Ruth, thanks for the explanation on the balloons...yes, I will have to check them out and see if I can fit making them in for the grandkids. They do sound adorable. Speaking of adorable, I am sure that sun had for your DGGD is adorable, what color did you make (or are making, you said you were near the end of it) for the little red head? Yes, lots of babies take them off- some do some don’t. And I was wondering about the dragon scarf/shawl. Guess its done by now and ready to give to your Dd.
We switched babysitting days this week with DD’s MIL- so we are off today. RIght now, I wish I had a quiet day with nothing to do, but that is not the case. I do have to get our junker car in for inspection and have a few things around here to take care of because we are off today. Hard to believe Easter is 2 weeks away....`
See y’all later Ginny

good morning and I hope you all have a good week
Phyl, same here. It won't get to 70 but I do love these 60's. Just like there though, wed and thurs snow. They say we may get up to 18 inches here in the south part of town. I doubt it but well there was that huge storm on Mother's day of 2015 and on May 21st of last year.I did some blankets the other day but have more to do so should do them today and, as you said, hang them out.
Ginny, I always hated taking my cars for inspection. They would always find something really expensive that they claimed needed done. ONe year My car was one year old and they said it needed brake work. I was not one that rode the brakes so I'm sure it was a scam. Finally my dh's grandfather told us about someone he actually knew so when we took our cars to him after that there was no problem. We don't have vehicle inspection here thankfully. So I hope you have someone you can trust and that all goes well.Actually if really honest people did the inspecting on vehicles it would be a good thing. I'm sure none of my vehicles have safety issues because when I go for the oil changes, etc, they do pretty much inspect all those things but in NY I know my old car would never, ever pass. Back there we never had a car over 5 years old and never (until we went to gramp's guy) did they ever pass without us having to spend a lot.
Yes the dragon wing scarf/shawl is all done so I'm going to do the edging on the sunhat. It will take about two minutes because it's a very simple edging.I made it in yellow because I wanted to make it with HL's I Love This cotton because it's nice and soft and light for summer and of the colors I had yellow was the best. Yes she inherited the red hair genes from my father's side of the family and so did my second great grandson. They don't have the real carrotty red...it's more like a strawberry blonde but just a touch redder..same with two of my grandaughters..my dd's girls. My son has no redheads. I think my ddil's genes overrid ds'.All of their children have brown hair. My son is blonde so his oldest dd had quite blonde hair as a baby and toddler but it turned dark.

Glad you slept well last night Phyl. Our body clocks sure can drive us crazy....mine gets me up super early all the time too. Hope your house cleaning goes well too...its gotta happen, I guess. And its nice when our house is clean. Too bad it does not last longer.
Got some housecleaning done here too- and started sanding the small bathroom with the hope of painting it next week. Its a job I wanted Dh to do- and well he has resisted it, so I will take it on, he has agreed to finish it. Hoping we can get it done next week when I have no work or babysitting.
My crafting for the day will probably be stopping at the small LQS and getting my thread for my BOM. G

Hey Ruth! Yes the man we use for our larger repairs and inspection we trust- he is very honest and likes to keep older cars on the road. Our Dd#2 has a strawberry blonde hair- so pretty! Bet that yellow hat will look adorable on DGGD. Wow you are supposed to get a LOT of snow mid week!!! And I think it lasts for a few weeks for you....as in your spring does not really arrive till mid May. G

Hey, CJ- that bunnies and baskets quilt is so so so adorable....and the stippling really makes it special!! Wow what a cute project. The Jelly bean bunny has Ruth written all over it- if any of Ruth’s grandkids are into bunnies. Hope you get a thunderstorm to cool things down a bit. it seems so early for 80 degree weather, and especially knowing that Ruth and Phyl are talking about snow.
The car passed inspection.
Ok funny inspection story.....our Dd#1 had to borrow our old pickup truck (which we got rid of a few years ago, it was super old and needed too much work). Well, for a few years we got an idiot light- and I did take it in to have our trusted mechanic check it out. He said it was an emissions sensor (oxygen sensor) and that he turned it off- in case it was an erroneous reading. If the light came back on, well that meant we had an expensive repair ahead. Dd borrowed the truck a lot as they were just moving furniture in their house. It was time for inspection- and the blasted idiot light was back on. (We had been eeking it through inspection for a few years with this problem). And all the emisissions testing at inspection goes straight to the state capitol, where records on each vehicle are kept. Mind you, when Dd borrowed the truck the light was on. She goes to return the truck to us- its a 25 minute drive and notices the light is off!! (It takes 15 minutes for the car computer to clear itself and remove the bad signal). She gave a quick call to our mechanic enroute- and told him that the light was out. He told her to drive the truck to him immediately- he would do the emissions test immediately and then the truck would pass......which she did....and the very next day the idiot light was back on again. ha ha ha I do love our mechanic. When I lived in Ny there was no emissions test yet. I'm so glad your car passed but with an honest and trusted mechanic if there was something that needed attention it would have been legit. Yes you mentioned that emissions test and I still think it's funny. It's so great that your dd thought to call the mechanic and that he had her stop in there so that he could do the test right away. Awhile back we bought a vehicle..used...and soon after the idiot light came on so I took it to a dealer service center and they did a diagnostic and couldn't find anything. They told me it was a loose gas cap. Well no sooner than I got it home the light was back on and gas cap was still tight. And yes, same when we go to buy cars. If a woman comes in they're sure to try all the tricks they can think of that a man wouldn't fall for. WEll I don't fall for them either. One of them happened to us two weeks ago...dh was with me then though. We stopped and a little used car lot and asked about one of their vehicles. After talking to them we told the salesman that we would think about it so he resorted to the old "well don't wait too long, there's someone else looking at it too". so since that's been used on us before we told him to go ahead and sell it to her.
CJ all those things are so cute but Ginny's right. Now more is added to my to do list!! And as Ginny said that stippling really makes it stand out. It's amazing.
WEll I did get the edging done of the sunhat and started one of those potholders that's supposed to turn itself and all you have to do is sew a diagonal seam.Well they never worked right for me before so I'm trying again
Ginny, you want to come over and sand my bathroom walls? I started taking th4e wallpaper off a couple years ago and saw how rought the walls were under it so put it back in place and haven't got back to working on it yet.
Oh and speaking of bunnies I have another project for you but I have to find the link. It's making a bunny out of a square and from what I saw on the video it works great and doesn't take much time at all. If you want to see it before I get back you can search "making a bunny out of a square"

Ok so I just started a post and now it is hopelessly lost in cyberland. Grrrrrrrr..........
Ruth, well years ago I made one of those crochet and turn potholders, and it was easy. I suspect your directions are not the best, keep on looking and see what other directions you can find! I am no brain surgeon at crochetting (or anything else for that matter) and somehow got the job done, I am sure with the right directions you can also. Love the bunny from a square project! I wonder if a crochetted square would work. DGD#2 has a stuffed bunny that is her “lovey”- bunnies are special to her! As far as the car and the mechanic goes, well Dd also uses him and we are all well familiar with how he operates. I took a car that we used to own in for a factory recall - to the dealership. Of course they tried to scare the tar out of me, and printed out a LONG list of reasons why our car was in serious trouble because we did not use the dealership for service. So I took the list in to our beloved mechanic....who laughed at it and item by item told me what was real and what was a sales pitch for overpriced service. In 30 years, I think he has only done us wrong once....not a bad track record!
Babysat Dgd today....as normal she is a sweetie. Drove this am- and thought it would just be a HS/MS and done. Then I was on standby for a half hour then got the call to go pick up a child who missed his elementary bus. They gave me the address- and then I asked the students name (I always do that so I know I have the correct student). The office did not know....when I arrived at the stop I sat for 5 minutes....finally a neighbor came out and tried to knock on the door. She did that twice and I beeped my horn loudly. Ends up the mom comes out with the studen and she does not speak a drop of english (which is why I got no name for the student). THe student had limited english skills...and I know the school I was driving to has a good ESL program. Just a frustrating situation, but I was glad I was able to help out.
Hope to quilt some tomorrow.....will perhaps read my directions tonight and select the fabrics I want to use. I got an email from Joanns that my goodies from them will be delivered tomorrow.
Okie dokie...have a good night all! Ginny

Ginny, yes they said use either a knitted or a crochet square. I'm sure you could even make one from a square of fabric.
Well I got my 4wh drive. Went to the dealer to look at one vehicle and it was sold so the salesperson told us about some others. Dh had seen them online also. The poor saleswoman had to go in and talk to her boss four times before he finally agreed to what I wanted to pay. I was very firm though on what I was willing to pay. The last two cars I bought they agreed right away even though I had suggested a price that I though was way below what they would accept. Anyway it was a loong day. The weather was beautiful though and we stood outside most of the time. Now it's already starting to deteriorate and is supposed to be terrible tomorrow but I sure hope not. The snow we will get though shouldn't last as it's supposed to start warming up again on Saturday.
before we left I did some crocheting. Dh saw the neck pillow I made for dd and wanted one too (they both have bad necks) so I set aside the things I had planned on working on and worked on his. I have it nearly done. Just have to do the decreases and stuff it.

Good morning!
Ruth, congrats on your 4WD vehicle- so very happy for you that you got it for the price you wanted. It sure does pay to be a good negotiator- and I would think when the car is not brand new there is a littlle more wiggle room in the price. Hope that this vehicle serves you and Dh well and keeps you safe when used. And yes, it sure does seem like hours of paperwork to purchase a vehicle. It takes forever.....and always seems to be that way no matter what dealership or brand. Gotta love your Dh- this is not the first time he has asked you to make something special for him with your crochetting talent! Thanks for the idea of making the bunny out of a fabric square....ya think I might have some fabric here in the house? Ha ha ha
Ok, so I am wrestlng wth what fabrics to make the first two squares for my BOM with. They did not give us all the fabrics, so for now, my choices are a little bit limited. Unfortunately, the colors they gave us all, include 3 of my least favorites, so I have to figure out how to handle it. My pastors wife sort of followed what the pattern asked for, at least for the first square. She did a great job putting the square together, but I really dislike these particular colors together. So, I guess I will be a little bit rogue and have some fun. Lets see how that goes.
Going to the store this am....then really hope to cut some fabric. Hi to Phyl, CJ, and Sue. We miss all who are unable to post....and hope they are ok. I kind of have the feeling that Meg might not be able to rejoin us....and we miss her wit, wisdom and sweet spirit. Ginny

I was definitely thinking of Meg yesterday because the car we looked at and bought is a Honda and I know Meg has one and really likes it. Now I'm waiting for the saleswoman to deliver it. One of the reasons I got more off the price is because I didn't care if it was washed and detailed. I can do that myself but she said she wanted to at least wash it a little so we asked if I could get the shuttle from the service dept come and pick me up so that I could pick it up when it was ready and she said she would bring it here. It didn't snow at all the amount that was forecast but it is still snowing but the streets are clear so she should be able to get it here ok. We told her no hurry. Dh accidentally found the full and detailed Car Fax on it online for free so we're happy to see that the salespeople were not exaggerating when they said the previous owner took excellent care of the vehicle. Good thing you all told me about screenshots because I did that with that report. I don't have a printer but want to save that because I can't imagine that they keep a report like that on every single vehicle for very long. I have to go to the library now and print a copy for my records....sometime
Today will be a crocheting day esp while waiting on that woman to arrive. I hope all of you have a good day. And Ginny, I do like that you're going to go with what you like in fabric colors instead of settling for the fabrics they gave you that you don't care for esp when used together. This is somehting that you want to make to please you not them. All that work and you need it to be to your own taste not that of someone else. Oh and Ginny, this is amazing. The other day dh told me he was ordering from Amazon and did I want to add anything. I told him I couldn't think of anything and he said how about yarn!! This was just the day after he mentioned that my "cave" already looks like a yarn warehouse

Hello Crafters
Ruth - Congratulations on finding your new vehicle, I'm sure you're relieved to be done with that process. It is amazing how "involved" it is to purchase a vehicle! I hope it will last you for awhile and keep you safe on the road. Glad the snow hasn't been too bad for you, hope it stays that way.
Thanks for telling us about the square bunny. I checked out a video and it is so cute and very clever. I think many of us have craft areas that look like warehouses
Ginny - Hope you can figure out what colors you want to use for your BOM. I know when I look at a quilt that is not in colors I like, I'm envisioning what it would like in different colors. That's one reason why I love tutorials where they show you the quilt in a couple different colorways. Hope your trip to the store goes well.
Phyl - Your quilt store trip with friends sounds fun. I'm glad you bought the wallhanging you wanted. Hope your weather doesn't get too bad.
I went out yesterday and ran errands and bought some groceries after the guy came to service my furnace for the year. I'm hoping to have a break from "house" issues for a bit - hopefully I'll make it through the Summer
I'm baking some carrots today. I like to use the McCormick's Pot Roast seasoning bag to bake them. I don't put any meat or potatoes in with them, just the carrots.
I'm not motivated to doing any crafting, so I'm just letting it go and not worrying about it. I'm sure I'll get back to it eventually. There is another quilt show later this month that I hope to go to, those are always fun and make me want to work on projects. It's a pretty day here and a bit cooler and windier than yesterday. More my type of weather.
I hope the others who post here are doing well to and that they'll be able to post soon and let us know how they are
Take care everyone!
