hands. Sometimes directions are like that, in which you just have to follow them...and eventually it all makes sense. The picture with Dgd holding the doll sounds adorable and must have really brightened your day.
Busy day babysitting and Dd and the kids stayed for dinner (which we both cooked together). A fun but tiring afternoon.
During Dgd’s nap I started the layout of the quilt...the border fabric selection will make or break this quilt for sure. Hope to finish the layout tomorrow and sew it over the weekend. No, DGD is not walking really yet....she can take a step or two and then chooses to sit down.
Ds is all stressed out. They are going through some cut backs at work- we are hoping that the state does not close the facility he works in. Its a stressful time for him....
This tired woman is going to bed. Good night all Ginny

Ginny, even the most fun guests can be exhausting so even if your dd did help cook the meal, I'm sure you're tired. Yes I saw the trinket box online so thought I'd try it. I even tried it with two strands of yarn to make it sturdier but that didn't work well for me. I'll be praying about your son's job.
Phyl, well it's better to have more things with you than you really need than to get there and find that you've forgotten something you really needed to have along. Yes I'll be praying for you family that they either don't make the trip at all or have a safe trip. Yes it is in the hands of the Lord. Sometimes it's hard not to still be very concerned. my son lives in southeast Indiana and used to live in Ky because he works in Ky. I don't like that he has to drive 40 miles to work and again home each day.
I didn't get done all that I had planned today but I still have time. I did finish the cup holder I started last night and worked on the bunny and I'll try to get the remaining parts done tonight. I also got the buttons together that I need to sew on the cup holders and on the eyeglass case
CJ, I hope all is well with you. And Meg and Sue I hope you are both doing ok too.Sue I hope you're feeling better.

Good morning!
Phyl, guess you leave today for your retreat....prayers will be with you that all goes well. Safe travels for you and your family and that right decisions are made if travel id done. The Lord will watch over them and protect.... Like you I would worry about Dh when he commuted and am still concerned when Dd and Ds make the long drive to work. Anyway, its a good thing you are so well prepared for your weekend away. Relax - lets hope you have a really wonderful time.
Ruth, is the trinket box a project you would try to make again? I am curious how that would be constructed (got some idea in my head though). What yarn did you end up using? I would imagine that cotton yarn could work well for that as it tends to hold shape better. Hope you were able to finish the bunny, or at least get as far as you can.
Slept a lot last night.....I am going to continue on the quilt layout as I have been- the construction will be random as opposed to in a pattern. Honestly, I do not like it all that much, but am hoping that with the right border it will pull it all together. Ha ha ha
Looks like we are in for a weekend of snow. 3 different systems.....one each day.
CJ, Meg, Sue and Betty, hope each of you is doing well..... BBL Ginny

Good morning all you crafters and those that would like to be crafters. According to our definition you are a crafter even if you're thinking of doing some kind of craft sometime in the future.
Ginny. I think that many times when we make something it doesn't look right to us but when it's done and ohters see it they think it's fantastic. We are often our own worst critics.I look at other people's projects on the crochet groups and often think that others are making much nicer things than I am but then I realize that they are probably many times, thinking the same thing.
I started on the trinket box with cotton yarn. The pattern writer said she used acrylic. I tried double cotton and single cotton and this last one I actually finished is acrylic...RHSS I think. She claimed that the sides were sturdy. What actually happened is the lid turned out smaller than the body of the trinket box itself but even if it had been large enough it would have weighed it down. No I don't think I'll be making anymore of these but they do have a lot of patterns for them on pinterest. I think if I made another I'd make it over some kind of container.
On the bunny, I got the head and body done and one arm. So I still have another arm, the two legs and the two ears to do. After I get this done I may concentrate on scrunchies to send. I need to have the box packed and realy to shop on Thursday when we go out to dh's eye doctor app't.
Ginny, sorry to hear about the storms headed your way. Dh says we're in for a few days of -10 weather next week. I hope there's not too much snow on thursday. Dh has put off this doctor app't long enoughl
Have a good day everyone. I hope we'll hear from the rest of our group today.

Absolutely right there Ruth!! Remember how long I posted for (WEEKS- MONTHS) that I was simply dreaming of crafting and looking at/hearing about all the cool stuff you ladies were making. During certain seasons of our lives, we are just here to learn about each others fun crafts.. or read about them.
Well, I learned a lot this morning. Dd has a stomach bug- she stayed home from work (and she should have as she was vomiting). My stomach has been funky- and I found out this am that the erythriol (a sweetener) that Dd #1 put in her food last night, irritates my IBS. Go figure. (Sometimes breathing irritates my IBS, ha ha ha). Honestly, I had no idea- but learned one more piece of the puzzle. Going to head to the store to get a few items that might make Dd more comfortable.....and try to stock up for the second round of snow tomorrow.
Got some laundry done and other wise am enjoying a quiet day. Me too.....hope others check in later on, but its great just chatting with Ruth too!!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope you enjoy your retreat and I hope your family has safe travels. Ginny - I'm happy to hear you are working on a quilt, but sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope it goes away and doesn't get worse. Hope you are safe with the weather you are getting. Ruth - Do you have a link for a picture of the bunny you are making, I'd love to see what it's going to look like. Meg, Sue and Betty - Hope you are getting in some crafting. Sorry I was missing for a few days, I was caught up in getting ready for the donation pickup yesterday. I ended up with 7 boxes and about 10 bags of things. They came around 3 PM, and I was glad, I'd been feeling like they wouldn't come. I also put out 10 bags of trash that was picked up today. Still have about 8 bags for next week. So I was just tired after all the lifting and carrying over the last few days. I'm pretty much done upstairs now, except for going through a few drawers in my father's chest of drawers in his old bedroom. I've made a list of what is left to do downstairs, so hopefully I can just take them one at a time and finish them. I feel like I'm running out of steam, but I know I can't stop now. I just really want to get this done soon. I did press some fabric today for 3 small projects I'm working on - a pillow and 2 table toppers. I'm just using up some scraps to make these just for fun projects. The weather here has been O.K. Cold, and we did get a bit of mixed precipitation over night, but nothing stuck to the roads. The next week is supposed to be in the 30s/40s, so still cold for here. I'm fine with it, I like the colder weather this time of year. Take care everyone!

Well I just deleted my post...dumb me. Ginny, yes erytritol is a sugar alcohol and they do that. Some doctors actually use them as laxatives. All the "tol" do the same thing but you probably knew that already. That's why I don't eat sugarless candy because almost all of them have sorbitol. I hope it's out of your system soon and you and your dd feel better CJ, wow that must be a huge load off your mind to be rid of so much "space filler". That's a LOT of stuff to have gone out of the house! Because of you and also a woman on the ohter thread I post on who is always getting rid of things I've been inspired. Yesterday I burned a whole bunch of personal paper work and today went thru my desk and got rid of more...put in the pile to burn in next wood stove fire. Well those temps sound downright balmy to me, It was 38 here today and I went to the mailbox and it felt great. Starting tomorrow though high's of 12 and around that for the next five days. Luckily Thurs forecast says hight of 41. And no luck at the mailbox. Pharmacy forgot to mail dh's meds so he will again run out before they arrive. I even ordered early so that I could get a little surplus going which is now not going to happen. CJ, it was a toss up between two bunnies and this is the one that I decided on but I might make the other one too....maybe. I'm going to make embroidered eyes though not the safety eyes they show there engsidrun.spire.ee/blogs/blog1.php/pattern-small-bunny

The bunnies are adorable! Thanks for posting the patterns, Ruth.
CJ, that is a huge amount of things you have been sorting and moving around.
Phyl, I hope the retreat is fun for you and a restful, relaxing opportunity!
Ginny, you are a great cheerleader. I'm glad to know that my crafting time will come someday.
The snow is up to the top of the street signs in our subdivision because of the height of the plowed snow.. We had a few more inches of new snow last night. The snow plow guy eventually came and cleared the driveway last night. A little more snow tonight ...
I have four more emails to add to the probate attorney's collection. They are getting worse. I printed them out for hb to read. He said the gibberish doesn't make any sense. I've already sent copies to my attorney.
This morning I met with my good friend the flooring person. I think I now have flooring, cabinets and paint picked out for the duplex unit that was so badly damaged.
From there I went to get dog food. They had one small bag of what I wanted. I usually go to petsmart, but it's farther away, and the streets were treacherous. This should last a few days. I didn't get to the post office but did fill up the gas tank.
It's going to be a lot colder again for three days. Oh, my goodness. Quilting was cancelled because of the weather yesterday. I went to the bank and the grocery store. I'm better but not enough better to run around in this weather. Today's high was 23, going down to -8 tonight.

Hi crafters. Finally dug out the scarf I've been working on for about 3 years. May get it done by next winter. It's a complicated pattern.
Spent the morning yesterday cleaning and then DH had cardiac rehab. He doesn't drive anymore so I get to take him. Had been snowing all morning so roads were not so great. It's about a half hour one way. Clear and cold today.

Betty, It's great that you got out your UFO/WIP. I have many of those, mostly baby blankets that need edging and a border maybe. I just got an email yesterday from a crochet blogger talking about planning in order to get your unfinished things finished. I may try to do that. Is your scarf knitted or crocheted? I can do both but in knitting I've never tried anything complicated except one time a palindrome scarf...cable that shows the same on both sides...and it turned out great except that I didn't make it long enough. I even had to rip it back to correct mistakes and that actually worked. I sure was shocked and I still consider myself a real novice in knitting.
Waiting while your hubby does cardiac rehab is a good time for crafting but not so sure about a complicatedpattern during wait times. Be careful in all that snow.
Well it snowed in the night, is still snowing and is now 6 degrees. Well that's better than minus numbers.I can't wait till spring and even will not complain when it gets too hot. To me too hot is better than too cold.
I did get all the bunny parts made even the tail I had forgotten about. I didn't get that put together yet though. I have to make those plans I mentioned above and get that done.Putting parts together and embroidering on the eyes and nose are not my favorite things. So I will make a plan for this week having all done and wrapped and packed for Thursday.I want to write some letters too to mail while I'm out. So today's plan is to finally bite the bullet and get all the things together that I'm sending and finish them by adding the buttons and weaving in ends, except the bunny and scrunchies which will be...bunny put together tomorrow, scruchies..some today some tomorrow. Then on to the rest starting Monday.

Happy Saturday all!!
CJ- that is a ton of stuff that you got rid of! I can imagine a sense of panic must have set in, it by almost 3 they had not come to pick up your donations. Experience I have had is that they do show up....the one time I thought they were not coming, the truck arrived 10 minutes after I called and a second truck came because I had called. Anyway, its a big relief for you that you are getting rid of so much, clearing out so much and are set to get rid of more next week. Yes, its tiring.....and a lot of work. Nice to hear that you have some smaller projects lined up...which are nice to have because they take less time and give a feeling of accomplishment.
Ruth, thanks for posting the bunny links! Both are adorable....Gee you are going through a lot of papers.....also a lot of work to get done. Having a wood stove is great- an easy way to get rid of all those papers. I spoke to my SIL the other day, and heard it took her 3 hours to go through all the papers to get rid of everything that had a name, address or bar code. 3 hours!!! (They do not have a way to burn the papers). What a waste of time. Burning is so much easier. Hope that Dh’s meds arrive soon....
Sue, your restoration plans for the subunit seem to be coming along well. When will the work begin? Think the last thing you want is more snow and really cold weather. Keep on sending those emails on to the attorney......sounds like your DS’s SO is not stable.
Phyl-are you all set for the retreat?? Glad everyone is safe....and hopefully will complete their travels in safety.
Did some straightening up today, but I do not have much energy. Hoping to spend a little more time on quilt layout...We got 3 to 4 inches of snow here. Sounds like we are in for quite a bit more Monday am. Ginny
