The work was started on the duplex three weeks ago. Waiting for word on testing possible asbestos in popcorn ceiling. Once that's down, things could probably be finished in ten days.
The weather forecast didn't call for snow, but it's snowing.

Here too Sue, snow wasn't forecast but it is still snowing. I didn't know there could be asbestos in popcorn ceilings. That's what we have but our house was builtin 1080 so I don't know that they still used asbestos then. Of course I don't really know anything about it so I'm probably wrong. Here's the link for the trinket box I made although I think the pattern calls it a jewelry holder. As you see they say use #3 yarn, sports weight, or dk as it's called in UK...it's all #3. They said to use a G hook which I did but I used ww yarn to make it sturdier so I can imagine it would be even less sturdy with the #3. The picture is pretty but no I don't think I'll ever make more.they do have some nice little baskets and boxes on pinterest that I might look into sometime I do have three hats done for my March collection. I want one for each day this month. The one I'm going to work on today is called the Catherine hat. I like it because it was my dh's stepmother's name and she was such a nice woman. www.crochethooksyou.com/crochet-jewelry-bowl-pattern/I haven't gotten very far on my plans for today but I did get my watch that I bought 3 months ago set finally and I did get a few yarn ends woven in. Now I have to find my buttons that I did have down here the other day.I'm sure they're under some piled up yarn.

I had to stop in because I'm taking a little break. I made the hat. I have to pull the top in and weave in the ends but I'll do that in a minute and have it completely done. It's just a toddler size so doesn't take long.I really like the pattern. I may have to do a lot more of these. There is another hat that I like ( and have already done 4 of)and the possibilities of making it look completely different from hat to hat are vast.Using different colors in different row combinations really does change the look a lot but it's fast and easy and also warm so it's a good choice for donating. This Catherine one not so much. it has a lot of open spaces but I would think still fairly warm. I'm also going to make quite a few of the first one I made for my son's oldest son before I found out that he was going to Taiwan where the climate is tropical except in the mountains. That one is very warm. It's almost like a thermal stitch in that it's made so that it's like two layers made in one.
I hope that you've all had a wonderful day and will have a good restful night

It's very cold. I just counted the dogs three times to make sure they're all in. The temp is going down to -18. Good night! I hope everyone is asleep! I think I'm the farthest west, but Ruth is probably on mountain time, too!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - thanks for posting the links for the bunnies, they are both so cute. One of those websites has some really cute crochet animal patterns. Hope those of you getting cold and snowy weather are alright. I always think the colder weather should be in December and January, but there usually is some cold/bad weather in March. And it will go from this to immediately warmer. I miss that we used to have a longer Springtime. I actually worked on my quilting some this weekend I made a few table toppers, a table runner (just the tops, still need to be quilted/finished) and I did finish the pillow with my father's cross stitch saying on it. Here's what the saying is: "May you never forget what is worth remembering, or remember what is best forgotten" I used a 12x16 pillow form and put a small inner border around the saying (which is on aida cloth) and then a larger border around the small one. I used a different fabric on the back. Here's the method I used to make my pillow cover, I've used this one several times and she really does a good job of explaining it and giving details: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhZnHhbcN-QI also like her tutorial for making a pillowcase and have made several using it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAomYjHzUQkTake care everyone!

CJ, it's good seeing you. My favorite country singer has a song called.. If We Make it Through December..in it some of the lyrics are "it's the coldest time of winter". Well that may be true where he was but not here. I think that Feb is usually the coldest, then March is still cold and even April and May have their cold days. Today the high will again be only 12 at most and it did get way below zero last night.Tomorrow things start warming up a little for the rest of the week. I love your father's saying. That pillow will be very special to you. I've always thought I'd make pillowcases. I'm going to check on the sites you posted. I really don't see myself using pillow cases I've made because I already have too many pillowcases but I think it would be a really cute thing to make for children or even adults if you made something special. I've never made pillows either. You sure got a lot done...all those table toppers and runners...wow My plans have changed. I wrote them all out yesterday and got some of them done. My plans always change. After I did that toddler hat I started another but you work the brim first and when I was almost done with it I looked back and saw that the first three rows were wider than the rest. I keep making that same mistake...not counting at least every other row and not looking back often enough to make sure things are even. So I need to rip that out and will start that over later. Right now I'm working on different eyeglass cases because I didn't like the one I made and I found a good pattern for another so I'll make this one for ddil and also dgd and use the other one I've already made for holding crochet hooks or something. Here's the link for the ones I'm making now persialou.com/crochet-glasses-pouch-pattern/I've also decided that I'm not going to mail this box this Thursday after all.I have time. I also can't seem to find the tags I just got in the mail which I wanted to sew on the hat I made for dgd and I also can't find the buttons that say "handmade with love" on them. I just saw both the other day but I looked yesterday and again this morning and couldn't find them so I'll have to look again later. I'm sure they'll turn up sometime.
