Sue, that is a lovely gift your Dd gave you!! I would imagine taking dogs to a groomer is stressful....so this helps a lot. A kind and thoughtful gift. Wave to your sewing machine.....it will be there for you when you do not have company and your healthcare assistant for Dh is healthy.
Ruth, glad you cleaned your craft cave.....please stop in to help me with mine! G

Ginny, I'll be right over but I probably won't be of much help. I'm definitely not good at organizing and still have a long way to go in my cave. At least now I can walk in there. Just now I found the pound of love yarn I was looking for awhile back..it was in a bin. about six skeins of it. I sure wish I had bought clear bins. Yesterday I also found a large laundry hamper type thing filled with really nice but probably useless novelty yarn. Remember about 15 years ago...wll probably more...when those skinny scarves made with ladder yarn and also with funfur were trendy? Well I have 5 or 6 rolls of the ladder yarn which I don't think there's a thing you can do with it now. I also have funfur but it's making a comeback as edging on some items. Now I wish I hadn't given so much of it away. I thought I had given it all away...but I do think I need to give away the ladder stuff. I also have some other small skeins of various other novelty yarns. I wish that I was more creative so that I could think of things to use it for.I also have a lot of suede and chenille which is maybe even worse than homespun to work with but it's nice for scrunchies. I'd have to make about a gazillion scrunchies though to use all of it.And I also have a bit of the sashay yarn that was used to make the frilly scarves but there are still things you can use that for also.,,again scrunchies is one of them.
Oh and the other bad thing about the suede is it "worms"...when you make something, later all of a sudden some parts will come undone (for instance right in the middle of a scarf) which seems like would be impossible but there are articles about that online
Now I want to make my ds' oldest daughter an afgan for her birthday and don't have enough of any yarn I think she'd like to make it with (another thing added to my list but I'm working down the list)

hello, hello, I ain't dead yet. geez I have not been here since april 1.
delona and I had fun celebrating our bdy's and exchanging gifts.
thursday Don and I went for a ride. we went to a quilt shop in mn and ia. I only bought 2 yards of reindeer fabric. it is pretty. the shop in ia did not turn me on usually it does. we did eat at a pizza place and had taco pizza.
I did stop in a yarn shop. did find the pink hank of cascade yarn for the cable scarf.I worked part of that one skein so much that I felt I needed a new skein. I HAVE 3 altogether. yep I am going to try it again.
friday mary jo and I went to a sit and sew. we should have stayed home. I was not prepared.the project case I grabbed did not have everything in it.I did take counted cross stitch with me.that did not go over. just been to long since I have done it. this project is a baby blanket size. why I bought it who knows. I usually stick to smaller things.
WE should have stayed home mary go was having problems also. she brung handwork and her hands were not working right either.arthritis and sore. she was working on grandmother's flower garden.
I am going to give my ccs kits away. I WILL KEEP MAGGIE THE MESS MAKER. THAT IS THE ONE WITH THE KITTY IN THE SEWING ROOM AND LOTS OF YARN WRAPPED AROUND HER.NEED TO FINISH THAT ONE.
THIS AM WE MET JEANA AND HER FIEND AT FAYZEES. A BIRTHDAY BREAKFAST. STILL NEED TO GET TOGETHER WITH MARGIE AND TOM.
ruth is there a senior center or a nursing home that could use the yarn for when they have activities?
sue that is a very thoughtful bd gift. phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend Sue - What a nice gift from your DD. Ginny - I haven't read the series you asked about. I always check Amazon to see when new books are coming out for authors that I like, so you might try that. Hope you are able to get the supplies you need to do your BOMs. Ruth - What type and color of yarn are you thinking about for your DGD's new afghan? Phyl - That trip sounds like it was fun and I'm glad you found some fabric. It's beautiful and sunny here today and around 70. My lawn guy came to mow the lawn. I really felt like it was too early since most of the yard is zoysia grass and it's still brown from the winter. But I don't like to complain because he's very dependable and does a good job. There is no way I could mow and trim this large yard anymore, so I'm glad to have him. I finished my book and it was good I've already started another, this one is the 3rd (and last) one in a series. It's about 3 women who are sisters and their father's Will stated that in order to get their inheritance (and he had a lot of money when he died) they had to refurbish an old historic movie theater in the small town he grew up in. Two sisters are from the same mother, and the other is from a different mother - and the first two sisters never knew anything about the other sister, and vice versa. It's been an interesting series. The author is Mariah Stewart and the books are the Hudson Sisters series. I found this author when I read the Chesapeake Diaries series, which are also very good books. I liked them since they took place in the Chesapeake Bay area in my home state. I've decided to put away the feedsack fabrics I pulled out. I'm just not "feeling" them in a quilt right now. I would love to work on the Warm Wishes quilt that I've had fabrics picked out for a long time now. They are very springtime colors - floral, pink, lilac and soft green, so it would be a good time of year to make that quilt top. Take care everyone!

Good evening! Phyl- sounds like you had a fun day- and when you went out with Don. What are your plans for the reindeer fabric? Do you have a quilt in mind or did it just speak to you? Thats too bad that sit and sew did not work out for you. Sometimes its just hard to have everything packed, especially if you use those supplies at home and then unpack them. I have no idea how those who attend a guild manage to work there and remember to bring all that they need to a meeting.
CJ- well - I bet your yard looks great and will not get that early spring straggly look. As far as the feedsack quilt, the inspiration will hit you when its time to work on that. think working on the warm wishes quilt is a great idea, as the fabric colors will inspire you as spring is upon us. There is something so comforting reading a book series that takes place in an area which is dear to us. It makes the story seem so much more believable and interesting- But you have to like the style of the book, which apparently you do!! I say that because a former coworker recommended a book to me, because it was a novel taking place in the town we live in. Well, I got less than 5 pages in and the bad language and all too modern story line completely turned me off. Stopped reading that very quickly!!!! I much rather prefer a book that takes me somewhere I like to be....but tend to like historical novels.
Ruth, can I stop laughing now? Hands down you are the most prolific crochetter here, and you said you wished you were more creative?! I understand where you are coming from, you have specialty yarns and do not know what to do with them... perhaps trying the Lion brand site, or even just googling what to make with a suede yarn for example, maybe that would work. Just an idea, what about chair mats or a rug? My DSIL in Florida actually crochetted her own chair mats- think she made them in sort of a braided rug type construction- and they came out really well. Just an idea....but I have come to realize that there are many many different projects to make with yarn- not just sweaters and scarves and afghans. Hope you can find something to use that yarn up!
Ok Ginny was naughty and ordered a bunch of quilting supplies today through Joanns( had a gift card for some of it). All was on sale and they are items that I will use for the BOM. Honestly, I do not see that I will make another BOM- unless its a special quilt that I really want to make. Its expensive and time consuming.....and I can relate to what CJ mentioned about having a deadline to meet.each month. But I look forward to finishing it and hope that I do not mess things up. This quilt will take some precision in cutting and putting together.
Grandkids were very well behaved today....a pleasure to sit for them. Ginny

good happy Sunday morning not sure what we will do today. might have lunch at home and then bum.
Don does not like to sit around on Sundays.he says it makes the day to long ,even with going to church. bad weather day that is different. we don't like to bum in really cold or lots of snowy day.
yesterday we went to Winona. stopped at The little quilt shop. nothing jumped out and bit me.(sigh). don't need anything. I told Don yesterday I just have to much s---! he says I'm glad you said it and not me. lol.
Our guild meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month,. our meeting is more of a business meeting, show and tell and a program. no sewing. sew days are just sew days.
I have no idea about the reindeer fabric. the fabric said buy me, you know you like me.
so what kind of presser foot and templates were order?
One day on roll call I was talking about getting rid of ccs. so lin told me about a book by lauraine snelling "half finished" it is about a guild and projects not getting done.you can google it. I may just order it. reviews are not the greatest. sounds like a easy read.
I do not like books with alot of cussing in it or alot of detailed sex secenes. leave something to the imaingation.phyl

Happy Sunday! Phyl- my reading standards are a lot like yours. There is enough trashy stuff going on in this world- at least let your reading time be peaceful and non threatening. I ordered my presser foot and templates from Sparrow quilting in Canada. The presser foot is made to fit into the grooves on the template. Each template has its own design (you buy the design you like). I bought a swirls template and a general stipple. Obviously you lower the feed dogs to use this and install the presser foot and guide the quilt through the template. When you get to the end of the template, keep your needle down and rotate the template. Looks easy enough. Hopefully I can make some sense out of it. Cannot wait to hear what you decide to do with the reindeer fabric. And I like Don’s senses of humor....best that you said you had enough stuff for quilting and not him. It sure is a pricey habit/hobby!
Got to church this am...now am trying to decide if I want to remove the bathroom cabinet....Dh is out for a few hours and he has been resisting doing that. (We have a new cabinet).Or I can play with fabric. Not sure. Have a great day Ginny

CJ, I'm sure it's nice to look out and see your lawn all nicely mowed. Just 3 days ago ours started to turn green and it will soon start growing despite the fact that there will be lots of really cold days before spring really arrives. In fact we only have two more days of upper 50's and low 60's before we have two days where the high will be only 36 so they say and snow is expected. As Ginny mentioned, I'm not looking forward to having to do yard work again.
Ginny, thank you for your confidence in me. I sometimes get a hit of inspiration and creativity but not often. I mostly follow patterns but I do modify and change them but I do mostly have to see work of others to get ideas. Yes the BOM is something to think about before becoming committed to doing it.I know you'll get some great ideas there and you'll be mostly glad you did it.
Phyl sounds like you're keeping busy as usual doing things that you like to do and it sounds as if your hubby likes doing those same things. I do have a LOT of fabric that called to me asking me to take it home. It didn't tell me to use it so it's still sitting there. In fact I have a lot that's esp for certain holidays so I want to make a little quilt type thing for under my little Christmas tree before Christmas this year. I've been talking about that for 2 years now. I have used some of the other fabric for lining the purses I've made for the dgks and some I used to make rice bags. My dh didn't exactly tell me I had too much yarn and fabric but he did say that my ccraft cave looks like a warehouse. He doesn't complain when I mention buying more though.
Speaking of yarn and fabric, I should go and find more space to put more of the yarn away. My problem is that I have all this yarn and need to decide what specific things to make with certain yarns. It's much easier for me to look at an item and get yarn to make it than it is to have the yarn and have to find a pattern that will work with IT.
Ginny, I found a cute thing for you to make for your grands..yep you need another project....water balloons. You use Bernat blanket yarn or a yarn that is just like it and make the little balloons, soak then in water then the kids splat each other with them. Just like water ballons but without the mess of little pieces of rubber to pick up after the water fight. I had to order yarn to make some...of course there wasn't any in my stash. I'm waiting on it but I'm not going to make them right away because I have a box of summer toys to send, will put the ballons in that, and will send that probably toward the last of May so I have time...Doesn't take long to make them "they" say. We'll see.
Does it seem to the rest of you that April is going too fast?

Hello Crafters - Hope you are enjoying your Sunday For those that aren't familiar with zoysia grass, here's a short video that shows what my lawn looks like. It really just looks like hay or straw, so maybe you can understand why I felt it was too early to cut it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AluIILZesGg - don't need to watch the whole thing, it's a bit technical I think I'm a little possessive, or maybe crazy, about the lawn because I associate it with my father so much. He worked for years plugging pieces of zoysia grass throughout the yard to get it to spread and it did before he died so he was able to see all his hard work come to fruition. Phyl (and everyone else) - I know you were interested in the embroidery of the barns, and I thought you'd like to see this one crafter's 4 barns she has finished. I love them and I have these patterns and would love to make them some day: catpatches.blogspot.com/2019/04/nine-is-fine.html - scroll down to the 3rd picture I've been reading the blogs on the Slow Sunday Stitching website, so that's my crafting for the day. Take care everyone!

Oh no!!!!! Is tomorrow really Monday??
Ruth, I am not sure about the water balloon......what do you actually do, cover the balloon with yarn? I am having a tough time envisioning it, but then I am tired to boot. I know you usually find a way to use up yarn....one thing I have in my list of projects to crochet is a temperature blanket. I figure it will use up lots of yarn, when I find the time.
CJ- we have a small patch of zoysia grass- which here in NY looks like straw at the moment and has that rough feel to it. It never really “gives” like grass when you step on it but I think the beauty of it is it chokes out weeds and does look really nice when its turned green. Glad you got some crafting time in!!!! Slow stitch Sunday counts of course.
My crafting for the day was to measure my 1/4 inch foot for my machine to make sure i know where the true 1/4 inch line is. This BOM quilt requires super accurate seams....so I want to be sure I know what I am doing. Ha ha ha. Tuesday or Wednesday I will go to my LQS to buy the thread for my quilt (its a tiny store) and then, take a deep breath and start my first block. G

CJ, good to see you and thank you for the links. You do show us the nicest things. I don't know what kind of grass we have but It doesn't last long in this heat and dryness. We have mostly a desert landscape.
Ginny, I'm glad you got a chance to get things measured and are ready to start after your trip to the quilt shop. No the water balloons don't have ballooms at all. They're just made of yarn then they soak up water which is why you have to use that one particular kind (I'm sure you don't have to use that particular brand but all the patterns do specify it). You crochet them to look like balloons. I see a LOT of people in the crochet groups making temperature blankets. I never felt inspired to make one of them but some of the ones they show are very nice.
Well today I did a little cleaning and a tiny bit more organizing then I did finishing work on dd's and one of my ds' gifts vy weaving in ends. Then did the edging on the dragon wing scarf and wove in those ends. Then just for fun I made great grandaughter a cute little sunhat. I have one more row to do on it...just an edging which will take no time at all. She is a redhead like her mom and aunt so will burn easily in the sun. Of course I don't know if she'll leave it on. She's 20 months old and most children that age seem to take off their hats all the time.I also saw a pattern for a stress lemon..you squeeze if for stress. My dd is always stressed so I'm going to make her a couple of them. I had thought maybe this evening but I think I might just read instead. I've done a lot of crocheting today already
Oh and CJ, I forgot to answer your question the other day...no I don't know what kind of yarn or the colors I'm going to make dgd's blanket. I haven't decided what one I want to make yet. I'm thinking of a C2C one but I might make the Lion pattern called two stripe afgan..Not sure yet.
