Wow, I am tired from reading all of the posts!
Woke yesterday to temp of 15 and today to temp of 60! It is also very windy.
Yesterday ended up a bust. I suddenly had my back seize up and it has been years since that has happened. I didn't do anything unusual but it took me out of the game for the day. Very few Fitbit steps, no gingerbread, no shopping downtown. I watched Hallmark movies that I had DVR'd and talked for a long time to my sister on the phone.
Nursed it back to normalcy with Advil, a heating/massage pad and some energy medicine techniques.
Today I was able to take my morning walk, on the third load of laundry and have the gingerbread chilling in the fridge to roll/cut/and bake later.
deb~Does~WW I will let you know how the recipe is. I am not a big cookie monster so a 2 SP gingerbread will be satisfying to me. I could do some damage on chocolatey type cookies or the 7 layer bars I made last year but I am staying away.
I did tell a neighbor I would come by later if my back is okay for a wine gathering but will have some SP's ready for that.
@beckyw2016 So glad you are doing okay and that the doc removed the BP meds. Yay!
ksbruns enjoy the birthday dinner and we can party here tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. pbnj,I'm so sorry about your SIL.Prayers for peace in the family as they mourn. linda72,You may be going out but I'm not budging. It is 26 here right now actual temp and I don't feel like a wuss.I'm cold. That wind is terrible. I lost 1.2 lbs last week and was able to get off my high BP pills(after falling and blacking out on Wednesday)but oh well,at least I'm off of them. Someone can send me some nice warm cookies today.I will take them.I don't think so. Have a great day and stay warm everyone! I'm glad you weren't hurt, Becky, but congrats on the meds! I still have to take ½ a pill, every time I ever tried to go off, I would skitter back up. Good job!

Its really warm here in SC, too! I just took a walk and I am sweating. I prefer cooler weather this time of year. But not subzero temps:) Being from the Midwest, I miss some cold, hard to get in the Christmas Spirit! Yeah, I can't envy you, Linda. It was hard to move back to TX after having the seasons change (for better or worse, LOL) in the NE.

Beth, I thought my back was going to seize up on me one day last week, but fortunately STOPPING right then and putting some heat on it, seems to have saved me. It is such an awful feeling...I'm glad you're better! I would love for you to share with me some of your energy techniques...LOVE that kind of therapy. I had MFR yesterday, do you know what that is? I call it PT most of the time, but I believe it falls in the energy therapy description. Feel better!

Kathy, thanks. I just sent you some info. via PM to give you the lowdown.
Wish I could say that my back is all better but it is about 75% better than yesterday. Taking it a step at a time today but I can walk and get up with pain so I'll take it.
Lunch and then I will roll the gingerbread and make the little guys. I do plain cookies without icing.

Linda, thanks for the info. I didn't roast them though, I sautéed them. Roasting would be easier with so many of those little suckers but it sounds like what you read is saying you can only roast them up to 4 hours ahead of time. And I don't know if they would be as good roasted. I mean, there's something to be said for sautéing those babies in bacon grease & butter (did I say that, lol?). Well, if my SIL wants me to make them, I have to absolve myself if they're not so great on Day 2.

Well, I tried to insert a pic of the little gingerboys but I don't have a clue what I am doing. It asked for a URL and I have it on my phone and my computer.
I didn't decorate them so the picture was just for practice.
As far as the Skinnytaste gingerbread cookies go....I like them but they taste more like a biscuit than a cookie. The icing, which I did not use would most likely add more sweetness. They are just what I like with a cup of tea. Again, I like less sweet than most people. They have brown sugar, molasses and natural applesauce for sweetening.
Sure smelled good while baking. Easy recipe.

It's been an amazing day!
ShopRite had everything I needed, much of it at SALE PRICES. Then I wanted to go to the mall.
Toots thought we were going to ONE store but after success at the Hallmark store (ornament for the Zigster - the LAST ONE of the 7 I needed - and 20% off) I got sidetracked into Macy's Last Act as we headed back to the car. I have NEVER WILLINGLY stopped randomly to shop for clothes - kitchen items yes; clothes NO. And I found a tunic in sz L that I liked, after I'd already convinced myself that the XL was too big. But when I tried it on I had to head back to the racks (the disorganized, all-over-the-place racks)... to try to find an M. Which fits beautifully and was marked down from $49.50 to $14.03. But wait... should I tempt fate (and earn a bunch of steps) by trying to replace my circa 2001 yoga pants, from the trendy exercise-wear department at the other end of the store? Why, YES. Those are an L, are more like leggings, and were marked down from $34.50 to $16.99. And I used a gift card that the cathedral had given me last year. So $84.00 > $31.02 > free to me.
Silly, SILLY but oh-SO-satisfying ADDITIONAL NSV: this will be my new weigh-in outfit for meetings. It weighs the same 17oz as the clothes I'm replacing. The. Same. Seventeen. Ounces.
I have Christmas angels dancing around in my head in amazement right now.
Sunday Steak Dinner at Longhorn was its usual satisfying meal, with enough salad to share at supper. And the waitress comped our beverages - more Christmas cheer!
Now we're watching football and making lists (and checking them twice) to be sure we have everything covered, heading into the Christmas weekend.

sullicat1 Everything is better sauteed in bacon and butter! You could saute them the day before and bag them when they are cool. Then, the next day, bring the bag to DS and let them sit out to come to room temp. Just before serving, put them on a foil lined pan and into a hot oven (450 or broil) for 4 or 5 min. to warm them while you are setting out the food. I've done this with green beans and they warmed up fine. Good luck!

Sure smelled good while baking. Easy recipe. I'm with you on liking foods less sweet.A friend sent DH 2 slices of buttermilk pie and I tasted a small bite and yuck it was full of sugar.I can't believe I'm saying that but I was diabetic for 7 yrs and I learned to get off sweets and now most of them taste too sweet for me.I also think almost anything tastes good with hot tea.I enjoy that just by itself.

Checking in after fun day at my brother and sister in laws. My sister drove so we didn't have to deal with uncovering our car or the snowy streets. Luckily she and her hubby live close. Tomorrow highs are supposed to get to the 40s, so we'll be able to get out and about. Definitely smiling!
