I got an email from the WW Research team this morning, asking me to complete a survey. You’d better believe I did!

I got an email from the WW Research team this morning, asking me to complete a survey. And I, as usual, received no such message. <thhhbbbpppttt>.

debinprogress, I wish I would get a survey like that. In fact, I think most of the people here would have plenty to tell them! HA! Are you a current member or former? I'm a LT so I'm not adding to their coffers so my opinion doesn't count I guess! Have fun!

WW had three focus groups: People sitting in meetings. People using the online program. People on the old message boards. They failed to tap any of those resources. This failure goes back years - precedes Mindy. I sat in meetings 5 years ago and watched the program (not the food program, the presentation piece) change for the worse. Without giving a hoot about what those of us sitting there thought. "Watch the video, listen to the sales pitch, and shut up and pay us." I used the online program. When I cancelled because I thought it was worthless, I was never queried about why I was leaving. I was on the message boards. As an enthusiastic member, as an unenthusiastic member, and then as a disgruntled non-member. At no time did any representative of WW express any interest in my opinion. (Unless you count my being "chastised" by a leader for my annoyance at some of the changes.) Until WW decides to listen to its members, to listen to its resigning members, and act like they might actually care about their customer base, they are doomed to continue to fail. That is the problem with its marketing - it is tone deaf. Thankfully for all of us, they've left the public with a plethora of plans, from way back when until today, that we can all use, and the materials are out there and we know how to use them so unless the meetings and/or online support offer something truly important and of value to members, there's really no incentive for me to every pay them a dime again. As someone else said, there are too many similar options on free apps that can support me to do the same thing with consistency and without making me feel like I'm missing out because I didn't buy their latest 'version'.

I’m LT over goal. I hope they seriously consider the survey responses. With all their talk about not getting back former members I would think you would be a prime target for them.

debinprogress I received the same email a couple of weeks ago.One was about online only and one was about other apps in addition to WW and also a survey on WW freestyle. They actually sent a followup email on the online only one and said they would research it but the one on WW and freestyle they didn't accept my review to even be published.I wonder why.At the time I had just canceled my online subscription and they said they were sorry I canceled but I won't hold my breath in them getting back to me on the freestyle survey. Oh and on the survey they asked if I would ever use or recommend the WW app to anyone and I said no.They asked which one I used and I said My Fitness Pal.They asked me why and I said because even if not all foods had points they still had calories. Not surprisingly they didn't have itrackbites as one of the apps they wanted to know about.

This morning there was a segment about Weight Watchers on Good Morning America. WW is now blaming Keto for the loss of members. I do not think they will ever really own up to making a mistake with Freestyle (and for me Smart Points) or the change in direction they made from being about weight loss to wellness (wellness is good, but I go to Weight Watchers to lose weight and to keep it off or at least attempt to keep it off). I did not see the segment, but I belong to a Points Plus Facebook page and they were talking about it and how WW thinks Keto is hurting their business.
There have always been other diet programs and Weight Watchers in the past has managed to stick around while those diet fads faded away because Weight Watchers focused on helping their members and supporting them on the weight loss journey. Now WW does not seem to know who they are or what the want to be. I guess Mindy is too young to know or perhaps even care how Weight Watchers survived while other plans failed. She might benefit from looking at the history of Weight Watchers.

I lost a good amount of weight on PP but I was hungry a good bit of the time but I still think it's a good solid plan.I do SP on ITB now because I lost about the same amount of weight on SP.I tried to go back to PP for a couple of weeks and I had the same problem in being hungrier.I guess I'm one who can stay away from the high sat fat and sugar but likes the point discount on lean meat.I also eat more carbs so it's harder for me to do PP because the lean meat has more points on the ones I normally eat.I'm sure with the maintenance and weeklies I could do it again but for some reason I am one of the few people who liked the old smart points before it changed to freestyle.I do still double track calories on MFP to make sure I'm getting enough calories.

I got my 2nd in a series of (I think - 6?) surveys for WW last week. I definitely believe after this 2nd survey they are going to give members the option -so to speak - the program to use.
The questions in this survey were geared towards 2 differently worded advertising paragraphs, but they basically meant the same thing, only they asked which one made WW more appealing. It spoke about taking an in depth personal assessment with questions, so that they could assign the perfect program for you - the individual. This really leads me to think that if they do this, that a lot of the assessment questions for new members, before selecting the program, will ask questions like "do you prefer structure" "do you like the freedom to choose" and so on. All this leading up to: drum roll please lol
the ability to use older points plans based on how you answer your initial member assessment.
They are frantically searching for a life jacket in the water right now I believe.
But, a day late and a LOT of dollars short. Those 3rd party apps are already giving us the option to choose which plan we follow. The only thing you would benefit from if you paid the overinflated WW price to be a member with the ability to choose which program of all of them would be the companionship and sense of belonging you would get (for some that is with Connect, for others it is the meeting and/or both)

jeanie, that’s interesting. I’m skeptical that WW would offer the ability to go back to older programs even though many of us would like that. For one thing it would be very difficult for staff to support in terms of questions/problems/solutions. Your description makes me wonder if they could be working on a new program that uses flexible formulas, food lists, etc., to tailor the food part of the program to individuals. Things like determining whether a member wants to control carbs, fat, sodium, etc., prefers processed foods, natural foods, lots of carbs, low carbs and more fat, etc. Of course such a major program shift and the technological implementation of such a program could very well be beyond their IT department’s capabilities. Whatever they do it will be interesting to see.
