With all of the bad press that WW is getting, they will need to come out with something new by May or June. I don't think they can wait until next November-December. They need the next quarterly earnings report to show an improvement.

How about the choice of 3 plans. Tiers if you will 1. 2. 3. Your choice based on your dietary needs and what fits best into your world. (As you can see I have NO idea what those plans would be lol but nice to have the option) Like someone mentioned earlier, expand the assessment and have the it suggest the best fit for you. Hey ! Isn't this EXACTLY like the survey? lol. Hand on my bible, I knew nothing about any survey going out.

I just don't see how WW can offer different tiers. How would the app work; it barely works now with 1 tier. They could offer simply filling or something like that as a 2nd choice but I just don't think they're capable of offering more than 1 program. How could multiple programs work in a meeting? They need to come up with a "tweak" to the current program that they say makes an improvement. I've read on connect that some people count points for a zero-point food if they have more than 2 of them a day. Not really sure how that would work either. Some people can definitely over eat on the zero-point foods and then when they add in their usual number of points, they don't lose weight.
We need to look at the copyright sites and see if there is something new in the works for WW. Mindy better get her "magic" going to get this ship back on track.

"I think you've got two parallel stories: Planet Fitness is an extremely well-run company with a fabulous brand and they know exactly what they're doing, while the new WW seems dazed and confused," the "Mad Money" host said." Anyone here have any experience with Planet Fitness? I looked into it and the reviews are not too good. Do you know that they have free bagel, pizza, and donut days? Candy at the front desk? Biggest complaint was cleanliness. I know it's inexpensive and I guess a lot depends on the individual center. The article referred to the business side of things and I agree---Planet Fitness markets itself very well to people who might feel uncomfortable in a gym atmosphere (which is why I was searching for info about it). The "No Judgment Zone" stuff, etc. They've even been featured in "The Biggest Loser" and "My 600-Pound Life." They do seem quite adept at marketing their product.

As a former Leader, I can't see how the employees could offer instruction and guidance on 3 different programs simultaneously. Members would leave orientation totally confused. Three different sets of program materials, or all in one booklet?
I think if they offered a Plan that brings back the GHGs, and offers some more structure (maybe menu plans?) it would help them get back on track. That, plus calling it WEIGHT Watchers, would go a long way.

fullmahina , how good a Planet Fitness is all depends on the individual facility. I formerly went to one that was a tiny, dark, pit -- old machines, rusty old bathrooms and always smelled bad. A new one opened down the street and it's absolutely beautiful. Three times the size, spotlessly clean, ventilated and all new equipment. The staff is constantly going around cleaning. I love going to it. I don't care about the pizza and bagels, I'm never there when it's being offered. There are Tootsie Rolls at the desk but fortunately I'm not a TR fan.

Three different sets of program materials, or all in one booklet? I remember during my last foray into meetings being told that we could switch between Freestyle and Simply Filling, and the capability to do so was included in the app. So it looks like they can handle two different plans, at least. An app could include multiple plans and I'm not sure it would be a heckuva difficult thing to incorporate. But yes, I could see where an orientation session might present some difficulties. The traditional January Rush might be troublesome. But I also believe that so many of us would know what kind of program we wanted to do when we walked in the door. Divide into groups, have the orientees look over the material, and then orient each group individually? Have online info available to help people decide which plan would work for them. And really---is this all rocket science? People do the online program without any human input whatsoever and many have done well with that, no leaders or guides or coaches. WW could kick up its online chat feature and encourage members who have questions to use it. Provide the WW Chat people with a flip book similar to the kind used by insurance company Dial-A-Nurse services. Give people real help when they need it, not just semi-educated guesses. The experiences I have had with WW online chat people is that you ask a question, they give you an answer, you say, no no, that's not what I am talking about, and then you get radio silence and the chat times out. Fabulous customer service. I guess my point is the orientation sessions are non-issues in the grand scheme of things. WW is tanking and the big picture calls for innovation and features that will pull back former members and inspire people to join. People want solid choices and options that will work for them, IMHO.

Linda, while I don’t think that Weight Watchers can ever be all things to all people, they certainly can design a program that allows members to specify the types of dietary control they want to achieve. For example, I would specify that I want to control blood sugar and the formula could encourage consumption of less carboyhdrates. Someone else might specify that they want to consume less sodium and the formula could penalize high sodium consumption. Or—perhaps—not penalize anything but just rate food choices Green-Yellow-Red or ABCDEF or 0-100 in terms of how they are meeting dietary preferences. WW’s food scientists are experts at designing these systems. It is the IT people who can’t implement stuff correctly. And if Mindy and her board are smart, they would realize it is time to pay top dollar and outsource the design and coding of the web site and apps to implement whatever they come up with completely and correctly the first time out. It will be interesting to watch while we are counting our calories.

When a Points-based Program was offered along with Core or Simply Filling, the points were calculated the same. What I mean is that the Core and Simply Filling members calculated their weekly points using the same forumula/calculator as the strictly Points members. What I don't see happening is 3 different Points-based programs being offered simultaneously. But what do I know? Roz

Do you know that they have free bagel, pizza, and donut days? Candy at the front desk? Seriously? So if I eat a slice of pizza while I'm on an exercise bike, do they zero each other out?

That gentleman looks like he's exercising really hard. Roz PF advertises itself as a "No Judgment Zone" so hey, no judgment.
