Political train wreck? About a week and a half two weeks ago WW changed their policy for Connect stating that you could no longer post anything political without stating why it affects your weight loss / Wellness. It seems a lot of people are in an uproar over the fact that you can post anything religious, underwear selfies, shirtless flexing (remember that they have also posted a rule about no nipples showing) but post anything about our current political environment and your post gets pulled reported or otherwise unavailable. To be honest a lot of long-time positive members are leaving. Canceling their memberships both online and in studios.
For the record if I don't like a post I scroll past it.

I probably should have checked the rules for this board to make sure it was okay to post this if it is not I am truly sorry for anyone that I have offended. I just find this to be humorous that with stocks plunging memberships going down and now this how it is all could be related

I'm currently not a paying WW member so I don't have access to connect, but it doesn't surprise me.

I'm not on Connect, but I don't understand why not being able to post political stuff would make people leave WW. Seems like a ridiculous overreaction to a social media policy.
Of course, even when I was paying for WW, I ignored Connect. The feet and belly shots were a bit too much.
There are plenty of places online to rant about your politics.

I can see their point. The political discussions and particularly the political check-ins on the old boards caused so much upheaval. I participated in one of them but soon realized it was nothing but an across the fence dung flinging contest with a check-in from the opposing side. People were even personally threatened.
It could be entertaining to read the vitriol, but really, what did it have to do with WW?

I gave up on Connect a long time. I just now scrolled through some posts and many people are unhappy with the new "policy". I also read a lot of people are unhappy with the Freestyle program and how many people have their own tweaks to "make it work". I hope WW corporate is reading through these posts and are paying attention. Someone in Corporate made the decision for the new policy or someone complained to them.
A lot of people are anxious to see the new program and I only hope that WW comes up with something new and improved soon.

I was on another site for a long time. They tried to have a political sub-forum, but people were just so hateful to each other that it was removed. It's hard to have a support based site when people are attacking one another.

Exactly what NatureLover said. ^^ It is why there are specific boards here for that (to keep the drama off the General type boards) and honestly they are the only boards that keep us busy, so I can just imagine what the WWCS goes through. Our one and only banning (member not spammer) was from one of those boards, just freaking loony toons how crazy some people get.

I'm on connect every day but missed the whole political mess. I just stick with the people I follow and ignore New and Trending.

So is their new policy that I can rant about politics as long as I end with "and it made me eat over my points?"

Happy to say I'm not involved with connect at all. The few times I read it I was not impressed.

I never got into Connect because it seems rather worthless to me especially with so many other options out there. I do, however, understand getting annoyed with political posts - FB is littered with them and they tend to not serve any other purpose than to cause conflict. The way I look at it? You aren't going to post anything that is going to change someone's mind politically...so if you're posting it, you're looking for a fight. And the majority of it anyway is half-truths and lies and the photos are so obviously photoshopped. I know a lot of smart people but when they post crap like that, I second guess them, lol!

It could be entertaining to read the vitriol, but really, what did it have to do with WW? I avoid all political posts other than private FB messages with a few close friends. Politics in general does not affect my day to day life and I refuse to be caught up in every social media post.

There was a troll on the Australian Connect awhile ago...commenting on ppl’s posts things like “you’ll never lose the weight so why bother?”
First there was a backlash from other members who instructed everyone else to block the user. Said user then tagged those users who had blocked her and added more personal insults. Because those ppl had used the ‘block’ function they never saw the posts they were tagged in (evil genius I say!).
A moderator (who looked to be a member of the public and not a WW staff member....but I may be wrong) posted for everyone to calm down when the troll wasn’t being dealt with by WW, instead, those protesting were read the riot act. The moderator left a post whining her job was incredibly difficult and there was lots to consider, and if you could see things from our end.....(yes, really!) so a few members (one extremely popular) went into self-imposed exile in protest.
That’s about as exciting as it gets here even when our Prime Ministers are ousted mid way through their terms.
