Good morning all! Ruth, glad you hwere able to contact your niece- how very sad that she has ovarian cancer. I hope and pray that it can be cured and has not spread. I know with that particular cancer, its usually discovered in later stages when its more difficult to tread. I am sure she was comforted by her contact with you. Do not blame you for going for that free coffee at the dealership. Its a nice treat- hopefully they will get the car serviced quickly so that you do not lose too much of your day to that. So you think I should line up another project or two or three or four? ? Ha ha ha. My first priority is to find that one pillowcase!! Honestly, I did look at the Herrschnerrs site and did not see anything that appealed to me. Thats ok, there is always Joanns, AC Moore, Michaels, Mary Maxim......even walmart. Worked this am. Long driving route, special needs kids. Last night we got robbed. Don’t get too upset, a bear or racoon stole our suet cage. I feel bad for the woodpeckers who are missing their suet this am. BBL G

Oh my goodness, Ginny, I hope it was a raccoon not a bear!! Are the woodpeckers you have the red breasted ones that have the back and white stripes...we had those in Arkansas. They're so interesting to watch.I didn't see that they had much red on them but that's what I was told they were called. There were so many great birds down there. I especially liked the mockingbirds. First time I ever heard them was in Texas when I visited ds and his family when he was in the Army there at Shepherd AFB.Before that we had a stuffed toy mockingbird that made that same sound so when I heard them in Texas I knew exactly what they were. They sounded just like my toy. Here our woodpeckers are the Northern Flickers that I've mentioned. They're nice looking birds too but a real pain because we have that wood siding that they love to peck at. It always sounds like someone is knocking at the door.
Yes she is not really my neice but her mother always had her children call all of her friends "aunt" so she always calls me Aunt Ruth. I hear from her more than I hear from my actual neices and nephews
My appointment is not till 1 so I have a lot of sitting around waiting to go time. I never was really able to do other things when waiting to go somewhere like to work at 3 pm so I always admire those of you that go to work twice in a day and are actually able to accomplish things in between.

The woodpeckers we have rea the Northern Flicker, red belliled woodpecker , downy woodpecker (male has a red stripe and then black and white stripes) and the hairy woodpecker, which looks just like the downy but is a larger bird, more like the size of a robin. On a rare occasion we get a red headed woodpecker, who hangs out near the house but does not do on our feeder. And we do have black bears here, and they are coming out of hibernation.
I love mockingbirds. They are a psychotic song bird, but are so fasciniating with their different songs. Hope we get the one to return that we usually get each summer.
During my full time school bus driving years I taught myself to get things done in between the am and pm routes. Its the only way I got anything done.
We just had to pick up some groceries, so I did the insane thing anb bought another suet cage which will go out tomorrow. I am afraid if I put it out tonight that the bear or whatever will just come back and steal this one. Ginny

We supposedly have all those woodpeckers but I haven't seen any of them except for the flicker. Yes good idea to keep the suet feeder indoors tonight. Otherwise however took that other one will think you're feeding them.
Got home from the car dealer ok. A young woman that just started working there yesterday and is supposed to be in training kept me company.Of course she wanted to make asale on her second day but that didn'thappen.
ON Monday in early morning I heard three thumps against the house. I didn't think too much about it but dh is a little paranoid and of course thought a person did it. Well found out after I got home that the neighbor had the same thing happen at their house. Neither of us saw any people nor any tracks so it had to be someone throwing something. We don't have much in hte way of crime or problems here but something similar happened about 3 or so years ago when someone was outside tapping on window at our house and the home of neighbors. No one ever did find out who that was.
I did do a bit of crocheting while at th4e dealer but then I stopped crocheting when the girl actually sat down beside me and really started to talk. Tomorrow is labs and post office and grocery store then we're done till April 2nd

evening, well I did sleep some better last night .more like in and out sleep.sleep, wake up,sleep ,wake up.so got up a little after 4 am and in my chair. laid back down about 7.45 and slept for almost 2 hours. the leg hurt a liittle bit last night, this am for awhile and more limping. think I finally got it worked out.
we went to the mall ,had lunch and did some other things. don got his new glasses.
for some reason I felt really tried. took a ten minute nap when we got home.
sure don't remember going through all this when I had it done in november, I think not having some chiropractor treatments might have something to do with it.
I am not blaming the treatment.
yes I know it raises the bs. tuesday night it was 280,last night 180,tonight 130 is coming down.
sure hope I feel like doing something tomorrow.house needs to be cleaned. good thing don helps. phyl

Hey Ruth, sounds like you have a few busy days. The new salesperson at the dealership must have thought you were friendly and approachable- guess most people who bring crafts to a dealership to do while their car is being worked on are! Glad you did not buy another new car.....you just got one! ha ha ha. Guess you and Dh have to fast tonight, which always seems like the longest night ever when you cannot even have one tiny snack. Hope you make it through the night just fine and get the labs done. That is some freaky story about the thumps against the house...who knows what it was caused by, but I can imagine its troublesome. Guess I would just keep my eyes open and be sure to contact the neighbor if it happens again....and perhaps call the police if necessary.
Dh felt sorry for the birds and put the suet block where neither the bear nor racoon can get to it. Lets see if it lasts the night.
Well, I found the pillow case! Also found TONS of projects that I have the fabric for and.....please please please talk Ginny out of buying any fabric if she talks about getting more. She DOES NOT NEED IT! I did start cleaning out some old craft supplies, actually threw some stuff out and organized some fabrics in zip lock bags so its neater to put back in the tub. Also found a pamphlet on camel crochet that my DSIL (the ace crochetter) in Florida gave to me. Lets see if I can manage to make my way through those directions and figure out how to do that.

Good to hear from you Phyl! Glad your leg is improving.....indeed it could be that missing some chiropractor visits are responsible for the discomfort. Anyway- so glad its getting a bit better. And that your bs is on the way back down. Maybe when your bs is more normal, you will have more energy and feel like doing some housework. Gotta love Don for helping out ! Sleep tight tonight.....will be praying for you that you can get your much needed rest Ginny

Phyl, I figured you knew about the blood sugar spike that would happen and I see it did. I'm glad it's coming back down and I'm glad you got more sleep. The housework can wait. But you're very smart in going out to the mall and walking around to get everything working right again. Many people would just sit and think it would get better on it's own.
Ginny, well after I got home and told dh about the girl trying to sell me another car he actually looked some up online and there's one he would have had me going over there tomorrow after labs to look at and probably buy except that when he showed it to me I pointed out to him that it is a manual transmission....no thanks...been there done that. It was kinda fun in my younger years but not now and not in this hilly location. we don't really need another car but it was also awd. I'm still holding out for a 4 wheel drive.
Sure, right, I'm going to talk you out of buying fabric...can't even talk myself out of buying more yarn. I also have a lot of fabric..more than I thought. If you mean camel stitch it's not hard if you realize what stitch they're talking about when they say "into the third loop" There are good videos. They also say the first one of the row or round is hard to find...it really isn't. It makes a nice ridge which when done for several rows or for a whole item, it looks like that item has been knitted. But it really only works after a hdc row.So if you want to do more than one row you have to do hdc into the third loop so that you have third loops to go into on the next one. Some say you can do it in a sc but those people must be on something because unless you want to really struggle to do a row of crochet, it really doesn't work.
What I'm working on today is a baby blanket. It's really pretty and is made with the cabbage patch stitch. You may remember me mentioning it before. I started a blanket in this stitch last year right before I started the one like the one you made for your new dgd. Neither of those is finished and yet, here I am working on yet another. This one though is made in baby yarn...Jamie. Not so great for a fall baby though but at least it won't be heavy on him or her and it will be nice and decorative.

Ok so really, please tell me not to buy fabric.....of yarn, or pillowcases or anything. I have to finish organizing and putting away what I have. Ruth, hope that the labs went without a hitch and there was no line. I know if it was a fasting specimen, it always bugs me when you must w-a-i-t when all you want is some coffee and a piece of toast or whatever you like for breakfast. Did you and Dh go out for breakfast afterward? A nice treat after the night without food. Gee, I make it sound as if we are all starving and 12 hours without food will kill us! I agree with you on the transmission. We used to have two cars that were manual transmission....but now that I am an old relic I would rather some comforts...and an automatic transmission. The booklet that DSIL gave to me is called camel crochet and I think the author is one of those whose you tubes you mention. I am too lazy at the moment to go get the book and check her name The diagrams and pictures seem to be very good, perhaps I will give that a try. Someday. Ha ha ha. I inherited from her and a friend (plus a small amount from my mom) a lot of crochet instruction books, quilt books and sewing in general books. I have gotten rid of many already- but now reality is setting in and there are several books I have never used. Yup, those will be the ones to be donated. Ok so here is what I think is the short list of what I am making this year..... A Christmas tree skirt for Dd and DSIL to be, the BOM quilt, the falling charms quilt, a pillowcase (finally found that!) and the last of the quilts from my mom’s blouses. Think that is enough??? And of course I could decide to make another table runner and some pot holders for Christmas gifts. Anyway, while organizing fabric, I found a honey bun of off white fabric. I bought the honey buns (2) thinking it was a jelly roll- for non quilters a honey bun is, I think 1 1/2 inches wide, while a jelly roll 2 1/2. So for the falling leaves quilt, I bought fabric and cut it myself, which leaves me with the honey buns. I think that they will be perfect for a sashing for the quilt from my mom’s blouses- I look forward to finishing that project. When? Who knows! Anyway, cleaning up and organizing what I have is good cause I will waste far less fabric. Babysitting today....so no crafting. DGS just came in from being outside with Dh....so I’d better go. Hope to hear from CJ and Sue and Phyl....Betty also. Meg mentioned in her email that she would check in when she could. Take care Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm sorry that I can't help you with avoiding buying new fabric, I need help with that myself Ruth - I hope you won't hear any more noises around your house, that stuff makes me so worried when it happens at my house. Phyl - Hope you are feeling better today. I've been doing things around the house, but have taken a few days away from my decluttering. I have been making some lists though. I need to get motivated again to finish what I want to do. I did finish reading a book about Downsizing the Family Home and it gave some good tips and information. I made an appointment for the water heater for next week and I'm hoping it's an easy fix like the thermostat or a coil. It's never the money that is an issue with me (fortunately), it's that I get anxious having people come into my house and being alone with them. When they are here I usually put 2 phones in my jeans pockets, 2 sets of car keys, and sometimes a knife - yes I know that's a bit crazy I have a quilt show to go to this weekend, it's the first one of the season so I'm looking forward to it. I pulled out a few small pieces of fabric that I have to make a basket block small quilt. I thought that would be something pretty and fun to do for Springtime. Take care everyone and have a great weekend!

Hello everyone. We got home not all that long ago from the blood draw, post office and grocery shopping. We did stop on a little Used car lot and there was a vehicle that I really liked but it was more than I wanted to pay for it.. I took my crocheting with me and was able to do a couple rows while waiting to be called in and then while dh was in having his blood drawn.the rest of the day will probably be nothing but crocheting. I really need to do some house cleaning but tomorrow I'm really going to try to get my taxes done then the cleaning will be started.
CJ, Yes a nice basket block quilt really will be a very nice spring project.

Ginny, I don't know how I missed your post above. It sounds like you have a plan for your crafting. Did you add your mountain land scarf? I guess you were making it for you and I know how that goes. We never seem to make things for ourselves. I made two of the Mountain Land scarves and gave them both as gifts even though I was planning on making one for myself. Of course the quilt made with your mom's blouses is for you I would guess and it will also be a family heirloom.
No there was no line really. There was one other person there. Only thing we have to wait for is for someone to decide they want to draw blood I guess...well maybe they're busy running the tests.. I don't really know so shouldn't say things I don't know about. We didn't have to wait long. The rows on my crocheting are not all that long and they're easy. I have several things on my short list and have two of them started. One is the baby blanket and that's what I was working on today.
I wanted to to also say hello to Meg, Phyl, Sue, and Betty...did I miss anyone?

Good morning! CJ- that is an awesome idea consulting a book on downsizing the family home. Of course it’s of little help for me now, I am down to some pictures, and paperwork..... a few other items too but it’s no longer the overwhelming tsunami of stuff. So happy for you that you found a way to deal with the topic. It was a concern of yours for quite awhile. Have fun at the quilt show!!!!! And I also think that the quilted basket is a great idea. A nice manageable project to use up smaller quantities of fabric.
Ruth, glad the trip out for the bloodwork went well. Is 4WD your main criteria for a truck? Did you get your crocheting time in as planned? Well I did not have the mountainland scarf on my list..... guess I should! I did print out the directions last year, which is good so I do not have to find them online again.
Happy Saturday all!bbl Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later. It's an overcast day here so far and no sun so it feels colder although I haven't checked the actual temp yet.
CJ, have a great time at the quilt show. I'm sure you're going to see some very beautiful quilts. I'm going to keep a lookout for when they have the one here and will try to go to it.
Ginny, yes 4wh drive is my main criteria. I want either a pickup truck or an SUV that has it. I already have 3 other vehicles, none of which have awd or 4wd just front wheel drive which does help a little but not much. I'm still looking for someone that wants my little old car so that I can give that one away.DGS, as you know moved out of the country. Then dd said she wanted it but then didn't come and get it. There's a man here that walks his dogs past here who mentioned it for his grandson but I haven't seen him either. I may end up donating it to the organization that helps victims of domestic abuse.
