Good morning! Another week begins- good to see Phyl, Sue, Ruth and CJ check in late.
CJ- that quilt is adorable!! Hope that you make it. I know it will be so bright and cheery. Were the half friangles precut?
Ruth, glad you did not over do shovelling, but a nice thing that you gof some excercise in.
Sue, so the dogs braved it.....and that is a LOT of bohemian waxwings, I have only seen one or two in my life. They are beautiful birds.
Phyl, so glad you are safe.....and I will pray that you continue to stay safe from the floods.
Gotta go get a workout in before babysitting G

Hello and Happy Monday.
I got just two of ddil's gifts wrapped when dh got up then we decided to go get his glasses and test drive a pickup truck. Well then when I was backing up out of the driveway I hit a snow drift and we were stuck there for about an hour digging it out. Went to the car dealer and I drove the gigantic truck. It's a used one, not all that old but almost 200,000 miles but an excellent price despite that. I did like it but it didn't seem right to me on acceleration so we didn't get it. I thought we should have a 4 wheel drive vehicle but now we'll just keep looking. Did a little shopping at the Walmart where the vision center is then just came home. Then we cleared a little more snow out of the driveway and tomorrow and wed I'll have to clear out in front of the new car so that I can get it out to take Thurs for it's six month maintenance. We also have to go out this week to have labs done and that's when I'll mail the package to dgd and ddil.
Crocheting is in the forecast for tonight.

Good evening!
Ruth, hope that there was no damage to the car from hitting the snow drift! And I guess you and Dh got a bit of a work out getting the car dug out. Anyway, you are both safe, and that is good. Guess a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be a good idea, if your winters are that severe. Absolutely wait for the right deal at the right time.No sense buying a truck unless it is the right one for you. I just realized from your post that you were in the old car this am....good thing, as I am sure another minor scratch or two from hitting a snow drift would not be noticed on an older car. Gosh the new car is 6 months old already?? Hope you got your crochetting time in this evening
After babysitting, came home and got dinner on...then went with Dd to the florist to order the flowers for the wedding. no babysitting tomorrow as DGD#1 came home sick from school, so she will stay home. I am working tomorrow but will have the rest of the day off once I finish in the am.Time for bed Good night all G

Ginny , yes I was actually driving our SUV as the old car still has rock hard snow packed in the engine compartment which would keep the fan from turning and probably burn out the engine. We don't drive the SUV much because it, of course bigger than that little car and so uses more gas. No not damage from getting into the drift but all that trying to get it unstuck could have caused some damage to the transmission or brakes and/or tires but I didn't notice any. Thank you for caring.
Get a good night's sleep. I guess dgd#1 got the illness the baby and dgs had. Are they feeling better.
And already 30 views of our thread. Too bad some of those people don't join us.I know some people just like to read.
I wonder how Meg is...if she's ok

Happy Thursday all! Ruth, glad that whole incident was an SUV, which ought to be able to take a bit more abuse than a car. Plus they tend to be higher from the ground. Thanks for asking about DGD #1. Have not heard how she is doing today, but with a temp of over 100 (she was at 100.2) her school policy is that she had to stay home today. She did not seem too sick to me, but did look a bit tired.
Really! 30 views! Pretty impressive for a first day, I suppose. I worked this am....had another cute story. 8 years ago, I drove a student for his kindergarten year. From day one, there was no doubt in my mind that he had asbergers syndrome, and the scarey part was he would fixate on the flashing school bus lights (one of the many possible behaviors shown by Asbergers kids). I had heart failure almost every day crossing him....yes Mom came and helped and we did get it to the point where he was not too bad at it. He was always polite and friendly, a charming little fellow. I saw him briefly (but was unable to speak with him) about 3 years ago. Again, wondered how he was doing and how he would fare in this world. Well today the route I drove included him. I was excited to pick him up- am SO happy that he is in the mainstream school and, now in 7th grade, he still remembers me! (He told me I was his kindergarten driver). So happy for him....hope he does well in life.
I have to find the other pillow case to embroider. I finished the one and should make the other. Might be a good project to keep me out of trouble between quilts.
No word from Meg. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - What a wonderful story about the boy. I bet that was a great feeling to know that he remembered you - shows what an influence you are and were for all those children Are you marking your own patterns for embroidering on the pillowcases, or are they the pre-stamped cross stich ones? I found a website today that is offering free BOM gingerbread house themed embroidery and quilt squares. I'm going to save them each month and then think about doing them, here's a link: www.daysfilledwithjoy.com/2019/02/18/gingerbread-village-free-bom-2019/ - Block 1 info www.daysfilledwithjoy.com/2019/03/19/gingerbread-village-free-bom-block-2/ - Block 2 info The half square triangles I had were left over from a project I did where I made a whole border of half square triangles, so I had already sewn them together and now just have to lay them out and sew them up to make a cute small quilt. I like working with the bright colors too. Ruth - I'm glad you and your DH were safe after all the adventures of dealing with the snow. I sure wish you had someone to shovel it for you. I hope that you'll find a good vehicle. It's smart to take your time and not end up with a problem. I've been thinking about a used car too, but I just worry about ending up with a lemon. I know a new car can be bad too, but there's less chance. I'm probably one of those people giving you some of the views on the thread. I often check it to read and keep up and then it makes it easier for me to post. And sometimes I'm just not up to posting on a certain day but still like to read and see how you all are I went out yesterday and took care of a bunch of errands, now I can stay home today. I had 2 packages to mail to a relative in another state and needed to use UPS because one box was very big. I was shocked at how much it cost to mail the packages! They really take advantage of people, I know it doesn't cost them that much to mail them. I think the 2 items weren't even worth as much as it cost me to mail them I'm not feeling motivated to do much today. I had a migraine earlier but I took some aspirin (with caffeine added) and feel better. I need to keep working on my inventory in the house and I'd love to do some quilting but I'm not feeling up to it right now. I also still need to get a plumber here to work on the water heater, but I've been putting that off too. I'm sure I'll get back into things soon. It's a pretty sunny day here at least. I hope everyone else is doing well and getting in some crafting. Take care everyone!

Ginny, how wonderful it is that the boy with Asperger's is doing so well. And it's always a good feeling when child remembers you esp one that is disabled in any way.I don't know a lot about Aspergers but my dgd with it has a great memory too. Still I wouold think that you made a great impression on this boy when he was young
CJ, sorry to hear about the migrane. I hope you're already feeling better but some days we need to just stop and take it easy all day. And that's great advice to take our time on a vehicle. I'm kind of impulsive. I usually get a good price but I need to take more time and make them wait until I think about their offer for another day each time I buy a different vehicle. We don't really need another one but I'd sure like to have a 4 wheel drive for winter.
I did get all the gifts wrapped and packed and have the box already to take except for the address label which will go on the box in a minute. Then I'm going out to do a little shoveling.I'll do the rest tomorrow. Dh keeps insisting he's going to help but his back and neck already hurt from yesterday. There's not that much to do and I can do it much easier than he can

Good evening!
CJ, I did check out that web site with the quilt squares and they are so cute! Like how one was a little country house and the other a block of squares. So very sweet and I hope that you take that project on. I really hope that your migraine has passed and you are feeling much better. Do you get migraines a lot? Do not blame you for postponing the visit to repair your hot water tank. Even simple repairs are $200, and if it goes over it’s much worse.. as far as my pilllow cases go, I use stamped. Lazy me!
Ruth thanks for the correction on the proper of spelling of aspergers. The list of potential impacts is long, but it’s typical for them not to want to be touched or be sound/light or smell sensitive. Many do not socialize well. Of course the list is long and each person is an individual. Now on to the post office! Yes for heavy packages their rates are high. I thought they Used to have a rate for very slow mailings, and you paid less. Now it all seems like the packages get there quickly but you pay a fortune.
No crafting for me today but I did straighten up my craft area a bit and look for the other pillowcase. Ginny

I didn't even notice any spelling errors. If it's true that you mispelled I didn't notice and probably thought it was a typo. I hope you find your second pillow case. I remember when you were working on the first one
Yes mostly when our hot water heater does something wacky its because the whole thing is shot. Our water here is so hard that we've been through a lot of water heaters in the time we've lived here.Luckily dh knows how to replace them and ours are electric which costs less than the gas ones.
I hope all of you have a good night with a good night's sleep

Today was a stay at home day. Sunshine and 40 degrees!
There is a bit more than two feet of snow. That's after a few days of sunshine and some compacting. There was one spot against the chain link fence where the snow was within inches of the top of the fence at four feet. The veggie garden area is terraced with raised beds and just looks a big hill. The robins still aren't back in our subdivision, but they've been spotted in some other parts of town.
Tomorrow I'm going to get a different face mask for my CPAP. Afterwards I'm meeting my property manager and hb's caregiver, girlfriend and dog at the duplex. They are looking for a place to rent. The dog is an older dog. I am very much in favor of renting to them. The timing is perfect. The unit should be ready in three weeks.
I also have to drop off a lot of flattened boxes for recycling ... hopefully I'll remember before I do the grocery shopping!
I put up my new bird feeder this afternoon. There's a pole that attaches to the deck railing. If it needs to be moved, that will be easy to do.

Phyl, that stinks that a side effect is not sleeping! Guess you should sleep whenever it works, and if you can in your chair than so be it. I sure hope that your pain subsides....and that walking it out helps. Think you came mightly close to spelling sacroilliac!! Nice job there
Sue, well your snow is melting. With 40 degree weather you have to lose some. Were you able to get a better CPAP mask?? Are you looking for greater comfort or ease of cleaning?
Ruth and CJ- how were your days?
Got an email from Herrscheners, and they have a sale on pre printed pillow cases to embroider......I keep on thinking I should make some for Dd and her husband to be.....oh dear I do NOT need a new project.
Guess I better head to bed. G’night all

Phyl, sorry to hear that your thigh hurts. Is it on the same leg that you had the hip injection? and yes those steroid injections do disturb the sleep and also makes the blood sugar go up. Ginny, thanks for updating us on Meg. Gee, her dd is staying in rehab a long time. I saw Herrschnerr's email but didn't open it. I didn't want to be tempted. Yes you need to add more projects to your list. You need to make your list as long as mine. Mine is so long I'll never be able to complete in in this lifetime. And there's always that Mountain land scarf Today I searched for two credit cards that must have fallen out of my pocket the other day when I was out. I finally cancelled both. I have two projects started and am planning on starting the third so that I can move from one to another when one gets boring...that's the theory anyway because I actually prefer to just get each one done. It's not that I don't already have a bunch of partially completed projects. I've made my list so I have something started for everyone I'm planning on making something for anytime in the next few months. I've also added a couple patterns to my folder of patterns to make for donating. I found what the designer calls a bandanna cowl which will be perfect for the winter climate here. That and a hat will keep the wearer's head and neck nice and cozy warm. And I'm already trying to find ideas on what to make for my dgd that will be 8 at the end of August. I did see a nice pattern for what the designer calls a poncho sweater that is a possibility. Or maybe just a triangle scarf and hat. Then I chatted with my "neice" that has ovarian cancer in messages for awhile. Tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of her mother's death. Tomorrow is when I'm taking my car for it's six month maintenance and a recall fix so I'll be sitting there crocheting and drinking their coffee, tea or whatever looks good...the have a Kcup thing and have all kinds of beverages for it. I don't know how long this will take but probably at least an hour. Then Friday blood draws so more waiting time or should I say crochet time
